The escargot butter was divine, only complaint was not enough bread to soak it up! steak was ok and tasted a bit tough. But the tart was so good! Good wine as well

It felt like being back in Paris. I love relaxing atmosphere here! I've enjoyed 3 course meal. I'll definitely come back again to eat a crepe for desert!

Was a bit skeptical due to some of the other reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. The buckwheat galette was great and comparable to what I tried in Paris and other dishes (especially the soups) were fantastic. They also had cider from Brittany which was lovely.

An absolute treat. Thoroughly recommend. The crepes were amazing, so tasty with the very best ingredients. Staff were lovely and so efficient.

Absolute gem of a restaurant hidden in the heart of Richmond. Authentic cuisine, beautifully presented in an elegant atmosphere that is befitting of royalty. Advance booking is a must as we were incredibly lucky to get seating, even just for the two of us. Would 100% visit again in a heartbeat.

A very average and pretty underwhelming dining experience. Those who praise it so highly need to venture out more and experience really good food and service if they think this place is ‘befitting Royalty’ Here’s what I liked: • I liked that I made the decision not to have a main course. Here’s what I didn’t like: • Not particularly welcoming. • No bread offered. First time in a French restaurant I’ve experienced this. • Uncomfortable seating and not a well thought layout. Why the covid screens still? Unsightly, ineffective and out of place now. • Really disappointing fish soup. Warm, not hot. The croutons were clearly not fresh and from a packet. Lacked crunch. Tiniest portion of cheese and rouille. I’ve hand on heart had better from a jar (and wouldn’t be surprised if this was as well) • The Sea Bass should have been served on a bigger plate and it seems to have been fried and then put in an oven. Average at best but the new potatoes were a tasteless waste of space. • The ‘pomme frites’ were soggy and not particularly crisp. Clearly frozen. Ketchup was some cheap brand and not particularly nice either. • Usual heavy mark up on sparkling water. Overall a disappointment as I had been looking forward to trying this Richmond restaurant. Do I recommend going? NO Will I go again? NO Was it good value? NO Price point: $$

I came here for my birthday, service was spot on and my 1 year old had lots of fun. The seafood is spot on and the French onion soup is very good too so recommend that and the mussels and crab. Surprisingly the grape juice was also a winner - we're glad we got the large pitcher. A good alternative to those who can't/don't want to drink alcohol. My only issue were the mains, my partner ordered steak medium rare but it was more medium. I ordered the duck confit and it looked like it'd be deep fried too much, the outside was dry and stiff. Inside, it wasn't any better, as it was clearly overcooked and very salty! It was almost like eating cured duck. My potatoes were also overly deep fried, very oily. Even with the pickled veg, it was hard to eat. It seems the meat station failed this day as everything else was on point. Very disappointing considering the mains were not cheap. I recommend appetisers but avoid mains as they seem inconsistent.

Wonderful staff and delicious food. I am French and was proud to show my English partner how good French cuisine can be. He really enjoyed the gratin dauphinois which was my favourite dish as a child.

Based on the recommendations of 2 of my mother-in-law's friends, she and I popped in for lunch. We didn't pre-book, but were greeted warmly and led to the table next to the back window. What a view! You overlook the Thames and Richmond Bridge, and it's really lovely. They offer a prix fixe menu along with the standard a la carte, but as the options on the first menu were so nice, we went for 2 courses each and a shared dessert. My Roquefort salad starter was pretty and very tasty and I really enjoyed it. Mom-in-law had the special soup (leek and potato). She said it was delicious but piping hot, and it took quite a while for it to cool down enough for her to eat it. I absolutely love the way the French cook veal, and I was really excited about my veau a Lyonnaise. It was served with scrumptious roasted potatoes. The dish was really good and I nearly felt like I was back in France. Mom-in-law had a buckwheat galette (a Crepe that's folded in on the sides) stuffed with mushrooms, ham and cheese. The buckwheat flavour added something really special to this dish - it was great. We decided to split a citron Crepe for pudding and it was delicious too. Our server was pleasant and friendly, the view was beautiful and the food was great.

We came here for a work dinner a few weeks ago with a large group - close to 30 people - so we utilized their upstairs private room. It was quite cozy in that we had too many people for what the room should have held, but the serving team still did a nice job and everyone had an enjoyable experience. To start I had their French Onion soup, followed by their baked chicken entrée and crème brulee for dessert. All of the food was nicely prepared and delicious.

Decent French food. Nothing special and beyond, good neighbourhood bistro. They have a private dining room upstairs you can hire for special occasions. Good view of the river from up there!

A lovely most wonderful little French bistro in beautiful Richmond. Great view of the river out of the window. Love the comfy living-room like group seating area with cushions. The price and service are both friendly, and their crepe (super complete) is amazing, as is the French cider. A really down-to-earth, tastefully decorated place.

A shared starter of crudités was impeccable, and we both had panaché de fruits de mer for a main course, a mouth-watering collection of roasted fish in delicious thin sauce, all washed down with Baussac Viognier. Dessert was an excellent crème brulee for pud. Service was flawless. An outstanding meal, all for about £50 a head including wine; we'll definitely be going back as soon as we can.

A wonderful French restaurant located on the upper side of Richmond with wonderful views across to the River Thames. This is simply somewhere that you need to take you Mum and Dad to treat them as it will earn you massive brownie points and you will being doing your duty and looking after them and showing them some love (as you have to now and again). They do French so don't expect anything else- French wines, French service and French food. I have to say that I love it although being a heathen, I do have to argue with them about having my steak on the well done side. There speciality dish is pancakes and these appear to go down well but I found the menu to be far more encompassing than that and being a meat would lead me down another avenue. Classy, smart and always busy, this is definitely a place to go for the brownie points, to say that you have or indeed just because you can.

The service was very friendly, although slo-o-o-o-w, when I came here recently with a friend from SW France. We shared a fantastique seafood platter, fresh and tasty, as can be - accompanied by a wonderfully fragrant white wine. Perfect if you want a lo-o-o-ng leisurely meal and a good catch-up but perhaps not ideal if it's some speedy fast fuel you're after. The seafood platter is a treat, both in terms of taste and price, although there is something here for all budgets; at lunchtime, especially, you can enjoy a real bargain repas and, in the evening, the prix fixe menu is tantalising and good value. I must go back soon!

Nice little French restaurant in Richmond, opposite the Odeon, with a long narrow room that was perhaps a bit too much on the intimate side when a party of 10 is talking loudly in the middle of the room. I'm sure it's perfectly fine when there's a maximum of four covers per table. Apparently the cuisine on offer is from Brittany. This translated into a seafood-tastic menu (although there's plenty of choice for the less aquatically minded): my 'seafood casserole' of red gurnard, sea bream, mackerel, lobster, mussels, langoustine, potatoes, and vegetables was heavenly. Galettes (buckwheat pancakes) are the speciality here, although I didn't taste one myself. A bit on pricey side for a regular lunch (although the galettes are more lunch wallet friendly), it's still nice for an occasional treat or dinner. As far as French cuisine goes, La Buvette (about 5 minutes walk away) would be my choice for dinner, with Chez Lindsay for lunch. That said, I guess both restaurants would be incredibly offended at the comparison, since La Buvette is very much more classical French cuisine compared to Chez Lindsay's Brittany style.

People may tell you to visit Chez Lindsey for their famous crepes or "galettes" but there are other typically French items on the menu...such as snails! The galettes are really delicous and filling. Try the one with roquefort and leeks. The wine is a bit pricey but there are some nice French beers too such as Meteor from the Alsace Lorraine region. If you're lucky enough you may get a table by the open windows looking out over the river. On an evening the candlelit atmosphere is cosy and if you want it to be; romantic! The head waiter always gives good service, taking your coat off with a flourish etc but I have experienced a slightly more cold French welcome from some of the waiters..don't let it put you off, an entente cordiale was soon reached on receipt of a smile. Note: check your bill, sometimes they leave things off and sometimes add things on!

Great French restaurant in Richmond. It has very good food, very French service staff (they speak to you in French, and expect you to try and communicate back in French) and a cosy atmosphere. I've only ever been there for lunch (£8+) on a weekday, but it feels like more of a dinner place. The wine and drinks tend to be on the slightly expensive side (e.g. I wouldn't think French cider would be so costly). Would happily eat my way through the menu. Everyone raves about the authentic crepes, but I'd rather eat the proper mains (steak, seafood, etc).

Chez Lindsay is my favourite retaurant in Richmond by some margin. It's great value, and does a cracking range of Breton dishes - which means crepes, lovely dry cider in earthenware cups, and excellent seafood. The oysters here are out of this world, the mussels are excellent. For a main I really like the foie de veux with mash and peas. If you want to come for lunch you can get a crepe for around 3-5 pounds too. It's very friendly, very French, and very laid back. Recommended.

I've been coming to this restaurant now for over 10 years and have never been let down. It's upmarket without being intimidating, food is great and service comes with a smile. The galette are a must. Melt in the mouth deliciousness!

This is a great place if you fancy a french style crepe in an unpretentious environment. This is the real mccoy with french staff throughout. The food is tasty, reliable fare - good for a family meal or a quick evening out, Most of the time the service is friendly though we have also encountered flashes of grumpiness which would rival the surliest Parisian waiter. Decor is airy and simple.

I found "Chez Lindsay" very family unfriendly. Earlier this evening my sister, 4month old baby and I went into "Chez Lindsay" for dinner. After waiting ten minutes to be seen a member of staff instantly noticed that we had a baby in a pram and decided there were no tables available when there were plenty. I was disappointed by her attitude and asked to speak to the Manager. She violently explained that she is the Owner and that there is no place for us. After expressing dismay in her behaviour she started screaming at me and being very offensive and pointing her face in front of me. My sister and I extremely disgusted and shocked by such behaviour as it wasn't warranted. I wouldn't recommend any parents with babies to go this restaurant..... its horrific

We chanced upon this place for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon after riding round Richmond ark. The restaurant is small but has lots of character. As we were the only people in the restaurant the chef or owner came out to speak to us which was nice. Our friend was a vegetarian so she help him with the menu. I ordered a fish platter as a main and onion soup to start. The soup was really nice, lovely big croutons with cheese. Delicious. The main was pretty nice as well but a lot of the fish tasted quite...er...fishy. I like my fish to be so fresh that it doesn't have that fishy taste. I thought the fish itself wasn't cooked brilliantly (the salmon could have had a crispier skin). I also ordered dessert (greedy me!) or creme brulee which was great. Overall I enjoyed the experience - we had a lovely view of the river. I've eaten better french food though, I actually prefer Cafe Rouge! Sorry guys!

one of the waiters talks so much that half an hour is gone and you still haven't gotten a chance to take a look at the menu food is good service is veeeery slow and toilets are unacceptable as to their condition but at least clean pear cider a must have

I am French and I frequently go there to eat traditional food (especially les galettes as I am from Bretagne region). Service and food are good. Good location.
