23 Tantalizing Thai Restaurants in Los Angeles

"Chim, which translates to “to taste” in Thai, brings the business of Bangkok street food to Pasadena. The decor nods to tuk tuks or rickshaws that roam Thailand’s capital while servers don the bright orange vests typically saved for motorcycle taxis. For snacks, opt for the roti served with Panang curry, herbaceous northern Thai sausage, and yum wai wai (a zippy instant noodle salad). The star, however, is the su kho thai noodles: this noodle soup is served above a flickering flame and features the brightness of tom yum with the addition of fish cakes, crushed peanuts, and chicken meatballs, all atop soft rice noodles." - Kat Thompson, Eater Staff

This is one of those little hole in the wall places that makes some bomb food! First time going and the food speaks for itself. It was delicious, full of flavor, and quick service. It’s a small place overall, the interior has room for at most 20 people and the small outdoor space probably another 15-20. The service was great and very friendly. We were served our appetizers within the first 5 minutes of being there and our main dishes maybe another 10 minutes later. The gyoza was great! My girlfriend had the Garlic & Pepper Beef which was great too, but my plate was so much better! I got the Braised Pork Hock which was incredible, the pork was so soft and the sweet & sour sauce they gave you was delicious! Will be going back!!

Quick and easy service. Lots of good and beverage options. Fresh taste and smells all around. Definitely want to check this place out again. Great place for lunch time or anytime as long as their open.

We came here because a friend was in the area and we saw videos of this place online that made it look really good. While the service was genuinely friendly, unfortunately, that was the only highlight of our visit. The food was disappointing. We ordered the Pad Thai, which, like many reviewers mentioned, had an odd yellow color and didn’t taste authentic. It was okay at best, but definitely not what you expect from proper Pad Thai. We also tried the Yum Wai Wai, a stir-fried noodle dish. It was $15 but felt more like a $1 dish that I could make at home. It used cheap instant-style noodles that turned mushy when cooked, and ground chicken—nothing fancy, just the kind you can buy at the grocery store for $1.99 /lb. The flavor wasn’t bad, but the texture made it hard to enjoy. My friend got the Pad See Ew, which she found bland and overly soft. She couldn’t finish it. Overall, we all agreed that even more casual spots like Thai Purple in SGV served better food than this.

Google
The rice and fried rice was horrible/mushy. The noodles had no taste. Everything was worse than before. And we had to use the restroom... They said they have no restroom in the restaurant. Is that even legal?

We wanted to like this restaurant so badly, but unfortunately it fell short. Roti - nice curry sauce, small portion, was fresh but part of the dough was uncooked. Red curry with tofu - curry was thin but good flavor. Tofu pieces were huge, you could still see the indentations on the tofu skin from where it was removed from the packaging. Did not seem like much care was placed into this dish. Two pieces of pepper with a ton of shredded bamboo shoots, no other vegetables at all. Thai ice tea - too sweet Spicy pork with basil - best dish we had. Flavorful, good sauce, decent sized portion. $58 after tip and tax was too much for this meal, especially in a city with so many Thai options. Next!

Google
The restaurant is full of Thai vibe. The owner (which I assumed) is very passionate and the food is definitely amazing. I ordered the crab and shrimp fried rice and the portions were way more than I would expect. However, I still finished them because they are so good. The amount of crab meat and the number of shrimps they put inside the dish would definitely not disappoint you. I also tried their Thai iced tea and it was also delicious. I would love to try out other dishes next time I visit Pasadena.

Google
This is the best thai food I’ve ever had. Ate pad kee mao, yellow curry chicken, crab Rangoon and mango sticky rice. Everything was 10/10

Google
Great food, fast, inexpensive. Spiciness adapted for American palates. If you want more than minimally spicy, you have to say so. One chili is minimal. The Pad See Ew is admirably garlicky though!

Yelp
We are in for dinner. It was raining, maybe that was why there were so few customers at dinner time. The server was very friendly and helpful, and the food was served very quickly. We tried the spicy Tom Yum soup was full of flavor. We loved the Kee Mao ramen noodles, too. It was full of green beans, which we enjoyed. I don't think I would order the fried fish cakes again, but my boyfriend liked them a lot and that they remind him of traditional Japanese food. We'll be back soon to try more things!
google avatar

Yelp
The service was good and our food came out fairly quick but the food was lacking a lot! The only thing that was doable was the fried fish cakes. I liked the sauce that you dip in for the fish cakes which complimented it well. The pad kee mao with beef though... don't order this unless you want overcooked, sour, tasteless beef. The whole plate itself was too salty also. I didn't even finish my plate, left all the beef and some noods and the waiter asked if I wanted a to-go box but didn't ask if we liked the food(which we def didn't). The chicken curry... def a no no. This should've been called bamboo shoots curry since it was filled with that and only a few bites of chicken. Not that the chicken was delicious or anything. Sorry but if you love thai and have it often, this wouldn't be your spot. There's 3 tables set up for outdoor dining by the front. They have a small parking area right in front too. It was full when we got there so we ended up parking at Ralph's across the street and walked over.

Yelp
Loved this place! Not too spacious, but they fit a lot of tables inside! Came on a Sunday for 2, and got seated quickly. I loved their drink menu, my friend got the blended thai coffee and I got the pandan tea. Both were so delicious. The food we ordered too was so good, and came out rather quickly. The 2 ladies working the restaurant at the time were very attentive and nice. We didn't realize they were closing but they let us stay a little after while they cleaned after lunch, so we could pack up our food without rushing. The only thing is they didn't have a bathroom. I believe there is one for use next door, but I'm not too sure.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious Thai food. Vibrant, tangy curry and rich soups. Not to mention unique street food options and appetizers.
google avatar

Yelp
I like this pace a lot. We had the shrimp pad thai, spicy basil and the crispy chicken. The pad thai was good and the crispy chicken delicious. My favorite dish was the spicy basil. It was so tasty and fragrant. The place is small and it was busy the night we went, but it was worth the wait.

Yelp
I've ordered lunch here a few times now during the work week and have not been disappointed yet. Love this tiny restaurant that feels like a locals secret. One visit, I walked in to grab my phone-order take out and it was during the busy lunch rush, and I was impressed by all the woks going in the open kitchen. And that wok fire I definitely taste in the food! I've had a variety of different things and have enjoyed it all.

Yelp
Very small Thai restaurant joint located in Pasadena, right next to Dash Coffee Bar! It's a very quaint and cozy restaurant, tight seating, but good food! The parking lot is very small, so you'll be lucky if you find a parking spot in there. It was about a Sunday lunch, which it wasn't too busy at that time. We were immediately seated, which we ordered the garlic soy chicken wings, pad thai with chicken, and the pad kee mao with pork. We got the pad thai first, it was unusually alot more yellow that we expected, but the overall taste was good! These type of noodles also tasted thicker than usual, the flavor was nice and tasted like a classic pad thai. The chicken could be softer, but overall was pretty good. Then came the chicken wings next, it wasn't too fried, but it had a good amount of crispyness to it. Wish it was more juicier as well, but the wings were pretty standard. I enjoyed these the least since they tasted the most basic, but it was nice to have. Next came the Pad Kee Mao, I never had something like this before from a thai restaurant, but I may have liked this one the most! The pork was very flavorful and the noodles were a good chewy texture. It definitely had that spice to it as well, so overall this was pretty good too. Overall, the whole restaurant experience was pretty nice! I would say they should consider getting bigger tables because their tables are very slim haha. Not really sharing friendly when you want to order some dishes and try a little bit of everything. The staff was nice, food was pretty good. Pretty solid Thai restaurant in Pasadena.

Yelp
One of my go-to's in Pasadena to get piping hot Thai soup noodles! I always love the beef noodle soup here (just wish there were more noodles in the broth)! Really easy street parking, never a wait and all the waiters are nice. A great quick dinner option in the Pasadena area.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and always forget to take pictures mostly bc I know the food is going to taste so good we just dig right in. I normally do not order pad Thai at Thai restaurants BUT this one has sooo much flavor far from the typical you'd get at other places! Service is quick and friendly. Literally a Thai food gem !
google avatar

Nikole M.

Yelp
Love the feel of the restaurant. Seems like it's family owned and just feels very welcoming. Chim and Dash next door have the same owner so we first grabbed a coffee and then went next door to have lunch. I've gotten food from here before but never noticed that they had any kind of limited time dishes. We decided to order the khao soi noodle soup, as I've seen it all over social media lately, and it did not disappoint. It has a good yellow curry flavor with a nice kick and topped with an interesting addition of sliced red onion and crispy noodles. We also ordered the gyoza, soy garlic chicken wings and the crab and shrimp fried rice. I would recommend anything from our meal but especially the chicken wings.

Yelp
The pad see ew was my sons favorite ! It was slightly sweeter than other places we've had but it's delicious ! The papaya salad is very flavorful with a good kick to it. The tomyum ramen was piping hot & extremely satisfying. Overall loved our dining experience here! The service was also so friendly !

Yelp
This place has a good lunch time vibe, probably due to their lunch specials. The space is cozy and well arranged to fit a lot for the small space. Their food generally runs more on the sweeter side and spicy is not really Asian level spicy. Not an authentic Thai restaurant but quick and easy if you're in the mood for Thai with decent service. Probably wouldn't order the pad see eew again. Papaya salad was decent. Curry was pretty good.. but again, sweet. Stay clear if you don't like your food sweet . Otherwise, not bad.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
I asked for insane, ghost pepper level spicy for my pad kee mao. They delivered. This is my new favorite thai place. Everytime I ask for extreme spicy, I get mild at other restaurants. Even when other restaurants say, no return if too spicy, most other restaurants still give me mild. I was very happily surprised that this place gave me super super spicy just how I like it. My husband had crab fried rice (mild) he said it was tasty! We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Randy H.

Yelp
Great local Thai place. The seating is a little small but the food is awesome and it's pretty reasonable price wise.
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
Definitely not a favorite of mine. I am huge fan of Thai and this was not a good representation of Thai food. The flavors lacked what I have come to love about the food. I will probably not come back unless I come back for only the happy hour beer.
google avatar

Akira N.

Yelp
Thai restaurants tend to land similarly flavor wise. The food was soooo excellent here. Obviously authentic street food recipes. So delicious. I could eat here every day!
google avatar

Carlo G.

Yelp
Pretty good Thai food and cheap prices. Got this fried chicken rice dish and it was good, but a little too sour for my taste. The service was decent even though we had to flag down our server a couple of times, but I u first and it was busy that day. The inside was cozy for a nice casual meal.
google avatar

LARUGI P.

Yelp
They had amazing service and delicious food I would recommend this to anyone! The place is a bit small inside but you feel comfortable and cozy. We love Thai food and we love Chim!
google avatar

Rhea M.

Yelp
I like their menu and their style. It's a cute little spot and I really love their coffee shop next door (Dash), but the food is just okay. I ordered: Green curry - nothing special. The rice that came with my to-go order was a little overcooked and as was the tofu. The eggplant was cut into giant chunks which wasn't my personal preference because it doesn't get cooked evenly that way. Roti dip - the dip had good flavor, but was pretty lackluster. It was just a sauce when most other roti dips have more body to it. The roti was undercooked as well. Not sure if I'd come back, but not my first choice.
google avatar

Janet K.

Yelp
Friends and I came here after seeing an ig reel on it. Three of us were seated right away and viewed our menu thru QR code. (I personally prefer QR codes for sanitary reasons) the place is small and had a lot of workers so we were able to order right away. My order came out a little late but the other noodle dishes came out quickly. They don't really use disposable utensils. Portions are adequate for what you pay for. Not my fav Thai spot but nonetheless tasty mainly bc it's authentic. I hope they don't lose that touch! Small parking lot shared with coffee shop and street parking in a one way street all around. I noticed a lot more pick up orders than dining in. I will be back to try the sausages.
google avatar

Yelp
Great Thai food in Pasadena - all the good stuff here and a lot of chef specials. Great noodle soups and all your traditional menu items plus beer and desserts. Great coffee shop next door too. Indoor and outdoor small patio to dine.

Jin C.

Yelp
I first visited this place in 2019, and it has been my go to lunch spot ever since. Chim is a quaint little restaurant located on a one way street, with very limited parking. I recommend you go a bit early if you're planning to dine in for lunch. Onto the service, the ladies that work here are always so friendly and welcoming. They're very quick and attentive, you won't be waiting long! This fantastic restaurant serves very flavorful and well executed Thai dishes. I strongly recommend getting the Chim Gai Zapp if it's your first time and you're unsure what to get. Essentially, the Chim Gai Zapp is lightly battered fried chicken (Pork option available) mixed with some herbs, onions, spices and a special sauce... served with a side of rice. It's definitely one of my favorite dishes to get here.

Yelp
:: Food :: I've tried their Pad Thai and Pad See Ew before, both are pretty standard. I recently ordered their Duck Noodle Soup and it was pretty good, the broth was a tad bit on the sweeter side. I would've liked if they gave more of the duck breast, but I guess it did help that the duck comes deboned. :: Service :: Customer service is good and the food comes out pretty quick. :: Parking :: Their parking lot is super small; they share the parking lot with Dash Coffee Bar. I had to park on the side street across from the restaurant.

Yelp
Having been to Thailand the food was very authentic. Absolutely delish!!!! Spicy basil chicken my favorite dish ever. We will be returning to this lil mom and pops spot. .
google avatar

Yelp
The food, service, and vibes of this place are the reason we keep coming back! Super friendly staff who serve great food. My fiancé and I also love the new items they put on their menu from time to time since it's usually a hit.
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
I've ordered the Tom Kha Coconut soup (sometimes with noodles) multiple times, and there's always more chicken than I can finish in one sitting. My go-to take out when down with a cold or just feeling under the weather. Hot, tangy, salty and creamy. The aromatics really help to clear congestion. I kick up the spice level depending how much endorphins I can take that day.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
I went here during my lunch break. I've heard good reviews about this place from my coworkers and finally got around to trying it. The parking lot here is small so you have to get lucky. Food was decent and fairly priced. I did love the small portion size of the meals since I tend to eat less. Our orders came out in about 15-20 minutes. Service was good. I would come back! beef pad see ew ($12.95) rating: 7.4/10 panang beef (12.95) rating: 6/10 tom yum soup (S) ($7.96) rating: 7/10
google avatar

Marco C.

Yelp
The place was pretty busy on a Monday afternoon. Huge portions we couldn't even finish. They were very generous with protein. Server was super sweet Great little place
google avatar

Erick G.

Yelp
See my previous review. 10/10. Best Thai place in Pasadena hands down. Can't go wrong with the curries, crispy chicken, and pad see ew. Lax vibes with super friendly service from the servers.
google avatar

Dani D.

Yelp
2 years later and this place is still one of my favorites. My partner and I love coming here, it's never super crowded. It's quiet enough to talk and the food is always exactly what you want. Like I stated in my original review, they make it SPICY when you ask for it. All the staff is always nice, this is just a very delicious, cozy place. The lovely lady that was behind the counter came to our table tonight, on valentines and offered us a complimentary dessert. She said it was something from her childhood, Pandan pudding. It was warm, sweet, bready. Absolutely gorgeous. Best time and comfortable food. The Pad Kee Mao is a personal favorite, extra spicy.
google avatar

Yelp
Chim Thai Street Food is delicious! They have a parking lot, great service, sit down table service or carry out. Plus - beer if you plan on dining in! It's a cute place. Small but had more than enough seating when we went in. My friend and I started with their Roti. Pan fried to a crispness on the outside while remaining soft on the side. And the dipping sauce added a great extra oomph! Their Roast Duck ($17) over white rice was so delicious. Deboned and served with yu choi, it was perfect. A lot of times duck can suffer from dryness, not here. Juicy and the flavor on the skin??? Holy goodness, it was tasty! And a huge portion, I have lunch leftovers today! All in, loved Chim and will definitely be going again when I'm in Pasadena!

Yelp
Chim! I've been going here since covid for take out and for the past year started dining in since I literally live like 6 blocks away. Chim is a small Thai restaurant that's been featured in the local Pasadena newspaper. Food: My top go is the green curry chicken or tofu. It's spicy and the flavors are spot on. * Pad Thai chicken or shrimp is what I usually get. It's tangy and sweet and salty. Not dry and generous portions for this item. *Spicy garlic eggplant with tofu. This is another favorite of mine. Garlic sauce flavor and eggplant is cooked perfectly. *Shrimp and crab fried rice This is one of the items you should definitely order and try. Not too salty and it's actually a real hand picked crab meat. A must try. *Lastly I had the ground chicken with spicy garlic flavor with green chilies. I requested an egg with it. Most of their food are great but this one was my least favorite. It's spicy and good garlic flavor but I think the meat was a little dry or tough. Maybe they need to marinate it a little longer. Restaurant: Small dining area but business definitely thrives with to go or pick up orders. Since it's located in downtown Pasadena and lots of banks are close by. Parking: It's small it's in a little plaza but come early or park in the street you should be fine. Bonus feature! They own the Dash coffee next door and definitely give them a try. The bathroom is located at the coffee shop ***** Conclusion: One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Pasadena for a quick bite for lunch. Give them a try. Cons: The soup is delicious but they're meant for a single person unlike traditional Thai restaurants they come in a big bowl and are meant to be shared. Chim serves their soup in a small bowl. But overall it's a solid Thai restaurant. I'm here 1-2 times a week.
google avatar

Cynthia N.

Yelp
Service was quick and waiter was attentive. Checked in w/ me several times. There are plenty of two person tables inside and a few outside. But it's too hot to eat outside now. I've ordered here before several times. This time I ordered the Beef Salad and yellow curry. Beef salad came w/ a little basket of sticky rice. However, sticky rice seemed more like regular rice, just mushy. Beef salad had good flavor but some of the pieces of meat had a string of fat on it, so they were kind of chewy. The Chicken Yellow curry had lots of chicken and plenty pieces of pita and carrots. Overall, still one of my favorite Thai spots and glad it's close by.
google avatar

Meagan M.

Yelp
Favorite Thai place in Pasadena! I love their papaya salad. It's so fresh and spicy. Their beef noodle soup is also very tasty.
google avatar

Sheldon A.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch while in the area. We were greeted by a very friendly and attentive employee. Everything we ordered was incredible in addition to large portions. We took most of the fried rice home because it was too good to throw out.

Jenn Y.

Yelp
Ordered via DoorDash delivery. Chicken tom yum soup: 3/5 - slightly odd herbal taste that's different from other tom yum soups I've had before; wish it was a bit more sour; they gave a lot of chicken though and it was soft/tender; mushrooms were sliced too thin for my liking Papaya salad: 2/5 - a bit sweet for my taste; wish it was saltier and more sour Isaan sausage: 4/5 - this was good and probably the only item I'd order again; I added sliced ginger and chili at home (it only came with cabbage); a perfect amount of fat - not too much, just enough I got Thai spicy for both papaya salad and tom yum soup. It definitely had a kick and not for the weak. Will give you a good sweat and burn if that's what you're looking for.
google avatar

Kat C.

Yelp
I'm sad to say this place is not the greatest now. I've gone quite a few times this year and the food quality declined. I used to absolutely love Chim. But I'm not sure if they got a new chef or what happened, the pad see ew, shrimp, don't taste so good anymore. Pad see ew's veggies were undercooked, shrimp tasted off. Pineapple fried rice was mushy. I still enjoy the Tom kha..but with all the Thai options to choose from around here, Chim is no longer near the top for me. Bummer.
google avatar

Klarissa P.

Yelp
Been going here for a decade, and it never disappoints. The food is great and I enjoy their Thai iced tea too. Would recommend if you're looking for something low key with great food. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the staff is always friendly.
google avatar

Thuy Dan T.

Yelp
Chim! Thai Street Food is quaint women-owned spot in Pasadena! They have a small dine-in area with some outdoor seating. I've mostly only gotten take out from here and it's been fast and accurate time estimates. Roti dip - fresh thin naan served with curry sauce. Was decent. Tom Yum Soup - lots of mushrooms, this was our favorite dish we ordered. Duck curry - curry tasted well but I wasn't as big of a fan of the duck and pineapples. Would try a traditional curry next time. Laab - flavor was there! I wish the herbs like mint and lettuce were cut up so you got more with every bite. Fried banana - surprisingly stole the show! These were little wonton wrapped crispy pockets of sweetness. The banana filling was not too sweet either!

Yelp
This review is based on a takeout order. Overall, I really liked the foods we tried. We ordered: Creamy Tom Yum Ramen- literally my favorite dish from here. The soup is creamy as promised and the flavors are amazing. It has the right amount of tart and the noodles are packed separately with ground pork, a soft boiled egg, and one shrimp. I would definitely order this again! Maybe next time I'd add more shrimp since it only came with one. Papaya salad - perfectly flavored and not too spicy! Eggplant green curry with chicken - it comes with a side of rice or for extra charge, brown rice or sticky rice. The flavor is on point and goes well with the sticky rice. Beef fried rice - this one was more on the bland side, but goes well as a side dish with other main and more flavorful dishes. Sai Ua Sausage - this one had very complex but delicious flavors! I loved the crispy outside and the soft and juicy inside. Crispy chicken- oh! This is the crispy chicken you'd get anywhere. They do it well! Overall, I would order here again. I'd probably pass on the fried rice but everything else is really good!

Yelp
I've hesitated trying this place because since they opened I've tried them twice before and had been twice disappointed. After hours of shopping and hanging out in air conditioned stores yesterday, decided to get thai food to go from here. I'm really happy I gave them another go because everything was really great. Got pad Thai, pad kee mow, eggplant with tofu and some kind of salad I forget the name of, and they were all really delicious. pad kee mow at first glance looked like they forgot to season it, but it was surprisingly spicy and delicious! The eggplant was amazing mostly because I love eggplant in general. Everybody loved dinner yesterday, and I'm glad I ordered from them! If I ever want Thai food again, I know where I'm going.
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
Chim! is my favorite thai place in the SGV. My go-to meals are the spicy basil chicken with an added fried egg and the spicy eggplant tofu with added chicken, but everything I've had has been solid. Because they cook with real woks the food has that smokey caramelized wok hei flavor. If you take spicy, ask for it hotter, but be careful the thai hot is no joke. Service is friendly and fast. Sit indoors and check out the artwork of Bangkok and street vendors. It's worth a look!

Yelp
Update: You can see the character of these people when their response to my review is literally an essay implying all homeless people are just lazy. I'm a social worker that have worked in homeless services many years. Nobody chooses to be homeless. We will never understand what someone if going through unless we are in their exact shoes. It shouldn't matter weather other people don't like being around homeless people. That's called prejudice and discrimination. Homelessness can happen to anyone at any time. And they have completely missed the plot of this situation because this person was not homeless and could have easily eaten her food at home. And how is their response relevant to this situation when the lady was clearly trying to pay and was not asking for any favors despite obviously not being in any shape to work. She just wanted to be treated like any other customer. It is clear now that this establishment has a policy of discriminating against homeless individual as well as elderly disabled individuals that they perceive look too homeless. - The minor irritation is the fact that they advertise vegan options when almost nothing on the menu can be made vegan. Something we have never experienced at any Thai place. The ordered curry (the only vegan item) and it wasn't very good. I was was very watery as opposed to creamy and not particularly flavorful. However, the real reason for the one star is their lack of kindness and empathy. This elderly lady came in that looked like she may be unhoused. She had to ask them for like 10 minutes to give her a menu. They finally gave her one to get rid of her. She went to sit quietly outside (where there were zero customers) to look at the menu. Then they called the playhouse district employees to come get her. She tried to order soup and rice and had money ready to pay. They refused to take her order. We spoke to her outside and she told us she had a place to live but is disabled. She asked us to help her order. We went inside to try and order her some plain soup and rice to go. The manager (I think) comes and explains that they won't serve her anymore even though she's not one of the "crazy" homeless people because the previous day she had gotten sick (obviously not her fault) after eating there. She acknowledged that she knew she had money to pay. They literally refused to allow us to buy her soup to go to eat elsewhere even after we expressed our discontent on how they were treating the lady. A lady that was kind and sweet and assured us she no longer has an upset stomach. If the only reason you won't serve her is you don't want her getting sick on site then why can't she order take out? The entire scene was sad and horrible to watch. What has the world come to when a hungry little old lady with a disability can't get a restaurant to take her perfectly good money for simple soup and rice. We will never go here again and will advise our friends and all of our social media followers do do the same.

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was empty when I walked in, so I had my choice of seating. I used the QR code to look at the menu. I ordered the crispy chicken, pad thai with chicken, and the duck curry. I got all my food out at once. I was hoping I'd get the crispy chicken first, as I asked for it as an appetizer. Thankfully there was enough table space so it was more of a very minor inconvenience. The crispy chicken was my favorite dish. Very crispy and came out hot. However, both the pad thai and duck curry were lacking. The pad thai was very sweet. It didn't taste much of salt or spice, just sweet. It was very jarring. I even asked for prik nam pla to increase the spice level, but it didn't do much to help. As for the duck curry, it was really watery and also lacking in flavor. I wasn't very impressed with either of these two dishes. Unfortunately, I don't think I will try this place again. There are so many other thai spots nearby, and nothing stood out here for me.

Yelp
Got the chicken pad see ew. Very tasty. A bit on the salty side but very flavorful. Strong msg flavor in my opinion. Not greasy. Average portion size. Pretty good price. We called it in and it was just about done when we arrived. It was hot and ready to go within minutes. The dine in area looks nice. We might dine in next time

Yelp
A small restaurant with charm! I had stopped by DASH a couple times before and wanted to come here for Thai food, and I finally made the visit. My boyfriend and I are still living in the past, when we were visiting Thailand. We were initially thinking of going to our usual place, but I remembered this place and came. There are no more than seven tables in the restaurant, so it's quite small, but most of its customers are takeout, so I don't think seating would ever be a problem. The food was actually pretty good. We ordered Duck Curry, Pad Thai, and Tom Yum Noodle Soup, both with shrimp, and lastly, Chim!  Crispy Chicken.  Every one of them was delicious and no disappointment. I really liked the Tom Yum Noodle Soup. The soup has a nice blend of spices, and the balance is perfect but different from other Tom Yum soups I've tried elsewhere. Pad Thai was really good. The fact that it was close to yellow and not orange-red assured me before I even tasted it. The color resembled Pad Thai from Thip Samai in Bangkok, and it had a very similar taste. I think Chim has one of the best Pad Thais, at least in the Los Angeles area. The Chim! Crispy Chicken was crunchy and meaty, and the sauce was tangy and complementary. Duck curry was a bit sweet for me, but it was savory with a generous amount of duck meat. I almost broke my tooth because there was a small piece of hard bone in my curry. That was no fun. Another concern I have for this restaurant is that there is no restroom. I thought, by law, you got to have a restroom for each gender IF you are selling alcohol.  My boyfriend had to walk in the rain and go across the street to look for a restaurant. I still don't understand how a restaurant can operate without a restroom, especially when selling alcohol. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I have to look into this. All in all, the food was really satisfying, but the hard bones in my food, the lack of restrooms, and also the lack of customer service leave me with a three-star review for Chim!

Yelp
Easily our go-to Thai restaurant in the Pasadena area. I first came here years ago and thought it was amazing. Now that I live in the area, it's become a reliably delicious, affordable restaurant we probably come to 2-3x a month. My favorite dish is the Gai Zap. Whatever is in that vinegary, acidity onion sauce they put on top of the crispy chicken is really working! My other favorites include the basil eggplant with rice and duck noodle. I also had the curry puff once, and it helped itch my cravings for Singaporean food...

Yelp
All so flavorful. Loved the platter and soup. Yum Wai Wai (others picture says its name is different but I don't know maybe they changed the name) has great flavor and bit spicy at the end but great. However, the noodle is like instant ramen noodle and that was a bit off to me. But the flavor, great! Loved the papaya salad and the chicken on the platter. They all have flavors. The coconut soup has rive noodles and shrimps. I can just keep eating them over and over again. Service was attentive, couldn't ask for more. My friend and I sat outside and it was a great day to seat out and have a wonderful meal.

Yelp
Fantastic staff and a relaxed atmosphere. The food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Ever since I discovered this spot, it's become my go-to for a quick lunch every week!
