"Upscale farm-to-table dining meets a casual atmosphere at Chives in Baileys Harbor. Chef and owner JR Schoenfeld, who also operates another location just north of Green Bay, has garnered a reputation for putting out beautiful plates laden with local vegetables and flowers. Save room for the robust dessert selection from pastry chef Janelle Jensen, a graduate of Chicago’s French Pastry School." - Naomi Waxman

This was an entire experience from start to finish. First off, the plating and presentation was impeccable. The food looks just like the photos advertised on the website which was incredible. Our server was absolutely outstanding. She was kind, courteous, and went above and beyond. They had the best French onion soup we've ever had. Every bite of food was eaten. We loved everything! It also has a beautiful view of the lake.

We are in the area hopelessly off season and wanted something local for dinner. The area, for the most part, rolls its streets up around 5pm, and it was 7pm on a Monday. We did a quick search for restaurants near us and were lucky to see chives come up. We had the lamb shoulder and Chives Duck Frites. The food, service, and atmosphere were top-notch. We decided to take dessert to go . We were already pretty amazed with our experience. When we ate the Cherry Almond Bounce Cake and a seasonal fruit tart with apricot pistachio and blackberries, we were more than blown away. I will have dreams about the cake for years to come. Definitely worth a stop if ever in the area!

Nothing here was worth what we paid… I was expecting some correlation between the incredibly good reviews and the quality of the food and overall experience to walk out of here thinking: never again. The food lacks flavor, quality, and creativity. The service was slow and unfriendly. And the place was not very well taken care of. Too bad the picture of their restroom doesn’t really reflect the sadness and lack of attention that I experienced. Dirty, tiny sink where you can hardly wash your hands - imagine the kitchen staff in a hurry mode, just not very well taken care of. It felt like a gas station toilet as opposed to the upper scale restaurant they want to be. At least when it comes to prices. Seriously, deep fried food for the price of fresh food? No way. Flavorless and late. It took them 28 minutes to deliver an appetizer and a main deep fried fish and chips that tasted like paper. Paid, got out of there and didn’t really get anything from the staff. Slow in service, grumpy and unpleasant to deal with. Never again and terrible experience.

The Black Cod special was outstanding! Perfectly cooked and delicious flavor. The shiitake mushroom soup was a must order. The cherry bounce cake was very tasty. We also ordered the crème brûlée which after tasting it turned out to be coffee crème brûlée but I thought was fantastic. Waitress was kind and attentive. Atmosphere was classy. We would recommend. I added photos of all desserts they had.

It’s a really cute restaurant to have a meal if you are in the area. Home made bread with whipped butter with chives was great. We ordered mussels for an appetizer and it was also really well done. We were not impressed with the chicken marsala and the duck - they both lacked in flavor. I’d also recommend to change your wine list - wines did not have names and regions which is a must for a fine dining place. My pino noir was very average unfortunately.

Sensational! Our family has been coming to door county for many years and this is one of our favorite restaurants. We come up to the door peninsula on average 3 to 4 times in a year and we always have to stop in for their delicious cuisine. The staff here is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. If you have any special dietary restrictions or just have any questions, simply ask everyone is more than happy to help. They have a wide variety of goodies on their menu please everyone in the family. Thank you all for your great dining experience and hospitality. Looking forward to seeing you soon.❤️‍🔥

I went to Chive for my birthday dinner. Multiple people had recommended Chive, and I'm happy we went. I highly recommend making a reservation. I loved the atmosphere and the little library room. Unfortunately, they were out of the dessert that I wanted. The Sea Salt Caramel Dome. We actually ordered our dessert before ordering our meals because they were running low on the one we wanted. I ordered the French Battered Whitefish, and my friend had the Mussels and fries. Everything was amazing! We had a newer dessert that looked like a green apple. It was unbelievable.

For having reservations three days ahead, we were disappointed in our dining experience. It was a cool evening and we were only offered outdoor seating. Our appetizer was good, but drinks and the rest of the meal took a very long time to receive. By this point, plenty of inside tables were available, but an offer to move inside never came. Our meal came about 1 hour and 20 min after ordering. We had an 8:00 reservation and arrived at 7:45. Didn’t stick around to try the dessert. No thanks.

Yelp
We LOVED Chives! It was my first time there, and I celebrated my 35th birthday here. We started with some cocktails - The ol fashioned, sazerac, and vodka cherry cocktail. It was super delicious and delicately balanced. We got escargot and oysters for appetizers, and those were super delicious. The bread service with the herb butter was chef's kisses. Our entrees were very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ribeye was juicy, the risotto was melt in your mouth, and I stole one too many shrimps from my partner The dessert menu is irresistible - my cherry bounce cake was everything that dreams are made of. Absolutely amazing service and very elegant ambiance. Thank you, Chives, for a special night!

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Dine in at Chives - service is amazing, food is great. Worth a visit. Food trucks at Chives - food is also great and it's a fun venue. Can't miss here either.

Yelp
My wife and I were looking to end our week long vacation in Door County with a good meal here. Unfortunately, this was the worst place we visited all week. The only thing I would come back for is the French onion soup, but I'm not going to a restaurant for just soup and tap water. We sat outside because it was a beautiful evening. The waitress claimed everything outside was cleaned everyday. Our table was covered in dust, and the worst part was the number of spiders crawling around us. I ordered a Negroni but was asked if I wanted their special, which was a boulevardier for some reason? Do they not know these are different (although similar) drinks? The Negroni was terrible. I only drank it to numb my senses. Steak and frites seem to be the showcase here, so that's what I tried. I went with a ribeye, medium, and opted for mashed potatoes instead of fries. The steak arrived well done with absolutely no pink in the middle, and nothing was seasoned. The cut of meat was thin and looked like they got it from the local Piggly Wiggly. My wife ordered the whitefish, which had some sort of breading, and she said it just tasted eggy. I tried to get the waitresses attention, but she didn't come to check on how things were going. Probably because she knew how bad it was by looking at it. While waiting for her to return, a spider fell from the ceiling into my food and crawled around a bit. After that, two more spiders crawled right past my wife. Is this the dining experience they wanted us to have? Clean your patio. It's not even this filthy in France. All we got was a "I'm sorry". They still got $100 out of us. Hope they enjoy it. We will not be back and I will never recommend this place to anyone. Up your game and be better.

Aidan C.

Yelp
First off, the server had an amazing name! Great to see another Aidan in this crazy world we live in. Food was great, mimosas even better. I have absolutely no idea what the other recent review is talking about.

Yelp
This is the best place for dinner in Door County - all around a really excellent meal. The server we had was super friendly and answered all of the question that our party had about food and drinks and went to check a few things with the bartender even. I had the French onion soup, which was divine, and the table shared chicken and goat cheese wontons which were crispy and rich. I ended up having the duck which was a big portion and absolutely delicious. It was done perfectly and the sauce was an excellent complement. I had a slice of paradise cake to go, and it was also just so good - really nice flavors but also very light so it wasn't overwhelming after a big meal. I included a picture of the tin Celine because I just liked it so much - the inside has quite a vibe but overall it's a cozy place for a nice meal

Paige C.

Yelp
French onion soup was the bomb, dessert equally outstanding. Cozy little place with great service.

Mag L.

Yelp
We visited for their $20 Bun n Brew deal, and we were very pleased with everything. The appetizers were delicious, as were the burgers and the roast beef sandwich. Great deal too. Loved the fries that came with the meals too. Would return!

Yelp
Highlights 1. Friendly Service 2. Good Food 3. Fun Ambiance Came here with a group of 4 recently and sat outside on the heated patio. This place has serious charm! The inside is warm and cozy and I even spotted a semi-private dining space that looked like it was on the inside of a library. We loved dining on the outside patio and stayed plenty warm even though it was in the 60s. Our server was amazing! He had great recommendations and was super funny and nice. He recommended a great bottle of wine for our table and promptly got our orders in. Sadly, we had overindulged on snacks before coming so we just did some soups, an appetizer and dessert. Food was good! I don't think soup is necessarily their star so I would like to come back and try some entrees. The dessert was a caramel chocolate ball and was delicious as well really pretty (sounds weird but check the pic!) Will 10/10 be back!

Yelp
The ambience at Chives was lovely! Very old country French vibes We had the opportunity to sit outside on a nice chilly afternoon, while the heaters were on. Our server, John, was very attentive and extremely friendly. The French onion soup was one of the favorite things that I had. The consistency of the soup was perfect and it was nice and rich without it being too overwhelming. I also tried the crabcakes and the fries, and they were equally as tasty. Chives is definitely a location worth trying. If you're ever visiting Door County. I will definitely be returning on my next trip there!

Yelp
Had a fun visit to Chives. Passing thru town on a Thursday evening about 5 pm after having a busy day. Decided we would stop to have a little something before heading north to our destination. The staff was pumped up. We told them our intent and the response was, "No problem!" We sat on the corner of the bar close to the Library. Soup and salad sounded good, so wifey had chicken soup and I had the French onion. We decided to split the salad special which was epic, pear Gorgonzola medley tossed in a light vinaigrette and dressed with pickled onions and selected greens. Two opinions on the soup choices. Wifey though her soup was light on chicken. Had a hard time finding any. I, in turn, loved the French onion soup. It came super hot to the table loaded with large croutons and a large portion of Swiss/Munster cheese melted perfectly. The cheese was a meal in itself. Soup flavor was perfect, not too heavy on the onions, and very rich in flavor. We were also served warm homemade bread with great crust and a very herbaceous butter flavored with garlic, chives and rock salt. Very nice touch. The staff were great. The barmaid greeted us warmly and took our order. A couple of waiters were stationed close to our seats. We engaged in friendly conversation to whole meal. It was a really pleasant experience. We recently learned from others that the place has a good reputation, great food and friendly staff. We will return for dinner the next time we are in the area. We also heard it's best to have a reservation. They draw a crowd.

Yelp
Great brunch and wonderful service. I loved the brunch board and mussels. The building and atmosphere is cozy. I enjoyed my visit and will be back!

Yelp
Everything was great, esp. the fresh whitefish! Superbly prepared! Server was friendly, efficient, but not too much!

Genevieve K.

Yelp
We had a great experience at Chives! It was really busy at 7:30 on a Thursday, so we did have to wait in line for a little even though we had a reservation (but we did get there a couple minutes early). We were sat right away and all ordered different cocktails, which were full of all different flavors and well made. For appetizers we ordered the goat cheese and chicken wontons which were incredible! An order comes with five, so we got two orders so we could each have two since they're more bite sized. We also ordered the fries which were really tasty, but they do come with a lot of meals, so I'd recommend holding off on them as an app since we ended up have leftovers as sides. Lastly, we had complimentary bread and butter and the butter was the best butter I've ever had! It had chives and I think a hint of garlic, as well. For main courses we had some burgers and I had the beef cheeks, which were super good! The portion sizes were pretty good but not overwhelming. We also tried the chocolate mousse and eclair, and both were great. We did float it out that we were celebrating a birthday once or twice but I don't think our server heard, or there's a chance they don't do anything for birthdays. Overall yet had a great experience and I'd definitely be back (maybe to try brunch!).

Jim K.

Yelp
Another great visit to Chives, had the fillet with fries, white fish (terrific) drinks and triple chocolate mouse. The server was great, the meals perfect, crowded but very comfortable, noise level very low.

Laura S.

Yelp
Did someone say desserts? Chives has added a pastry chef and not to disappoint!!!! Still one of my favorite places to eat in Door County. In the pricy side, but if you want to treat yourself, this is a place to go. Best bread and butter in town!

Agnes S.

Yelp
Honestly, this place is overhyped. We always come to Sister Bay with our dog, and Chives has a no-pet policy (even on the patio), so we waited a long time to try it. We did finally leave our dog behind and got a chance to dine in at Chives, and we were very excited to try it. My husband ordered the duck and I ordered the beef cheek. Both were underwhelming (the beef cheek was salty and unbalanced, the noodles dry; the duck was bland in general). Fries were fantastic, though - I'd come back for these. Drinks were strong and the wine selection was lacking, so not for us. The waitstaff is typical to the area - friendly but new to the business. There were a couple of old hands that I think would have provided a better experience overall, but service isn't why you come here, either. To be honest, I'm not sure why it's so hard to get a reservation here. Overall it was fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

Christina H.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this restaurant! I enjoyed the seasonal soup which was a turnip base which I paired with a white wine. I chose the beef cheeks for my main course and the spaetzli was cooked to perfection! I enjoyed a wonderful red wine blend and saved room for an amazing dessert!! Highly recommend and I had the best service by John who shared that he recently celebrated 40 years in the service industry!!!!

Claire L.

Yelp
We just had a celebratory dinner here this evening! Everything was amazing from service to spot to recommendations! Carlton was our server tonight and he did a fantastic job! AMBIANCE - laidback vibe with a modern flare plus a killer lake view! Loved the beautiful flower boxes decorating the front of the restaurant. They have a lovely garden box growing kale. You walk into a great bar right away! FOOD - A+. Fine dining at its best without the pretentiousness. Everyone is so relaxed and genuinely friendly. Our server Carlton gave us the best food recommendations! Yes, please order the mussels cooked this divine garlic butter sauce and fries dusted in Parmesan cheese! He people tend to drink the sauce. Every bit of the entree was delicious! I had the smoked salmon with potato pancakes. There was a generous amount of salmon on my plate but the pancake tasted too greasy. It tasted overly fried. Nevertheless a very tasty dish! We paired our food with a California Cab and Chardonnay! And the chocolate dome cake was so decadent and rich, probably enough for 4 people! SERVICE- Carlton was a total pro and he took very good care of us! A very delightful experience! Highly recommend this gem in Bailey's Harbor if you're looking for a laidback fine dining experience with a beautiful lake view!

Yelp
Went here for brunch on this outing. Two of the menus don't go into affect until 11am so if you arrive before that, you're options are on the center column of the menu. It's cute and a little pricey (not unusual for Door County) and the food is excellent. The charcuterie board is fully of local goodness with a magnificent jam that had so many ingredients in it, I literally cannot remember. And the scone was to die for. I had the Croque Madame and it was so good. The potatoes are to die for. I have no idea what they fry them in, but it's beyond typical breakfast potatoes.

Tara N.

Yelp
This is for Chives Food Trucks -- not their indoor dining establishment. A group of us ate here last night. It was crowded, as expected, but the line moved quickly. Finding a spot to sit can be a bit tricky. They need just a few more tables. We enjoyed the music and ambiance. We ordered two fish sandwiches, poutine, and a cheese pizza. I'm not a fan of most fish, but the sandwich was terrific. It's two generous pieces of fish so the sandwich is filling. The cheese pizza had an herb sauce (pesto?) so no red sauce. This was also very good! We all split an order of poutine. I highly recommend NOT ordering these. The appetizer is described as "a bed of fries topped with pit beef, fresh cheese curds and horseradish sauce". The fries were on the bottom, topped by the cheese curds, which was topped with what looked and tasted like Parmesan cheese from a shaker can. Then on top was the "pit beef." This meat was chunks of overcooked and dry beef cubes. As frequent meat smokers and grilled, this was disappointing. We also noted that there was no horseradish sauce. We inquired to the cook, "is this supposed to have gravy?" To which he replied, "No, it doesn't come with a gravy." After looking at the menu again we said, "The description says it has a sauce." He said, "You asked if it had a gravy. A sauce is not a gravy." Then we asked if we could please have the "sauce" as it had not come with our item. He rolled his eyes and gave us a cup of a curdled horseradish something. We took a few bites hoping the "sauce" would make it better, but it didn't. With one bottle of root beer, one pizza, two fish sandwiches, and an order of poutine, our bill was about $70. No cocktails ordered and three of us drank water. An hour later, two of us (the two who ate the fish and poutine) were in two separate bathrooms for a few hours. If anyone else got sick after eating at Chives Food Trucks on 7/15/23, please let me know. A side note, the guy calling out the names on the megaphone and the young lady who took our order were really welcoming and kind!

Tanya K.

Yelp
Very solid dining experience. We had a group of 6 and make reservations for Friday night. We were promptly seated and drink order taken. We ordered appetizers and got those but the waiter who was busy didn't come take our order until after our apps and first round of drinks were almost gone. They did accidentally give us the wonton app along with the oysters and cheese board. All were really good! As for entrees, everyone had something different. I tried the shrimp and they were very good. Not spicy but just enough of a seasoning to keep it interesting. The bread basket with the chive butter was amazing!

Carley W.

Yelp
I'm specifically reviewing the dinner food trucks. We stopped in on July 4 after a day at the beach, and Chives did not disappoint. The kids got the burgers, husband got the pit beef, and I got the shrimp fry. We split the 50/50 curds and fries. Executed to perfection. The truffle aioli and I think a siracha aioli - heaven. Shrimp were succulent, everything seasoned wonderfully, and it just capped off a great beach day in Door Co. Tons of lawn games for kids, and someone even offered to show my two year old son the inside of one of the trucks bc he thought the old trucks were "so cool!" Made his day. Ambiance is beautiful, staff is pleasant and helpful, I am currently staving off a craving for this same meal so badly. Like I would drive to Door co just to eat this meal again. Thank you so much, Chives! We love you!

Alex L.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Door County! The entire staff is extremely friendly, accepting and welcoming. The bartender Madi was a delight! And the food is absolutely amazing!

Ashley J.

Yelp
Legit the most pretentious and racist joint in DC. If you're multiracial or BIPOC or have young children - do NOT come here. We even stopped in after dining in at Lure to ask if it was feasible to have a night cap, and we were assured no problem. Not only were we treated with zero respect, but we were rushed out. Never again. When we return the week of Juneteenth, we will frequent other businesses - please remove your Avec book from your shelves - they would be appalled at how overtly racist you are. Shame on you. Thankfully our toddlers are too young to see your racism. However, my 42 year old Black husband, not so much. Beyond insulting and sad. Shame. On you. Unless you're fine with admitting you cater to an all white clientele.

Courtney M.

Yelp
I love this spot. Great views and service. The drinks and food are so good. Will be back for sure. The soup is so good and the salmon. Can't go wrong with this place

Amy Y.

Yelp
Nice location, beautiful decor. Waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. We went on New Year's Day for brunch and it was one of the best meals we'd had in Door Co. Their parsnip soup (soup du jour) and French omelet were superb. Looking forward to returning for dinner!

Adam C.

Yelp
The food was fantastic (food truck section, not main restaurant). I got the fried chicken sandwich and it was extremely clear that it was given to me 2 minutes after the chicken was out of the fryer, which I appreciated. Also a good place to grab a specialty cocktail and sit outside to enjoy. Only constructive feedback would be the cooks. Working in the service industry myself, I know that chefs/cooks are supposed to have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder but they gave my group a hard time when an extra side sauce was ordered and it wasn't given to them in the initial order. I would absolutely come back here again when I'm in town!

Jonathan D.

Yelp
AMAZING! Door county has no shortage of good food but this place must be towards the top of your list! Great service, and the food is some of the best you will find! Do yourself a favor and eat here!!!

Sarah S.

Yelp
I give this place kudos for being the only breakfast place open in Baileys Harbor during the off season. Our food was delicious however kind of pricey for what it was. Our server, Carlton, was very friendly and provided good service.

Emily K.

Yelp
Refreshing salad on the patio with really good tuna. It was packed full of different textures and lightly dressed. I was so pleasantly surprised. Had a really good mix drink and a delicious rich cookie for dessert as well. I liked that it was less fancy than the restaurant in Suamico. We enjoyed our meal and will come back.

Kelly W.

Yelp
Amazing food, great views and atmosphere! The crab cake eggs Benedict is the best and I have it every time I'm here. Just wonderful overall!

Rebecca D.

Yelp
The outdoor food trucks are awesome, it would be great if they had high chairs outside at them for the littles! Thanks!

En-Tseh W.

Yelp
made reservations for 8pm. was seated at 8pm was served our soup of the day at 8:10ish? was served our two mains at 9:02pm. pathetic.

Sean B.

Yelp
Fun outdoor vaca venue with shade & picnic tables. Solid craft cocktails made your way with sweet or sour. Kiddos & adults loved the truffle fries. Great portable bathrooms! Go with the food recommendations from the bartender; that Pit sandwich was almost a Dinner Club meal in itself! They have porcelain toilets flush and sinks running water... definitely a relief after kayaking state parks. Really they should get 4.5-stars for providing those.

Anita O.

Yelp
For the price, you would expect better for fine dining. My sister couldn't even chew her beef cheeks and spit most of them out. I got crab cakes and left hungry. Three Oreo cookie sized crab cakes. The front entrance was covered in spiders and sipder webs (beyond disgusting) a daily hosing would go a long way. That included the railing up the steep stairs, light fixtures and the sink full of dead bugs. Been to Bailey's Harbor twice had bad restaurant experiences both times. We will stick to Fish Creek or Egg Harbor, they have not disappointed.

Timothy L.

Yelp
Poor Service - Poor Seating Four of us had a TERRIBLE experience. Megan, the hostess, placed us outside at a table laced with flies. There was an empty table inside that we asked we could sit but she said it was spoken for. Odd that a patron could reserve a table and we could not. I tried to request an indoor table 30 minutes later when there were 5 empty tables and again, Megan dictated that we stay outside. Megan suggested that we could get the table we wanted if we waited for 2 hours. Pathetic. John our server had no personality and was not attentive. It took over 25 minutes to get our food order when two tables around us sat after us and got their food before us. I ordered a particular red wine and John came back to the table to state the restaurant ran out of the wine and did not suggest an alternate. After he served our entrees, he only visited the table to drop off our checks. One in our party is a host at Harbor Fish Market who was underwhelmed at John's poor server skills and Megan's lack of any customer service to accommodate unhappy customers. We've eaten at Chives many times before. This was the WORST experience we've had at this restaurant or any restaurant in our years of coming to Door County to dine.

Julia K.

Yelp
We started with salads and both were delicious. The cheese plate was also good. Our fun drink made by the bartender was tasty. I wish I had ordered the salmon special. I did not know there was a white fish special either or that likely I would have ordered. Pretty pricey. Had a great view facing the lake which was nice. The crab cake was my favorite. 3.5 stars.

Bethany S.

Yelp
We came to Chive for to celebrate our friend. There were 14 of us with a 4:15 dinner reservation in the off season. We finished with a wine tasting a bit early so we stopped by the restaurant in case they were able to seat us early but with no expectation. The hostess was incredibly rude when we checked in and seemed almost off put that we actually showed up for our reservation. She seemed to begrudgingly seat us but split up our reservation into two completely separate portions of the restaurant. Half of us sat in one room off to the side and the others sat in front of the bar. It was very confusing because there was a whole row of tables across from us that were open nearly the entirety of our evening, there was no reason we should have been split up and no explanation as to why. I can't speak to the service at the other table but our waiter was very friendly. The food itself was delicious, the butter with the bread when you sat down was incredible. I got the couscous, a delicious seasonal dish. Others said their dishes were really tasty too. We grabbed a couple desserts, including something about a chocolate caramel dome that was heavenly and great to split to enjoy a few bites. The environment was really cool with a fun library off the kitchen that would make for a really cool date night. The dining portion was overall good however the experience with the hostess and reservation was so off putting that I would not recommend Chive and will not be back the next time we're in town.

Yelp
Great restaurant in Door County. Awesome view of Baileys Harbor, cool space and friendly staff. Outdoor and indoor dining available. Interesting menu options and great drinks. Prices are reasonable given the location and quality of food. In fact, some items are extremely reasonable. The Chicken Marsala was awesome. Unlike most versions of this dish, which is a cutlet, it's actually a 1/2 chicken with roasted veggies underneath. It was excellent. Will be back for sure!

Ann L.

Yelp
Time for a 2021 update! Please also see my previous review for more details. We visited here mid-September and were very glad we made reservations. This is not a huge place so they do fill quickly. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and our table was ready and waiting. We started with a cheese board which featured some delicious Wisconsin selections and accompaniments. I had the gulf shrimp for my entree which were cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. For dessert, I had the spiced pear tart which was excellent. Cocktails were great as always! Our server was friendly and knew the menu well. Things were a little slower than in pre-Covid days, but we didn't mind a leisurely vacation dinner, and we know everyone is short staffed everywhere. If you're trying to avoid super crowded places, I'd suggest a later reservation here like ours. We were the last seated at 7:30 and so things started thinning out as we enjoyed our dinner. They don't have a parking lot, but spots are always readily available on the street.

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
Not sure how a place that costs this much can't make a burger & fries with some flavor. I would have happily taken a McDonald's fry over these. Not only were the prices crazy, but our main courses were no where near worth it. On a positive note, the salmon, crab cake, and wonton app was delicious! The place has a nice ambiance with great views, service, & employees.

Lou L.

Yelp
I took my husband here for Father's day breakfast. Our food was superb. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. We will be returning.

Susanne F.

Yelp
Bistro style restaurant. Truly delicious food. Very charming atmosphere. Our server was one of the most professional we have every had. Friendly and knowledgeable. Overall a delightful meal. Highly recommend.

Chris S.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere and food , especially the mussels and frites Great drinks and service

Yelp
We came by this place a few times and finally stopped for a late night meal. Don't let the $$$ signs trip you up. It can get pricy with the apps and wine (well worth it) but the main dishes are very good and more unique than some of the other places in the area. (Had the Caesar Salad and raw Oysters, Whitefish and Scallop special) The desserts though.......I laughed with my husband that next time we should just go for a glass of wine and dessert. We had the fruit tart and the peach melba (I'm allergic to chocolate) and were in heaven. Better than any place in Chicago or France (ha ha, but maybe only because of the pace). In the end, it was waaaaay better than expected and we will be back!

Yelp
They bought the bakery that used to be next door and it's currently their bar area. There are two outdoor stands/food truck things for ordering and staying outside. Plus their main indoor building. It was a little confusing of how it all worked and where you were supposed to go. We wanted a pizza so we went up to the pizza booth. He took our order and told us to pay at the truck. Well turns out you order at the truck and a receipt gets printed in the pizza stand. Really confusing. Pizza was ok, crust was soggy. We also got cheese curds, it was just a little thing and was $8, plus it came in a little plastic Tupperware type container- not a fan of the short life that plastic lived and will now go on to be in the landfill. It was nice to have the outdoor setup however and the staff seemed to be on top of the cleaning. The outdoor had a nice feel to it. The indoor restaurant is too fancy and not what I'm looking for in door county.

Yelp
Chives was one of the highlights of my family Door County vacation! 2 out of 4 of us ordered the french onion soup and after everyone sampled, we all agreed it was the best french onion soup any of us had ever had. As I'm sure many know, you can tell how good a restaurant will be by its bread & butter. We could NOT GET ENOUGH. I had the caesar salad and it was excellent - an elevated take on a common dish. Entrees had by the rest in my party were excellent. We all shared desserts and they were delicious as well. Not sure when I'll be back in Door County but when I am, I'd love to have another meal at Chives.

Yelp
We've enjoyed Chives for many years. We have been regular visitors of beautiful Door County for 25 years. Having owned a vacation home here for quite some time, we feel at home here in this amazing part of the Midwest. Yes we have loved candlelight dinners at White Gull Inn and fish boils at Pelletier, what was once imaginative dining at Wickman House (now an epic disappointment), but Chives remains a reliable destination for delicious food and beautiful service. Quiet and comfortable. Always surprising and delicious menu options. Something for everyone!

Yelp
Chives in Baileys Harbor is quaint restaurant. It has the wonderful Door County cheeseburger for a simple meal up to high-end steaks and seafood. Specials daily. Deserts are wonderful. Servers are long-term servers are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I had the chicken Marsala and my husband had a very delicious ribeye. The plating of the food is done beautifully. Then we had the chocolate dome for dessert that was awesome. The interior of the restaurant is unique and just a very cool place.
