China Wok is ok, not great, not bad, just ok. I ordered Egg Drop Soup (small) $1.50 and Fried Noodles ($0.50) along with Mongolian Beef. I few things first about ordering online from them. Lunch was advertised through Sunday till 3 PM. I ordered at 2:30 PM on Sunday and was unable to make good on the lunch special Mongolian Beef at $6.95. I was pumped about the lunch special price but unfortunately was unable to make good on what was advertised. Anyway, bought the $9.95 full dinner portion. At checkout for take out it added $4 to a $ 13 order making it a 30% tip. First off, it's pickup, and if you are like me, you view this as a non tipping scenario or 10% tops. Certainly not 30%. Luckily you can change that. I changed it to zero. When did pickup in this country start becoming a tip situation? Covid ? Really, isn't handing the customer their food a minimum requirement for pickup?? I mean can you do less ? Anyway, I digress.
As for the egg drop soup, it was on par with what you would hope it tastes like. Believe it or not some places can't even get that right ( example Meso Asia, tasteless there). The 50 cent noodles ( came in two packages) looked burnt but when mixed with soup went well. For $2 I could have filled up on that alone ( when somedays I am not so hungry) rather easily so thumbs up on that item.
As for the Mongolian beef with fried rice, it was a bit on the heavy side with the onions. The onions were also a bit too thick and not cooked enough. A little less beef as a result compared to some other places but not too bad. The beef seemed to be a mixture of real beef and some other meat that looked like beef but required little to no chewing. Not sure what I experienced there. The taste of the non chew beef was rather not there, could have swallowed it whole without chewing with no ill effects honestly. Perhaps a beef mixture used in order to keep costs down. The beef parts that chewed more like tradition beef was ok while the non chew beef was just filler and bland. After eating the meal ( lot of rice and onions left for sure) you are left feeling just sort of partially gratified. This beats some places where you are grossed out and feel sick afterwards but not the sort of unzip your pants (because you're about to pop ..belly that is...keep it clean )and pass out on the bed sort of gratified that you might have hoped for. I will say that for the same item it's about 50% more at dinner as opposed to the likes of Meso Asia or Kitchen Master in Frisco so if you want to feel sort of gratified and not have your wallet emptied this isn't a bad option but if you want a fully gratifying Mongolian beef experience I would say pay up and go elsewhere.
