The New Atlanta Restaurant Openings You Should Know About - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Clocking in at more than 4,000 square feet, this new Mexican restaurant in Brookhaven has plenty of space to sprawl out and enjoy everything from ceviche to tacos to wings. Their patio has more than 30 TVs. And now that they've got their liquor license, you could say they have just as many tequilas on deck. It has all the makings of a party spot." - juli horsford, jacinta howard

Maybe it sounds wild to say, but there were a few too many tv’s. The Happy Hour from 3-6 is not bad, but they are indeed small plates. Flavors reminded me of resort/cruise food and it did the job but certainly was not memorable. One star off for service only because they had to come back to let me know they were out of something I had ordered.

This place just opened less than a week ago, so they’re still working through some kinks. They don’t have their liquor license yet, and I wish they had mentioned that before we sat down or at least posted a sign. It was disappointing to find out after getting settled. The kitchen was slow—it took around 30 minutes to get our calamari, which came out super chewy. They offered to remake it, which we appreciated, but it took even more time. By the time the second plate came out, our table had already been cleared, so we had to eat it with our hands. Unfortunately, the texture was still off and reminded us of rehydrated squid. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and attentive throughout. The manager eventually stopped by to check in and explained everything, which helped smooth things over. Overall, the food was okay and the service was good. Hopefully things improve as they settle in.

I recently visited Chico Cantina hoping to enjoy some Mexican cuisine, and while the atmosphere was vibrant, great music and the service friendly, I was a little disappointed by the lack of vegan options. For those who enjoy traditional meat and cheese dishes, the menu offers a wide variety of choices. However, as someone who eats plant-based, I found myself with very few choices. My main option was a vegetable fajita, with guacamole and pico de gallo. The guacamole was on the spicy side but the server was kind enough to bring back another bowl without any jalapeños. The flavors are authentic and the portions generous. If they were to expand their vegan offerings, it would definitely become a more inclusive and appealing spot for a wider range of diners. Overall the service is fast and kind staff...you will definitely enjoy the music!

Tried Chico Cantina for the first time and was really impressed. My waitress was a darling. Started with the extra hot guacamole. For the main, I had the carne asada tacos, which were juicy, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. For dessert, I ordered the croissant bread pudding with ice cream, and it was definitely a standout. The combination of the warm croissant and cold ice cream was rich and delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Came here since the old place that used to be here closed. Everything and I mean everything was pre made ingredients and not an ounce of unique flavor went into these dishes. I have had plenty of authentic Mexican a this is not it. The drink was like something you would get at a festival too much alcohol and the mixer was very rushed not a real margarita. Tha menu was very limited and did not really make sense to traditional Mexican restaurants. Me and the wife quite literally had to eat something else afterwards to make sure the night ended on a high note. I hope this post helps them understand that real care and unique flavors need to go into restaurants and not pre made frowned product.

This place is nice for a certain crowd and I wouldn’t really suggest for authentic Mexican food. The food has some tasty options for tacos/large dishes and some lackluster options like the calamari and mussels which is random on that menu anyway imo. I think the manager’s name was Sam and he’s courteous.

I tried this place for the first time today and it was fantastic. My server Junior was a joy. Great personality and service. He listened and put my order in quickly, was able to get me in and out fast since I was on my lunch break. Would def come back again when I dont have to rush so I can really enjoy the atmosphere. Music was also good! I enjoyed my lunch there!

All I can say amazing! The staff here is absolutely great, welcoming and attentive! We ordered the tuna guacamole app and and tacos, it came out quick and fresh. All of the food is amazing flavorful fresh I don’t have anything bad to say. Drinks were also different variety and delicious. Manager Sam came around and greeted us to make sure everything was good. This place is a 100% turn around from before highly recommend coming here. You will not be disappointed

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! The food is bursting with FLAVOR! The chips were served hot and were not oily at all - and perfectly salted. The salsa verse was screamingly delicious. Very, very fresh. I am attaching pics of the salmon tacos and herbed rice. Both were phenomenal. The tacos had a little spicy heat but with the fresh corn (it was clearly cut fresh from the cob), cabbage salsa, and a verde on top, it was beautiful. Not pictured were the grilled shrimp tacos. I am sorry for being redundant but they were grilled perfectly and were as fresh as could be. Service was amazing and it didn't cost a lot for our dinner for two.

Yelp
Since Red Pepper Taqueria closed, I've been very excited for Chico Cantina to open in its place! Service has been nice so far, and the ambiance is casual. While it's not an authentic Mexican restaurant, the flavors are great! You can tell a lot of love has gone into this. I have come in a couple times so far for dinner and have enjoyed the experience. I've had the chips and salsa, queso, guacamole, calamari, ceviche, a couple of the tacos (shrimp, and fish), a couple quesadillas (shrimp with all the fixings, and just cheese), Mexican rice (last time, I asked for the other rice option but I received the Mexican rice again as a mistake... it's yummy but I'd love to try the other next time), and pineapple bread pudding. Everything has been tasty. The margaritas are fantastic! Sadly, the first time we went, they were only doing on the rocks--not sure they've gotten their frozen machine up and running yet. I got the "condesa" which was perfectly spicy-sweet! Additionally, the last time we went, they were only serving house margs. Not sure what's going on with this, but I can't wait for their full menu to be up and running. For those who don't drink alcoholic they offer a nice big menu of mocktails that all sound yummy. Looking forward to returning to try more things.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! Great atmosphere! I have food allergies and very sensitive to spice but was able to enjoy everything I ordered! Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
I dropped by on a Sunday afternoon and sat at the bar. I'm glad they renovated the previous bar a bit and updated the space a bit. I had a chicken tortilla soup, that was in a tomato broth. I also had 2 mango margaritas, which were delicious. My server was super accommodating and loved her energy. Looking forward to coming back for happy hour and official brunch.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time with my husband and loved it! Food was delicious: we got nachos appetizers, and for entrees the quesadilla and enchilada. The enchiladas in salsa verde were top. For dessert, the pineapple bread pudding was ridiculously good. They also had tasty mocktails. Samuel who runs the place came by to check on us periodically. Great service and lively ambience to complete the experience. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great menu variety. Oysters were fresh, large, and delicious. Good choice of margaritas and flavors. Beer choice good and cold. Service was superb. Meats are grilled on the patio -lots of good seasoning and flavor! Patio and inside have great large TVs for viewing sports. Patio is covered, open on sides, and has many ceiling fans to circulate air.

Yelp
The bartenders are the best!! Food was great. Servers/bartenders are attentive. Management was also present and very attentive. Atmosphere was fun and inviting. I'll definitely Frequent this new place!

Yelp
Quality food. Nice change of flavor from typical Atlanta Mex food. Fajita skillet is something to go back for with perfectly grilled veggies packed into a small skillet with a seasoned sliced chicken breast topping it. Chicken was moist, plump and flavorful. Very nice salsas and guac made on site everyday per our service person.

Yelp
Good vibes and good food! Service was good and the $5 happy hour margarita was AMAZING! Will be coming back. Enchiladas were good too!

Yelp
We tried Chico Cantina for the first time and loved everything about it. The shrimp and smoked pork tacos were delicious, as were the margaritas. And the staff were topnotch, especially our server Sahaanaa.
