13 Miami Starters That Are The Main Event - Miami - The Infatuation

"These meaty mollusks are topped with chalaca, a kind of pico de gallo that’s made with diced red onions, choclo, tomato, and a little sprinkle of roe that’s like the seafood equivalent of a cherry on top. The vibrant colors make it look like a close-up view of the Amazon Rainforest, and if you eat it with your eyes closed, you can dissociate to a reality where you have gills, and dolphins are a main source of transport. There are only 12 seats at the counter and Barra doesn’t take reservations. You’re pretty much guaranteed a wait for a weekend dinner. Go for lunch on a weekday if you’re short on time. If you plan on coming with a bigger group, avoid the weekend altogether and drop in on Monday." - virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo, virginia otazo, virginia otazo, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

Stopped by and got the fried rice and fried chicken for $5!!!! Oh my gosh!!! It was delicious! This tasted like the half chicken and fried rice I would get in New York like 20 years ago and can’t find anywhere. Really just shocked at how good the fried chicken and rice was. Highly recommend!

Google
Swung by to try the lunch special. They have 2 pieces of fried chicken and fried rice for 5 bucks. Food was fresh and tasty. Small quaint sized restaurant. Its almost as if it is a small bistro due to the food presentation. Owner was friendly. I will definitely have to come back to try the rest of the menu.

Google
This place is the real deal. The food here is authentic and made me feel like I was enjoying a good chifa back in Lima. The chef and staff were super nice and the food was out of this world. We drove 50 minutes to eat here and it was SO worth it.

I was surprised about the first Chifa in Houston , for Peruvians Chifa is a super iconic food and this place exceeded my expectations 😍😍😍 I love their Wonton Soup !! Everyone should try this , I can say this soup is even more delicious than the ones from Lima.😋 We also tried Tallarin taypa , special chaufa, wonton Fritos with tamarind sauce 🔥🔥🔥 all delicious and fresh. Everyone must come to try, and if you are not familiar with Chifa, it’s a special fusion between Chinese and Peruvian cuisine, which is just fire 🔥🔥 Definitely we will come back soon 😎✌️

After a while living in Houston, to be able to found such a good Chifa is incredible. It bring so many childhood memories, I'll definitely recommend it. 10/10.

Yelp
The waitress we had was the epitome of what bad service is. She was terrible. Didn't greet us when we walked in, literally walked right past us and I asked do we seat ourselves? And she looked confused and said uhhh yeah if you want. It was all downhill after that with her. The ceviches were ok. I had 3 different kinds and they all tasted the same to me. The reason I'm giving it two stars is because the Mongolian beef they had was quite tasty.

Yelp
The food was really delicious here! Fresh and pipping hot picarones was the star here. I haven't had them since I was last in Peru and I'm so glad I got to have them again! The service is a bit slow since it is only one person serving as a waitress, but that doesn't matter. The ambiance was nice and quiet. I can tell they do not have many people coming over, but I hope they continue growing their clientele. They are also hiring people if you are also looking for a waiter/waitress job.

Yelp
Call or order in person, they had a hiccup with their online ordering today. Chifa is a Peruvian-Chinese cuisine that mixes Chinese dishes with Peru ingredients. The name itself originates from the Chinese word "chi-faan", "to eat". The main iconic dish is Chaufa, which is also a play on the Chinese word "chao-faan", "fried rice". Look for the subtle differences between the Texas fried rice and the Peruvian fried rice! Order the Chaufa Amazonico which is like a combo fried rice platter. I also ordered the anticucho (beef skewers), taypa special (similar to the happy family or triple delight dish), egg rolls, and chicha morada (purple corn drink). Would highly recommend the skewers and drink!

Yelp
While I will always miss the Malaysian place which was previously here, Chifa Peru was a pleasant surprise! It's a quiet place and not too big, but based on the cook of the three dishes we'd definitely recommend it. We had only once before had Peruvian, but the Fish Ceviche was a definite hit! The corn elements with the lightest hit of habanero in the juice really set off the chunks of fish quite nicely. This paired nicely with the Tallarin Saltado con Vegetales (mixed veggie stir fry) - you really get the smoky wok hei flavor in the veggies and noodles both with the crisp of the vegetables and the nice chew in the noodles. It was a great relaxed flavor to alternate against the hit of the ceviche tang. We lastly had the Chaufa de Pato (duck fried rice), which we were amazed to find came out similar to Filipino lechon - decadent, and boneless to boot!!! Again another instance of good wok hei, and one of the better fried rice dishes we've had in the area.

Yelp
I guess I caught them on a busy Sunday. The service was slow, but it seemed as if they were understaffed. Perhaps I ordered foolishly, but the char sui pork was under their favorite category. It says it is served in a sweet sauce, but this was all sweet with nothing else. The pork was dry, somehow, and chewy; the accompanying vegetables had received little attention and the pitiful small bowl of rice did nothing to add to the dish. For $19, I would expect a lot more. Nothing about this dish was the fusion of Chinese and Peruvian flavors. Nothing about this dish showed care or depth of flavor. And nothing about my experience explains the reviews that this restaurant gets. I guess all the attention went to the large parties next to us .

Yelp
Chifa plate was delicious, also tried nabo curtido, was pretty good, picarones not so good.

Yelp
As a Peruvian who has tried lots of Peruvian food, Chifa Peru has one of the best I've tried. Had the lomo & chorros a la chalaca for lunch and it does the job! Owner is a real nice guy.

Sofía G.

Yelp
The poor quality food and the taste was like expired food. The place looks dirty and careless. It's not authentic Peruvian food.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the owner provides the best service. I had the tacu tacu with filet mignion, highly recommend.

Yelp
Terrific food and great service from Willy and his team. We tried the sopa de wonton, arroz chaufa with chicken and chicha morada...kids loved it!

Yelp
Really great food and service, the owner is a really nice guy! I highly recommend the pollo chijaukay plate.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I found Chifa Peru when looking for Pepper Twins and we were not disappointed! The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We're excited to come back again! The Chaufa Special and the Beef Sautéed with Broccoli were great and I'll definitely order them again!
