A (Brief) History Of London’s Best Snacks

"Chicken tenders - £4.95 Once you’re walking down the street eating our favourite chicken tenders as a snack, you’re winning in our books. These ones from Chik’n are consistently fried to perfection, crispy on the outside, somehow still tender on the inside, and if you have the patience to dip on the go, the hot sauce is delicious." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak

Chik’n - Review - Marylebone - London - The Infatuation

"Chik’n is an upmarket chicken shop on Baker Street, run by the same guys behind the excellent Chick n’Sours. It feels like a cross between a Shake Shack and KFC - so think tasty wings, shakes, and fried chicken sandwiches, but made using free range bird and high-quality ingredients. The basic chicken sandwich is very good, and the wings and nachos are great as well. Hit it for a quick snack or fast food fix if you’re in the area." - David Paw

Best Christmas Sandwiches 2020 | London Restaurant Christmas Sandwiches | Eater London

"The ‘Twisted Xmas Sandwich’ from the Carl Clarke’s Chik’n is pretty much an entire Christmas meal in and of itself. Juicy buttermilk-brined fried chicken breast is joined in a glossy potato bun by cranberry hoisin, crispy bacon, kewpie mayo, and pink pickles sourced from London-based Eaten Alive. What’s more, for every sandwich sold, Chik’n will sponsor a room for the night for a young homeless person via the Centre Point charity." - Lucas Oakeley

I went to Chicken Shop and really liked it. The food was fresh and tasty. I had a chicken burger — the chicken was crispy outside and soft inside. The bun was soft, and the lettuce and sauce made it even better. The fries were nice and crunchy. I also tried the loaded fries with chicken, sauce, and some spicy powder on top — very yummy and full of flavour. The place was clean and the service was fast. Even though it was busy, the food came out hot and fresh. I had a great time here. If you like chicken, you should try this place. 5 out of 5 stars from me!

Spicy chicken sandwich is made just right. Coleslaw is fresh. Place was sparkling clean. Staff were friendly but not at all pushy. I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Google
A delicious halal fast food restaurant with a nice variety of tenders, wings and burgers. The staff were friendly and attentive - even when we were at the self service kiosk. The flavours were excellent and spicy. My problem is that the food is ridiculously overpriced. We paid almost £18 for one burger and three tenders. My only other complaint is that the tenders were a lot less crunchy/crispy than expected.

Went in for some chicken, left questioning my life choices—but in a good way. The chicken? Juicy, flavorful, and seasoned like it had just been blessed by a poultry deity. The price? Let’s just say my wallet cried a little, but my taste buds told it to shut up. Would I go again? Absolutely. Would I recommend it? Only if you’re ready to fall in love with chicken and simultaneously question why you don’t just start raising your own.

Google
When they say it is London's best, they are absolutely right! I always love the chicken here! Very tasty and crispy. The staff are amazing and very helpful too! Highly recommended.

Had a fantastic experience at Chicken Shop! The chicken burgers were incredibly crispy, flavorful, and packed with fresh ingredients. The sides and sauces complemented the meal perfectly, and everything was served hot and fresh. The service was friendly and attentive, making the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving a quality chicken burger!

One of the best halal burger spots in London! Chicken Shop offers juicy, flavorful burgers with high-quality ingredients and excellent seasoning. The place is clean, the staff are friendly, and the service is fast. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious halal food in a cozy setting. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
Chicken Shop had been described as the best fried chicken in London and the Five Guys of fried chicken, so I felt I had to give it a go and I'm so glad I did. It was quick and easy to order on the self-service kiosks (staff were also on hand to help or take orders if needed) and I was able to customise my burger order. The chicken in the burger was so crispy and tender and the buttermilk and herb sauce in the burger was perfect. I often judge chips on whether or not I think they need sauce with them, but these crinkle chips tasted so good that I didn't need sauce for them. They were perfectly salted. All in all, I think it lived up to the claims.

Yelp
The loaded fries, the burgers & the hot wings were good. I was hoping the chicken would have hot seasoning but it was just doused in hot sauce.

Yelp
My wife and I just dropped in to try the place and are so happy that we did! I had the spicy chicken sandwich and cheesy fries; my wife had the classic chicken sandwich with bacon and the works on sour dough bun. The sandwiches are super fresh and chicken very moist and flavorful. The spicy chicken sandwich has seasoned vegetables on it! The cheesy fries were not soggy - just perfect. The manager was so kind and told us that he has a master chef who designs the recipes. We received samples of the fried wings and chicken breast with three dipping sauces that were so ono (Hawaiian for delicious)! We love CHIK'N

Yelp
We didn't actually get to eat here - lots of issues with their credit card system. I did want to comment though as their staff was KIND and cheerful. There is a world wide shortage of service right now - grateful to the ones that still enjoy their jobs.

Yelp
Don't recommend. Saw this as a top option for a chicken sandwich online so we thought we check it out. I could compare back to a overpriced Burger King. It wasn't great for the price you pay the food was drenched in mayo and that ruined the flavor the chicken was crispy but it kept falling apart from the mayo. Bread was coldand not flavorful in comparison to other burger/sandwich spots. I would skip it completely.

Yelp
Walked in and the staff are very friendly, had a bit of bant with the guy behind the counter. Seeing as it my first 'Chik'n' experience he was happy to chat through the burgers and suggest which ones I might enjoy. The price is cheap considering the size and freshness of burger. The service is quick, and there's some seating. If it's sunny and lunch then it's nice outside, but if you're looking for a proper sit down then this place isn't ideal. Chicken burger was great though. Could tell it was fresh, big burger, spicy and had a great fried coating. Really enjoyed this place

Yelp
My husband loves this place so we always order from it but I hate it every time I order from it either the chicken isn't well done or something and today there was a bone in my tenders and the cluster was not cooked I'm never ordering from it again.

Yelp
I hated them when it first opened last year, then a few months ago I gave them a try and they certainly have improved a lot; however, most of the time I get chicken with feather still visible on the skin which might be totally safe to eat but it puts me off unfortunately. Their recipe is on point but they need to clean the chicken properly.

Yelp
Stopped in for chicken after much social media hype and the result was.... mixed? The chicken it self was of the highest quality and service was fantastic. The lack of flavouring on the batter was disappointing and the excess butter on the buns was off putting. With KFC down the street and Nando's across the street, can't say I would put this on top of the fried chicken list unless the preparation improves.

Yelp
My order: 3 Chicken Tenders 3 Chicken Wings (Hot sauce) 1 Large House Fries 3 x Sauces (Sriracha Sour Cream, 2 x Hot Sauce) Total £10.05 Chik'n is the latest addition to Baker Street, offering fried chicken. I visited in the evening, when there wasn't a queue. Despite this, my order took nearly 20 minutes to get done. On a positive note, it appears that all the food is prepared fresh for every order. The manager kindly offered me a free drink and apologised for the wait. Sadly, the food quality wasn't on par considering the premium cost. The chicken wings in particular tasted very peculiar -- almost as if they hadn't been washed. The hot sauce wasn't able to mask this underlying taste, and so the wings were an immediate write off. The chicken tenders were better, but I felt they were almost too crispy. Sadly, the £0.20 sauce tubs are far too small, and barely enough for more than 2-3 dips. Chips were crinkle cut, and slightly overdone. I would say that the large chips would equate to a small chips at almost any other restaurant. Again, the sauce tubs are far too small but get more than a few dips in. I wouldn't visit Chik'n again -- I can get a much tastier meal (and better value for money) by visiting KFC just a few doors away. And Nando's is straight over the road too. Conclusion: Avoid for now.

Yelp
Tried the classic chicken sandwich- fresh crispy chicken. Very tasty. Salted caramel popcorn shake was delicious. Lots of flavors to choose from. You place your order at the counter and then wait for it to be prepared. Waiting times depend on how crowded the place is. Staff very friendly and pleasant. We sat outside at the picnic tables enjoying our meal. I'd come back to get my fried chicken fix.

Yelp
Pretty mediocre, if not sub par, chicken. Tasted like something you'd buy in the freezer section at tesco. It's only redeeming quality is that it is well decorated inside though!

Yelp
3.5stars ...You place your order at the desk then queue to get your food - kinda like shake shack but without those useful buzzer things. Waited in queue for about 15mins, it was busy but not rammed - we managed to get a table (one of the few) there's about 14 indoor seats and 8 outdoors. Burger was nice, batter was delicious! Didn't like the sauce on the chicken wings, tasted weird which was a shame because the chicken wings themselves were lovely. Coleslaw was nice... the All in nacho style chips... hmm... well firstly as we went around 8pm on the third day of opening they had run out of some of the ingredients - would've been nice if they'd told us that at the counter. Didn't end up liking the chips at all though.. had none of the cool looking pink onions or kimchee, barely had any cheese and was drenched in greasy overpowering sausagey gravy on top. On the plus side range of Sodas was niiiccee - I got cherry sprite and vanilla sprite, wanted to squeeze in the peach sprite too but too much liquid! Peanut butter shake was tasty too. For 2 burgers, 2 nacho style fries, 1 soda, 1 shake, wings and coleslaw the bill came to £34 (thankfully 50% off for soft launch) pretty pricey for "fast food". Service was good, there was one guy who was going around making sure everyone was happy and was kind enough to give me an icecream as I was on crutches! 5 stars to him, he was brilliant and you could see he was properly working the room and giving it 200% customer service. Think he's only there for the soft launch though. All in all I'd go back for the burger and soda and maybe get a plain fries instead.

Yelp
The classic chik'n burger is the tastiest fried burger I have eaten. Will defo be back!

Yelp
Absurdly overpriced fast food, that isn't actually fast. Long wait times, unfriendly staff, and the food is just... bland. The fries have no flavour to them at all. I ordered the chik'n hot and the batter is completely flavourless. The sauce is lacking any real spicy kick to it which is quite disappointing. Also, I'm not sure if it's the bun or the lettuce--or just the chicken itself--but something is just off. It tastes more like one of those sand chicken sandwiches you get a school or hospital cafeteria. At £8 and change, absolutely should've just gone to McDonald's instead. MUCH better value, and honestly the taste is on par.
