Reservation: Came here for a late Saturday lunch (2:15pm). I made a last minute reservation online for a table of 6, but the earliest seating shown was 3pm. My friends arrived at 2:15pm and the restaurant had plenty of seats, and could sit us immediately. Weird.
Staff: The staff were friendly and introduced the place to my family, since it was our first time there.
Ambience: Love the green and wood combination. Upon stepping in, the Market Table caught our eyes with the bright lights and beautiful display.
Food:
- There were 6 different broths to choose from, and they had pre-selected the two-broth combos. I had the pork broth and tomato broth, which both were flavorful. Hotpot was meant to be communal, but the individual hotpot allowed individuals to get what they really wanted without compromising. The meat selections were ok, but I expected more since the restaurant marketed itself as ‘Premium’. However, they had *abalone*, mussels, scallops, 3 different kinds of fish, big prawns, and more. All the ingredients were fresh, and loved the thinly but big sliced meat for shorter cooking time.
- They had dessert and fruits array at the back. The confusing part here was, with the jellies, gummies, and syrups that they had, they did not have shaved ice. I asked for a cup of shaved ice from the staff, and my kids did their own versions of dessert. The restaurant also served soft serve cone which only came in vanilla flavor.
- The cooked food area had dim sum like shu mai, har gow, buns, regular egg tarts, blueberry egg tarts, rice, and noodles. The steamers must not been warm enough, as the bottom layers of the buns were hard. The har gow filling had no prawn inside, but a small lump of paste-like. The egg tarts weren’t too bad. The molten lava bun was my favorite. The brown sugar dough was good too.
This AYCE hotpot place is the most accommodating restaurant I have ever been to. They have vegan and gluten-free options. There are halal options too. One kid eats for free with every one paying adult.
Note: There is a 3% fee if you pay via credit card. They do prefer cash or debit. The restaurant opens till 1am on Friday and Saturday. Diners pay $29.99 after 11pm on those days.
