I recently had a very unpleasant experience at Chicken Feastin on Gates Ave, which I feel compelled to share, as this kind of service is unacceptable, especially in a neighborhood that supports its local businesses.
I went in to order a shrimp bowl, but upon placing my order, I asked a simple question about what comes in the burrito bowl. The last time I had ordered, they had added avocado, which wasn’t listed on the menu and certainly wasn’t something I requested. This time, I wanted to be sure about what exactly would be included in the bowl, so I asked for clarification. To my surprise, the man behind the counter snapped at me, saying, “Can’t you read?” This level of rudeness was shocking, considering I was just trying to ensure I got what I wanted—especially after a previous mistake.
Despite this, I calmly proceeded to specify that I didn’t want beans, avocado, or tomatoes in my bowl. I double-checked my order to avoid any confusion.
However, once I got home and opened my food, I found beans in the bowl—something I explicitly asked not to be included. Frustrated, I called the restaurant to address the issue. Instead of an apology or any attempt to correct the mistake, the man on the phone rudely responded with, “Maybe you’re the problem.”
This attitude was infuriating. I had to remind him that I live in the neighborhood, and local customers like me are the reason his restaurant is in business. Instead of taking that seriously, he arrogantly replied, “Don’t worry, we’ll have more customers.”
It’s extremely disheartening to be treated like this, especially by a business that relies on its local community for support. Not only was my order wrong, but the disrespectful attitude and lack of accountability were completely uncalled for. If this is how they treat their regulars, I shudder to think how other customers are handled.
I will not be returning, and I would caution others to reconsider dining here unless they’re prepared to deal with rude staff and incorrect orders. There are plenty of other businesses in the area that understand the importance of customer service and deserve our support.
