Chocho Hot Pot - Review - Katy - Houston - The Infatuation

"ChoCho Hot Pot in Katy is basically a Vegas buffet with bubbling cauldrons of soup at every table, complete with lush emerald-and-gold interiors. This Vancouver import gives you 120 minutes of all-you-can-eat hot pot for $48.99, and each person gets their own pot with split broth options like tom yum or sukiyaki. Beef reigns supreme, while a garlicky house sauce poured tableside adds an unusual fine dining touch. The seafood shines too, with sweet abalone and tomalley-filled, head-on South African shrimp displayed so prettily you’re almost loath to mess them up. There's even a dim sum station, though the steamed dumplings are unremarkable. Save your stomach the peach rings from the Dylan’s Bar-style candy station and at least a couple of the exceptionally creamy, custard-filled Portuguese egg tarts. Kids under 10 eat free with each paid adult, and late-night diners score $10 off." - Mai Pham

This was my first visit to ChoCho Hotpot Buffet. The atmosphere upon entering was very nice — from the color scheme of the décor, to the arrangement of the chairs, and even the beautiful patterned floor tiles. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into the restaurant’s design, making the dining environment visually pleasing. However, I feel the experience would be even better without the loud, restless pop music playing in the background. As for the service, the staff were attentive and thoughtful, which left us with a positive impression. Now, onto the food. While I do appreciate the freshness of the ingredients, at this price point, I expected a more extensive selection. Honestly, for $49.99 per person at lunch, if the food isn’t going to be more refined, then at least it should offer greater variety. On top of that, the additional 3% fee for credit card payments was quite surprising and felt unnecessary. Overall, this dining experience wasn’t bad, but based on my impression, I don’t see myself returning unless either more food variety is offered or the lunch price is lowered. This is just my personal opinion, for reference only.

We visited for a birthday celebration, and the chic décor, beautiful atmosphere, and cleanliness really stood out. The buffet area was spotless and well-maintained, with plenty of seafood choices, premium meats, and even a dedicated section for desserts and candy for the kids. The service was excellent — we had several staff members checking in on us throughout our entire dining experience. I especially appreciate that kids eat free with a paying adult — it’s perfect since ours don’t usually eat much, but they absolutely loved the popping boba and the overall experience. We’re already planning to come back, and next time I’ll be sure to take better photos!

When you walk in Chocho Hotpot, the space feels big, clean, and nicely decorated. There are plenty of tables and chairs, great for families or groups of friends. Each person gets their own hotpot, with different broth options like spicy, mild, or rich. The pots look neat and well-prepared. The “Market Table” has lots of fresh ingredients like beef, seafood, vegetables, and hotpot-friendly items. There are also dim sum dishes and milk tea with fun, unique toppings. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy hotpot—delicious food, nice atmosphere, and plenty of choices for everyone.

Signature broth - 9/10 - I would get this spicier next time but loved the flavor Tom yum broth - 8/10 - Tasted tangy like tom yum soup at thai restaurants Mushroom broth - 6.5/10 - Didnt have much flavor besides mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 Thai milk tea - 9/10 - So creamy and not too sweet, could be a tad bit stronger🧋 Lychee mocktail - 9/10 - Sweet and tart Pineapple mocktail - 7/10 - More bitter than sweet, tasted like pineapple🍍 juice and sprite HALAL AYCE hot pot 🍲 alert ‼️🚨 This place has out done itself by marking every little item with “halal” and “not halal friendly” labels including utensils. They have sooo many options and it was fun making our own meals with our choices of broth, meats, toppings, and sauces. I would definitely go back on a cold day (whenever that happens in Houston lol) 😋

Went to @chochohotpot a new Halal hot pot spot in Katy, TX. this place the whole family enjoyed. you selection the broth that you want, I went with the hot tomato broth, and then buffet style selection your meat, veggies and noodles. large selection of meat items to pick from Beef, Lamb, Chicken, Fish, Shrimp, and much more, many types of noodles to select aswell. All items are labeled if they are halal or not, they also do provide separate bowls so there is no cross contamination. Overall this place is a little pricey but the food is great definitely worth it. #food #foodporn #foodphotography #foodstagram #foodblogger #foodblog #foodlovers #foodpic #foodpics #foodie #foodies #halal #halalfood #halalhouston #htxhalal #katytx

My visit to Chocho Hot Pot was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The restaurant has a clean, modern design and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I loved having my own individual pot—being able to choose my own broth and customize everything to my taste was a game-changer. The buffet selection was incredible, from fresh seafood and premium meats to handmade dumplings, noodles, and a wide variety of vegetables. The dim sum offerings were also a nice surprise—especially the BBQ pork buns and shrimp dumplings. The sauce bar was well-stocked, and the dessert options, like fresh ice cream and sesame balls, made for a perfect finish. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional service. Even though the restaurant was packed, the staff remained attentive and friendly throughout our meal. Our server checked in often without being intrusive, and the manager, Gino, made a point to visit our table several times to make sure everything was going well. It’s rare to see that kind of hands-on attention during such a busy night, and it made the experience feel personal and thoughtful. Gino’s genuine care and the staff’s professionalism truly elevated the evening—Chocho isn’t just about great food; it’s about feeling taken care of from start to finish.

For the price, the selection of ingredients felt a bit limited, though everything we tried was fresh. The dim sum stood out as the highlight — flavorful and nicely prepared. The broth was on the lighter side, which some might enjoy, though I personally prefer a richer taste. The atmosphere was pleasant, making it an overall decent dining experience.
