The 38 Best Kuala Lumpur Restaurants | Eater

"This traditional kopitiam has been serving local breakfast favorites through half a century and three generations. In the early days, it was a three-story operation, with a coffee shop on the ground floor, restaurant on the second, and hotel on top. Only the coffee shop remains today, but it still draws plenty of customers for roti bakar (toasted bread with homemade coconut jam), soft-boiled eggs, and aromatic coffee. [$$]" - Ian Poh Jin Tze

A nostalgic stop with an old-school charm. While the food and drinks are fairly average, what truly stands out is the friendly and welcoming service from the staff. Their warmth adds a comforting touch that makes the visit worthwhile, especially if you’re just looking to relax and soak in the local vibes.

This is already well known as the go to place for breakfast when in Klang. It's located just opposite the train stop and within walking distance from Little India. Colourful surroundings and the unique cafe is among the few left in the country where you see different races come together in a shop operated using a Chinese name. This is a halal place, offering a diverse choice of breakfast fare. They have their own set menu and there are plenty of ala carte choices as well.

This quaint coffee house used to be an ancient liquor shop. The place is super retro & stylish in its own way. Should visit if visiting the Klang area.

Good place to hang out with friends and reminisce old klang town. Various races enjoy the harmony and peace of local variety food which include curry puff, various versions of nasi lemak, hainan bread and more importantly is the surroundings and environment. Good value for price too.

Chong Kok Kopitiam – Where Calories Don’t Count (Because Nostalgia Burns Them Off!) So, I finally did it. I braved the legendary parking nightmare of Tengku Kelana and made my way to Chong Kok Kopitiam, the OG Chinese halal kopitiam smack in the middle of Klang’s Little India. I’d heard the stories, seen the hype, but let’s be real—I was just too lazy to hunt for a parking spot. But fate (or my wife's grumbling stomach) decided that on one fine Saturday morning, before heading to the museum in Shah Alam, I’d give it a shot. And guess what? I struck gold—I got parking right in front of the shop. At that moment, I knew… today was going to be a good day. Stepped in, found a table like a boss (it was empty, but let’s pretend I fought for it), and got our orders taken in a flash. My caffeine-hungry soul went for Kopi O, while the wife and kids went for Milo O. But the real feast? A little bit of everything—steamed and toasted kaya butter buns, two soft-boiled eggs, Nasi Lemak Pulau Ketam, Nasi Lemak Sotong, and Kuih Sagu. The Kopi O? Thick. Strong. Bold. The kind that makes you question why you ever tolerated 3-in-1 coffee. The toast? Crispy, buttery perfection. That homemade kaya? A masterpiece—sweet, fragrant, and paired with butter, it was like a symphony of flavors. Now, let’s talk about the Nasi Lemak Pulau Ketam. This wasn’t your typical nasi lemak drowning in sambal. No sir, this one came with a dry, almost powdery sambal that had me skeptical at first… until I took a bite. Boom. Mind blown. Spicy, flavorful, and strangely addictive. The Nasi Lemak Sotong was also solid—tender, well-seasoned squid, no complaints there. Dessert? Kuih Sagu. Soft, chewy, and sweet enough to make me question if I really needed that extra packet of nasi lemak to go (spoiler: I took it anyway). On the way out, I grabbed a jar of their homemade kaya because, let’s be honest, I need that goodness in my life. The shop itself? Old-school charm, hectic but lively, with the beautiful soundtrack of clinking cups, buzzing conversations, and the occasional “Oi, order belum sampai ah?” moment. Even saw the staff clean up a spilled drink in record time—efficiency at its finest. Now, is it cheap? Not exactly. But for the taste, the quality, and the “back to the ‘90s” vibes? Worth it. Will I be back? If the parking gods allow it, absolutely.

Based on the hype given, eventhough not peak busy, I am sad to say that the coffee is watered down, food cold and lembik. Kuih ok la biasa. Nasi lemak was a let down as no lemak flavour and too little sambal with chewy anchovies. No kacang. Popiah and cucur was lembik. The profile of having made it and great place many many years ago no longer holds. The fame and quality and charm of before has deteriorated over time which is sad. Staffs were helpful. Very old style order taking which shows no interest in improving. Price ok la but can get more fresh food by road side nasi lemak and kuih store. However their muhibah customers evident just that food wasn’t what it was. The fresh nasi lemak stall gone. Old school charm, don’t feel it. Don’t waste your time. The kopi o was meh… But then many still walking in.. Would come back if there is improvement but then …

Yelp
Being a Klang people, despite of Bak Kut Teh, this is basically my favourite spot for breakfast in town! This kopitiam is nearby klang ktm station, just within 1 min of walking distance and you will see this coffee shop. Please come early to have a look on how local people eat their breakfast and lunch here. This is a very special and traditional coffee shop in Klang town. This is where the place you see chinese, malay and indian can sit on one round table and have meal together. Their operation start on 1940, as a hotel, sell alcoholic drink but now only sell breakfast and coffee while they remain the original look of the shop layouts. Price range is $. The chinese owned the shop, sell drinks, half boiled egg, roti bakar (toasted with charcoal) and nasi lemak in package while malay owned the stall, selling rojak and nasi lemak. I am their big fan of half boiled kampung egg. Seriously, the boiled the best half boiled egg I ever had. Their egg always in fresh, in perfection. You are need not to scratch the inner egg shell as there is no egg left inside the shell once you crack it off! (*yum yum) During the peak hour, you can see everyone will start "tumpang" table as there is not much seat there. But this is how we eat our breakfast and start to chit chat with people around us. :) I will recommend you to try this kopitiam whenever you come to klang town. Besides, it is very near to "Under bridge bak kut teh" Revisit? Couldn't give a reason to reject it :)

Yelp
The shop is located very near the train station where parking is so hard to find. The coffee is really really good. Must try their nasi lemak, especially the sambal. It was sold out before we could get ours today, sad!

Yelp
Absolutely the best place for breakfast (if you can find parking) Great coffee, nasi lemak, mee hun, soft-boiled eggs and roti bakar(I usually eat 2 plates) A must go when you get the chance to be around Klang's train station in the morning(to get a hold on to the nasi lemaks)

Yelp
cheap and authentic food but so crowded! it's like ikea on weekends but double the crowd. People are constantly eyeing at your seat like how I literally stare at jake gyllenhaal in brokeback mountain. If you have more than an empty seat at your table you gotta share dont forget the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery on the same street!!! underrated and excellent museum, free entry!

Yelp
Served the best black coffee in town. Morning breakfast, famous with their nasi lemak and half boiled eggs. One major issue, parking issue.
