A Yosemite Street favorite with an old‑school counter, fast wok work, and big portions. Visit Stockton calls out its neighborhood roots and crowd‑pleasing chow mein; regulars swear by pepper ribs and hot‑and‑sour soup.

Very attentive staff. I got the Chicken Fried Rice with Green Bean Chicken. The portions are amazing. It is pretty humid inside though

I went there with my two sons. The food was delicious the service was great! The Sweet and Sour Pork was the best! The meat was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I recommend it if you are having the urge for excellent Chinese food then the China Village is the place for you.

I do not know why I don’t eat here more often! It is so much better than all the other Chinese food restaurants in Stockton.

We came to pickup our boat from the service and the batteries died. We had to weight ’till they get replaced and walked to the restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is outdated and has 60’s vibe, it would look more happier with a fresh coat of paint and a deep cleaning. No AC, there is a big commercial ugly looking fan that was blowing air. By the reviews I had high expectations and was looking forward to eat at this place. The food was average, the food presentation looked like the restaurant. The server was nice. My personal opinion of this place - I will definitely eat there if there are no other choices.

Google
Mongolian beef- ok. A bit heavy on the oyster sauce, so has a slight seafood flavor. (Or they just didn't clean the pan between dishes). No dried red chili - so unfortunately not spicy . Veg chowmein good flavor but large noodles, and very few veg. S&S Chicken: ordered w/out green peppers and it was almost all chicken- barely any onions and no pineapple Over cooked and not much flavor. Similar to frozen dinner from grocery store. Mu shu pork: good, needs more hoisin sauce for pancakes. Crab rangoon: good filling but didn't like the vessel. Prefer the crimped wonton shape. Ants climbing on trees: good flavor and spice level; reminds me of Thai beef lettuce cups, but with Chinese seasonings. Overall the service was very good and the food is not bad. Still looking for great.

Google
Super cheap here (multiple dishes are around 9.5) and the food is ok and the service is fast! The Kung Pao chicken is a little spicy but tastes good. I can't believe $9.5 can get a big plate at the first place 😂. I won't recommend two mushrooms beef because they are covered by other vegetables and I only find a little mushrooms and beef.😅

Google
I love their service and they are very accommodating for vegans. The food is delicious! It's always clean inside and it's in such a cute area.

Google
Been yrs since we've been here. Small n simple place. We were in the neighborhood .. love their Curry Chicken. My hubby ordered Sweet n sour Shrimp. Simple place n great price. It's a neighborhood restaurant . Locals really support them. Family owned.

Yelp
Very first time trying this place and it's already our go-to spot for Chinese food. Really good quality. Tastes fresh. The chicken and beef are super tender, the sauces are flavorful and the service is friendly. *Two thumbs up*

Yelp
Love China village, it's our local Chinese place. Had concerns when it was sold to another family. Concerns were unfounded. Food is still amazing. Large portions, flavorful sauces. Dine in or take out we're always get attentive and courteous service. Simple seating choices. 2 tables a couple of booths and a counter. Simple decor. Consider us regulars

Yelp
Oh my god this was so good. The sweet and sour pork had the perfect texture, and the chow mein flavor was unmatched. Cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
Very nice food. Tried tonight and very impressed with quality and price. Staff are very friendly. All around great!

Yelp
Excellent food at reasonable prices. My only request would be that they expand their combo lunch plate and dinner options. I always like for my combos to include fried rice and chow mein which China Village does not. Their soups are exceptional. I love their wonton soup and China Village Noodle soup. Portions are huge and can serve as multiple meals.

Yelp
I happened to be in the area for lunch. I was craving Chinese food. I Yelped of course, and found this spot. It's located in a cute little "village" with several small shops. There is limited parking on the street so you may have to walk a bit. The storefront is a little hidden but thanks to Maps, I found it. It looks like a very old establishment but I was greeted as I walked in. I placed an order for Mongolian beef and upgraded the side to chow mein for an extra $3, so $13 total. It was a little higher than I expected, considering Chinese takeout. I waited for about 5 to 10 minutes for my food. At first, I felt like the food was really greasy, so if you like greasy, this is your spot. The Mongolian had a lot of onions in it but it balanced out the flavor nicely. After a few bites and some napkins, i was able to enjoy it. The greasiness and the MSG got me. There are other Chinese takeout places for less but this did have a unique taste to it that I ended up enjoying.

Yelp
Quick lunch with friend at another older restaurant in Stockton. Service was lightning fast, no sooner than my order was placed, I heard the wok in the kitchen stir frying away, and got my orders soon after. A big plus, the chow fun I ordered exhibited good "wok hei". I also asked for Chinese mustard and they had it, a real plus in my book showing that the restaurant cares about the quality of their products they are serving. The interior is reminiscent of a old diner complete with counter seating and booths, very refreshing. The menu is fairly limited but what they prepare is on point.

Yelp
I was downtown and looking for a place to take my family to lunch. My dad is a picky eater so we decided on China Village. The restaurant is small and cozy and the tables fill up fast. There is street parking out in front. The service is great and the staff is nice and friendly. We ordered a couple of dishes. The food is really good and priced very reasonably. We had the Mapo Tofu, Mixed Vegetables, Chow Mein, Chicken and black bean sauce, and a chicken combo plate. We ended up with a lot of left overs. I look forward to coming back here again.

Yelp
Have been going to China Village for years. The food is consistently good and staff is friendly.

Yelp
Been coming here for years, and it is one of my all time favorites in town. The chicken chow mein and hot and sour soup are my faves.

Yelp
Used to come here everyday when I lived down the street from the business. Nice little family owned hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. Very affordable and includes large portions. Servers are always friendly and always remember what I always order. I always order the lunch special which is $10. The chicken stir fry with green beans and fermented beans that includes soup and appetizers. Perfect!

Yelp
We have been eating here for 45 years and it has always been good up until recently. It is changed hands many times and usually the quality did not go down. However when we ate there recently, the quality had gone down significantly. They really skimp on the meat to the point where there's hardly any in meat dishes. After 45 years we will be there no more. Sad to see them go, they were our favorite Chinese restaurant in town.

Yelp
Their wonton soup and general's chicken is amazing! It's pretty close to my work so it's very convenient for me. I've been going to this place for many years.

Yelp
This place got better! HITW(hole in the wall) status been Coming here for about 15 years. You always need a GoTo cheap Chinese spot that makes cheap fresh food woth huge portions. No frills, a little dated, a little dingy, needs updating but not to the point that you're turned away. This is the place. The food has always been fresh and cheap. It has always been good enough for the price to keep coming back. Recently, they seem to have undergone new ownership or management, may be synonymous in this case, but they also added a cook, Fu, that was the main cook at an old revered HITW in Stockton, George's Chinese Deli. (I frequented Georges Since the late 80's) They boasted the best Garlic fried chicken in town, you're lying if you disagree! I saw Fu at China Village and can verify he is there cooking now. With that said, the food is even better now. Just brought the wife and 2 of our adult kids - ordered the following: 1. Fried Green Beans - appetizer, plentiful, freshly fried, light, not greasy, crispy, well seasoned. Delicious with the sweet & sour sauce. Wish they had ranch. 2. General Chicken - breaded, fried nuggets in a salty, sweet dark red sauce - was delicious and stayed crunchy in the heavy sauce. The sauce is tangy, slightly spicy - fine for everyone. Served with fried rice, was excellent. Better than before. 3. Lemon Chicken - wife's favorite - lightly breaded and fried chicken breast - crispy but still moist, sauce was lemony sweet and was excellent. 4. Walnut Shrimp - battered fried big shrimp, tossed in a sweet white sauce. Shrimp was not fishy at all. No fishy smell. Was suculent and crispy. Sauce was not overwhelmingly sweet with pieces of walnut mixed in. Was excellent. 5. Chicken with mixed veggies - white meat, tender, stir fried with carrots, snow peas, onions - was cooked perfectly. Sauce had black bean -U could see it. Salty, savory with just a touch if sweet. Excellent. 6. Ginger Chicken Chow Mein - chow mein with no veggies infused with ginger - this is my wife's signature dish she created with Fu's help at Georges in the 90's. Since Fu is here now, my wife requested it from the waitress. She was confused but we assured her that Fu knows what it is and can make it. He did and it was spectacular. With these new updates, China Village has risen to OUR GoTo Chines HITW in Stockton! Those that know, Go, if you don't, please give it a try! This meal was great. Service was equally good - very nice women served us and gave us refills, checked on us continually. They're English is not great but is fine. Go there ASAP for a great meal.

Yelp
Ginger chicken chow mein, lemon chicken lunch combo, chicken n vegetables combo lunch, walnut shrimp lunch combo and general chicken lunch combo. Green beans appetizer. Foo is the cook here he's from back in the day George's. Service is good and quick. Place is same as always. Booths and tables with some counter dining. Opens at 11am closed on Sundays. Egg drop soup is so good. Ginger chicken was on point! Just like he used to make for us back in the day. The lemony chicken was served hot. Green beans were seasoned so well crispy too. Everything was great and will come back

Yelp
Will definitely be back!!!! This place is the bomb I have been to a lot of restaurants and I'm always trying to find authentic cooking this place has the right recipe for authentic cooking truly enjoyed the food here so tasty full of flavor they even gave you homemade almond cookies at the end of your meal. This place had a lot of stars had to come and check it out for myself. I will definitely be back. The prices are right and the amount they gave you is awesome order item C for two , and I still took all kinds of food home atmosphere is great older building. Don't get tricked by your eyes place is clean and the service was awesome we where constantly being waited on and making sure that everything was OK can't beat that even in a high priced Chinese restaurant you can be ignored here they make sure you are served and comfortable. I have to give this place a five star if I could gave a 10 stars I would . I will definitely be back! There prices are so reasonable. You need to come try this place. Even left with a good fortune cookie reading. Lol

Yelp
Tried this spot for the first time. WOW!!! The flavor in the China Village rice and wonton soup were delicious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. No need to reach for the soy sauce. Thank me later.

Yelp
The BEST Chinese food i ever had!!! Everything is DELICIOUS . And the Customer Service 10/10 very very nice. Thank you

Karina D.

Yelp
Service was great! This was my first time there and you can tell the owners have formed genuine relationships with their customers over the years. The place feels like an authentic restaurant. The food was great too! This is the best Chinese food I've had in Stockton in a long time. This became my go-to spot when craving Chinese food. The chow mein was great, 9/10. Mongolian beef was okay, 8/10. The wonton was also very good 9/10. Definitely will be coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I , on a business trip, arrived right before closing and the staff was super friendly. The building is really old, so colder temperatures, but it adds to the atmosphere. The food was amazingly full of flavor! My wife had House fried rice and I ordered the Tan Tan noodles. We ordered to go: Egg fu young and Mapo tofu soup; even the next day we were not disappointed in the flavor. We will definitely be coming again!

Yelp
It's been too long since I last reviewed China Village and coincidentally a long time since my last visit. When I lived and worked in Stockton I was a regular. We'd plan our lunches here and get takeout frequently. They always do a great job of making delicious food quickly and with generous portion sizes. On my latest visit I was in town for some meetings in Stockton and met up with a friend for lunch. We managed to grab a booth in the back corner. They get very busy during lunch and make sure to get people in and out quickly, though they'll also let you take your time and linger if you're wanting to. We ordered the potstickers for the table, the sweet and sour pork and the Hunan beef. As we waited for our meals they brought drinks and soup to enjoy. The food came out shortly after and was piping hot and as delicious as I remembered. They're also very generous with the portion sizes. We both ended up with plenty of leftovers- enough for at least another meal. And we were stuffed. I miss this cute restaurant and will definitely make it a point to visit more often when I'm passing through, even if it's just for takeout.

Yelp
This was the best food I've had in a while. I'm a rice snob (lol) I found that this was my #1 top. I normally don't finish an entire combo plate. I did this night. Sweet sour pork plate. Absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Review is for takeout. I was craving chicken chow fun and it was soooooo delicious!! Perfectly hit the spot. I've eaten here 3x and each time it's been delicious!

Yelp

Yelp
Hands down best Chinese food in Stockton you can never go wrong with a good hole in the wall..
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
Excellent food! The best Chinese food I have ever had. I travel 30 miles one way once a month just so I can come and eat here. I buy a lot and bring it home. These are things I ordered recently. The Hong Kong style chow mein is so good! It comes with beef, chicken and shrimp. I always add extra proteins because their meats are so delicious. I don't know what they do their meats and sauces but the meat is so tender and soft and their sauces do not need anything on them. They're so good. Service is excellent. They're so nice. If you haven't tried this place, I promise you give it a try and you'll be hooked. Plus their prices are way below average which surprises me because for the food that they make, I would pay double.
google avatar

Jose H.

Yelp
One of the best food I ever had thanks to yin for making my food the way I like it I will be coming back
google avatar

Amada M.

Yelp
Best chicken fried rice in town! Their China Village noodle soup is so delicious! I also love their potstickers.

Yelp
I have been coming to this restaurant for the last couple years... Even before the new ownership, and the food is always fire! Now, when you call to order, please be aware that it is not someone at the restaurant taking your order. They have an offsite ordering system, and, if you are not familiar with the restaurant, it may throw you for a loop. I recommend that you go to the restaurant if you are able. It is definitely worth the trip and the people that work there are awesome! If you have not given them a try, I absolutely recommend it. My husband and I usually order the general chicken with the sauce on the side, the barbecue pork fried rice, and the mixed steamed vegetables, extra broccoli! Give them a try! You will not be disappointed.

Al F.

Yelp
I asked them if they made Singapore rice noodles as it wasn't on the menu at the time. The chef knew how to make it so they made it for me it was so delicious.

Erika A.

Yelp
Got food a couple days ago. Very disappointed in the quality of their food. Old fried Rice that was Stal, Veggies where old looking and over cooked. Spent a lot of money $$$
google avatar

Caren F.

Yelp
Still the best Chinese food in town!!! Hot & Sour Soup, Ants Crawling Trees, are a couple of our favorite things.
google avatar

Brandon W.

Yelp
Can't beat the price for good Chinese food. It's a classic hole in the wall business that has been there for years. They will work with you in order sizes if you need to feed an army.

Yelp
Worse experience EVER This review is on service and cooking practices. I called for takeout things went well. I go pick up the order and I don't check the bag they gave me due to having a baby with me in her stroller. I get home 4 miles away and before I get into my house I get a phone call. Hey we made a mistake can you bring the food back and you will get yours. I'm like oh it's wrong I check the bag definitely not mines. I say well I have a small child and this is an inconvenience she then says "you don't have to come back you can keep it and we'll make his over." I say I want what I ordered and she says " that order was worth more than you paid" Mmm excuse me?! Doesn't matter then gets unprofessional. I tell them to make the customers order over and I'm coming. I then call back to talk to a manager and ask for some type of gesture for me coming all the way back. They offer egg rolls. Ok whatever. We hang up. I get another call from the first rude lady "where are you the customer is here waiting" I told them I'm not understanding why you would be trying to give a customer a bag I opened and said you would make over. She ignores everything (doesn't speak English good) and keeps asking am I outside kindly rushing me. I finally get to the place ok here is the food. I see my correct bag just sitting on the counter and they finally add the egg rolls on top. I ask them what's going on why is his food being made over and not mines. Rude lady looks at me with no understanding what so ever. I confirm with other customer is this the bag you brought back he says yes. I look at her like why are you choosing to make his over and not both. Still no answer. I explain to her the season and covid and still a blank stare. I then say just give me a refund and she understands that and starts the process. I don't want to make this about race but it sure did feel like my thoughts and feelings were not heard due to my skin and they didn't hesitate for the other customer as he is waiting with a smile. Had to figure something else out for me and my child ugh.

Yelp
I was a little torn between giving this place 3 or 4 stars based on my last visit, but overall I have always enjoyed the food here so I went with 4. When you first walk in don't expect much. It's a hole in the wall type place with as much seating crammed in it that's possible including some booths, tables and a short counter. It is in bad need of a makeover or just a good deep cleaning. However, the food and service make up for the looks of the place. Of the things we've tried, everything has been really tasty. Some of our favorites include the pork chow mein, sweet and sour pork and the broccoli beef. Service is always friendly although it gets pretty busy at lunch and peak dinner time so plan on a wait if you don't order ahead. Bottom line-if you're looking for reasonably priced, tasty Chinese food and don't care about eating at a fancy place, China Village might be your answer!

Darlene Z.

Yelp
This is a restaurant you can come to and get authentic Chinese food not much to say about the atmosphere. The service is great very friendly. Our family eats there at least once a week delicious.

K A.

Yelp
Good food, good service. Long time customers. We keep coming back. To go orders always correct.

John K.

Yelp
The most excellent Chinese food in all the land! This place oozes of local charm. Decor that transcends time and place...check. Service that defies the laws of etiquette until they know you by face or name...check. Simple menu with all the classics...check. Fair prices...check. Super hot food is always served or taken away scalding hot; you get the picture. Also, this place is tucked away in a neighborhood where most large cities should be trying to protect little hamlets like this. There are so many cool stores in the area that only enhance the CVE: China Village Experience. You know you've hit a home run when the people taking food out are super excited about their order and chat it up with the owner/cashier. My faves include pork fried rice and chow mein. Although I think my new favorite is the Mongolian Beef that has a certain charred flavor that makes you shovel it into your mouth...not kidding! There are classics too but I don't want to get into that. The wor wonton soup is amazing as is the sizzling rice soup. There really is something for everyone here so you can't go wrong any day of the week. You can be confident that when you order take out it will be ready faster than the estimate and you will be able to burn your hand opening up the container, also still not kidding :) Do your Chinese DNA a favor and support local by hitting up this hidden gem of Stockton CA.

Yelp
I came right when they opened. I ordered broccoli and beef and vegetable fried rice, and it came with chicken corn soup. They didn't skimp on anything, and everything was cooked just right. I definitely would recommend coming here.
google avatar

Kimba Z.

Yelp
I have been a patron of China Village for 25 years. It sold recently and is under new ownership. And the food still taste great! The new owners are friendly nice and attentive. They say that they don't use MSG which is a plus. If I had a suggestion it would be that the food can be very beige. For example, the chicken fried rice is rice, soy sauce, chicken and a little green onion. Maybe add some peas, carrots and eggs for color.
google avatar

David V.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in town !!! So far everything has been delicious. I just had Mongolian beef, hunan beef, and combination chow mein and sizzling rice soup, and it was on point. Make sure you try it this place

odan r.

Yelp
Very friendly, fast to greet you and take your order. Great selection of different styles of Chinese food to pick. The Mongolian Beef is a go to for me with steamed rice. Sit in or take out whichever you choose. Parking can be a little challenging during peak times but worth it, also with other businesses around the area as well. The restaurant itself is a small, quaint and older style interior. It was a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Scott M.

Yelp
The food and people are really great. It is a small neighborhood place that I hope never goes away.
