Housed in historic Vickery Village, Chives blends Midwest seasonality with bistro technique and a lively bar scene. Long embraced by locals—and even name-checked in Packers circles—it remains a metro essential for refined comfort dishes and polished hospitality.

Google
Try it seems to be a very nice restaurant certainly has a wonderful atmosphere that is for sure as you can see in some of the images here. I would like to say our service was spot on and everything is just really good. I just have to say the ultimate BLT that I got was a little subpar because of the bacon was old and crunchy and the bread was just way too thick. I'm sure it is exact as they wanted but it's just not the way that I would have done it. Definitely worth checking out they'll take good care of you.

Google
Had a great time here. We enjoyed almost all dishes here. I absolutely love the fried Brie, it was so light, and perfect with the blackberry sauce. I had the truffle baked cod, fish was cooked perfectly however we didn’t really taste the truffle, so it was a bit bland. The steak and gochujang potatoes were to die for! We also had creme brûlée and it’s one of the best I’ve had. We will be going back to try other dishes!

Google
Was lucky enough to get a reservation at Chives and it was so worth it. It has the appeal that it could be either casual or dressy. The bread had to be ordered as a side but the gran bread was so delicious. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and it was beyond spectacular. You got a lot of ravioli which I was impressed with and the sauce made me want to lick my plate. The Old Fashioned drink was perfectly made. It was on the pricey side but what isn’t these days. I would definitely go here again if I am in that part of the state. The only downside was that it was a bit loud/echo.

Google
Friendly staff, amazing food (salad was beautifully displayed), great drinks (suggestions on drink choice), and a beautiful atmosphere, we enjoyed our time there!

Google
Excellent food and service. Don't be in a hurry if you're in a larger group, as our lunch service took almost two hours total for a party of seven. Hard surfaces everywhere, so expect a fair amount of noise. Lunch prices are great! Dinner prices are definitely on the higher side for Wisconsin. Bottom line: great place to eat for lunch as long as you don't mind a louder dining experience and have the time.

Google
Stopped by with a group for lunch and had the best time. Katie, Brooke, Jenna and all those I haven’t mentioned made this a fantastic Saturday. Try all specialty cocktails. Enjoy the lighthearted group. We had the pleasure to meet them all.

Google
Nice, casual place. Friendly staff. Burger with carmelized onions, blue cheese, bacon on the smaller side, but tasty. Matchstick fries are good. Grilled cheese is good, salad as a side was large and has a delicious dressing. The calamari is yummy! The French onion soup is very good. I will return!

Google
Highly recommend!! My boyfriend planned our anniversary dinner here and I'm so glad he did! Truly the best food we've ever had! Definitely get the trio for the appetizer. Which includes the crab cake, almond crusted brie, and the chicken and goat cheese wontons! First time ever trying crab, a crab cake at that, and I'm now obsessed with them! We fell in love with every bite! We cannot wait for our next date night here❤️

Yelp
Extraordinary food served in a relaxing setting. We decided to check this restaurant out on a friend's recommendation.

Gary S.

Yelp
Ambience and service were good. Except that we were seated in the front and there was a long ledge right next to us that had a thick layer of dust. How could the staff not notice? I also noticed a layer of dust on the table in the restroom. Some of the menu prices have markedly increased. The red snapper was hot and delicious, but was on a bed of lukewarm puree and lentils. I've had better meals here in the past.

Yelp
This was an our first time trying Chive's and I'm glad we gave it a go! It's located in the small, quaint historic district of Suamico. The building is charming and surrounded by other small businesses and restaurants/breweries. A perfect spot for a summer date night. We were seated promptly upon arrival. The drinks were delish, especially the banana bread old fashioned. The chicken and goat cheese wonton starters were exceptional. We each got a chicken entreé. The airline chicken was served with frites and an aoli dip. The sauce from the chicken coated the frites and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken Marsala was also delectable. We can't wait to go back to this charming establishment.

Yelp
Brooke took very good care of us. She was very knowledgeable in all aspects of our dining and drinking experiences! The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth.

Yelp
Made a reservation for 630, moderately busy. Ordered oysters which were both on menu and on features board. Told were out. Ordered ribeye MR steak frites. Waited 45 minutes for food. My ribeye was medium and extremely over-salted for $56. The location in Baileys Harbor is much better and upscale. There were employees and patrons at this location in shorts and sandals. They are fully dressed and in aprons etc in Door County but charging the same prices in Green Bay. No bueno, needs a step up.

Mary J.

Yelp
The lady answering the phone was very Rude!!! I was inquiring about wheelchair access; she was short, curt, angry and rude. We ended up not eating there, for a large party!

Yelp
Being new to Green Bay we have a lot of restaurants to try out so I've been delayed to trying this one because it is a little bit out of town in Suamico (about 10 min from Titletown where we reside). First impressions -live the warmth of the place. It's located on a cute picturesque street and has ample parking. Upon walking in there is a small bar and the palace is cozy and intimate with dark woods giving it a romantic flare. I would suggest a reservation which we had and we were seated quickly at a small table by a window for ambiance. We were presented with a pretty decent wine list and a daily special menu that had some wonderful options for dinner. The only thing that is keeping me from a five star is there really weren't very many vegetarian options other than salad and French onion soup. However, they did have the butternut squash ravioli and it was definitely freshly made and packed with flavor. My hubby had the fish and chips which arrived steaming hot and perfectly cooked. He finished with amazingly fresh gooey chocolate chip cookies served with Belgian chocolate....I stole a bite and they were delicious. I can definitely see this becoming a favorite of ours and I'm hoping that maybe I will see more vegetarian options. I highly recommend as it is obvious a lot of thought goes into the menu and the food is delicious.

Yelp
Looking for a nice dinner or date night spot? Look no further. The drinks. They have a nice cocktail menu - with several cocktails and wines to choose from. They have pretty good cocktails, too. The food. I'm STILL day dreaming about their French onion soup. Holy cow, it is the best French onion soup I have ever had in my entire life. I don't even know how to describe it - so much flavor! If French onion soup is your thing, you MUST try it here. All of their other menu items are outstanding. It's a nicer restaurant, so expect a culinary experience here. The space. It's quant. I love it. It's in the old general store (I think); so there isn't a ton of seating. But it's so cozy and cute in here. Service was outstanding, as I would expect! Make a reservation - you won't regret it!

Yelp
went there last night. had a rib eye steak, went with a friend that likes the place, my third time and last time. Small portions big prices for very average plates that look pretty but are average at best. wife had the chicken. a couple drinks . bar tender was rude waiter was ok. $165 bucks. explosive diarrhea at 3 am.

Andrea N.

Yelp
Good was PHENOMENAL ! Great bourbons, beautiful presentation, calamari was fabulous and we all had amazing beef. If you are concerned about where your beef is from and how it is fed and raised Chives is the place for concerned carnivores . Make sure to have the amazing HoHo cake https://aspenridgebeef.com/our-story/

Yelp
In Depth Breakdown of my time at Chives: Yeah this place f%*]ing rocks. Never had a bad time at this place.

Will G.

Yelp
Great ambience and amazing food the Coq au Vin was perfect! Service with a smile. And great wine selection.
google avatar

Anna P.

Yelp
Update: my review has changed because of the recent updates at Chives. I am extremely disappointed that they have removed both my favorite dishes from the menu, the portions are now half the size, and the prices have increased tremendously. Additionally, the complimentary bread now costs $6. If it's not broke, don't fix it! I won't be returning sadly.
google avatar

Keith H.

Yelp
Outstanding food! Great atmosphere. HIGHLY recommended. I didn't think a grilled cheese could be that good.

Nina S.

Yelp
Husband's daughter turned us on to this place. Absolutely amazing flavors, great atmosphere and incredible service. This time (it's now an out of town favorite) we ordered desert but we were so full we had to take it home with us...mistake because it was so delicious I wished to have another piece of that carrot cake!

Carol A.

Yelp
What a great place, small, intimate, a little noisy, and perfect for a dinner with friends. Jenna was our waitress and took great care of us. My husband and I had the crab cakes appetizer, striped bass entree and creme brûlée for dessert...heavenly! Loved the ambiance, so cozy, charming and unique. Definitely going to come back!

Emma A.

Yelp
The ambience was nice. The drinks were pretty good, the service was fast and the drinks didn't take long to make. That's where it ends, the dissatisfaction in my tastebuds as I ate the cesear salad was unethical. I wouldn't feed this to my gerbil. The salmon was 44$ for a literal slice of its ass, the other 22$ must have been the 6 potatoes and a whole ass onion for no reason at all and a plate full of sauce for a fucking food that's naturally wet. The person who came up with this combo should take a deep long look in the mirror and tack this plate down to 15$ as it should be. Texas Roadhouse is cheaper and has better food. For no reason what so ever should any of this food be priced the way it is. There is no redeeming quality to mark this food up. A creative 10yr old in culinary class with minimal spices could have made a better salad than they did. They must have literally cooked the chicken with nothing and put it directly to the plate because there was 0 flavor what's so ever. MIND YOU IT WAS 20 DOLLARS FOR THS PLATE. Bring the kind human being I am I did leave a tip but to my surprise they left me a little piece of paper that said leave a review......... but to my surprise they left me no pen!!!!! COWARDS!!!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I love the old historic building. They keep a lot of the older items found in the area on display. The food menu has some staples that we love (Steak Frites and Oysters) but is always changing out various items as the seasons come and go.
google avatar

Cassandra S.

Yelp
On top of the absolutely mouth watering food and excellent service all around, the drinks here are amazing. They had just rolled out their new spring specialty cocktails. I really appreciate their ability to come up with fun tequila drinks. I had the Strawberry Blond and Snoop Dog last night. I know most are all about Tinis but Tequila is so tasty.

Julia H.

Yelp
Waiter was extremely helpful and perceptive. My boyfriend stepped out to take a call and he asked if I wanted to put his soup under the warmer until he came back! The extra thought! Food was delicious.
google avatar

Anthony O.

Yelp
Stopped in after seeing some of the amazing reviews and it was all true...we had the mussels and the portion was huge and tasty! The French onion soup was out of this world but the star of the show was the BEEF CHEEKS! You have to get the beef cheeks. Even if you've never had beef cheeks they were better than any steak we've had in Wisconsin (and we have tried a lot of different steaks)

Paula B.

Yelp
Amazing service and excellent food. Chef and waitresses were great! Highly recommend

Bonnie C.

Yelp
We were a little nervous thinking wasn't going to be good as menu was not big to choose. Just the fries alone thin were the best. The chive oil? If that is what is used is fantastic and I'm not big fan of fries. Very good food and service
google avatar

Sophia P.

Yelp
My expectations were very high. My mom got the Lemon chicken and it was SO good. I got the baked truffle cod, and it was okay. I couldn't taste any truffle but the red potatoes and broccolini was delicious!!! The calamari was disappointing honestly, it had no flavor and when we dipped it in the sauce it was just mid. If the calamari breading was seasoned and their dip was spicy it would have been 10x better. oh and the s'mores crème brûlée was AMAZING. the cookie thing was mid but the marshmallow topping and chocolate was soooo yummy. i will probs dream about it
google avatar

Corrine T.

Yelp
All around a great place to eat. Food, drinks and ambience are excellent. The wait staff was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Brenda V.

Yelp
I really wanted to write a good review but was very disappointed on our time at Chives. The food looked good but had no flavor at all. Won't be back
google avatar

Brent B.

Yelp
Wife and I went in for dinner and I had the bevette special and it was one of the best steaks I ever had. My smoked Old Fashion was on point, far better than my wife's bacon old fashioned.
google avatar

Barbara S.

Yelp
First timers, the staff was very friendly and food was delish. I had couple of old fashions they were delish. Steak portions are generous. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Janelle Z.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I had very high expectations for this place. Over the past year(ish) I've heard nothing but good thing about this place. I was disappointed. The oysters were the best part of the meal. We also had crab cakes- wasn't a fan of the flavor or the sauce they were service with. We each had beef entrees. The meat cuts were not good, flavor was good! His cut was undercooked and mine was over cooked. The mashed potatoes on my plate were fake- from a box, and I cold tell. Veggies on both of our plates were very undercooked. Creme brûlée dessert was good.
google avatar

Yelp
We had an excellent meal with wine for my birthday. The food and service were wonderful. I called for reservations later in the 'em week than I should have, and we were seated in their back room. The main restaurant would have been better. The only other issue was the wine. We paid $125 for a wine we know retails for $45. The mark up was expected, but the wine was warm; not room temperature, but stored in a warm place. When I mentioned it, it was explained that only the high end wines are kept in a cellar and we needed to ask that the bottle be chilled a bit.
google avatar

AJ S.

Yelp
We frequently visit for both lunch and dinner and it's always consistently wonderful. We have been to all of the top places in the area and Chives is the only one that makes a perfect filet every single time - both flavor and temperature are always spot on (something that even Republic Chophouse can't do). The goat cheese wontons are our favorite app. Always make a reservation for dinner or you'll likely be waiting a long time because it's always busy, a testament to how good it is. The chef's table is an amazing experience for a special occasion (or just because!).
google avatar

Rich B.

Yelp
Outstanding place. Very impressed with the food, the service and of course the bar. it was a great start to our football game weekend
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Went here for a casual date night while visiting our hometown and it was such a cute little spot hidden in Suamico. The parking was ample, the vibe was slightly dressy-casual, the service was attentive and professional, and the food and drinks were spectacular. The seating is relatively tight with wooden chairs and a few half-booths but it was perfect for the two of us. We each had two cocktails, one appetizer trio, our own Grilled Angus Beef Fillet entrees, and our own desserts and spent under $200 for a fantastic up-scale night together. The Chicken & Goat Cheese Wontons were so creative and I found myself craving them days later. The Crab Cakes were soft and moist with a delicious sauce. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the port wine reduction set the flavor over the top. I subbed my veggies for roasted parsnips and I would definitely do that again if they're available. The desserts were the perfect size after having a large entree and the flavors were rich and bold. The fresh berries with the Ho Ho Cake were the perfect addition to cut the sweetness, and the cake itself was so light and fluffy. They had a fantastic selection of scotches and wines, and we loved the handcrafted cocktails. Would highly recommend checking out Chives for an anniversary, birthday, or just a nice night out with friends or your significant other.
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
Chives has been my favorite restaurant for many years. The staff is incredible, the food is outstanding and they are quite accommodating for kids, too! Last night we brought my parents to celebrate my moms birthday, their first visit to Chives. We shared melt in your mouth crab cakes, fresh baked bread and chive butter, the organic greens salad with Chive buttermilk dressing, and the Chives Hoho and Fresh Baked chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Our main dishes were all phenomenal. The cocktails are amazing. I'd recommend Chives to anyone.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Inconsistent service. We made reservations for a special occasion. We waited about 20 minutes to place our order, which wasn't terrible, but in a place like this, I tend to raise my level of expectation. Our food took an hour and 15 minutes to arrive. The food itself was very good but mine was cold. At 52 dollars for a steak, I can go to Texas Roadhouse about 3 times, and it will be hot every time. The final straw was that the waitress could tell it didn't go well, so she didn't ask us how everything was. I wasn't surprised at that point. Our experience previous to this one was 5 stars, but I'm not going to a place that costs 225 bucks for 3 people and to receive inconsistent service. Needless to say, our special occasion wasn't feeling very special by the time we left.
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in the Green Bay area. High end and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend the crabcakes, cod, and fries. Save room for dessert at the Suamico Creamery next-door.

Michael F.

Yelp
Food excellent Quaint setting Outstanding service Great wine selection Chefs table recommended
google avatar

Eric J.

Yelp
The food is incredible and the drinks are amazing and fresh. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the resteraunt has a old fashion feel because it's an old grocery store.
google avatar

Carol O.

Yelp
Walking in for the first time looking for the host stand and come to find out it's at the end of the bar was a bit awkward. There's not much room in the bar/front door area. Ambiance is warming and not pretentious. Service was good & our server was very knowledgeable on the menu. Food was fine. Ordered apps, buffalo shrimp are fried and still have the tail on them - watch out for that. Calamari was ok. All rings and no tentacles which was nice. Two different steaks at the table, both undercooked but we were too hungry to send them back & wait. Truffle Cod was good. Wine list is great but I wish at least one of the higher end wines were available by glass and not only bottle.
google avatar

Rob K.

Yelp
We sat outside and had dinner after a day golfing. The appetizers are an absolute hit. You should eat where Olivia Munn and Aaron Rodgers dine. The perch fry is delightful as is the pan fried Walleye. The staff really knows how to season the food. The chopped salad seem mixed perfectly. They have a lot of great things to try. Amy one of the staff takes great pride in service. I see her at Starbucks in Green Bay and she knows great service! The line sounds very excited about quality. We know this as we were seated right outside their window and like a kitchen table every word of every order was overheard. Presentation will impress! Just a point to close with... TIP try the goat cheese filled Wontons, boom!

James W.

Yelp
Never again... food was gross asf and my glorious king Jordan love didn't even show up. I'm at a loss for words.

Yelp
Had higher hopes for this place than it lived up to. Walked in and had to look for an employee to seat us - no clear hostess. She then sat us right in between two other parties when over half of the restaurant was empty (and stayed somewhat empty for the duration of our dinner). Only plus side to this was that it perhaps provided some human heat insulation as the restaurant was very cold. I made a reservation for 2 for 6pm on a Thursday night for my moms birthday. We asked in at 6:05 and our dinner came out at 6:57. Now, I do understand that at nicer places like this, food takes longer because--in general--people are coming to sit for a while longer than they would at say, Chili's. However, 50 minutes to get our food seemed a bit absurd. You do get bread to the table in the meantime and it is good with the chives butter it's served with. We got the butternut squash ravioli and the truffle cod. Both were very good but too rich for my taste and my moms. May be good options if you are trying to watch your figure only in that you can't eat the whole thing in one sitting as they are so rich. Other than that just being overly rich, I have no complaints about either dish and found them both satisfying. Onto the ambiance. I found the decor and atmosphere in general a bit cheap for the price tag for the food. I've attached photos here - the fabric looks like it would be in an Olive Garden or something similar and the big fish market wall art looks like something you'd see on the wall of a cafe in the Pacific Northwest, not a 'fine dining' restaurant. I do appreciate the votive candle at each table, though. When I called to make the reservation two days prior, I mentioned that when we order dessert if it could please come out with a candle in it as it would be my moms birthday. I was assured that it would be noted. I didn't trust that so when I went to the restroom, I stopped a server (not ours because she was not nearby) and explained the same thing. He assured me he would pass it along to our server. Long story short, dessert came out with no candle or birthday wishes. About the dessert - we got the special which was essentially a chocolate lava cake with coffee ice cream on top. Save the money and eat half-way cooked brownie batter at home. We specifically asked for the ice cream on the side as I do not eat dairy. It came out with the ice cream already melting on top of the chocolate part. Another point where the staff did not listen and there was no attention to detail. Our server was generally disinterested. She was not rude by any means but did not seem to care about making sure her guests have a great experience. The type of service you would expect at a national chain, not a $$$, more upscale place. In short, if you are going to dine at a $$$ Yelp restaurant, go elsewhere. I would come back here if someone else suggested it and wanted to, but I would not go out of my way to come back here and would be weary of recommending it to others.

Yelp
This is possibly the best steak I have ever had!!!!!!! Started with a cream of chicken and wild rice soup, soup was so flavorful. Then had Classic Steak Fritte - Seared Angus Beef Ribeye with a Sauce of Garlic, Herbs, & Butter with Chive Fries, & Greens Salad with French Herb Vinaigrette. The fries and salad were delicious as well. Finished with egg nog creme brulee which became for me an instant classic. Will be back to Chives again and again and again.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of revisiting this fine establishment and I am so happy to tell you it's as good as ever! Not much has changed over the years. The menu is not exactly the same, but it is very similar and many of the same items previously featured are available and just as good. I still recommend the Thomas Keller French Onion soup. It's one of the best I've ever had. I had the steak frites and the steak melted in my mouth. They still serve the fries under the steak so I recommend getting them on the side so that they are not soggy. I was able to substitute the vegetable of the day for the fries and was not charged a fee. I heard about a year ago that this establishment underwent a new change in ownership. This obviously has not affected the dining experience, so if you are afraid to go because you heard this please go.
google avatar

Yelp
I have had better steak at Texas Roadhouse. The reason for two stars is the service. When we arrived, we were seated in the back with a screaming baby. We asked to change our table but waitress refused. Couldn't even have a conversation because of the screaming kid and the whole restaurant echo's. I ordered the Steak and Frittes. The steak was so tough that I could not cut it with a knife. Hubby got the fish and it wasn't cooked all the way. It was a pile of mushy fish. We would never eat here again. Go across the street to Rustique or the 4 Way Bar for a better meal.
google avatar

Jenny K.

Yelp
So many great things to say about Chives... Where do I start? Their food is excellent, no matter what price range you order from. The grilled cheese is delicious and so is their steak! In my opinion, they have the best French onion soup in town. It's a must if you stop there! I have always had great service and they will take reservations for larger tables. You will not be disappointed. Plus it is so cozy there you will not want to leave.

Yelp
This was a nice date night. I'm not from the area so it was a good find. The ambiance was great. We had to wait for our table and grabbed a drink at the bar. The drink specials were nice. We started with the Shiitake Mushroom Bruschetta and the Chicken and Goat cheese Wontons. We had the chicken marsala and lemon chicken. Portions were generous and we both took home leftovers. The service was great - everyone was very attentive. I'd recommend this to anyone in the area. The Mushroom Bruschetta was awesome.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
Service was great but it was not very busy in the restaurant. The food was good but not as up to par as I would expect based on the prices. The interior decor is nice, simple. The drink menu is decent but nothing super special on the menu to set it apart from other similar places. I expected more from this place and had been dying to try it for years but a little disappointed.

Yelp
Had a great night there and love love love the tequila old fashioned. Was so pleasantly surprised with the amount of veggies in the butternut squash ravioli.
