Chez Roux

Went for dinner to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. Food was 10/10, would highly recommend the Welsh rarebit and the beef fillet (the peppercorn sauce is delicious) The service was outstanding and never failed to impress. A lovely atmosphere where you felt looked after and not overly busy.

Dinner for the opening of Michel Roux Jr new restaurant Chez Roux. Located in the hotels Palm Court dining room. This is the first restaurant venture since the closure of his world renowned Le Gavroche. Coincidentally our last visit there was the last time we visited London. When we heard the news about this opening,we just had to book it immediately. Before the meal we ventured into Artesian which is their four time winner of worlds best bar for a couple of cocktails. Then we headed to our table in the very beautiful dining room. Once seated we had a look at the all new menu for the first time. You can choose between A la Carte or a tasting menu which we decided on. After a snack and bread we were served the Welsh Rarebit which was a mistake and a result for us. The first course was Salmon Rillettes followed by a delightful Cornish Lemon Sole. Next is what we thought was the star of the show. A most delious tender Beef fillet that just melted in the mouth. The cheese course was Stilcheton from Nottinghamshire & Pitchfork cheddar. Dessert of Creamy vanilla rice pudding is prepared for serving at the table. It's like no other we have had before. We had an incredible evening, even though the service was a little haphazard. But that was to be expected for the opening night. The twins were there to keep everyone on their toes and made sure the service kept flowing. While Michel was going from each table making people have pics with him.

Not roux standard by any means. Maybe there will never be another 🥲

Je m’étais fait une fête d’aller dans cet endroit tenu par un chef français. Autant le décorum est fort sympathique autant les plats étaient plus que moyen. Je m’attendais en tant que « goûteur » de plusieurs restaurants à vraiment autre chose. Les plats sont bien exécutés mais vraiment peu de saveurs. Heureusement que le service de Mariana a rattrape l’expérience. En bref, pas de d’ambiance et expérience plus que moyenne donc …

What an awful Experience for breakfast. Service was non existent and food was not up to or with the standards that langham holds. The buffet bar was so limited and consisted of either sugar or raw meat. Our experience started when we invited a friend over to meet us at the hotel restaurant (which was this) for breakfast. We ordered porridge and just a simple salmon Benedict for our guests. The porridge was filled with heavy cream after telling he waitress that we wanted it dairy free . I ordered a vegan gluten-free plate which they said they would be more than accommodating to make and the waitress listed off items that sounded phenomenal but by the time I plate showed up, there was just steamed spinach, small side of beans, and nothing of which they promised because the waitress never informed me that the things she recommended are neither vegan nor gluten-free. We asked repeatedly for hot teas, orange juice and water which we never received. So I ended up getting up and going to one of the side counters where there was a jar of water and brought it back to the table and filled it myself. Go else where for breakfast if you are staying at the hotel.

What a dining experience! If I were to have a last meal, this would be the place I would have it! The meal is less expensive than some of the other michelin star restaurants, but the quality is higher in my opinion. We reserved our spot weeks in advance, and it was pretty busy. It caters to the business class, so lots of suits here. We had the 5 course meal which was amazing. I don't think I could ever find a restaurant that offers this level of food. Anytime that I am in London, I will definitely return.

Epic value for money with the £45 set menu. Three courses, plus coffee and a half bottle of wine. Immaculate service as always from a Roux restaurant. No supplement for cheese either. So so good.

This is a very fine restaurant in London. The service, food, and ambiance is very classy. I was here for a birthday celebration dinner; we selected the dinner tasting menu with wine pairings. Our three waiters who waited on us were just gracious and very attentive, explaining each of the dishes and the wines that were paired with them. My favorite dish was the Denham estate venison which was just divine paired with a Côte de Luberon wine. We requested the venison to be cooked medium, it was succulent, velvety, and the cherries and sauce was a great complement to bringing sweet notes to the dish. Dessert was my second favorite it was a bitter chocolate millefeuille with salted golden pecans, and such a grand explosion on culinary ecstasy and a glorious a way to end the dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I am looking forward to the next opportunity to experience their culinary artistry the next time I am in London.

Atmosphere and restaurant are very elegant, the food was great, but the desserts are the real experience! I absolutely loved the Paris brest and the lemon cream

This was an excellent restaurant. It is located in the Langham Hotel. I also went to the bar and had an excellent Belvedere Martini to start. Right from the hostess to the entry hall on the way to the restaurant, everything was top notch. The glass encased wine cellar is amazing, showcasing some beautiful blue chip wines. The dining space is large and roomy with high ceilings and beautiful Asian inspired lacquered art on the walls. Dinner was splendid. Everything was perfectly prepared and extremely fresh. Amuse Bouche: An array of small bites, including beef tartar, salmon mouse and something else which unfortunately slipped my mind. Appetizer: Seared spiced pork jowl and poached lobster with Tokyo turnips, coriander and corral vinaigrette. --- AMAZING combination. The pork jowl was delicious and the lobster was perfectly poached. The turnips had no bitterness..they were lovely baby vegetables. Main Course: Roast wild sea bass with globe artichoke barigoule and arbiquina olive oil -- SUPERB! The sea bass was perfectly cooked, excellent carmalization on the outside and wonderfully moist inside. The accompaniments were lively, fresh and utterly divine. We did not order dessert, but were brought an array of pettifors which were delightful. I would definitely like to return.

Where am I? This is not English service! It's fairly rare that restaurants make you feel like royalty and impress you with the ambience - this is one of those ones. I went for a pre-theatre meal at the restaurant and enjoyed the meal immensely - superbly cooked lamb and fantastic desserts. By far the best feature for me was the impeccable service and the chance to have an intimate conversation. This would be a perfect place to have a business lunch, or to take someone special - but just watch out - it's not for the faint hearted spenders!

Four stars seems unfair but I just can't rate this quite as highly as Gavroche (Roux's other baby) or my favourite Chez Bruce. It's a four and a half. It just wasn't quite special enough. We went on a remarkably good value toptable deal, 3 courses plus champagne (normally £15 a glass on its own) for £30. We ate at 6pm - an odd time, but since the deal was on, the restaurant had quite a few tables full. I imagine that's the point! The entraceway is great, with a 'wine corridor' right after the area they take your coats. The room itself is lovely - very Mad Men. Lounge piano, massively high ceilings, impeccably laid up tables. The service is also top notch, the waiters being both efficient and very friendly rather than stand-offish, which I always like. The guy with the cheese trolley seemed very nervous - perhaps it was his first cheese trolley day - but he smiled and was helpful. And so to the food - my starter was an egg. A beautifull cooked (soft fried) egg, with some delicious merguez sausage and a harissa dressing. My dining partner had an interesting sardine dish with slightly off-putting presentation - fish skelton sticking out. I do applaud he ability to so perfectly fillet a sardine, but it was a bit odd! My main of confit duck was good, but not outstanding. Perhaps that's just because if you confit a duck, it's always delicious - even I can make that taste good - but I was expecting something special. Gnocchi light as a feather but the whole dish slightly overpowered with pecorino. My boyfriend's chicken was jus 'nice' - again a little disappointing. His favourite bit was the spinach! As always, I went mental for the cheese trolley which was, of course, fantastic. The wine list is as you'd expect extensive, and my glass of grenache delicious - i've realised I keep my red about 5 degrees off the perfect temperature (of course it's that, not that I buy cheap genache :-)) The freebie champagne was delicious. Poor points: the sundae for dessert looked unbelievably stunning, in its own ice bucket, but tasted odd. Citrus and praline flavour ice cream? Nope, didn't do it for me. Perhaps seperately, but in one mouthful too much. And milk foam is not a thing, unless it's on a capuccino. Get rid! Finally the petit fours were not nice. I was quite shocked - we really didn't like them. One was just a blob of marmelade with some not-crunchy popcorn on. Sad face - the best thing I have ever eaten in my life was a petit four (as Gidleigh Park, in case you want to make a pilgrimage!) so I had high hopes. All in all, we did have a lovely dinner, impeccably served. But for the full price, I'd probably rather go and try somewhere new than return, which is a shame.

The restaurant is inside The Langham Hotel, and can be got to either through the main entrance or via a side entrance on the corner directly opposite Broadcasting House. The interior is subdued, but very elegant and relaxed. I went for a private party in the side room, but I think my comments will hold for the main dining area. An exceptional meal. Absolutely flawless dishes beautifully flavoured, textured and presented. I did not get to choose the wines, but of the five we had 3 were very good and two were 'unusual' in the sense of being not mainstream and very good indeed. The Somelier is passionate about wines and will happily talk you through his cellar. Gracious attendant staff. And they have a lunch special, so no excuses, try it. A fourth visit at Lunchtime, now Michael Roux is involved, was also excellent.

We had Christmas dinner there and had an amazing experience. The staff was spot on and the food was excellent. The only complaint is how long it took to get and pay the bill. While I appreciate not being rushed, we had to ask 3 times to get the bill so we could leave.

Monday night is the new Friday night right?? Well when you have a good deal of £35 for 3 courses & a glass of wine at a prestigious restaurant like Roux at the Landau, Monday night is as good a night as any to try it out! Also it's official - Monday night is martini night ;) except the girls didn't get the memo - they were interested in trying out the more unusual cocktails in the Artesian bar at the Langham whilst waiting for me: I honestly have no idea what most of their cocktails were, Lauren enjoyed her 'woodland pool' (her words!) complete with mushrooms and pine needles; and Catherine's cocktail was hidden in a brass pineapple! When we got into the restaurant I was happy to be with the girls - we brought our own atmosphere.... Basically there is a reason why the deal is only available at certain times on certain days midweek, the restaurant was fairly empty and the few people there seemed to be staying at the hotel. So what about the food? Nom!! (Obviously!) I had the confit rabbit leg - perfectly cooked and falling off the bone - amazing with the gorgeous soft cheesy polenta, I wouldn't have normally put that combination together, but now I want to try more polenta. There was also a lamb main with haggis bon bons, the lamb was pink - perfectly cooked. For dessert a couple of the girls had the coconut mousse - those that chose this were happy - I'm not a huge fan of coconuts.... All the food was gorgeously presented and happily tasty. We felt pleasantly full, not over-stuffed, or cheated, a good portion size! The cheese selection for those that had it (myself included!) was amazing too. Well worth a mid week visit, a good time was enjoyed by all!

We went here on Friday night and had the 3 course set menu (£45, including half a bottle of wine and coffee with petit fours). This menu is only available early evening, so we had to have a 5.30pm booking which is much earlier than I'd usually eat. I was expecting we would have a two hour limit on the table, but suprisingly we weren't at all rushed which was great. Having said this, the service was sometimes on the slow side - we had quite a long wait between courses and had to ask the waiter a couple of times to bring the wine (we ended up leaving the restaurant at 9.30pm, which is probably the longest time I've spent having a 3-course meal!). I've been to the sister restaurant Roux at Parliament Square, and found the service at Parliament Square much better (it was faultless at Parliament Square). The food was great, as I expected it to be. I had a pea soup to start, which was served with some beautiful little cheese croquettes on the side. I then had guinea fowl, succulent and juicy with crisp skin. My dessert was an ammeretto cheesecake, and then we had some lovely light little choux parties with the coffee. Again, I thought that the food was a bit better at the Parliament Square restaurant, which is perhaps becuase I had the tasting menu there. However for the set menu we had, Roux at the Landau was great value and I would still recommend it.

Lovely place for breakfast at the Langham. There is a cold continental buffet, which has items like smoked salmon, charcuterie, pastries, cheese, and fruit, as well as juices, tea and coffee, and toast. There's also the option to order à la carte items, such as eggs, bacon, sausages, etc. The buffet is perfect fare for a light breakfast; I tried the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs plate and it was quite good, especially if you feel like having more hearty food for breakfast. Do confirm which restaurant to eat at if they mention complimentary breakfast, as the Palm Court also serves breakfast (their buffet has more hot items, but was not complimentary for our stay).

Special occasion for my wife's 70th birthday. Last night of a 3 night trip from Denver, Colorado. What a wonderful experience & meal. Service was top notch & the food exceed our expectations. Price was well within reason for the quality of food & service.

Easily my favorite restaurant in London. During the particular day's activities, I totally lost track of time and did not have time to dress appropriately for dinner. While I apologized profusely for my jeans and dress shirt, this turned out to be no problem. The staff treated us tremendously and no different from those dressed in sports coats and ties. While other Americans later showed up in t-shirts, I would definitely not recommend such casual attire. My wife and I had the five-course prix fixe dinner with wine pairing, which was simply great. They even accommodated my aversion to peanuts, which I readily admitted was not an allergy, but a preference.

Even with no reservation and a late arrival, the staff was courteous and very welcoming. We had the chef's menu with selection of wine. One of the best dinners I have had in London during my summer. Thoroughly pleasing, surprising, and delicious. One of my friends wanted to substitute the lamb course for a steak, and the kitchen was very accommodating in her request. The atmosphere, hospitality, and superb service takes this 4.5 star food to a 5 stars. Granted we ordered the chef's 5 course menu, however the other patrons who left earlier seemed to have enjoyed their time as well.

Been many times and the food has always been delectable, the tasting menu is always fantastic. Tip: do not let a single item you usually dislike put you off the tasting menu many items are transformed beyond recognition

Surprised my friend and took her here for her 50th birthday. I told the Hostess about my plan to surprise my friend. She was in on the plan. They accommodated my gluten-free needs and they have the best Malbec. We did the tasting menu and everything was amazing including the scallops, burrata cheese and even the starters that they brought in that I couldn't identify. And they all came out in perfect timing. The highlight of the night was the steak. Oh my gosh, the best steak I've ever had in my life. Tasty, tender and melt in your mouth goodness. I ate everything. They also brought in a couple of desserts and for their surprise dessert, they brought some chocolate truffles with a happy birthday candle. I was so happy coz I thought they forgot about my request. After we paid for our meal, they brought each one of us a box of chocolates to bring home. Marianna was our server and I love, love her. She was very attentive that I gave her additional tip and a hug when we were leaving . Best place to celebrate anything!!! Would definitely come back when I visit London.

Great lunch to celebrate a birthday. Had the set lunch, which is great value. We had a 5 year old in our group and they were awesome with her. Would recommend.

I had such a lovely lunch here! It's very chic and upscale, and a perfect spot if you're going for a business lunch. The menu is great but the seafood is divine. You must finish with the creme brulee :).Wine list is pretty solid and the service is great. I would really love to come back for dinner!

Beautiful setting for fine city dining .food is exquisite and the wine list .......all Is impeccably varied. It was company dinner so we had a set menu, am not sure you can order the same on a regular night but I can say a unique dining place for special occasions. I also had breakfast there being a hotel guest, It was a WOW but would not repeat it . I would never pay 30£ for breakfast no matter what.

What an experience at this wonderful restaurant, only downfall was for the trainee waiter to spill all the tray of drinks for another table over me. Before this all happened at the end of the night the starter and main course were fabulous and presented exquisitely. The flavours are wonderful and you could enjoy it over and over again. As I stated earlier in the post my only disappointment was the tray of drinks being spilt, I cannot fault how quickly they dealt with the situation and the aftercare they provided, including giving me a new shirt and dry cleaning my dirtied shirt for me. They tried their up most to ensure the evening was not ruined, with dessert and dessert wine being on the house. I was stuffed after this meal, but would definitely go back again and hope the waiter has learnt how to deliver a tray of drinks :).

We had the Sunday brunch "buffet," but it was disappointing. The appetizer selection wasn't as extensive as we'd hoped, and neither of us eat oysters. The bread and butter, melon and proscuitto was very good, but nothing else really stood out. Our mains were just so-so. We'd tried the pasta and the lamb shank. The lamb was pulled apart and presented inside a vegetable. I didn't think it tasted good at all and was a bit dry. My pasta was very rich and there were barely any mushrooms in it. I didn't feel I could finish it, so I asked for it to be boxed up to go, but to my surprise the waitress refused. She said hot food cannot be taken home, which is ridiculous. It's a main that I paid for as part of the meal. So essentially most of it was wasted. Completely insane for the restaurant to claim that I might kill myself by re-heating pasta later at home. The dessert selection was better than the appetizers or mains. The coffee and tea were very good. All in all I would not return for the Sunday brunch. I still can't believe they refused to box up my main -- food that I paid for.

We had an early evening supper here a couple of Tuesday's ago and it turned out to be a very pleasant school night treat. B had booked the dinner deal which is currently available Monday to Wednesday if you eat at 6.30 or after 9.30. For £47.50 you get three courses, a couple of glasses of wine, water, coffee and petite fours. There is a lunch deal available Monday to Friday at the same price with half a bottle of wine per person. We arrived at 6.30 and received a warm, friendly welcome as we deposited our coats and bags. The large main room was pretty empty as we took our table but it soon filled up during our meal. It's an attractive, in a grown up kind of way, room with high ceilings, subtle lighting, crisp white linen and plenty of space between the tables. For a very romantic evening there are a couple of recessed nooks which are a bit more private. I liked the fact that the staff knew that we had booked the deal and presented us with a menu that had a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts. No attempt was made to up sell to the main menu and we were certainly not made to feel like we were on a cheap deal by any of the friendly staff who looked after us very well all evening. Everything we ate from the amuse bouche of chorizo stuffed deep fried olives to our final course of cheese was skilfully prepared and beautifully presented. The main course portions are a decent size and you will feel well fed by the time you get to your coffee and petite fours. A nice touch was that extra coffee was offered rather than needing to be requested. The wines on offer with the deal were all pretty decent. We both had a glass of Pinot Blanc to go with our oak smoked salmon starter which was a good combination. I moved onto a glass of Rioja Crinanza which was really very nice and brought out the best in the flank of beef I was having as my main. All in all this was a very pleasant evening, with some very tasty food at a decent price in a high end setting. While I will not be rushing back I would definitely make a return visit.

This restaurant is airy, spacy and very bright due to natural sunlight that pours through the curved windows at the front. However I am not overly keen in how the tables have been laid out and the tables in a curved type booth are nice but not overly private as the staff tend to use the side tables that is attached to them all the time be it speaking to each other or sorting out peoples meals on them. The staff also are a tad annoying as they are constantly speaking to each other (other members of staff) around the tables. I asked to be sat next to a window or wall at time of my booking but unfortunately I was not sat near either in fact in the middle of the restaurant, why? I don't know as the restaurant was practically empty all night. I also was disappointed by my visit as I went along for my birthday and day before I got a call saying that they have a extra surprise for me but it never happened I just received a signed menu from M Roux which I knew about few weeks prior to my dining. I love the plates white, clean, warm and beautiful (Wedgewood). The food however is very nice the presentation is simple so don't expect a fancy piece of art but is laid out nicely, the food is top quality and very fresh however even though the portion size was quite good I would of like some potatoes or vegetable served along with my seabass rather than one thin layer of courgette. Even though food was excellent I would not return as I did not like the manner of the staff and the way the restaurant is laid out. I still give this place 4 stars though as the food is top quality.

Excellent food and service. Salmon appetizer was awesome. It was tender, flaky, and had unique taste - slightly smokey. Pea soup was awesome. Duck confit was a bit dry. The manager personally came and apologized. John Dory entree had a delicate mustard based sauce. Ice cream & sorbet were great. We had some parfait for dessert, which was great as well. Will go back. We want to try their sister restaurant - La Gavroche.

Lovely lunch on a £35/head deal including champagne. Slick service, relaxed atmosphere. Very good food although I've had slightly better on similar deals-no complaints though. I'd told them about my gluten intolerance when booking and they had prepared an alternative pudding which was very similar to my dining partner-nice touch. Only thing to make it better would have been gluten free rolls instead of gluten free toast (that I had to ask for).
