When it comes to going out, I'm SUPER picky with my food. Especially chicken... but every dish I ordered was cooked to perfection and I literally stuffed myself until I couldn't breathe anymore. Chimaek Town is located on NW 23rd and Thurman and is hands down, one of the best Korean restaurant in the Portland Area.
* The Fried Chicken Wings were crispy on the outside and soooo moist in the inside. I thought the batter was perfect. Not too much, not too little. I tried all of the flavors and the ones I liked the most were the Yangnyum and Soy Garlic. The other flavors were yummy too, but these were just my fav. The Fried Chicken Wings are served with korean-style picked radish which you must eat the chicken with. Koreans don't do chi-maek (chicken and beer) without their radish lmao.
* Spicy Rice Cake Pot (Tteokbokki) was yummy! There are so many different ways to cook tteokbokki. Some have a lot of sauce, almost like broth, and some cook the sauce up until it's like... thick and glazed over the rice cake. This was def on the side with more broth, which was super good, no complaints!
* Korean Army Stew (Budae Jjigae) was surprisingly good too and exceeded my expectations. I usually don't order this dish at restaurants because it always end up being so salty, but this one was honestly super duper good.
* Their Rice Cake Skewers are to die for. It reminded me of the ones I used to eat back in Korea as a kid! YUM
I will definitely come back and and try other dishes. I'm also happy that there is finally a Korean restaurant in Downtown Portland, NOT Beaverton. It was such a hassle to drive to Beaverton for just Korean food. The service is fast and the man and woman who seem to be the owners were super nice and friendly too. If you are reading this review, don't hesitate and just go try their food!
