Where to Find Korean Fried Chicken in Portland and Beyond - Eater Portland

"Located in the former Wild Wasabe space, Chimaek Town offers KFC in four flavors: honey butter, yangnyeom (sweet and spicy), soy garlic, and snow cheese, served as either wings or tenders with a side of pickled daikon. Eaters who like a good pairing should order one of the larger Korean hot pots: Korean army stew, beef bulgogi, or spicy rice cakes. Chimaek Town is open for takeout, outdoor dining, and delivery." - Seiji Nanbu

When it comes to going out, I'm SUPER picky with my food. Especially chicken... but every dish I ordered was cooked to perfection and I literally stuffed myself until I couldn't breathe anymore. Chimaek Town is located on NW 23rd and Thurman and is hands down, one of the best Korean restaurant in the Portland Area. * The Fried Chicken Wings were crispy on the outside and soooo moist in the inside. I thought the batter was perfect. Not too much, not too little. I tried all of the flavors and the ones I liked the most were the Yangnyum and Soy Garlic. The other flavors were yummy too, but these were just my fav. The Fried Chicken Wings are served with korean-style picked radish which you must eat the chicken with. Koreans don't do chi-maek (chicken and beer) without their radish lmao. * Spicy Rice Cake Pot (Tteokbokki) was yummy! There are so many different ways to cook tteokbokki. Some have a lot of sauce, almost like broth, and some cook the sauce up until it's like... thick and glazed over the rice cake. This was def on the side with more broth, which was super good, no complaints! * Korean Army Stew (Budae Jjigae) was surprisingly good too and exceeded my expectations. I usually don't order this dish at restaurants because it always end up being so salty, but this one was honestly super duper good. * Their Rice Cake Skewers are to die for. It reminded me of the ones I used to eat back in Korea as a kid! YUM I will definitely come back and and try other dishes. I'm also happy that there is finally a Korean restaurant in Downtown Portland, NOT Beaverton. It was such a hassle to drive to Beaverton for just Korean food. The service is fast and the man and woman who seem to be the owners were super nice and friendly too. If you are reading this review, don't hesitate and just go try their food!

Delicious hot and crisp Korean-inspired wings. Pictured are Soy Garlic, Honey Butter, Yangnyum, as well as one-sixth of a really delicious savory kimchi pancake. Highly recommend this place, very unique flavors! Soy Garlic was absolutely exquisite.

I am from South Korea and this actually reminds me of late 90’s Korean fried chicken. My wife has been picky with Korean fried chicken/ chicken wing, and she approved this one! So good!

I held a birthday dinner at this restaurants it was so wonderful. The employees went above and beyond to help accommodate us- they were so understanding about our orders, took pictures of us, and helped me set the candles for the birthday cake. They had the tables ready and set. The food was absolutely delicious and everyone left full. So happy and so appreciate of Chimaek Town.

The soy garlic wings were literally the vets chicken I’ve had in my entire life, the pickled radish was perfect to cut the richness. Great that they have soju too! Not to mention a parking lot :) 10/10 recommended

Bimimbop was decent. Small portion especially with meat but still okay. The wings on the other hand were really good. Nice and crispy and with some very novel flavor options. Overall good experience, I would imagine the food would be even better when not takeout (particularly as they have a very authentic stone bowl bimimbop option).
