The Ride-Along Report: First Takes From Last Night’s Dinner - London - The Infatuation

"What It Is: A South American steakhouse in Southwark. Perfect For: A Casual Mid-Week Dinner. We went for The Parrillada “El clásico” which means we got a taste of everything. There were two types of steak, two types of sausage, and it came with what can only be described as a boat-load of melted cheese. It’s not the best steak we’ve ever had in London, but it was semi-reasonably priced. Verdict: Not a restaurant to trek across town for, but if you’re in Southwark and craving a steak, it’s reasonably satisfying." - sam collins, oliver feldman, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, eileen twum

Ex-Brindisa Head Chef Will Open a New Argentinean Grill in Southwark | Eater London

"Opening on Southwark Bridge Road near Borough station, this traditional Argentinean parrilla focuses on charcoal-grilled meats and fish while also offering a range of pastas. It is the first restaurant from Nicolas (Nico) Modad — formerly head chef at Brindisa Tapas’ flagship Borough Market site — and Federico Fugazza, founder of the Argentine street-food stall Porteña, with Mijal Lasus as operations manager; the trio conceived the project after socialising at nearby Chilean restaurant El Vergel and have taken on the site after its owner retired. The 44-cover venue's menu highlights include pulpo asado (grilled octopus with stuffed polenta, smoked paprika and salsa criolla), grilled lamb cutlets, Argentine rib-eye and sirloin steaks, and starters such as mollejas (sweetbreads with chimi lemon sauce), provoletas (grilled Provolone) and empanadas. A selection of pastas — notably spinach and ricotta ravioli with mushrooms — reflects the founders' Italian heritage. The restaurant opens fully on Monday 29 January, with a soft-launch period running dinner-only Mon 22–Fri 26 January, lunch and dinner on Saturday 27 January, and brunch only on Sunday 28 January." - Adam Coghlan

Awesome argentinian food - pulpo asado, grilled chicken, short ribs, grilled veggies... All perfectly cooked. Good argentinian while, highly recommend the Elsa Bianchi Malbec. Desserts also very good. Overall one of the best restaurants I had lately.

We had a fantastic birthday dinner here. Our waitress Tatiana was attentive and friendly. The steak was grilled well and condiments accompanied the taste; we were surprised at how tasty the pavalone cheese with fries was! Overall would absolutely recommend this local run steak joint ☺️

A couple of colleagues from Argentina and Brazil recommended this place to me, and I have to say ‘They were absolutely right!‘. The quality of the meat was excellent, cooked to perfection, and full of flavor. The wine selection paired beautifully with the meal, and the portion sizes were just right, not too much, not too little. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Wonderful experience in this restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and helped us with the menu. The value for money on the steaks is brilliant and they all come with a side. Quality of the meat is fantastic. I think it is very authentic also. Big fan.

Emapanadas were nice starter...cheese and also beef were equally good. Enjoyed my octopus, good portion, could have done with a touch of salt and seasoning but there was a pickled relish so I guess it was fine. Added some sweet potato fries. Friends had lamb cutlets...looked nice. Other one had ribs, did not like it so much. To finish, ice cream and filled crepe...a tasty sweet desert. I liked it. Service was attentive. Overall, good experience, would come again.

My partner booked this restaurant for my birthday for dinner time. Chimichurris is located in a main street but is low key from the outside. Once you come in, you can see all tables are full and that’s for a reason we soon found out. Staff was welcoming and friendly, everyone speaks Spanish, which is a big + for us as it adds to the authenticity of the experience. We ordered in broken Spanish (love practicing when i can!!) and the staff really made me feel comfortable to be out of my comfort zone. We ordered a sirloin and ribeye with a chimichurris fries and normal fries. The ribeye really stood out for its tenderness and juiciness. Flavour of the grill on top was there and we enjoyed every bite of it. Chimichurris fries are cooked with melting provolone cheese so we were not disappointed at all. We also ordered their empanada con monzana for dessert with some ice cream, which came with a candle and everyone in the room sang along happy birthday. When the bill came, we found out the dessert was on the house, which we did not expect at all!!! 🫶 It felt special, notably thanks to Tatiana, for her warmth, kindness and smile; she really made our night. I hope the management will recognise her super customer service to us 🙌 Overall, we recommend it, and Chimichurris just earned 2 new loyal customers. ☺️

We could really taste the grilled in the meat! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Sweetbread is actually meat—it tasted amazing. One of my favorites was the short ribs, which were tender and packed with flavor. The portion sizes and prices are definitely worth it. On top of that, the service was excellent—you can really feel the passion from the team. We’ll definitely be coming back again!

Yelp
This place is literally amazing! It's the best Argentine food that we have ever had in London. Our son just returned from living in Buenos Aires and he has been searching for the perfect Argentine meal. Everything we had was delicious and the service was incredible. The owner, Nico, is wonderful and so friendly and welcoming to his guests. The parilla (grill) is a Argentine traditional grill which makes the meat and veggies taste great and the one at Chimichurris is authentic. Everything was fresh and delicious. We can't wait to come back again. Be sure to get dinner here- you will not be disappointed.
