Yelp
Had higher hopes for this place than it lived up to. Walked in and had to look for an employee to seat us - no clear hostess. She then sat us right in between two other parties when over half of the restaurant was empty (and stayed somewhat empty for the duration of our dinner). Only plus side to this was that it perhaps provided some human heat insulation as the restaurant was very cold.
I made a reservation for 2 for 6pm on a Thursday night for my moms birthday. We asked in at 6:05 and our dinner came out at 6:57. Now, I do understand that at nicer places like this, food takes longer because--in general--people are coming to sit for a while longer than they would at say, Chili's. However, 50 minutes to get our food seemed a bit absurd. You do get bread to the table in the meantime and it is good with the chives butter it's served with.
We got the butternut squash ravioli and the truffle cod. Both were very good but too rich for my taste and my moms. May be good options if you are trying to watch your figure only in that you can't eat the whole thing in one sitting as they are so rich. Other than that just being overly rich, I have no complaints about either dish and found them both satisfying.
Onto the ambiance. I found the decor and atmosphere in general a bit cheap for the price tag for the food. I've attached photos here - the fabric looks like it would be in an Olive Garden or something similar and the big fish market wall art looks like something you'd see on the wall of a cafe in the Pacific Northwest, not a 'fine dining' restaurant. I do appreciate the votive candle at each table, though.
When I called to make the reservation two days prior, I mentioned that when we order dessert if it could please come out with a candle in it as it would be my moms birthday. I was assured that it would be noted. I didn't trust that so when I went to the restroom, I stopped a server (not ours because she was not nearby) and explained the same thing. He assured me he would pass it along to our server. Long story short, dessert came out with no candle or birthday wishes.
About the dessert - we got the special which was essentially a chocolate lava cake with coffee ice cream on top. Save the money and eat half-way cooked brownie batter at home. We specifically asked for the ice cream on the side as I do not eat dairy. It came out with the ice cream already melting on top of the chocolate part. Another point where the staff did not listen and there was no attention to detail. Our server was generally disinterested. She was not rude by any means but did not seem to care about making sure her guests have a great experience. The type of service you would expect at a national chain, not a $$$, more upscale place.
In short, if you are going to dine at a $$$ Yelp restaurant, go elsewhere. I would come back here if someone else suggested it and wanted to, but I would not go out of my way to come back here and would be weary of recommending it to others.
