20 Great Paris Restaurants That Are Actually Open On Mondays

"This former horse butchery was repurposed a decade ago into what’s now one of the best places for a traditional Parisian jambon-beurre. A fresh baguette is slathered generously with butter and heaped with thick slices of barely pink Prince of Paris ham—a significant glow-up from the versions at bog standard boulangeries, and well worth the €5.70 price tag. You'll pay a few extra euros to upgrade to cooked fillings, though the runny-in-the-middle house tortilla española with guindillas is a must, especially for vegetarians. Add a portion of a seasonal salad, like tomato-nectarine with herbaceous lemon verbena, and enjoy your choices at the narrow counter, or take them to the small square across the way." - emily monaco

Chez Aline - Gastro Obscura

"In 2015, Delphine Zalpetti, a self-taught chef, took over a former horse butcher shop (Chevaline) and transformed it into a buzzy niche for take-away dishes (Chez Aline). Customers queue for a brief, ever-changing menu of sandwiches, salads and desserts. Yet the item that has created the greatest buzz is Delphine’s jambon-beurre. A sandwich that consists of a baguette slathered with butter and stuffed with ham—that’s it—the jambon-beurre is an anomaly in a city that’s associated with some of the most decadent and over-the-top dishes anywhere in the world. Yet it’s one of the most beloved casse-croûtes (snacks or light meals) among Parisians, inciting strong opinions and loyalties. At Chez Aline, the baking of the baguettes is outsourced to a local baker who bakes them a few minutes longer than usual to obtain a particularly crispy crust. The butter is the salted type, from Normandy, and the ham is made in Paris, without nitrates or preservatives, and is sliced thin so as to melt on the tongue. The result is a sandwich that’s as much about texture—the crunch and spring of the bread, the creamy mouthfeel of the butter, the pull and melt of the ham—as it is about flavor. Know Before You Go There’s a tiny dine-in counter at Chez Aline, otherwise, your jambon-beurre will be wrapped up to-go in waxed paper, a bundle that resembles a giant Tootsie Roll." - Austin Bush

It's a great find!! My choice is always jambon beurre with saint nectaire to-go. On my last day i had to get an emergency sandwish for my meal on the plane back home. And it was the best decision ever.

Google
I saw this place listed as one of the top five spots for Jambon Beurre sandwiches in Paris. After trying it myself, I can definitely say that they use high-quality ingredients. The ham is freshly sliced, the butter is rich, and the bread is crispy. However, while it’s a good sandwich, I personally wouldn’t rank it in my own top five. It’s worth trying, but there are other places I prefer!

Google
Saw this place recommended for a jambon beurre, but was skeptical- like, how good could can a ham sandwich really be? But I was wrong- it was amazing, it was THAT good. Thank you for your kindness and delicious food.

Google
Friendly, consistent, good fillings, no frills. Included is a picture of the tortilla. But you come here for the sandwiches.

The food is genuinely amazing and the staff extremely nice. The jambon beurre sandwich, with or without cheese, is a highlight.

The portions are really small for the price, and the food (we tried a few sandwiches) tastes just ok. Honestly, for what it is, it's not worth it. Service-wise, it’s not that friendly…which is a pity because this shop looks so down to earth. In short, it's not bad, but considering the price and the service, there are much better elsewhere in Paris.

Google
Super place! Go for simple, nit thar most of it isn't. Ham and butter is excellent, purely on quality of ingredients and bread. Anything with chori,o is good too. Line moves fast, so don't be discouraged when it is out the door. Easy access to metro, proprietors speak english!

Google
Fantastic everything here. The ham, cheese, butter sandwich is the best in Paris. If you don’t speak French it’s ok, walk in say Bonjour, and when they switch to English don’t be offended. Ask what they recommend and after you pay, say merci, bonne journée and go enjoy your sandwich.

Yelp
Amazing hole in the wall place. Lots of locals line up for the deliciously simple food. We had no real issues ordering with our broken French. And the server did her best to use some English. Ordered a ham and cheese baguette. It was so chewy and yummy. If you are near by or like a bit of a walk it's totally worth it. Local. Friendly. And just a fun place to visit.

Yelp
What a difference a good ham can make! I order an egg, home-made mayo and salad sandwich with the exquisite "Prince of Paris" ham! The result? One of the best "classic" sandwich I've ever eaten. Add to that a quite decent tortilla (fir some reason, French people seem unable to make a really good tortilla...) and you have a very good lunch. No wonder Chez Aline is considered by many The place to go for a good sandwich
