Chongqing Chicken Pot Opens at Chinatown’s Bellaire Food Street in Houston | Eater Houston

"A new Asiatown hot-pot concept on Bellaire Food Street that opened for a soft launch on July 28, it serves a unique hybrid: large, shareable stir-fry platters that, after the initial meal, are finished by pouring a rich broth into the bowl so diners can add more ingredients and turn the dish into a hot pot. Offerings include the namesake chicken pot—packed with “superior” chicken, red pepper, onion, celery, cilantro, and a special chicken pot sauce; a fiery frog pot loaded with lots of chiles; and a garlic pork ribs pot with potatoes, peppers, and cilantro. The spot serves lunch and dinner (currently 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Sunday–Thursday, and 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Friday–Saturday) and joins several recent openings at the bustling Bellaire Food Street development." - Amy McCarthy

Google
I am not hundred percent sure how authentic the actual dish is, but it exceeded my expectation since the outside of the restaurant didn’t really portray the dishes that well. I got the medium spice chicken pot and added two veggies which I am very glad we did bc if I just had stuck with their original base it’s just a lil too much protein and not enough veggies and crunch. But with the addition of the bamboo shoots and enoki, they were able to soak up some of the sauces and gave an extra layer of flavor and depth to this dish. The chicken base is more of the sweeter spice type and the medium is actually pretty nice not overly spicy. I actually added extra spice in the end. The waitress and owner were nice and even tried to explain that it’s not worth the money for me if I just added a bullfrog in the chicken pot. It’s nice to have honest owners who aren’t just out there to make you pay extra for something that’s not worth it just to make more themselves. Is it worth it? I would say yes, but I would definitely add some extra veggies in. My bf and I finished the dish and feel satisfied by the amount. It would be nice if they added just another veggie in the original pot for free to give it the extra value. Other than that, I would have no other complaints.

Google
First time here and glad we did. Took the advice of our fabulous waiter, Jon, and went with the chicken hot pot and the fried boa with pork. Boa was good but the hot pot was to die for. So many layers of flavor! Wow!!! The restaurant carries a cool boutique vibe. Jon asked us to come back and try some more of the Chinese specials and we definitely will.

Went for family dinner yesterday (11 Jan). Bosses were friendly. Even though seat capacity is limited but food has a lot of varieties. Comfort food~ the food is nice and we enjoyed ourselves. Food suitable for all ages. :) It was my first time there but my brother and his family has been there before and the owner (John) remember my nieces. Food portion is enough for us to share and w e have 5 adults and 2 kids (Age 2.5 and 7) and we ordered 1 vegetable 🍆 dish, 1 chicken dish, 1 noodle dish, 1 miso hotpot and steam buns. If you are around the area you can go and try and you won't regret it.

I tried the chicken hot pot here and I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The waiting time is totally worth it. The hot pot arrived filled with a generous amount of tender chicken chunks, along with an assortment of fresh pepper. The portion size was ample, making it a satisfying meal for more than one person, all in all, the chicken hot pot was a hearty and delicious meal. We also ordered one to go meal of Port Intestine and Stomach with Chicken pot. We definitely will be coming back to try more of their dishes.

Google
Happy New Year to everyone. The restaurant is nice and quiet. Service is friendly. But the food and price is not right. The portion of the food is about half of the price you pay. The quality of food is like Chinese fast food.

Google
Its my second time back cause it’s so good!! We ordered the catfish and chicken, both are so delicious. I like the fish better but it will melt as you cook the fish fillet in the sauce for longer time, but the sauce/soup just get better and better! It’s a pretty interesting concept where you get the pot, then add more sides like vegetable and lamb slices to it like hot pot. Remember to ask the waiter to add soup as it is boiling. We got some ramen and it pairs so perfectly with the sauce!! Waiter was so nice. He gave us a quick tour around the restaurant and we’re so surprised to find out that the beams are chopsticks inspired!! Food is delish, waiter is super nice. Definitely recommend!!

Google
Absolutely blown away not only by the amazingly tasty food at ChongQing Chicken Pot but their staff is very welcoming and provided our family with the best customer service we have experienced in a long while. Top notch from being greeted upon entrance, their thoroughness of explaining the dishes offered, their timing for checking back on the table and their hospitality from the Manger/Owner who came over and made a special spice for my sons dish when he found out he liked spice. We will see you all soon!

Yelp
Food was really good, unique dining experience because if you get their signature chicken or other pot dishes they'll bring it out and keep it heated on a hot plate built into your table. Presentation, food, ambiance were all amazing.

Yelp
Healthy, authentic Schezuan Chinese at great prices! They will ask you if you want your dishes to be not spicy (my husband LOVES authentic Schezuan, so he said to load up on the peppercorn!! LOL!). We were originally supposed to go to Kura Sushi next door but the line was ridiculous (we didn't reserve in advance) so we left and decided to try this place, as we meant to try it anyway for some time. We ordered 2 appetizers (fried fish dish and chicken bao..delish!), 2 veggie sides (cold cucumber salad and steamed marinated spinach), a chicken hot pot, braised beef, and. Schezuan (fish/seafood stew)??- my husband ordered that one. We were pleasantly surprised! Lots of meat and fish for stew and meat dishes...fresh veggies...garlic, spices. This isn't your typical American Chinese food (i.e. orange chicken, chow fun, general Tsos chicken you can get now in the frozen section at your local supermarket), so if that's what you are looking for, there's the frozen section of the local Chinese fast food takeout for you. This is fresh stuff with lots of flavor that you don't get to experience in a typical American Chinese restaurant (they tend to be too sweet and too greasy to cater to Americans and I want a healthier, more authentic option without having to drive up to Mesa or some other faraway location). Oh, did I mention they have Hot Pots at great prices (limited add-on varieties though)? Overall, the check came out to about the same as our local Chinese fast food takeout near our home. This is now a no brainer: drive 3 more miles and do a takeout here for healthier food. Would definitely come back! Screw the long lines and increasing prices at Kura Sushi! We found a pretty authentic Schezuan restaurant that is healthy and won't break the bank right next door.. without having to go to Mesa or North Chandler!

Yelp
From the time we stepped inside of the restaurant, we were greeted by a very friendly staff. They went over the menu provided some excellent suggestions since this was our first time coming in. We opted for the two person chicken hot pot with the medium spice levels. It came out piping, hot delicious full of flavor with plenty of chicken enough for two in fact, we brought quite a bit home. We added some noodles tofu added potatoes as well as rice excellent meal Very fulfilling, looking forward to returning

Yelp
They were very nice, and you could tell that they were trying.... The restaurant decor was pretty simple, it looked pretty clean. However, we tried the food on the "American" menu. The server was like, this is American Asian food, like Panda Express...but I was craving beef chow fun so I ordered it anyway. Now, they weren't super busy so I wasn't sending it back, but tbh it was the absolute worst beef chow fun I ever had in my life. Like I don't make it regularly and I've made it better. 0/10 Biggest had the wonton soup. She loved it and the soup wasn't too salty, and had nice flavor. 9/10 Mini mini had the Kung pao chicken. It had nice flavor but omg it was salty. She drank 5 glasses of water while she was eating it and that's more than normal for her. 6/10 They came to the table and gave us free steamed buns and apologized that they didn't know how to make beef chow fun, but if they didn't know how to make it, they should have told me they were out and I would have ordered something else. Overall, it's possible the "Chinese" menu is better but it wasn't a good experience for us. We don't live close at all, so I wouldn't make a long drive to eat here.

Yelp
Wanted try something new and went out to lunch with my mom.. She picked this place so I decided to give it a try. Well..... Wanted to try the hotpot and was in the mood for some seafood. We were the only customer when we went in. Should have been a hint went nobody was there and when the owner I'm guessing told us to order a chicken dish (later I realized name of the place said chicken on it) we should have stuck with the dish she recommended. Ordered the seafood hotpot with whopping price tag of $37. Each table had cooktop but she brought a portable burner which I thought it was funny. The bowl was pretty small and it was filled to the top. Ordered noodle to eat with the hotpot which made me laugh more when she brought two instant ramen. The broth flavor was OK had little kick but nothing crazy spicy. Ordered medium level since my mom don't like super spicy. For the price of $37, I got some fish, fish ball, tofu, 2 small sticks of imitation crab, 4 clams, 2 pieces of squid, one cut up crab (small no meat/just for flavor), and some small amounts of veggies. All I can say is I don't know how they stay in business. Maybe the chicken dish is tasty but the seafood hotpot was way over priced and not that good. If the bowl cost $9 maybe it would not have been that painful. Only joy and laughter I got out of eating at this place was my mom complaining about everything. How small the bowl was, how expensive it was, how it was not good, salty blah blah. Never seen my mom complain so much about a restaurant in my life.. . I did remind her she picked the place. So little lunch endeavor cost over $52 bux with tip. One seafood hot pot, 2 orders of ramen and water. It's safe to say I would not return to this place.

Yelp
Came here on whim trying to figure out something new to eat. Needless to say, I was very pleasantly surprised. I felt a little lost looking at the menu and not knowing what was good, the server was very attentive and helpful and gave me the best suggestions on which pot to choose and what veggies add ons would work great with it. The broth is very rich and flavorful and the chicken is cooked perfectly. I am happy to have tried it and encourage people in the area to try it out!

Yelp
I go here every other week or more. My special dish is the flowing sequence: beef pot , chicken pot , pork pot. Also, their rice portion is generous than other places I went. I highly recommend this place since the lady who works there is very friendly and foods are tasty! Lastly, great interior design as well.

Yelp
Second time eating here. So 2 meals in the books & both were outstanding. Both of my dinner guests were bland so we only hat the chicken pot but I'm looking forward to trying the frog and other stuff for sure!! Love the spice they use, it's perfecto

Yelp
Got the hot and sour soup and Chicken low mein. Btw the soup is huge, which I loved but I barely could eat my noodles, which were also yummy. Also the ordering process was different, you use the QR code and order it there, but at the end you still go through the server to pay.

Yelp
Shout out to Z!!! She's very Welcoming and nice!!! This place is one of those, come in, sit down, and cook it yourself spots, which, I'm not big on... so we ordered "to go" as ordering "to go" means that you're getting it already cooked!!! Whew!!! (Ain't nobody got time for all that) The food is yummy but, the prices are extremely expensive unless you're with a group and you're sharing. Their menu has photos, which makes it easy to order if you're not sure of what to get. (Hey don't judge I love a photo menu) There's plenty of parking onsite, and the restaurant is easy to locate. Pictures speak volumes, as the food taste just as good as it looks!!! Again, pricey but good! My only suggestion is DO NOT GET MEDIUM SPICE if you don't like spicy foods...I ended up adding water and calming the flavors down on leftovers. I also suggest that if you get any sides... ask questions, because I didn't know that a side of sweet potatoe noodles were these 3-8 huge noodles that went inside of the dish and that they would taste nothing like sweet potatoes. Lol Anyway yes go with your crew or if you're in the mood to sit, talk, and cook together. Tell Z and the the guy who appeared to possibly be the Manager (who came into the restaurant to talk to me and left) Hi as well. ‍

Yelp
I love that we randomly found this place on a weekend while we were shopping at 99 Ranch Market. This is a dry pot turned into hot pot situation and it was delicious. We chose the fish pot and added some veggies in it. First we tried it just as is and it was so flavorful and spicy. Then midway we added hot broth and that just brought it to a whole other level. So good. Added noodles at the end and it was a great meal. Our waitress was very patient with us and explained to us how the dished worked and she was awesome. The place itself is of good size and plenty of tables to enjoy a meal whether you have a small or big party.

Yelp
Had lunch here with a friend recently. It's been a long time since I had hot pot so I was excited to try out this spot. The menu allows you multiple options for your broth, proteins, and veggie mix ins. We had the medium spicy chicken with several mix ins. When it came out it looked like a pretty dry pot with not a lot of broth. It wasn't until later that the server came along with a pitcher of more broth to pour into the pot. The broth was bold, fiery and medium spicy as requested. The chicken soaked in a lot of that flavorful broth. I enjoyed our veggie mix ins with everything. The price seemed slightly high for what we got but we were quite full when we were done and had leftovers to take home so I think it's more of a case of inflation rearing its ugly head on businesses. Side note for those that have cilantromisia, the pots typically come with a small pile of those green leafy abominations on top (at least ours did) but it's not finely chopped so you can easily pick it off if you forget to tell them to take it off your pot. Details: - In the 99 Ranch shopping center - Hours: Mon - Sun 11:00 AM - 09:30 PM

Yelp
Hot Pots are all the craze right now, and this place does a good one! Was visiting the Phoenix area in the winter and wanted to find a place to warm up. This was definitely the right place to do that. We ordered the Spicy Fish Hot Pot and the Beef Dry Pot. Both were delicious! Each had its own unique flavors and spices that complemented the generous portions of rice. The beef was nice and tender while the fish was firm yet not over cooked. Service was nice and pleasant and the ambiance of the restaurant, while not the largest space, was well laid out and inviting. Loved the modern feel of the restaurant in general. Definitely a place that I would come back to again!

Yelp
Please AVOID if you are a foodie and appreciate authentic and good tasting food. Inside- is clean and gives off an authentic Asian dining experience. Food was ordered and Given within 5-10 minutes! And that's the quality you get. And certainly makes you question if it's fresh or just frozen ready for the microwave/grille food. The Food- is below average in flavor and overall quality. I ordered the chowmein and sesame chicken. Both lacking flavor and chicken being with a soggy batter and tasting very gamey. Noodles lacking flavor and its texture and taste was of 2nd day leftover microwaveable meal. I am not a fan of Panda Express, but even that is of better quality and flavor. Don't be fooled by 4.0 rating. Not that 4.0 is a great rating but it doesn't meet that ratings expectation. This is a 2 star at best rating. This review is coming from a couple dining at several Asian restaurants across America.

Yelp
My wife and I love the spicy chicken hot pot with napa cabbage and mushrooms. The authenticity of the food that keeps us coming back here. They have variety of food now than before. My wife can't wait to try their beef noodle soup. Workers are friendly and the best part is very clean!

H Y.

Yelp
I really enjoyed their food. I forgot the exact name of what I got, but it was on their poster shown outside their restaurant. The braised beef stew with noodles? not sure if that's the name, but it was delicious. The broth was very good and rich. I know it's a chicken place, but had to try that. I recommend this place.

Yelp
Such a great rainy day spot when you need something warm and comforting! We got the Chicken Hot Pot with boneless chicken. There's definitely a good amount of chicken that comes in the pot. There's also some celery and garlic included in the Chicken Hot Pot. We ordered enoki mushrooms, vermicelli noodles, and Napa cabbage as our add-ons. Highly recommend these basic add-ons if you need some suggestions! Very flavorful and will be back again soon :)

Yelp
Chongqing was a fun place to eat. First we started off with a family size chicken pot. It was like a stew consistency. We opted for mild but i can see many would enjoy the spicier levels. About half way through, our waitress added some chicken broth and we added our selected add-ons like enoki mushrooms, cabbage and tofu. It was delicious and we appreciated everything not being overly salted. However, it would've been nice if they offered some simple optional sauces. Overall decent meal; would like to return to try their other pots. Enjoy. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This restaurant is extremely great in hospitality and quality of the food. I loved every moment of our dinner and felt very welcomed. Very clean and loved the atmosphere.

Yelp
Best hotpot I've had in a while. My friend and I ordered the pork intestine and chicken hotpot which was for 3-5 people, because they don't make it for two people for some reason unlike other hotpot items on the menu. Please add it for two person portion on the menu and I'll be back for sure. The large size hotpot is a bit much because its $57 just for the hotpot considering that all the add ons cost extra $1.50-$3.99. Another thing I liked about this place is that it was very clean. Perhaps because it's fairly new, but still. The decor isn't what you'd expect from a hotpot place and I liked that.

Erika L.

Yelp
June 6, came in at 8:30 and asked to dine in for two, server said they are only doing takeout and that they close at 9. But the window says big in white they close at 9:30? She said they started to close earlier bc it's been slow...30 min earlier ? lol. Not sure if it was true or just wanted to get out early, hopefully it's true bc that's money being lost for company.

Yelp
This spot has amazing food, we've tried almost all of their dishes and they're all tasty. Their signature Chicken Pot is amazing, and the Beef Brisket Stew is so soft, the meat just breaks apart. Highly recommend you come and try this place out and give it a chance.

Yelp
Great dry pot place, in Arizona we don't have many hotpot places and this is one of the few good ones. Highly recommend going! The prices are extremely friendly which is a huge plus!

Yelp
This is a good little restaurant next to the 99 Ranch Market in Chandler. The ambiance is relaxing and the food is good. I tried the spicy chicken that was on a whiteboard next to register and it was outstanding. I told my wife it was like the little places we had eaten at in Beijing and she readily agreed - be forewarned it is very spicy and it is pieces of chicken with bone. Unfortunately, what brought this place down to 4 stars was the dumpling soup. While the broth was flavorful and rich, it was salty and the dumplings were wrapped in a flour dumpling wrap instead of the traditional rice wrap. We will return, the menu has many dishes we cannot wait to try.

Yelp
When heading to 99 Ranch Market for grocery shopping, I decided to peep inside ChongQuing Chicken Pot to see what it was like. The owner was outside, greeted us, and encouraged us to try their food out. I'm glad I did. This restaurant has a creative concept with its chicken hot pots. First, the meal starts with a dry pot of chicken with a choice of spice level, like a typical entree eaten with rice. Then halfway through the meal, the server will offer to pour hot chicken broth into the pot. Next, after the burner gets turned on, the meal becomes a hot pot experience where add-ons are selected from the menu to get cooked in the pot. I added daikon, tofu, enoki mushroom, and fish balls. Overall it was a great experience, and the food tasted great. The menu was straightforward, with just the right amount of choices for the main entrees and add-ons.

Yelp
Ordered medium spicy chicken pot. It was so savory. You don't go there when you are really hungry because you are going to wait for the food. The relaxed ambience is good for eating with family or friends. Recommended.

Yelp
My wife and I have been doing our best in going to random hole in the wall places. Let me just say, this place did not disappoint. My wife and I entered, and right away we were greeted and sat immediately. The employees were very helpful in showing us what to get and what we should get for our first time The restaurant is very clean Friendly atmosphere Helpful to us when our little baby was unbearable Always checked on us to make sure we had everything we need and more. One waitress did everything to make sure we left happy and satisfied. I would recommend anyone new in town to come check out the spot.

Yelp
I thought the main star of the show was really stood out during my experience. I'm not a big spicy person so I got my chicken mild but the flavor of the chicken is great. I like how I could choose what side dishes I wanted with the meal. Examples of sides include bean curd, mushrooms, mung bean, napa and rice noodles. Since you add sides to your chicken pot, I like how one pot can feed two people very well. I've been here twice now and the service has always been really great here. I feel like they're attentive to our needs and the last time we went, the waitress offered us ice cream for dessert, which made my child very happy! I have also not have to wait too long to get my food either. Overall, I've had great experiences here and plan to continue to come here to eat.

Yelp
I went in to look at the menu after grocery shopping next door. There was a nice man who invited me to try the chicken hot pot, so I did as he seemed sincere and eager, and I wanted to try something new. That was the owner Mr Li. I ordered the boneless chickenpot for one. I added napa, enoki mushroom and tofu. They being you a cast iron pot with chicken, cloves of garlic, celery, and green and red peppers seasoned and smelling amazing. You start eating the "dry" chicken and then have the server add broth in and then add your mix-ins. It was delicious! I have had chongqing chicken only once before, and it is a flavor completely unique. This was better than the chongqing chicken I had once before. I can highly recommend this place. There is seating upstairs also. There are more exotic menu items, bur I only tried the chicken. I believe this is a franchise in China, and by the menu, I suspect it is authentic.

Yelp

Yelp
Attention people that live near Chandler and Dobson! Great find. The wait staff was awesome! He's more like an ambassador for them. Super friendly. Informational! He even gave us a tour of the building. They opened about 5 months ago but this is our first visit. I feel like they have been under advertised and overlooked. I didn't realize they had table pot cooking. They do most of the cooking in the back and bring the pot out steaming and keep it simmering on the table. They will even bring you extra broth if you like. They have large seating areas for big groups upstairs. They said to feel free to throw a party there if you want too. And that you don't even have to make reservations! We had to stop eating spicy food a few years ago because of gastric issues, so we are now officially whimps. But we ordered mild and it had a little heat. Not terrible. But I'm glad we didn't add heat.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was good but not the best. We ordered the medium spiced pork rib pot with some add on veggies and tofu. There's no numbing spice in here, at least I didn't taste any. We waited about 15-20 mins for our food to come out which is not right. The service is likely 1-2 star from the employees. They are often busy chatting with one another, gathering in a corner laughing away without really attending to customers' needs. The Asian boss was awesome though! I gave one extra star just because of his personal service. He told us we could request for extra broth, sauce for the soup base, and/or spice if we wanted more. Nice ambience and newly remodeled space which is nice. They also have a second floor space for more customers. Their service needs some serious improvement. Even the manager doesn't perform well...

Yelp
Recommend: It was okay, could be better. The chicken pot still have good flavor. Price: seems overpriced for the amount of food (portion) your getting. Service: Service was okay. Details: I was excited when I saw this place is open to dine. We ordered the chicken bone-in pot and the beef pot. We decided to get the small size for the chicken since we thought it might be too much food. We also got some add-ons that you can put in ur pot. We got 2 rolls of vermicelli, soft tofu, napa cabbage, and some bread ball thing. They were also small portions with the price of $2-8 per each add-on item. Majority of the items were $4-$5 range. We got our chicken pot first and I thought it had great strong flavor. I was more disappointed by the amount of meat on the chicken and the portion was pretty small. I knew we were getting bone in, but I wasn't expecting mostly bone and no meat. The food/ingredients that came in the pot almost filled up half way. Again this is for the small size pot. For the large beef pot, it was more disappointing to find out that it wasn't even half filled. It just seem like a large pot with very small amount of food. To me, it seemed kinda pointless to have a big pot but don't have enough food to fill it. I don't think the portion of the larger pot was much different than the smaller chicken pot. I posted some pictures but it is a bit hard to tell since I took it from above and not the side. This wouldn't be a big deal if the cost of the food isn't so expensive too. I feel like one large pot can be shared with two people but not completely full/satisfied. That's why add-on items are necessary. And rice isn't included but they have it for extra charge. So overall, everything was good except my biggest complaint about the portion size for the amount I'm paying for the food. The chicken pot in my opinion has great flavor, and I liked it more than the beef. The beef on the other hand, they were very tender but lack a bit of flavor like it was water downed a bit. Once the chicken pot soup starts to go down, they can add broth to ur pot and make it like a hot pot style. I think this place would be better if they have bigger portion of food for the price of their food or have a smaller pot so it doesn't look so 'empty' or 'not a full' pot.

Yelp
This place has been on chandler places to try for a while now and we were finally able to scratch it off today. Came by around 1pm for lunch, the rush soon followed us so we were super happy on our timing. Since it was our first time, we opted for the safe choice and ordered the namesake chicken hot pot. We were definitely NOT disappointed. The medium spice level was perfect to give you that spice you crave but it did not ruin your meal or make you uncomfortable (keep in mind, my friend and I have a higher spice preference than the average person so be cautious). The sauce that the chicken was cooked in had awesome flavor. We love that there were whole cloves of garlic in it. Our server did a nice job explaining their little unique intricacies differing them from your typical hotpot experience. Essentially the hotpot comes out dry first, allowing you to enjoy the dish with rice or by itself. Once you're ready to move on, the broth is added to turn the hotpot from dry to soup-based. At this time, if you had ordered any of the add-ons (veggies, other typical hotpot proteins such as fishcake, fishballs, squid, etc), you cook them in the soon to be boiling broth. The table had a built-in burner with easy buttons to control the temperature based on the stage of the meal. We opted to order enoki mushrooms, seaweed, Napa cabbage, quail eggs, and fish tofu. Everything cooked great in the broth. Once the broth was added, the original sauce from the dry pot deglazed, turning the broth even more flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and will be back to try a different pot.

Yelp
Food was really good but service was lacking. They forgot our drinks and we ordered fried rice but got steam rice instead. Serving sizes were really small. The waitress also was passive aggressive especially to another customer as she called them out as they were walking out for forgetting tips when they paid the cash. The man, I think the chef, was nice though.

Yelp
Good food and an interestingly different way to enjoy hot pot. The price is a bit high but the food flavor and freshness will not let you down. They recommend the chicken and it is very good. They are friendly and try to help explain the process but it would be helpful to first timer's if they added a hostess to outline the process. I have been back a few times now and can say that the pork is also very good as is the spicy stir fry option.

Yelp
First of all, our server/waitress is awesome! Even though we didn't like the food that much, but she was so nice, considering she's pregnant! She served my Hot Water first and she's very attentive! I ordered their seafood pot, but no cracker for the crab legs and it's just mostly fish slices my friend ordered chicken wings for appetizers and that was not to my liking, but she kind of liked it. The place is cozy and welcoming, maybe because the server is nice.

Yelp
I had their beef pot. The flavor profile of the stew was just right, however I felt the beef could be more tenderized...it was a bit on the chewy and tough side. Using a more tender cut would drastically improve the overall experience. The interior was designed well, however, the plastic water cup just didn't match...downscaling the dining experience. Not sure what the owner is striving for but I got mixed feelings about the atmosphere. Many area for improvement! But not bad at all!

Yelp
Such unique flavors! We've been driving by so often, we decided to stop and try this place. The staff was very nice and helped us order. We had two dishes the chicken and seafood. They were both very delicious and much more food then we expected. You really can share with just one! The cuisine is spicy and mild was hot for me! So if you like spicy food, this is a good place to stop by!

Yelp
So I totally forgot to take a picture when the food came. The food was amazing. The flavors were full robust, and everything was just perfect. The Kung pow chicken with exactly that spicy chicken so many places put more vegetables than chicken, but not here the chicken pot is designed for two people, but 3 to 4 could've easily eating out of it. The service from the staff was great. They were well-informed and helped us through the menu. It was a quiet atmosphere only a few tables were seated, which was surprising, considering how good the food was certainly be back and honestly not sure I wanna try anything else as our selections were definitely good.

Yelp
We came here as we were new to town and were excited to find a ChongQiong chicken pot place in town. The place was not that crowded and we sat there for about 20 mins without anyone asking for drinks let alone for any orders, although the staff did greet us when we came in. There were a couple of other tables without any attention as I noticed. The restaurant seemed to be really short staffed and we left without eating. Definitely not a pleasant experience.

Yelp
We came here hoping for some tasty hot pot with nice mala flavor, and that's pretty much what we got! We ordered the instant spicy steam pot with extra sweet potato noodles, and some kung pao chicken to go. The hot pot wasn't what we were expecting, but it was really good nonetheless. I was thinking it'd be more of a soupy style where you have a bowl and just scoop broth and meat into it, but the cooking liquid from these pots really isn't made to be consumed like a broth, I don't think? At any rate, it was really good- the sweet potato noodles weren't what I was expecting- I thought they'd be a thinner gray noodle that I've gotten in other hot pots, but these were about 6 inches long and were really fat. At any rate, they were really tasty with a great chewy consistency, so I wasn't mad that it wasn't what I was hoping for. The flavor was great- a nice spice that wasn't overpowering but definitely crept up and gave me a little neck sweat. I don't think I'd specifically order this pot again, but I'm really interested to see what their chicken pot is like. Our kung pao chicken came out, and it was *EXACTLY* what I was hoping for. A pleasant spicy with a generous helping of Szechuan peppercorns for that mala tongue-fuzz experience. I hope this place does well- it's a bit niche and I think that people who've had hot pots elsewhere might be disappointed when they come here, but their food is really great and stands on its own merits!

Yelp
Service is super slow ! They only have 2 people working, looks like the guy is the cook whom also serves. And the woman disappeared after couple mins. I had to refill water myself and refilled the soup myself! The chicken was over cooked. All the meat fell off the bones and all the meat became smushy! Took us almost 2 hour just to eat lunch !!!!

Yelp
I've been here twice. My first experience was with a friend and Manny was our waiter. I really have to commend Manny for his service, he was personable, explained the menu and very attentive. He gave us a tour of the place and to our surprise, the place is huge and has a whole second story. During our visit, I saw Manny trying to bring customers in by engaging with people out in front of the restaurant, and that's totally commendable. Food-wise, we had the boneless chicken pot for two and it was plentiful, the broth is delicious but can be a little salty if eaten without rice (rice is optional and costs extra if you'd like some, but traditionally, I would want to have some rice accompanied). My second experience was with my wife and three kids. Manny wasn't working and there were two younger people working there. We ordered the pork ribs pot and I was disappointed that the broth is the same broth as the chicken, it seems their selections are different meat in the same broth. Service wasn't as good as the first, they had two people running but seemed very inexperienced and inefficient. Overall, I liked the food but seems like once you had one, the rest are just the same with different proteins. Addons seem to be either vegetables or frozen meat that you can add to your pot. Service is great if Manny can train some people. More beer selections would be nice.

Yelp
The food was excellent only to be done by the service we received. It was our first time and she explained the dishes and how everything was done with the burner at the table. A must try!!!!

Yelp
Definitely give the place a try and ask Manny for the tour, there's more to what you see when you enter the door. We had the Boneless chicken pot, and you get more for your money without having to work too hard to eat. We will visit again in the future and try the other dishes! #Manny4Manager

Yelp
I was so surprised to find this restaurant in Chandler since there's one in Houston Chinatown as well with the exact same name so I'm guessing it's probably a chain. I love going to the one in Houston so I thought I'd try this one out with my family. Going to both, it's impossible not to compare the two but I definitely think the one in Houston is just a bit better. The restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating but quite nicely decorated. We came on a Saturday for dinner and it was pretty empty initially (probably since it's a new restaurant) but more people began to trickle in as we ate. We ordered 2 pots - the bone-in chicken pot and Chinese Sauerkraut Fish pot - as well as some add in's including enoki mushrooms, lettuce, napa cabbage, and bean curd. I think the owner also talked with us, recommending pots for us to try and was very nice/helpful. He said that we should definitely get the chicken pot if this was our first time in, which is why we ordered that pot but honestly I think I liked the Sauerkraut fish pot better. The chicken pot was good but not nearly as good as the one in Houston, which I think is more flavorful/spicy and tastes more like chongqing chicken, while the chicken pot here here was slightly less flavorful and actually had a tinge of sweetness (maybe a bit Americanized?). It was still not bad but just different. I really liked the Sauerkraut Fish pot since I think that was more authentic as well with pickled vegetables and the broth was delicious. Another thing is I feel it's a little confusing how this place is supposed to work. In the Houston location, you get your chicken pot, eat most of what's in your pot, and then the waiters come to add in broth almost all the way to the top so it turns into a hot pot. The broth is usually a little bit lighter and you make your own sauce at a sauce station. However, they don't have a sauce station here and the broth they add is I think the same flavor as the chicken pot, so everything starts to taste the same. Also the waiter seemed a little confused and reluctant too about adding too much broth. Overall, this restaurant is not bad but I think they would benefit from explaining a little bit better how the hot pot is supposed to work and maybe having a sauce station as well.

Yelp
The flavor is amazing, and there are so many options! The atmosphere is really nice and newly remodeled as well. Highly recommend and I'll be back again!

Yelp
The chicken soup is delicious and very flavorful however, I would go with the boneless. Normally we like bone-in but the bones are so tiny and you get more of your moneys worth with the boneless. The pot for 2 can feed 3-4 people easily. However, the pricing for the vegetables are very expensive especially for something that they don't give a lot of. I've been here 2 times and you can tell that they needed help with the service side of things. The first time we had the owners son. He wasn't bad, you can just tell that he is very inexperienced and has a lot to learn. The 2nd time I came in, we had Manny and he is exactly what they need here. Manny is amazing and really interacts with the customers, remembers faces and knows his way through the food industry. Manny gave us a tour, was funny, and gave great recommendations. Our 2nd time being there was much better service wise and I'm voting for #manny4manager
