"In this small neighbourhood restaurant, chef Marina pays homage to the iconic dishes of her island, such as Su Filindeu, a type of pasta in broth formed by very thin threads (the name means “threads of God”), stacked in three criss-crossed layers: it is a complex preparation that requires great skill. Originally from the Nuoro area, this talented cook's menu focuses mainly on inland dishes; nevertheless, two or three fish specialities are always on the menu." - Michelin Inspector

We had an amazing time here at ChiaroScuro, usually I’m not a fan of Sardinian cousin but I have to say for the way everything was it made me definitely reconsider! Everything was superb, we trued around 9 different dishes, each bringing a different perspective to the traditional Sardinian food I was used to. Most of the dishes bring a touch of our natural flora, reminding of the smells of Sardinia countryside and macchia Mediterranea. My top recommendation would be spaghetto alla bottarga, very delicate and creamy, and the maialetto in oliocottura, which combine crunchiness and tenderness spectacularly. Regarding desert we only tried the Macchia which combined very nice aromas from one of the most iconic Sardinian plants. Overall 100% recommended and really a hidden gem in this town.

Maybe because we had a pretty high expectation but the restaurant was pretty so so. Nothing wrong with it. In fact it’s quite creative but for the price, we expected a bit more I guess. We wanted to try Su filindeu pasta and I kind of understand why this has not spread all over the world like some other pastas 🤷🏻‍♀️ Escargot (starter) was quite good.

ChiaroScuro is a Sardinian culinary masterpiece! During my visit, I was blown away by the variety and excellence of every dish I tried. Each plate was a work of art, blending Sardinian tradition with modern creativity: • Pane Frattau: A beautiful and flavorful start, rich and perfectly balanced. • Quaglia (Quail): Tender and flavorful, cooked to perfection. • Fileu: A delightful handmade pasta dish showcasing incredible textures and flavors. • Cervello (Brain): Unique and perfectly executed, a dish that truly highlights the chef’s skill. • Sebada: The classic Sardinian dessert, perfectly fried and paired with aromatic honey. • Cannolo: A sweet surprise, crispy and filled with creamy goodness. • Minestrone: Comforting and hearty, with fresh, local ingredients. • Stecco: A fun and creative dessert to finish off an amazing meal. The service was impeccable, with staff who were knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the food. The ambiance added to the experience—a cozy yet elegant setting perfect for savoring such exquisite dishes. ChiaroScuro is not just a restaurant but an experience, and it’s worth every moment and every bite. Highly recommended for anyone in Cagliari looking for the best of Sardinian cuisine with a twist! Bravo to the entire team—I will absolutely be back! 👏

Nice food and heart behind the menu but the service was a little awkward even though we were the only people in the restaurant- the waiter was on her phone a lot and we had to beg her attention. The front of the restaurant has sliding doors and bright lights like a cheap cafe. They brought a special candle for my husband's birthday which was much appreciated. Quite expensive which would be ok if the service matched.

ChiaroScuro di Marina Ravarotto, a real gem 💎 restaurant in Cagliari ChiaroScuro di Marina Ravarotto is a hidden gem that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity. Located on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, this small neighborhood restaurant pays homage to Sardinia’s iconic dishes. Let me highlight some of their exquisite offerings: Raviolo ripieno di melanzana affumicata, pomodori arrosto e zucchina: Imagine delicate ravioli filled with smoky eggplant, roasted tomatoes, and zucchini. The flavors dance on your palate, leaving you craving more. Couscous, peperoni arrosto, fiore sardo e bresaola di bue di razza sardo modicana: A harmonious blend of textures and tastes. The couscous, paired with roasted peppers, Sardinian cheese (fiore sardo), and bresaola from the local Sardo Modicana cattle, is a symphony of Mediterranean goodness. Tataki di manzo: Brace yourself for super-tender beef tataki. The thinly sliced, seared beef is a masterpiece, served with precision and flair. And let’s not forget the impeccable service! The staff at ChiaroScuro ensures that every guest feels welcomed and pampered. In our case, it was the Sommelier and he had a real deep knowledge on wines but also in local products. It was enriching talking to him. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this restaurant promises an unforgettable dining experience. I wonder how long it will take until they receive a Michelin star 🌟 the Bib gourmand from Michelin was already given 2024. My conclusion, definitely a star 🌟

I was really excited to try one of the latest Bibs in Cagliari, but sadly I didn’t love it. The ambiance, lighting and design could be improved, but it was the food that was really lacking. The ideas were incredibly interesting. Reinterpreted tradition with a twist. I wish that flavours matched the creativity. Service was efficient but felt more robotic than it should be.

We had an amazing anniversary dinner at Chiaroscuro. Excellent quality, Sardinian cuisine with a modern touch. We tried su filindeu, one of the most rare pasta to find, made by the chef herself. We loved every plate: we tried the egg, the tongue, lados with pork ragù, the filindeu, the chocolate ravioli and the aranzada in modern version (aranzada to die for). The service and attention to customer is exceptional, and the prices are extremely honest for the quality you get. The interior is also nicely decorated. Looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu! Best wishes to the chef for continued success, very deserved

A small, cozy and botiquy restaurant, which pays a high level of attention to details. The dishes are plated beautifully and the food itself is just as tasty :) The chef sends complimentary side dishes as you progress in your meal, which is a nice and generous touch.
