The Saddest Restaurant Closures in Dallas 2024 | Eater Dallas

"Commenters noted that another operator has stepped into the former space and continues the previous restaurant's legacy in the Cedars; Rosin Saez said she was glad to see that continuity in that location." - Courtney E. Smith

ChimLanh - Review - The Cedars - Dallas - The Infatuation

"On the weekends, you’ll find this Vietnamese coffee and pastry spot inside Sandwich Hag, an eclectic bánh mìi shop in the Cedars neighborhood. The cafe window opens at 9am, which is when you’ll want to be there, in line, for the first crack at donuts from Frisco's beloved Detour Doughnuts and an iced or hot cà phê. Go for the pastries, and stay for the warm, welcoming vibes and the lunch menu from chef Reye Duong, which starts at noon." - Tiffany Yannetta

Great coffee and breakfast! I stopped by this morning at 9am to beat the heat and traffic. After learning of this place from tiktok, I took the drive to check it out and I was so happy. The barista was so friendly and helpful, she checked in on me several times and even took the time to get to know more about me. I ordered the iced mocha coconut egg coffee and an egg banh mi. Everything was just superb! The coffee was the perfect combination of chocolate, coffee, sweet cream egg, and coconut. The banh mi was fresh, cool with all the delicious and crisp veggies, and the egg was fried over medium and the fish sauce was the perfect dipping sauce for the banh mi. I can’t express how great my visit here was, the cool morning air and hustle and bustle of the city was a great experience. I highly recommend that you stop by and check them out

First time trying Chimlanh and this place is amazing! Chef Reye Duong is incredibly friendly and welcoming and extremely helpful when it came to ordering. I had the bánh mí bagel with spam and a fried egg and to drink the Cedars Saigon iced latte. Both were incredibly delicious! 10/10 first time experience!

Had the spam and egg bagel sandwich. It was very delicious. I would love to see this combination in a traditional baguette, banh mi style but that’s just a personal taste. I also ordered two coffees; I felt that the coffees were refreshing but nothing too crazy. They were good, and helped with the cool weather but I might try a different drink instead for next time. I also am a big supporter of what the owner represents and does for her community, so I will return. Overall, pretty tasty sandwich

Ran into this place on TikTok and decided to check it out; very happy I did! The coffee is strong and delicious, the pastries are tasty. Rey was so kind and inviting, she took the time to explain the menu to me since it was my first time. I really love that this place isn’t afraid to be loud about their stance on social matters around the community either. I’ve found my new favorite spot on this side of the metroplex

The best way to describe this place is home. chimlanh gave me a warm, family feeling. I tried not to be greedy but I got a little of everything. I got the Banh Mi bagel with the Cedar Sàigòn. I took the first sip of the drink in layers, I feel like I was being transported to a porch swing on my patio, it was smooth and beautiful. I was told that if I needed extra napkins for my bagel, I could get some, that never happened because after the second bite I didn’t sit the sandwich down. I got some chicken curry together, to savor that feeling one more time.

I adore places like this. Owned by Chef Reye Duong, who owned the best banh mi shop in Dallas. Sandwich Hag. She makes the most bold and unique coffee that transports you outside of the chaotic Dallas city vibe. The place as far as looks goes, shows out. The colors are pleasing and well kept. Beautiful homages to personal family and viet culture. Got the Ceder Saigon (pandan Viet coffee) so good. The sweet of the Pandan wasn’t overbearing and very pleasant with the dark bold flavor of well roasted viet coffee. With that refreshing and awakening beverage, I enjoyed a banh mi bagel. The pickled radish and carrot with the honey ham and the flavors of an everything bagel were a party in my mouth. This bagel is the coolest and most unique combo of flavors. It’s not dry. Not heavy, but refreshing and satisfying. The chef acknowledged me and made me feel so welcomed to the shop as well. Got the rainbow bagel that is so vibrant but also extremely flavorful. With the Honey Agave Schmear and the Almond Schmear. It’s a 10/10 experience for a sweeter bagel lover. So please I finally made time to go to this shop and enjoy such a high quality breakfast. GO HERE! This is a MUST GO!

Chimlahn in Dallas is nothing short of a heartfelt sanctuary—a place where the art of Vietnamese coffee transcends mere taste and becomes an experience of pure devotion. Every sip of their exquisite coffee carries the rich heritage and soulful essence of Vietnam, meticulously crafted to awaken your senses and nourish your spirit. But Chimlahn is far more than a café; it is a full of warmth and love within the community. The leadership here shines brilliantly, not only guiding with vision but cultivating a culture that feels like an extended family. The energy within these walls is radiant—infused with kindness, authenticity, and a profound sense of belonging. To step into Chimlahn is to be embraced by loving souls that celebrates connection, culture, and compassion. It is a haven where every time I visit, I am welcomed with open arms (literally a big hug) and every cup tells a story of care and craftsmanship. For anyone seeking not just extraordinary Vietnamese coffee, but also a place to feel genuinely seen and uplifted, Chimlahn is an unparalleled treasure. Chimlahn—is an inspiring testament to the beauty of community and the magic of a perfectly brewed cup.

I am not one to review places but this one is definitely worth it. Out of the way and and a gravel path through, you have a beautiful atmosphere with great cooling especially from this texas heat, came wearing a jacket. Didn't catch her name but amazing service explaining the notes of their drinks and giving recommendations easily left me smiling with how nice she was. The cedar saigon is exactly what I expected and hoped for when getting a refreshing coffee. Compared to the other coffee shops around I can only say this is the one to enjoy something different and still get that caffeine rush. Accompanied with a Jumbo kolache this was a great small lunch for me.

Yelp
Have you ever gone somewhere and felt at home? I don't mean that the place smelled like your grandparents' house or that they made a dish that your parents made growing up; I mean a place where you are so warmly welcomed as if you live there, where you are so comfortable having conversation and relaxing, and where you want to come back again and again? THAT'S CHIMLANH! To preface, I had NEVER been to Chimlanh (or Sandwich Hag) prior to this experience, yet everyone was so friendly that I felt like a regular! I was given warm greetings, a menu overview, recommendations, and a full experience when they served my order. All of their drinks are crafted with intentionality and attention to detail that is unmatched! I would consider myself a local coffee connoisseur and can promise there is no coffee like this in the DFW. I ordered the Cedar Sáigón (December Special) & the Cà Phê Trứng. The Cedar Sáigón is a creamy and rich iced Cà Phê with a refreshing coconut & pandan cold foam while the Cedar Sáigón is a hot Cà Phê with and egg cream that gives the drink texture and carries the flavor notes well. In addition the the general dining experience, they also are a great community contributor. At the restaurant, they offer games and books with a focus on Asian authors (like I mentioned earlier, intentionality is so notable here which I love!). They also serve meals to the VA weekly so truly an involved establishment for the Dallas community! I will definitely need to come back to try some of their food offering and recommend this highly to anyone looking for a new go-to coffee spot! P.S. when you GPS there, the entrance is in the back of the parking lot. From the front, I thought I was in the wrong place or that it had closed; however, was glad to see I just had to drive in a little further!

Yelp
Not a lot of Vietnamese coffee around the area, nice to see more representation. A little confusing to get to the area, it's tucked behind a sando shop. Service was great, friendly staff and very informative. Eager to help. Egg coffee came out lukewarm, would've liked it to be hotter, but the flavor was good.
