The 28 Best Restaurants in Quebec City, Canada | Eater

"Meat lovers, this is the place for you. The menu is composed of slow-smoked, grilled, and braised meats served in a shack-like space where the low ceiling is decorated with dollar bills. Bourbon on the rocks and house-made hot sauce on the side are must-haves, especially to accompany the juicy smoked brisket. Book ahead, especially for Friday and Saturday evenings." - Allison Van Rassel

Do not let the facade of this establishment fool you. Inside is an intimately lit room with a small bar off to the corner. Penelope and Gabriel were wonderful hosts and a wealth of knowledge on mixology. I honestly put a lot of the knowledge they were unloading on me into my back pocket. Their expertise in their craft is a marvel to watch and an absolute pleasure to talk to. For dinner, I chose the St Louis ribs paired with Cheval Blanc. The maple syrup and red ale glaze were amazing. The meat fell off the bone as it should. For dessert, carrot cake with an espresso martini as recommended by Gabriel. Sweet and savory and a lot bigger than I expected, half of it definitely came home with me. Overall, 11/10 for the simple fact that every turn, I was blown away by everything. My next visit will definitely have this in the plans. Thank you!

We were absolutely blown away by our experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by warm, welcoming staff and a beautifully dim-lit, cozy atmosphere. Our waiter was phenomenal—he took the time to explain every dish on the menu, making our entire dining experience truly five-star. We opted for the chef’s sampler, and it exceeded all expectations. From the appetizers to the dessert, every bite was incredible. Hands down, one of the best Baroque meals we’ve ever had! I repeat do not miss this Resturant when you’re traveling to Quebec. DO NOT 😀

Fantastic. After you’re done stuffing your face with maple-smoked, coffee-rubbed meat, you’ll be lucky if you can muster a “tabarnak!” You can’t go wrong with your order, everything we tried was made with care and quality ingredients. The beef ribs were our favourite. The dark chocolate crème brûlée with marshmallows sounded suspicious, but turned out to be a highlight. The bloke behind the bar with the compelling moustache provided exceptional service. Truly above and beyond.

Everything BBQ! Salad lovers and vegetarians will not be happy here. I'll recommend the mix sharable plate. They will bring you a lot of different meats and stuff to try. We were 4 people who like to eat, and there were leftovers. Don't judge the restaurant by its cover, front the outside it looks like a shack, but from the inside it's great!!

Google
Omg! Everything! The sampler sharing menu! The brisket, the ribs, the duck, the Mac and cheese, the sweet potatoes, the seafood hush puppies, and OMG, the pork rinds - the very best I have ever had, and I'm a southerner from the US and know what pork rinds should taste like. The maple, red ale beer sauce that coated the pork rinds is to die for. The entire sampler sharing menu is out of this world, Southern US inspired, damn good! I have absolutely nothing but great things to say about this place. The carrot cake is sooo good. It was our favorite over the lemon tart pie. The shot of bourbon with the bacon was a very nice surprise and added touch. The atmosphere is super fun and great. The servers and wait staff are also super fun, tentative, and happy to share all the deliciousness with their customers. If you don't eat meat, this place is not for you! Meat eaters, meat, and BBQ lovers, this place is chef's kiss 💋.

Let's put aside the fact that the food was incredible. The service and the space were both incredible. All the staff greeted us and were talking to us when walking by the table. Our server spent a nice amount of time recommending and just having small talk with us. The ambiance was great as well. Really great experience overall. Will definitely recommend and come back.

The flavours are amazing. What a neat, hole in the wall BBQ shack outside the city. It was perfectly close to where we happened to be staying. I ordered three sides because I needed to get my veggies in. The duck falafel starter was delicious. The whole family loved everything we ordered. The service was friendly, joyful, and excellent.

One of the best eating experiences during my Quebec City trip. The BBQ was fantastic. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. I would eat here again in a heart beat.

Yelp
Being a former Boy Scout there is one thing that I respond or react to without realizing it and that's camp fire smoke. Brings back so many great memories and that's what happens when you walk into Chez Biceps. The wood fire smoke makes your taste buds water. Wait h to the food is placed in front of you,,,wow! The meat on the ribs is massive. Better yet you say 'boo' and the meat falls off the bone. The brisket is to die for...unbelievably moist and tender. Add to that homemade cole slaw with an oil/vinegar base and you have a great combo or sweet and sour in your various plates!! The loaded sweet potato should have been called a desert because it checks those boxes in and of itself. Had to force ourselves to order a side of Poutine which is known as a comfort food in Quebec. Delightful but way too much with all else we ordered. Have to taste when you can and worth every bite. Don't laugh but another 'side' offered is a shot of bourbon with house smoked bacon. Like the Nike ad says, just do it!

Yelp
Best brisket I've ever had! Did not expect to find it in Quebec, but this little hidden restaurant in the suburbs of Quebec makes an unbelievable tasty brisket. It is tender, moist, has a perfect smoke ring and it comes soaked in a perfectly balanced tangy, a bit sweet, a bit salty jus (thin gravy). The ribs were equally tender and tasty. My wife had the chicken and it was juicy and flavorful with a crisp skin. Highly recommend checking this place out. Call ahead and make a reservation if you are planning to go on a weekend.

Yelp
Update hours. Drove 40 minutes and not open. I don't think yelp or google for restaurants times are very accurate

Yelp
Most visitors don't travel to Quebec for BBQ but I'm so happy we went here as it's possibly the best I've had and I've traveled around Texas many a time. We had the sampler plate and the brisket is tender and beautifully flavored. The sausage we shared was excellent and the ribs were fantastic. We shared the sweet potato side, also terrific. We had the beer made by the establishment, also outstanding. For dessert we split a piece of lemon meringue pie. Best we've ever had. The lemon was not too sweet the way it can be and the meringue was cloud-like in delicacy and flavor. Despite eating at other fancier places in Old Quebec, this was our favorite meal. We ate at the bar and the bartender was friendly and even kindly ordered a taxi back for us despite being extremely busy. The decor is authentic Texas roadside bbq. You must make a reservation. The joint was bumping with a mostly local crowd at n a Thursday night in early December.

Yelp
Food & service was good. Everything we ordered were delicious. The only thing I wanted to complain was about I got wrong dessert (lemon meringue pie w/ jam) which I ordered Crème brûlée, lol. They were too busy plus we didn't want to wait any longer. Will come back again!

Yelp
Thank you fellow food bloggers and Yelpers for alerting me to this little BBQ treasure in Quebec! It just a small place, built like a shack, with lots of kitchy BBQ, and American gun decorations all over....very fun and cozy feeling. We first tried to get in here when we arrived Sat night, but were turned away, as they were packed and totally booked for the rest of the night. We were so surprised that a BBQ joint needed reservations, but just from the wonderful smoke and BBQ sauce aromas that hit us when we opened the door, we suspected why. We made reservations for Tues night and returned hungry. We ordered a plate of brisket (4 slices), and plate of pork ribs (4 ribs) a combo plate (2 ribs, 2 brisket slices, and a pork sausage), sweet potato Quebecois style, and for grins..a unique Quebec dish of fried strips of pig fat.(cannot remember the name). OMGx2. I have traveled all over the USA, and this was the best BBQ brisket I have ever had. Melt in your mouth tender, and very juicy, with a perfect BBQ sauce. Hats off to Mr. Biceps, a true BBQ Wizard! The ribs were very delicious too; fall off the bone tender. We really loved the sauce they were basted with, just perfectly balanced sweet, carmely, slightly spicy. The sweet potatoes were simply baked, then served with large crumples of house bacon and creme fresh on top, with some arugala, and a drizzle of truffle oil. I normally am a big fan of truffle oil on anything, but not this time. For me anyway, it was an odd combination. The deep fried strips of pig fat were unique and tasted just like you would think. I can see why that dish is local to only Quebec, as it is certainly an acquired taste. I think that fried pork skins are a much tasterier piggy snack treat. I highly recommend this place if you are in Quebec, and want something different that French or Italian.

Yelp
A good option in the area. Great environment and the staff was very friendly and attentive despite me speaking minimal French. Brisket and pulled pork were very good.

Yelp
AMAZING! Better BBQ than I have had in the states! Chef Vincent Chatigny is a talented and passionate chef. His love for food comes through in each dish. Him and his staff are friendly and hospitable on another level. We went twice and were greeted with warm welcomes and great conversation. Now onto the food... We ate St. Louis style ribs, a decadent mac and cheese with homemade bacon, smoked duck, and baked sweet potato topped with mascarpone, micro greens, and truffle oil. Best BBQ!!!

Yelp
Wow. What an awesome place. I was feeling a bit homesick and sad being away from Michigan for Independence Day. So where can one find good BBQ in Quebec City. Chez Biceps! The staff was very helpful and really went out of their way to make sure we had a good meal. The menu was explained in great detail and the meal enjoyed by all. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Chez Biceps is the restaurant I was most looking forward to dining at on our visit to Quebec City...and it did not disappoint. Amazing bbq and incredible atmosphere, though SJWs will need to come with their guards down and senses of humor in check as gun paraphernalia coats the walls. With its very apparent American influence, Biceps flirts with kitsch but does not cross the line into tackiness. It also stays true to its local culture with plenty of Quebec/Canadian aspects to the menu. Extremely friendly bilingual staff, passionate about the menu and preparation processes. Keep in mind these are good portions, but the emphasis is on quality not quantity. Plates are sized so if you have a large appetite, you can comfortably fit in an appetizer, entre, dessert...and maybe one or two beers + bacon/whiskey shot. Order all of that and you are probably at around $75 with tip. Worth it. Definitely worth it. I particularly recommend the sweet potato starter and, if you're there on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, the Big Rib entre.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant if you are looking to eat stake or tasty meat n fish plates. Drinks are awesome! First time I try a martini with pickles :). Nice vibe and cozy place. Definitely is a must in Quebec City.

Yelp
Second to none, best BBQ I've ever had and Ive had it everywhere in the U.S. it's pricey but no regrets. Left full and happy. Met the owners and will never forget this place.

Yelp
A table of four shared an excellent wine list, With very interesting appetizers of goose liver and brisket, various other treats. The staff was beyond helpful, the food preparation was unique, interesting, with the right edges of flavor. Rustic interior only adds to the overall enjoyment. Ribs, brisket, chicken , and duck, all were presented well! I would go back this place lived up to its YELP and 10 best rating on trip advisor!

Yelp
I was looking for BBQ and found this place, it is a combination of BBQ and Smoked House. Small place, looks interesting from outside, but you will be impressed with the quality, flavor and portions of the food provided. I tried the combination platter, brisket, ribs and sausage, with putine potatoes. At the end, I had to have dessert and tried the grilled pear with ice cream. I was satisfied and the food exceed my expectations. This reminds me my parents teachings of not to judge s book from his cover. I strongly recommend this place.

Yelp
This is THE BEST BBQ I have ever tasted!!! We are on a business trip from Detroit Michigan. Vincent is a masterful chef!! I had the combo: the Beef brisket was the most tender I have ever tasted. Fall off the bone ribs and delicious NOY GREASY sausage. The asparagus and Putin ... Simply AMAZING!!!

Phyllis P.

Yelp
The food was outstanding. The staff really enhanced our experience. A young lady, Michelle Sat down with us and went over the entire French menu and explained it in total in English. This place is so good, you must make reservations a month in advance.

Yelp
We are an American family on vacation in Quebec City. My husband is from Tennessee and really wanted to try this place. We do not eat pork so we ordered the potato salad, the poutine and three orders of beef brisket. When the order was ready (take out) the conversation between the waiter and my husband revealed that ALL items had pork in them (bacon in salad, sauce of poutine and sauce of brisket.). The manager was upset and didn't want to refund or let us order something that did not contain pork. In the end, the professional waiter swapped our 110$ order for three orders of chicken (9 small pieces of chicken), three boxes of fries and coleslaw which comes with every order. This place should be called Chez Ripoff for the small quantity of food that was not equivalent to what we paid for. If you prepare items in a non traditional way, write down an ingredient list for your customers. Very disappointing and unhospitable experience.

Yelp
This is my first ever review for any restaurant! So this should give you a fair idea of how good this place is. The Beef Brisket and Pork Ribs are the best I have ever had! The southern fried chicken was also on point! Jean(one of the owners) is one of the nicest people I have met. He was kind enough, not once but twice, to give us a table without having a reservation. Note - This place gets packed! The staff here are all really nice and warm! They make you feel at home! Hope Jean opens up a branch in Boston soon (though this place is totally worth the drive)!
