I spent the first 2 years of living in Sherman Oaks, trying different watering holes and bending elbows with the locals, but didn’t find “the one” until walking into the Chimney Sweep. Let me save you a journey of research, and tell you this place is like home. The bar and the folks running it are unpretentious, warm, and trustworthy. If you’re looking for your own Cheers, this might just be the place.

They are back and better than ever! So happy to have such an LA & Valley institution alive and thriving again. Cheers!

There are a handful of old school lounges and dive bars in the valley that everyone should visit. The Chimneysweep Lounge is a prime example. It seems untouched by time with the Naugahyde booths, brick walls and a big chimney in the center. They don’t have food, but do have a popcorn machine. There is a cool Mediterranean restaurant right next door and other places in the area. The staff was friendly. I nice relaxing place to come and grab a drink with friends. Quality brews on tap. While there is a private lot that is shared with neighboring businesses, expect to have to street park.

I went for nye. It was busy, friendly, laidback and they made sure to switch the tv’s to the countdown in time, which gives them 5+⭐️ from me! They also, quite importantly, pour a strong drink. They have a pool table, an outdoor area, & the shop next door has yummy food (sandwiches & *amazing* fries) and will deliver to you in the bar. It’s a great little bar tucked away just off the boulevard. I’m becoming a regular.

the Bar/ Lounge is awesome so much fun, and lots of laughs. my experience here is always great the Bar tender are super sweet and always takes care of me, the appetizers are delicious and the people there are great always a good time and well the drinks are off the hook!!! careful how much you drink... the outside patio is a hit! and the bouncer is a great guy..

Suprisingly crowded. So much so that there wasn't a place to be found to sit. Great mixed crowd with ages ranging from their 20's to their 60's. Its sort of hidden at the back of a old mall. They also have a couple pool tables and the drinks were decent, about right for the price with an OK selection of booze.

Dive bar? It used to be that a place like this was a prime example of your typical bar in the Valley. Damn yuppies, millennials or whatever wouldn't know a dive bar if it bit them in the ass.

When you put a dime or rather a dollar into the digital jukebox and press play for Sublime's Doin Time... You know it's gonna be a good night and a good time. The Chimneysweep Lounge known to most as simply just the Chimney Sweep is a longstanding San Fernando Valley and LA staple. This dive bar lounge has been a must since it opened it's doors in 1965. It's good music, great drinks as well as pours, darts, billiards, music videos, movies and sports games in the background at the bar or in the corners on large flat screens and lots of lounge seating via booths, tables and more... with a pretty spacious patio out front overlooking the Woodman Plaza Shopping Center where this place let's it's magic flow out of. I haven't been swept away by this local bar lounge since pre-2020 so it was nice to step in again with some of my oldest friends from college as well as old roommates at various points of the last 12 years of knowing them and celebrate life and all things Friday night. Cheers to Stephen, Drew and Marhyan... I love you all!! The bartenders are great when you order your drinks (at the bar only), but they do take their time and I appreciate that... It just can be a bit of a wait when it picks up and it does pick up! I was so confused who to order from when I first arrived as I guess someone was about done for the night, but she let me know the other bartender would take care of me. They ran out of the Blood Orange Hefe I was eyeing (good stuff), but did let me know they had more, just needed to change out the keg which was pretty quick. When I came back for my second beer I had yet another bartender lol... She was super cool and super friendly. My guess was that the bar side of the bar is covered by one person and the other covers walk ups and backs them up. Just grateful for good service either way. Q Tips: Limited parking in the lot, because it's in a busy plaza next lots of business as well as directly to the right of Carnival Restaurant which also becomes Carnival at Midnight on weekends with extended late night hours. Street parking and ride share are your friend, but if you're local and with friends... Night strolling isn't bad at all! The restrooms are extremely clean - they have men's and women's only, but are super welcoming of everyone from what I've seen. The jukebox is $1 per song or two to skip it to the next song to be played... The music never stopped the entire time we were there as people/mostly regulars new to keep going. Q-mentary: A group of girls who got very very lit selected a plethora of bangers by Britney Spears and I'm all for it, but it did get to be too much after multiple songs in a row lol... They were just living their best life, dancing in a circle and I ain't mad about at all... but Marhyan said that's our cue to call it lol Q-Cap: Overall we had a great time enjoying free wi-fi, each other, or corner section (got there early for a prime spot). Definitely will be back soon!! And yes they have an actual large stove chimney on display across from the bar in case you were wondering.

Love this place. A true local gem. Open late night and a great down to earth feeling each time you go. Service is terrific and the atmosphere is laid back old school. Folks from all ages and all walks of life mix and mingle in a cool Hollywood throwback atmosphere.

First off, it's a dive bar, so as long as your expectations adjusted to acknowledge this, you can celebrate what it is. It's definitely a dive bar in a good sense. They have pool tables, couches and things, make it nice to hang with friends when it's late at night, your friend is in from England and you want a drink and you don't want a bunch of fuss. They also play the games so that's nice. The reason for the 4/5 stars is the bathroom was a mess, yes we were there a little alter but not on a weekend so not sure on that, it doesn't strike me as a place you'd expect a shady bathroom, and the bartender seemed pretty unhappy-maybe he was having a bad day so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because we ordered a gin and tonic and 2 beers and were quick to pay so we weren't super high maintenance in our orders. Also, people smoke on the patio pretty profusely and that can leak into the establishment proper, which is ultimately why we left, the smoke bothered some of us with compromised lungs so that wasn't great. However, if you do fancy a cigarette at a bar in the valley, this is your place! They played great 80's and 90's music. Overall, great vibe for the type of bar it was. My friends really liked it. We'd venture back again for a late night drink and some pool if we're in the mood.

Best bar in the entire world. Will spend my Birthday here for generations to come and every holiday and meet n' greet I throw. I'm done trying out the gentrifier wine bars on the Eastside and other hipster locations around town. Im a down home valley girl & so are my friends, this is where it started and this is where it will end. There's no other bar like this in the world! Next time, a round of jager bombs on me! I think this is my favorite bar is the valley now. The atmosphere is really cozy and the fireplace is just perfect. Customer service is good, and the drinks were made really nicely and strong. The outside area is great too. I had a very pleasant experience. I will definitely come back again.

Came here with a friend and my partner for a drink. Had a great selection of spirits, beers on tap, white claws, and more! The music was Backstreet Boys and other songs you may have heard in the 2000s.... Which I loved.... So definitely not mad at that. It's your basic hole in the wall. Prices seemed fair. Place was comfy. A bit dark on the inside but what dive isn't? Would easily go back and you should check it out too!

The Chimneysweep is a Valley classic. It's not the biggest bar around, but I like that it has somewhat of an intimate feeling. The bartop was clean, drinks came fast, and bartender was super friendly. This is a kind of bar where you walk in and chat with everyone inside like you've known each other for years, but some people do get a little sloppy. It's a dive, what else would you expect? I love the burning fireplace and festive holiday decor inside. It has that "classic" LA vibe with the leather booths and old timey decor. There's plenty of seating area inside and they have a very tiny outdoor space that's probably just best for standing. They also have a pool table that gets pretty crowded at night for all the inquiring pool sharks. The ONLY downside here is that you have to pay to play music. If no one pays for music, it's dead silent in there. Awk. They used to have Karaoke, but I didn't see a set-up when I was there on a Tuesday night. Overall, the Chimneysweep is a good time and definitely a locals-only sort of spot. You can park in the lot of the shopping center too which is super convenient!

It was never the same after Tom and Morty sold it. It was a quiet neighborhood bar with a great mix of people. Yeah, I ran into Annette Funicello often there. What a lovely and gracious lady.

Have been a patron for years, great social spot with great drinks and Bar service, it does get crowded but kinda adds to the fun. I have never not had a good time here and I highly recommend.

Ada violation not letting service dog in. My dogs was even here a year ago and both the security guard Duane and the manager Juan denied entry. They asked questions not allowed by ada law (to which I answered) and demanded medical documentation to let me service dog in. Mind you someone inside the establishment had a small dog with them in their jacket at the time. I showed the manager the ada site to help inform him of the law, to which is responded "you're showing me a website". Entire conversation was recorded via video. If you also had ada violation please reach out as I have a civil lawsuit pending now with the establishment

The bartender was really rude for no reason. I wouldn't go back. Horrible service. Drinks were not good at all and over priced.

Love the Sweep. It's my go to after work most weekdays. Long days at work, I enjoy coming into this old school dive bar that has its local regulars as well as a rotating crowd of all ages. The bartenders are friendly and attentive and remember your regular drinks. It's perfect to grab a drink or 2 or 3, chit chat with the regulars, a group or just pit stop.

Went into the bar on sat around 6 with my buddies we had such a good time the bartender Kourtney was awesome. We came in for one drink and ended up staying , she gave us a pass for my car so I could leave it over night! I never knew they offered that most definitely coming back! She was great! ! Love the sweep ! Top notch service and hospitality!

We came here over the weekend and absolutely loved it. It's a super low key bar with great music and affordable drinks which is so hard to find in Sherman oaks would definitely recommend if you're trying to find a fun place to chill at in the valley !

Chimneysweep is my favorite bar in the Sherman Oaks area. I have been a loyal customer for the past 10 years. I usually go three times a week, my husband loves to see his favorite games there. what I like about this place is the hospitality of the staff and management. I can highly recommend this spot. you would not be disappointed. Cristina G

Your jukebox is a joke. Money maker. But good drinks and chill people. If it's crowded don't bother with jukebox.

My condolences go out to Edie as well as her friends and family! This bar just lost a great soul and an amazing daughter, friend , and a hard worker! the ambiance is not going to be the same with out her around. Breaks my heart to hear this news!

The bartenders here are AMAZING. Today is Edie, the sweetest of sweet. She is so attentive and always smiling. The weekend bartenders, of which Edie is one as well, are THE SHIT. This cannot be an easy bar to tend. It's packed, loud, and the patrons can be aggressive. But Melisa, Mory, and Edie are like ninjas... Constantly in motion, watching everyone who walks up to the bar, making sure to serve everyone in the fastest time possible. I mean, you can't ask for more. I highly recommend this place. Though please, don't crowd me.

Chimney sweep is one of the best bars in the area. You can't go wrong with the best service, good drinks, amazing ambiance and great staff. Come here after a long day to relax and unwind. The owner is super attentive as well and the staff always makes sure customers are well taken care of. This bar will always be my go to when I want a drink, a chill vibe and excellent service. 10/10 recommended.

I came from out of town to find a gem in the San Fernando Valley. Great bar, ambience, good drinks and over all the people. Starting from the doorman to the host andce b erybidy was so welcoming. 100% recommended. If you ever come to California and specifically the Sherman Oaks area , this is the place t o relax or have fun.

This place is always so great I love Edie! and the way she makes her Michelada's those are the best !!! John and Mory are always so good at night the drinks are fabulous!! The Chimneysweep doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is: a low-key local bar with plenty of regular patrons, strong drinks, and quality bartenders. I've been coming here (on and off) for almost 18 years; it's a casual place to get drinks with friends. There are plenty of regulars, and people are friendly. The drinks are far cheaper than you will find elsewhere in LA; I swear the prices are ALMOST as low as they were back in 2005. There are two parking lots to choose from when you go to the Sweep, alleviating one of the stresses of going out in Los Angeles. Great drinks, affordable prices, good people, fun atmosphere. :)

Yelp guided me to this establishment while I was on a business trip in Sherman Oaks. It did not disappoint. A genuine old-school, dive bar in the every sense of the word. Dark room, low-hanging lights at the bar, padded seats along the wall and people who came to drink, not to dance or order food. They have a smoking area out front. It's hidden behind a screen and some shrubs so you nicotine junkies can keep your secret.) Colorful clientele. Good for people watching (but don't stare.) If you want a cool, dark, safe place to relax and sip a cocktail, this is it. I'll be back. PS I read the review of the poster who was upset that their dog and they were "shunned". My guess is that they walked into the smoking area out front. "But nicotine junkies are all the same, at a petting party or a poker game, everything's got to stop so they can have a cigarette."

This is my local place and I've been going for years. The vibe is so welcoming and warm. Millie is hands down the best bartender ever! Every other bartender is too! it's like a small family. There is always fun, strong drinks, great music and the ambience is never off. The patio is a plus on warm nights. The fire place is always burning and makes for a warm and welcoming area. My friends, family and i love this place. definitely check it out! Cheers :)

Great bar. Great down home bar. Bartenders are fantastic. They really can read your mood and correspond to it. Does get packed during busy time but still awesome!

I have been coming to this bar for years and it's my absolute favorite bar in the valley! I live walking distance and come all the time to see my favorite bartenders Mory & Edie. They are the absolute best and make it feel like home, it's the best when they're working together!

I was visiting a friend in the San Fernando Valley, and I'm so grateful he took to this great place. Perfect ambiance, good drinks, nice people, both the client and the staff. I'll definitely go back. 100% recommended if you want to repax or have fun. This is the place to be.

This sports bar is absolutely a Vibe, great drinks and excellent service. If you're in Sherman Oaks and want a cool place to have a drink or spend all night, this is the Bar to go. Very clean, and the bartender Edie is just amazing. It gets busy, but they are fast to serve your drinks. I usually come to the sweep 2 to 3 times a week. Definitely my place to go.

Best bar I've been to in years. I found this on Yelp and read the reviews. I hoped for something old school and was blown away by the cool factor. My bro lives near this place and it is in our permanent Hall of Fame. I will be returning as frequently as possible.

Great local dive bar in Studio City. They went all out with Christmas lights and it's a fun atmosphere. Picks up a bit around happy hour and the crowd is fun people looking to enjoy a good time.

Excellent dive bar. Always cozy and rarely crowded. It's a locals kind of place and a Valley Institution. The bartenders make a mean Moscow Mule. It's our go-to place for simple cozy fireplace on a rainy day.

You probably won't have a night that changes your life here but if you're looking for a place that's low-key, with friendly service, cheap drinks, and the occasional beautiful patron then Chimneysweep might be the place for you. Parking can be rough on busy nights.

The bar has become a graveyard without mory. Letting her go was a mistake. She's the only reason anyone goes there and this is from someone who's trans and as a trans woman she made the bar feel safe. Without her there the vibes are terrrjble and sketchy. Yep, this place is elite. Absolutely a vibe! It's family owned vibes are excellent. They have food, great drinks, and excellent service. If you're in the Sherman Oaks area and want a cool place to poke your head in and have a drink, or spend all night vibing out, this is the spot! Take my word for it, this place is just awesome. I've had multiple excellent experiences. What makes it really stand out, aside from the wonderful atmosphere, is the great attitude from the workers here. You just can't beat that!

Came here on a Friday night at 1 am with a group of 6. And it was a blast. If you're a dive bar that can do that you've got my 5 stars. They also took our multiple orders even though they were really crowded. We truly had a blast.

One of the best little bars in the valley, the Chimneysweep Lounge has been a local hotspot for 60 years. Take a trip back in time and enjoy the decor and smells of the 1960's. From the vintage fireplace in the center of the room, to the cheesy (chimneysweep) artwork and tacky wood paneling, 'The Sweep' is beyond retro - it's just old! With that being said, It's not fancy but the drinks are cheap and during the right hours, the service is good. On weekends the chimney sweep gets packed and turns into a bit of a pickup place. It's much more relaxed and comfortable during the week. This is one of the last great dive bars in town so if you haven't been here, you need to go. Four Thumbs Up for the Chimneysweep Lounge!
