Chompie's has a Bakery, Deli, Restaurant and Bar. The atmosphere was nice. So many choices of what to eat👍The presentation of their food was good. We had pastrami sliders and they were really good. The fries were seasoned, but were still good. They don't charge for soda water, which is good. I took a picture of the sign by the bathrooms, the words were cute.

I'm giving Chompie's only one star, not because it deserves only one star but as a sign of my utter disappointment and frankly a little bit of anger because this place could be so much better. I wanted badly to give them a raving review with five stars but I sadly can't. This is a gorgeous establishment from the decor to the atmosphere and it should get five stars, it really should. It has all the right ingredients to be an extremely popular and loved bakery, coffee house restaurant. Unfortunately it fails and I suspect it is only due to bad organization and here I am choosing my words carefully because I do not want to get personal with the manager of this establishment. This place screams of authenticity but fails to deliver. From the automatic coffee machines behind the counter resembling the gas station coffee machines instead of real espresso machines, to somewhat poor selection of bakery items to the poorly maintained tables, it disappoints to a degree that I feel I need to talk to my therapist about it. The Americano coffee tasted fairly decent but the elephant ears that I had with my coffee was definitely not fresh as if it was baked a couple of days ago. The table where I set was not clean and had crumbles from the previous customer. The tables ahead of me where not cleaned and water cup that sat on one of the tables was left there for the entire 30 minutes that I was there without anyone throwing it out and cleaning the table. The sugar and creamer table was not clean and napkin holder was empty. The outside table arrangement looked as though the restaurant is not open yet. If this was my experience just having a cup of coffee and a cake, would I want to come for a breakfast meal here? I think not! I love the look of this place but I am beyond disappointed with the little things that are not right here. It is the little things that makes for a great experience.

Long time customer of Chompies but have never been to this location. And now that I have been there, my favorite location for sure! Used to be a regular customer at Tempe but when it closed, (☹️) went to the Shea location, however, this is now my new spot. 👍 Love the fact that they have a separate take-out area from the main restaurant. Coffee shop vibes with good food. 👍 The server, Veronica was awesome, but also a shout out to everyone here. They seemed generally interested in providing good service, and loved to see the teamwork. 👍 I have never been to Chompies for anything other than breakfast but it did not disappoint fresh, good food. And I brought some sweets to go for the household and got major brownie points. 👍 Always loved the fact they do Bialy's. These are hard to find in AZ but Chompies does them well with a few varieties. 👍 Bloody Mary bar and full bar! Did not utilize it at his visit but down for a Sunday/Funday here or check out their happy hour. Never thought I would say that about Chompies but this location changed my mind.

Google
This new location is very beautifully done and smartly organized with bathrooms in the front separating the deli from the full bar and restaurant. I love the full Chompie's menu but the deli side isn't my favorite. Many better bagel's & bacon egg and cheese sandwiches around town. The bagels are undersized, they forgot our order in the back till I came to ask for it so it was cold, and they forgot my bacon lol. I wanted a new sandwich but I was offered a side of bacon instead and got way more bacon than would have been on the sandwich so that's a wash. I will visit again to give them another shot.

Google
Delish! Not a bad place to break my Yom Kippur fast - a NY style deli and Chompie's was it! I had the Lox and Loaded which was loaded with lox, cream cheese, eggs, and a late (I had that on the side), on a toasted everything bagel. Was a huge meal and the latke was delish too. The best part of the meal was the chocolate 7 layer cake which brought me right back to my childhood! Excellent and I left more than stuffed and fulfilled. The restaurant is huge, with a sitdown bar, bakery, and tchotchkes shop. Oh and a huge outdoor patio. Lovin Chompies!

Google
Delicious food and great service! Happy hour pricing was great for Mimosas, and the Reuben and fries were amazing! Highly recommend!

I'm so sad to leave this review after over 10 years of coming to Chompies for the Matzo Balls and sliders. We had some things come up and thought Chompies was helping us rescue our Thanksgiving, but boy were we wrong. The "Thanksgiving Dinner" we ordered was a complete ripoff. Individual meal for $30 sounded pricey, but we get it. It's supposed to be special and you gotta pay people well for working on a holiday. A few slices of dry deli meat, cold stuffing, a pressed in half scoop of mashed potatoes and a few small side items should not cost over $30 per person. The rolls were dry and dense, the turkey gravy was bizarrely filled with red bell peppers. Overall a strangely flavored, underportioned, overcooked and cold meal. We're willing to accept an upcharge to eat takeout on Thanksgiving, but $30 for this? Staff attitudes weren't great either, but I get it as they were slammed and working on thanksgiving, and dealing with stressed guests. Overall if I could get my money back I would, as I feel incredibly ripped off by a restaurant I've always trusted for a really good comfort meal. What a ruined holiday.

Google
First time visitor, the staff are attentive, and friendly. Food is delicious, and the restaurant is clean, and decorated tastefully, with a mural of New York scenes in one wall. I will certainly find a way to come back Prices are reasonable too

Briana A.

Yelp
My favorite place for a bagel in the morning. Not to mention the amount of cream cheese is insane. The jalapeño cheddar bagel is delicious. The chive cream cheese.... 10/10. A must stop if you're in the area

Jacqui B.

Yelp
I was craving a corned beef Reuben for about two weeks, so I had finally tortured myself long enough. I also remembered I could get the sandwich on a gluten-free option at Chompie's, so I headed that direction. The dining room was about half full, the indoor-outdoor bar had a few people around it also. There were seemingly piles of food on every table! I really enjoyed the half-size sandwich, got chicken noodle soup as my side, plus it came with coleslaw. I really like the layout of this relocated Paradise Valley location.

Yelp
Original Review December 25, 2025: To this day no one reached out to us or better yet post a apology online. Not asking for anything free just accountability. Been going to this restaurant when it was originally located in the mall. Waiters are fantastic and hard-working. We followed the staff to this location. Management doesn't care.. it's official we're gone that's our experience. Sad

Christi L.

Yelp
This is so sad..... Chompie's was a hit in my family and now its embarrassing to even bring them here. Stopped in while waiting for clothes at the laundromat, service was insanely slow at the bar, our bartender came and took our order THREE times before he actually put it in. I asked to speak to management and was told that they said they were too busy in the deli. I have NEVER experienced such a dirty and disrespectful experience from an establishment, let alone Chompie's. It seems it is the new standard here. Take your business elsewhere .

Candace T.

Yelp
Long wait for a table ridiculously long but counter service was extremely quick . Really overpriced but I NEEDED a lox bagel so ...anyway the bagels were very good the lox bagel was full of lox and the chicken salad was delicious very obviously store made . I don't know if it's worth the very long wait for a table but certainly it's worth taking out

Veronica C.

Yelp
Love Chompies Just an overall good place to enjoy good food and bonus they're open on Christmas Day!

Zipporah A.

Yelp
Hadn't been here in a while...Annnd our location closed down so trying this location and not being here made for a great experience back our serve who was so polite, I hope he doesn't go to hard on me for not remembering his name. But he was so helpful. The restrooms were clean and I was literally about to bust. The dinning space is huge and offers their bakery and store on the other side. They have outside seating and the food was absolutely delicious. We both got the originals since this place was near and dear to our hearts okay more like our stomachs but it was like an anniversary not having been in so long. Well worth driving from my side of town just to eat hot good from here.

Diana B.

Yelp
Service is awful. Waited & waited. 20 mins. Finally someone came. Food was too expensive. Egg sandwich, & my friends country breakfast with beverages came to $55. Not worth it

Brad W.

Yelp
Another miserable attempt at food. The brisket on the sliders was extremely fatty and less than half was edible. The chicken in the noodles soup was dark meat and fries were soggy. Bad day and bad location.

Patrick K.

Yelp
I absolutely love this Chompies! We go here at least a couple times per month. I love their salads most of all. Omelettes, burros, and pancakes are also outstanding. Service is always top notch.

Yelp
I'm not quite sure how to describe this eatery. It's part New York deli and part Texas diner with Mexican flavoring. There is ample parking. You should probably get on the waiting list if you want to eat here on the weekend anytime before 2 pm. The decor is quite showy. The food is designed to fill you up. You will not leave hungry. I ordered a hamburger and I managed to eat it all. It was very tasty and cooked exactly to my specifications. I also had a great tasting latte with soy milk. There is a nice patio. The waiter was very attentive but a little forgetful. All our food arrived quite quickly.

Gayl B.

Yelp
Wow, you really need an appetite or a doggie bag! Portions are huge! I had the protein pancakes and they were delicious! I'm looking forward to my leftovers tomorrow morning! Service was great. If you come here on the weekend like we did, expect to wait until a table opens up. There are a lot of tables inside and an outside patio area too.

Shelbie P.

Yelp
My husband and I loved this place! It is so spacious and they even have a cute market on one side where you can purchase gifts, desserts, breads, bagels, beverages and much more. The service was great and we got our food super quick. The menu has a ton of options, so there is something for everyone. I definitely want to come back to try more of the menu!

Chef Rick Z.

Yelp
Tried the food again. Dreadful. Toast was not toasted. Eggs runny, bacon and sausage under cooked. Service slow.

Jeffrey M.

Yelp
Greetings Brunch Fans around the World! 2024 is Already an awesome year!! January 4th is my Birthday and like a famed Actor George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Ryan Reynolds. Hundreds Fans filled the stands To Pay Tribute to Their Favorite TARGET CASHIER ASSOCIATE. My Closet Friend and Christian Brother Vaughn invited me here. My Egg-white Omelette was Superb!! Yelp
Always good, the pastrami, egg and Swiss bagel is the Best! You need to try it for yourself

Cheryl J.

Yelp
I love the people who wait on us at the to go counter. Their deli is the best. The bagels bialys. Everything. I've been going since I moved here in 1987. Love my Chompie's

Art B.

Yelp
Quality is inconsistent, more likely than not, inconsistency and please make iit right,, say something and you go on a GMs (Jaime) and unexpected. Visit at your table, why'd you complain we are here to make money, hospitality lacking. Another opinion, GM (Jaime) is a piece of !El Toro caca. Devolved from a great Jewish Deli to, who knows what. Do they even know who the Brooklyn Dodgers were before going to LA, Less likely than not Here comes Jaime, how's my report card?

Nortondawg B.

Yelp
Pastrami and pickles were great. Grilled rye, no I wanted it toasted. Grilled had extra oil soaked in. Cole slaw mediocre. I'd still give it another try. I thought I was overcharged. Sent e mail, no response.

Stacy S.

Yelp
By far our favorite breakfast spot! The food is always delicious, the service is always attentive, and the portions are very generous. I can always get two meals out of my breakfast. My favorite is the Baja omelette and my boyfriend loves the All American breakfast and the strawberry shortcake pancakes. However the best part to me is you can get a latke instead of potatoes or hash browns. Definitely the way to go!!

Bryan S.

Yelp
Yeah, I was hankering for one of those pastrami sandwiches. Haven't been into this new location so I thought I would try it out.. what a disaster waited in line for 12 minutes get up to the cashier to order my pastrami sandwich with potato salad no drink $28 WTF for a sandwich ? No, I know why Henry Ford felt the way he did . So I decided to call and speak to the manager. The girl that answered identified herself as the manager and asked me if I could wait on on hold. Yes, you're gonna waste more of my time by putting me on hold on the phone. Yeah I'm done. That's the last time they will see this pretty face.

Michael G.

Yelp
Never a long wait and always great food with good value. Servers are awesome and attentive.

Nicole H.

Yelp
Oh dear. We (Mark H.) has a weak spot for a good diner. I've had Chompie's bagels quite a few times at work, but we weren't aware that Chompie's has an attached restaurant where you can sit down to eat until a friend pointed this out to us recently. If we die early from eating too much Chompie's, it's their fault. To start, the menu is MASSIVE. Do you want traditional greasy diner American breakfast food with eggs and chicken fried steak? You're in luck! How about a reuben? There's multiple reuben options on the menu! Bagel sandwich? They have loads. Feeling some traditional Matzo Brei or potato latkes? No problem. So far, we've tried the corned beef hash (the best I've ever had), one of the reuben options, the cheese blintzes, and the matzo brei. I haven't even sampled one tenth of the items I'm excited to try. There are whole omelet and eggs benedict sections just waiting for me. There also appears to be a full bar, if you're feeling like an Irish mule on St. Patty's Day. This might be our new weekend tradition.

Shirley L.

Yelp
I recently tried Chompie's jalapeño bagel and coffee cake and I must say, I was blown away by the delicious flavors! The jalapeño bagel had the perfect amount of spice and was incredibly fresh and chewy. The coffee cake was moist, flavorful, and had a generous amount of crumb topping that added a nice crunch. I paired my breakfast treats with a cup of their coffee and I was equally impressed. The coffee was rich and smooth, the perfect accompaniment to my meal. The overall experience at Chompie's was fantastic and I will definitely be coming back for more of their tasty baked goods and great coffee. I highly recommend stopping by Chompie's for a delicious breakfast or snack. You won't be disappointed!

Richard F.

Yelp
"TASTY BUT TOO SALTY." -coffee was basic and watered down (no bold flavors nor body) -potato wages seasoning needs to be revamped. -the bagels were good. -the steak, potatoes, egg, cheese and gravy bagel was so good but it was too salty I couldn't finish it. -we asked for stuffed French toast and got regular. -the cole slaw was good. Would I come back. Yes I'm going to give them another shot!

Taylor H.

Yelp
This place is so unorganized! I came in to buy some loafs of challah bread. While I was waiting in the line there were two employees redecorating the front displays with no intention of helping any of the customers waiting in line. I was waiting at least 10 minutes if not longer before an employee even asked if I had been helped yet. There was literally one other person in front of me and who knows how long he had been waiting. By the tone of his voice and his irritation with the employees I'm sure it was just as long as me. This is the second time I've came to this location and have experienced this unnecessary long wait.

Bill B.

Yelp
I've been going to the various locations for decades now! I am happy to share the terrific value, excellent food, and great service with my children with a nearer location. The bagels are the best in town and I highly recommend their version of the nova lox called the Wall Street or any of their fantastic sliders.

Sharon B.

Yelp
Great food and service. I brought home some yummy old school bakery cookies. Chompie's is one of our regular breakfast spots. Usually crowded but we never have to wait long to get a seat. Went with two friends this trip and they enjoyed their meals too.

Bryan M.

Yelp
Just my reconfirmation that this is the ONLY New York style deli that you need . Perfection on every level , service is more than perfect , food is quality as can be

Norm R.

Yelp
This place is impressive in size and the variety of things to look at and to purchase in the store area is impressive. Service is relatively fast and efficient. I found the food to be adequate in quantity but rather average in quality, and quite pricey. Very spacious parking area, though that can be quite crowded during peak hours and holidays.

Marty S.

Yelp
Excellent egg, sausage, cheese on egg bagel. I'd share a picture but I ate it. Got it to go, so I can't comment on much else. I love Chompies for breakfast and lunch.

Buzz F.

Yelp
Serene was amazing as always. Chompie's is blessed to have a talented staff of folks like her.

Michelle J.

Yelp
Tried Chompie's for the first time on a Sunday. It had a good crowd but there was no waiting! The service was excellent - fast and friendly. Our server was super helpful and answered all our questions. Deciding on a lunch item was a challenge because there were 3 menus: bagel sandwiches, breakfast and the lunch/dinner menus. Although I didn't count - my guess is there is over 75 options! Based on my server's recommendation , I chose the Tuna Melt on sourdough with coleslaw. I would give the sandwich a 3.5 out of 5. It was good but could have used a bit more flavor (maybe a stronger flavored cheese). That said, my overall rating based on all factors is a 4. Definitely worth a try and I will definitely be back!

Hannah A.

Yelp
This was my first time eating alone in a very long time but I had to try out their eggs benedict again while I was in the area. When I arrived I went to the host and was seated after they had finished their conversation... :/ Once I was seated I was ignored for about 10 minutes and then someone came up to me and asked if I had been taken care of... I said no.. I then order the chompies eggs bene and a water. After I received my food I tried it and was not impressed at all! The bagel it came on was tougher than leather to cut and the hollandaise sauce was disgusting, the cheese they used wasn't even melted. I remember it being so much better than that.. after that the server came up dropped off the bill and then I paid my $16.28 bill and left a great tip but nobody came to check on me so I just left... crap service..

Jan S.

Yelp
Best food ever! We order items from the bakery for celebrations and we also go in for lunch and dinner. Delicious.

Ray M.

Yelp
Went Thursday afternoon We just flew in from Denver and went to our favorite place. We have been going to Chompies for over 20 years! Unfortunately we discovered that The Cooks were new and so was our waiter. The food was really badly cooked and not up to our standard Chompie meal. I mean awful! We asked for the manager! Summer showed up and she made everything perfect and in fact we could not wait to come back after her accommodations. She admitted immediately that her staff were new and she is working with them. She comped our meal, gave us cheesecake and cookies to go ( we did not ask for anything but she went above and beyond to make things right! She was so sweet and concerned, that we believe management should make her a partner! We will be back often and I really hope management reads about what a difference their manager at this location can make! Thanks Summer!!!

Raquel A.

Yelp
We had great service at the dine-in area for which I left 5-stars, but the to-go/deli side needs some improvement. I stop in occasionally on my way to work, and they are so slow! The first time I stopped in before work I thought for sure there would be a long line. Nope, only one person ahead of me. Still seemed to be waiting for too long to even place my order. And most of the employees really don't seem to want to be there. I know that customer service most places has tanked, especially since Covid, but I'm going to continue to call it out. I was taught that no matter what job you do you should give it your all and take pride in the job you do. You don't just show up and expect a paycheck. You earn it. I'm not sure some of these folks are earning it, but instead just going through the motions. One last thing I want to mention is about the Wall Street sandwich. I've had lox bagel sandwiches at many places, both here and on the east coast. Why is it just onion and tomato with the lox and cream cheese? Other places include capers, and possibly even cucumber - both of which really add flavor. The Chompies version just doesn't cut it and not worth the price. I'll still stop in, but make sure to give myself plenty of time so I won't be late for work, and I'll stick with just bagels and cream cheese.

Debbi P.

Yelp
Great for deli and bagels. The bagels are always super fresh and so good!!! Can meet all your needs for a breakfast, brunch or any occasion.

Saul R.

Yelp
Richard is always so much pleasant and attentive. Always comes around and asks how we're doing even when we're being helped by another server. Not to mention the food is fantastic.

Steven P.

Yelp
Service was slow knish came out cold as did my wife's soup. Never offered mustard or anything for her sandwich. Stuffing never happened on the turkey. Sandwich on wrong bread. Server apologized for the knish. So much for my birthday dinner.

Laurie A.

Yelp
I love all the Chompie locations in the valley. The food and service never disappoints no matter what location we are dining in. We usually go here when we are celebrating either a holiday, birthday or milestone with our family. It's a great place for groups. The sliders are my go-to dish. We always get pastries, cream cheese, bagels and breads to go before we leave. We were at the east Thunderbird location and there was a very friendly older gentleman giving out samples. He gave me so many ideas on what to buy in the bakery area and how to prepare them differently. I hope they stay in business forever!

Mary C.

Yelp
Visiting here from Texas. This place was recommended by family. Upon entering, it is very nice, clean and everyone was hospitable. The bakery items looked delicious. I ordered the Chompie s Sliders with potato wedges.

Ds Z.

Yelp
Wow, what a bad experience... Walked in to place a sandwich order, on Saturday @ 2:45p, Place was empty yet it took ALL 3 of the counter people to help the couple in front of me as NONE of them knew what to do, or how to ring up their rather simple order (I should have left then) actually needed a supervisor to bail them out...Finally took me, a simple sandwich order, slaw & a cookie, they put my slaw & cookie in a separate bag, and had me wait for the sandwich...15 min later, they realized that they hadn't sent the order back to the kitchen, lamely apologized, didn't even offer me a beverage whilst I waited, and got it out to me after yet another 10 min. wait...They screwed up the entire thing, and all I asked for was 1,000 island on the side, not even in the bag...Sandwich had been hastily thrown together, slices of bread were damaged, very poor service, got slaw juice all over the cookie...And for this I paid $30???...I will NEVER order at this location again...Reciept #603 just in case you're interested

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Such a great place! Went to the Cactus road location which is the best one of the bunch. There's a separate deli which carry's all the traditional Jewish deli items. From whitefish salad to lox to great hamantaschen and rugelach cookies. People are super friendly and want to help. Go for the extensive Reuben selection, Mile, high sandwiches, matzoh, ball soup, Montecristo sandwiches they've got it all. They even have a 24 hour breakfast menu full of specialties. They even have gluten-free options, as well as low-carb, high-protein options. A great place for family or couples. The restaurant is large service is great.

Dennis E.

Yelp
Amazing menu with a huge assortment of creative dishes and sandwiches. Dishes are plentiful. Had the Leo (lox, eggs, and onions) and couldn't finish it. Service is stellar and friendly. A go-to restaurant.

Sonia B.

Yelp
I'm not sure which lisiting is current - this one or the other - but I'll add my thoughts here too! Now that they've settled into the new location, I can provide a bit more feedback. I haven't had a sit-down meal in the restaurant section yet, but I've eatten in the cafe area and am there for take-out at least twice a month. The to-go ordering process, unfortunately, hasn't gotten any clearer. I still don't know where to stand, who's next, etc. Others still seem confused too. However, the bagels, the bagels the bagels. There are no other bagels in town, IMHO, than Chompies. If you like a solid NY-style bagel, this is your place. Some artisanal places are fine, but I just want a good bagel and Chompies delivers. Unfortunately it's pretty much the only item I can buy from here that's vegan. I keep hoping they'll add hummus to the deli case, or offer some kind of solid vegan options on the dining menu. Or a vegan margarine for the bagels. In the meantime, I will continue to return for the bagels, to-go!

Taylor M.

Yelp
I enjoy Chompies! We used to go to the Shea location for breakfast all the time but have been frequenting the Cactus location more recently and it does not disappoint. My partner had the Pastrami breakfast bagel sandwich and I had the La Jolla Salad. They were very accommodating in changing our seating as well when a big party was being seated right next to us.

Action J.

Yelp
I made the mistake of stopping by this location today to get a coffee and bagel. When I approached the counter the staff member kept addressing me as "Habibi" - presumably because of my Middle Eastern background. Please don't do this to random customers who you presume are Middle Eastern - it's very bizarre and unwelcome, just like calling a random Native American customer "Chief" would be bizarre and unwelcome. I ordered a Nitro Cream Cold Brew and a Jalapeno Bagel. I received a blueberry bagel and the wait for the coffee was 15 minutes long. This combination of an incorrect order, an odd interaction, and a prolonged wait made the overall experience subpar and I would hesitate to consider returning in the future.
