The Best Things Infatuation SF Writers Ate In May 2025 - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Side A is a bistro and coffee shop in the Mission, and one of the most exciting places to eat in the city. Yes, there are live DJ sets. And yes, there are great house wines. But don’t let all of that distract you from the chicken cutlet. It’s a massive slab of golden-brown meat, swimming in a honey mustard sauce that’s dotted with hazelnuts and a sprinkling of herbs, and you need it now. Reservations open up on Resy 14 days in advance at midnight. You can walk in and sit at the bar, and they save the sidewalk tables for wine and appetizers while you wait." - julia chen 1, patrick wong, julia chen 1, patrick wong, julia chen 1, patrick wong, julia chen 1, julia chen 1, patrick wong, patrick wong, patrick wong, julia chen 1, patrick wong, julia chen 1, patrick wong, julia chen 1, patrick wong

Chicken Guy - Review - Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Someone change the sign: Hollywood is now Flavortown. Guy Fieri has opened a new location of his fast-casual fried chicken chain Chicken Guy on Hollywood Boulevard, right near the Walk of Fame (FYI, there’s another location at LAX). Expect chicken sandwiches, tenders, milkshakes, and—what caught our eye— unique dip options like Nashville hot honey and the signature “Donkey Sauce.” We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Cathy Park

Chicken Guy! totally exceeded my expectations. The chicken tenders were crispy, juicy, and seasoned just right but the real star for me was the fried pickles. They were perfectly crunchy, tangy, and addictive. Easily some of the best fried pickles I’ve had anywhere. The variety of sauces is amazing too so many flavors to try, and they pair perfectly with everything on the menu. The staff was super friendly, and service was quick even though it was busy. If you're in Hollywood and craving some top-notch comfort food, Chicken Guy! is a must-visit. Definitely don’t skip the fried pickles they’re a game-changer!

I love chicken guy. I’ve always had good experiences every time I come here since they’ve open I’ve been on the rewards program and I’ve already gotten several Fri things each time today I got a birthday reward. My birthday is not until next week, but it hit the spot. I’ve always wanted to try those mint shakes. I had to pay a dollar extra for the different flavor, but it was really good. I do miss the truffle sauce for the fries and I would like to try their mac & cheese over all the service is always great. The guys are always friendly and it’s always a good environment.

Visiting L.A. for a little mini-moon get away. Happened across this place while hitting up a main attraction for us. It was pretty good. We ordered the chili oil chicken sandwich and the banana pudding shake. The fries were fresh. Nice and crispy, with a dense but soft chewy center. Kind of a mix between McDonald's and In-and-out fries. Pretty good. The chicken sandwich was yummy. While the patties were two different sizes, think it's because they were chicken tenders stacked on top of each other. The chicken was cooked well. Nice crispy batter and a juicy meat. However the thing that stole the show was the coleslaw. While there was some chili oil drizzled on the chicken, it was mostly in the slaw. That slaw was finger licking good. Which is opposite of what it should have been. Still a decent sandwich. Would come back to try out another sandwich the next time we're in the area. The banana pudding shake was according to my wife, very sweet. Given that it's a banana pudding shake. Kind of figured it would be sweet, but she felt it was a bit much. However she did say it had a nice rich flavor and still drank it all (minus some excess whip cream) Again, overall a fun place to try out a quick easy bite. Lots of fun and seeing Guy Fieri holding a chicken was fun.

We got 5 hot tenders and the buffalo mac n cheese sandwich. The hot tenders have good spice! The guys working here are very nice and helpful as soon as we walked in. My brother got a meal and there's enough fries to share! Very good food and at a very good price for being on Hollywood Boulevard! Check this place out!

I was in the city looking for a bite to eat when I stumble across this place! Definitely a hidden gym as far as chicken goes. The milkshake was amazing and was just like the childhood milkshake. I grew up on. The sauces for the chicken were amazing! The surface wasn’t anything I’d write home about, but the food was on par, which is what matters. For the price you pay you get a pretty nice set up as far as combos go :) have recommended and will continue to recommend

Google
I wanted to try it just because of Guy Fieri. The sandwiches were ok not wow. It was more of experience than having food. They charge for the souse so be aware. Over all still good chicken sandwiches.

Now, when I tell you this chicken sandwich, I just ate was finger licking lips Smacking delicious. That probably still doesn’t even do a justice. And just wait till you taste the fries OMG! It was everything!!!! Not only was the service amazing from the moment I walked in. I got a Charming smile, And again great service, but the atmosphere in the small shop was amazing as well. My only Constructive criticism would be to get simply catch up lol because for some reason that screams high-quality in this place is most definitely high-quality. I will definitely be going back again probably a few times.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in yesterday afternoon after we saw a show at the Pantages Theater. We ordered two Bourbon Brown Sugar BBQ sandwich combos. They were some of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. At most other places I order my chicken sandwiches plain, but these had bbq sauce, slaw, pepper jack and BBQ kettle chips. It was delicious. The service was quick, the staff was friendly and my only complaint is that I live in the Santa Clarita Valley and can't eat there more often.

Yelp
We wanted to like this place so badly, but there were just too many things going wrong for this joint that day. After seeing a show at the Pantages, Chicken Guy was one of the closest restaurants to the theater. It was on our way back to the parking garage, so we decided to stop for a quick bite. It was literally the opposite of quick. The line was about 2 people deep, so we didn't think it would be too bad. But we ended up there for about an hour. I think the AC was broken, because there was a portable unit next to the drink machine, but it didn't seem to be on. With the fryers going and the hot air from the kitchen, it was pretty hot and muggy in the shop, despite being a cool day. They should have at least propped open the doors. We found a seat outside on the patio after waiting about 5 minutes for a table to open up. Our food took about 25 minutes to come out, and all we ordered were the tenders to share. There were many angry patrons complaining about the amount of time to get their orders. The staff was apologetic, but it didn't really help speed things up much. The tenders were okay; the sauce was where it was at! We tried the ranch and the garlic parm sauces, and they were both great. That was the one redeeming quality about Chicken Guy!

Yelp
Maybe my expectations were too high, but this restaurant was underwhelming. There's lots of advertising and it's located in a populated spot. Even though there was only one person ahead of me, my order still took 20 minutes. I requested the chips on the side to keep my sandwich from getting soggy, and while the cashier was fine with it, the cook seemed annoyed and said "It's only like five chips", which felt unnecessarily rude. The cashier also didn't change gloves while handling food, the screen, and even stepping outside with the same pair. On top of that, they didn't have the correct-sized lids for the shakes... the regular drink lid was too small, and the one they gave me was too big. As for the food, the bourbon BBQ sandwich was okay, the Korean BBQ sandwich was dry, the fries (not pictured) were salty, and the mint shake was just mid, though the presentation was nice. Also, they didn't give me any sauces or ketchup, I think it may have been an extra charge. Overall, I wouldn't come back or recommend this spot. It's simply mid.

Yelp
The line was shorter than shake shack and we decided to try something different. The combo was expensive, the fries were hot and seasoned. Everything else was just ok, tried it but no need to go back. We'll be waiting in the line at shake shack next time.

Yelp
I went to the blvd to grab some things from the drugstore and I was given a sample of chicken guys Oreo shake. Jas, a nice young lady that works the front, gave me the sample and was the only reason why I went to the grand opening today. I tried the tenders and fries and was pleasantly surprised with the flavor. They have lots of sauce options and I enjoyed trying the sweet bbq option. The fries don't need any sauce as they are seasoned and pack a punch. I liked the place and would recommend it to my friends to visit. Look for it in a small corner behind the Funko building. Bonus: they have a reward system so that is always fun.

Yelp
I went here because I was getting a haircut nearby. I knew about this place because I watched "Guy's chance of a lifetime". I ordered the 3 piece tenders ($10) with ranch and donkey sauce. The tenders were large and hot/fresh. I enjoyed the sauces but they were salty. The tenders alone are great - they have a light bbq seasoning. Overall, it was tasty chicken. I happened to be in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

Yelp
Good, quick chicken place in Hollywood ftom Guy Fieri! We ordered tenders and they were very good. I also like that they offer grilled options. The real calling card was the sauces. They give you two to pick from each order. The service was excellent and the restaurant area, clean. Really enjoyed the food and overall experience!

Yelp
I'm glad they offer the ability to sub for grilled chicken rather than it all being fried. It was good.

Yelp
AC doesn't work so it's hot and stuffy in here. Also, I did not like the fact that they accidentally gave our order to someone else are they not checking people's receipt and number? We had to wait & we were on a time crunch since we were going to pantages to see a show.

Evan C.

Yelp
First, the few pieces of chopped chicken on the salad had good flavor. The bowl was a decent portion, filled with super shredded lettuce and lettuce pieces, garbanzo beans, cheese. But this was the most flavorless salad I've ever eaten. (McDonald's side salad has more personality.) Maybe black beans would have been a better choice. The sauce looks amazing, with lots of visible herbs. Again, flavorless. After reading the reviews on the fries, I don't know if I'd use Chicken Guy! As a pre-Pantages option. But, if you're looking for something on Hollywood Blvd that's a little more 'healthy', this salad could work. They charge extra for dressing, which makes zero sense.

Yelp
You can tell that the chicken they use is good quality white meat. They're breaded fresh in store and the fries are tasty too!

Yelp
Chicken tenders were like no other chicken tenders. Crispy crunch and the taste ...awesome. customer service was great. They opened doors. Twice came by asked if I needed anything, refill. Like a 5 star restaurant.

Yelp
I work near by and this is my favorite lunch spot! The dipping sauces are great especially the garlic parm :) The service is also great

Yelp
Omg!! Where to start.. First of all I think the cashier needs a little bit more training with customer service. She was too busy listening to her coworkers conversation and was rushing us to place our order. Then when we got our food the fries were extra salty the chicken tenders were really overcooked. The whole experience was just not good.

Lindsey R.

Yelp
Food is pricy and very sweet. Everything is covered in sugar. Tastes like something you'd eat at a theme park.

Gerry C.

Yelp
If I could give this place a zero, I would. My first and last visit to this fast food restaurant was a terrible experience. Food looked great out of the package, location was clean, and the staff was friendly, But you would think a restaurant that specializes in only chicken would know to cook the chicken fully. first couple bites where good then you get into the raw chicken and almost made me throw up. Please consider this if you visit this location. I reached out to their contact email on their website. Lets see what they say.

Lauren M.

Yelp
I have been waiting five years for a Chicken Guy to open in LA, so here are five stars for five years. But in all honesty, I love this place. The service and food are great, and I'm so happy they're finally here.

A A.

Yelp
Wow one of the best chicken tenders I've had in a very long time, fries were also very good. The dressings chipotle ranch and the garlic Parmesan was amazing. Friendly staff, great service. Would definitely eat here again.

Anthony M.

Yelp
The chicken wasn't bad. There's pretty good side and sauce options on the menu too. But when considering all of the other chicken spots all within walking distance of Chicken Guy, it's hard to rate this spot more than 3 stars.

Henry P.

Yelp
With all of the chicken options out there, especially in LA, this is unfortunately a big miss by Guy. Maybe it's just the staff that's cooking? The tenders on the sando were tough, not juicy at all - it was actually difficult to eat it was so tough. The fried pickles were way too salty and average at best, and the fries were just abysmal. Half undercooked, half almost burned, maybe a few that were OK - seasoning is way too salty. I will not be going back - there's chicken 1000x better than this in the food truck right there on Hollywood Blvd., and Hollywood Burger just down the block has chicken tenders that rip these apart. Sorry dude... this is not a great place for you.

Ian Jordan

Yelp
Friendly staff and tasty tenders. But BY FAR the WORST fast food Mac and cheese. Tasteless, cheerless noodles. Just really bad. Chik Fil A does a good fast food Mac and cheese. This place was just boiled noodles with maybe a hint of cheese and no salt. Bland.
