Denver’s Best Chinese Restaurants | Eater Denver

"A few noodle and rice dishes round out the small menu at this fast-casual sensation downtown, but it’s really all about the instantly famous soup dumplings; plump, juicy, golden-bottomed potstickers; and silken-skinned water-fried bao. Get the latter stuffed with shrimp, pork, and chive and throw in an order of the refreshing, garlicky wood-ear mushrooms for good measure." - Ruth Tobias

Google
We were in the area looking for food and decided to try Chopstickers after seeing decent reviews on Google. Overall, it’s not bad, but it didn’t impress us enough to become a repeat spot. We ordered the beef noodle soup. The noodles were slippery and bouncy, and the broth was pretty flavorful. However the beef was not tender at all and quite dry, which was disappointing. We also had the dan dan noodles but the peanut flavor was very light, and in my opinion, not very authentic compared to traditional dan dan noodles. One dish that really stood out was the woodear mushroom appetizer. It was surprisingly good—each piece was well coated with garlic, chili sauce. It was very flavorful, came in a large portion, and was reasonably priced. This was easily the best dish we had and something I would highly recommend as an appetizer. We also ordered the water-fried bao. The bottom of the bao was nicely browned and crispy, while the bao itself was very soft. The meat filling was a bit small and slightly on the dry side (I’ve had juicier versions elsewhere), but it was still tasty overall. In general, this is a decent place if you’re craving noodles and bao.

Google
Came to chopstickers with my family, there was 6 of us and it was amazing!! We tried the beef noodle soup, potstickers, bao, and pork belly buns. Everything was great!! The restaurant is a little small so I would call in advance to see if there’s space. If we were from Denver, this would be a place we would visit all the time. Check it out and you won’t be disappointed!

Google
I come here all the time for lunch. I like their dumplings, and their pork belly and rice the best. If you are in town for a convention or something, this is a perfect spot just walking distance away. Staff is always friendly and kind, and the food is amazing!

Google
Pretty tasty food! I got the steamed pork buns and they are tasty. I also got the peach Bobba tea and its a banger. They also were super nice about me ordering my food on the wrong location. I called them and explained the issue, and they immediately told me to not worry, that they would send my order to the right location, which they did.

Google
Chopstickers provided a truly delicious meal for us tonight. The soup dumplings were outrageously good! The beef noodle soups, pork fried rice, and pork potstickers were perfect too. The best of all was the kindness in the service we received from the staff. The warm atmosphere of the restaurant environment was equally delightful, even though we only got takeout tonight. Next time we will dine in to enjoy this with the appreciation it deserves! We loved it.

Google
I recommend this place. It's a good amount and taste for the price. noodle is a bowl located in the upper right corner of the image. The middle is beef noodle soup, and the left is pork belly noodle soup.

Google
The prices are great. They charge the service fee on the bill but found later that they had a notice stating it can be removed. The foods are nice.

Google
The owner is seriously the nicest! The beef noodles are AMAZING ! Super authentic and flavorful. Highly recommend everyone to come try it!

Yelp
We love dumplings and Chopstickers had a good Yelp rating and was a short walk from our hotel. Our party of four was hungry and ordered: Pork Water Fried Bao $11.49 Soup Dumplings $11.99 Pork Belly Bun $8.99 Edamame $4.99 Chicken Potsticker $10.99 Japanese Kid Soda $3.80 Fountain Drink $2.00 Total with tax and tip: $ 61.03 I was impressed! The potstickers were great, nicely fried and tasty! The soup dumplings arrived piping hot (out waitress warned us to wait a few minutes before eating these). They were hot and delicious. I enjoyed all of these and would reorder them any time. We think Chopstickers provides tasty food at very good prices. I look forward to a return visit.

Yelp
Chopstickers offers a solid spot for dumpling lovers in Denver, and I had a pretty good experience overall. The soup dumplings were the highlight of my meal--delicate wrappers and filled with plenty of flavorful broth. Although the flavor leaned a bit heavy on the white pepper, the dumplings were well-crafted and enjoyable. I also tried the beef noodle soup, and while the beef was tender and the noodles cooked perfectly, the broth was a bit on the mild side for my taste. That said, it still made for a hearty lunch option. It's a smaller space and I came during the lunch rush and it was bustling. What really stood out was the quick service, especially during the lunch rush. Even with a packed house, the food arrived promptly, which was much appreciated when I was on a tight schedule. Overall, Chopstickers offers great value, with fresh, handmade dumplings and fast service. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you're craving dumplings during a busy lunch break.

Yelp
We were expecting cheap Chinese food, but it was better than we expected. The storefront sign looked like Subway (yellow & white). Ordered all pork dishes: *Potstickers (10) - burnt bottom *Steamed Bao (8) - pillowy soft outside with just a ball of pork inside *Soup Dumplings (8) - most flavorful of all the dishes *Buns (3) - pork belly was dry and stiff You order at the register and then they bring the food to your table. There was an attempt to make the interior nice, but it's a hodgepodge of different styles. Restrooms are strangely far from the dining area.

Yelp
Had a break and decided to walk over to this place to get a bite in before returning to work. The place is nice and casual. The service was decent and staff was nice. Their menu is displayed, make your order(s), pay, take a table number if dining in, and they bring out your food. I didn't wait too long. My order of the pork belly buns came out first. They were decent and tender. Then, the soup dumplings. I liked the thickness of the dumpling wrap but I did not like the broth of the dumpling. It was more on the saltier side and the broth was a little thick. I couldn't manage to finish them. Overall, the presentation was nice. I have had better pork belly buns and soup dumplings. This place is not for me but maybe for others.

Yelp
Chopstickers was a quick stop for me and my girlfriend before heading to meow wolf. Honestly a great stop for a quick bite and the prices were great. It's more of a grab and go spot that we don't have similar here in NY. Only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is the bao buns could've had more meat in it and it was super doughy. Everything else was good and would still recommend stopping here.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was quick and friendly and had decent portions for the price. This was a great quick meal and very tasty :)

Yelp
Small shop with authentic taste! Located in downtown, there is a parking garage nearly next door that starts at $7. Super convenient! Walking in, you seat yourself and then get in line to order at the counter. Everything was reasonably priced, except maybe the rainbow rice. It was a very small bowl for $11. But we were able to share everything we ordered as it is family style Food: the water fried shrimp dumplings were my least favorite. The taste was just too strong for me but it wasn't terrible so give it a try! Bao buns were 3 for $8!! I'll order them every time with a bit more sauce. Excellent pork portion for the price The pork water fried dumpling was the best! A definite must order. Soft dewy outside and tender meatball inside Though the rainbow rice was pricy, it was absolutely delicious! All in all, I'd like to go back and try the other menu items Pork dumpling

Yelp
Ambiance: cozy Asian themed restaurant with two person tables. There are bigger tables but mainly two. The service is fast and well mannered. They know what food is good so you can ask them about recommendations. The pot stickers were delicious, perfectly cooked with the perfect sear. The Dan Dan noodles are their most ordered item. It is jam packed with flavor so if you order it be prepared for a burst of flavor
google avatar

Tiffany F.

Yelp
I am disappointed since the soup dumplings and chicken potstickers had such an awesome flavor and I can tell the effort that went into the cooking. However, my reason for a negative review is due to the horrific bathroom, the nastiest smelling bathroom I that I couldn't even go inside it. You could smell feces the moment you walk to the back which is not a smell you want prior to eating. When I told the employee, no one went to the back to check and blamed the other business they share the bathroom with. But those are literally your bathrooms too? It was very difficult to enjoy my food after that.

Yelp
Ordering at the counter was easy. They give you a table number and bring the food to you. I got soup dumplings and pork belly buns. Soup dumplings were decent (but I also have high standards, because I've had better, e.g. Din Tai Fung, of course, I don't expect that level of excellence here). Pork belly were ok. Honestly my husband's homemade ones were better. Verdict: good enough if you are craving Chinese street food and don't want to sit down at a formal restaurant. Good for eating alone but also with a group.

Yelp
Service was fast. Order at the counter and grab a seat. They'll bring the food to you. Very casual and cozy vibes. We grabbed a small taster lunch and split beef potstickers, shrimp chive water fried Bao and soup dumpling amongst 3 people and it was plenty of food. Beef potstickers were hefty and moist. A little to heavy/oil for me but still very good. The soup dumplings kind of stuck on the edged to each other and would tear open so we lost a lot of the soup. My favorite was the shrimp chive water fried bao. The bottom was crispy, the dough was fluffy and the chives were refreshing and flavorful. I would come back for these!
google avatar

Bobbi A.

Yelp
I am addicted to this place. Ha. Their potstickers are so delicious, and the Pork Belly Bao buns are to die for. I usually get it to go on my way home. :) Small place, but they do have some seating. They were out of buns today, or I would have taken a photo of those as well.
google avatar

Jacqueline J.

Yelp
The dan-dan noodles were so good! It felt like I was eating a home-cooked chinese meal at someone's house. The gravy that mixes is the best. I ordered mine less spicy and it was perfect.
google avatar

LeeAnn M.

Yelp
Such a great spot for a quick bite! Everything was made fresh and came out decently quick. We are from out of town but wanted some food before grabbing drinks and this was perfect. A little order up from type restaurant with a small selection of noodles and dim sum. Wish I had taken photos but everything was too good!
google avatar

Desiree D.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch. Nothing fancy but clean inside. Easy to order at the counter and then are given a number where they bring your food out to you. Soup dumplings were decent. Not a huge amount of broth and the broth was just lukewarm which was disappointing. The pork gyoza was ok. Needed a sauce. Good option for fast casual in the city center.
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Fast casual restaurant specializing in potstickers, dumplings, and bao buns. Lots of indoor seating. When dining in, you order at the counter, then they bus it to your table. It's self-seating but they give you a small placard with a number on it so they know where to send the food.
google avatar

Yelp
Oooh loved this spot for bao and buns. The prices were so reasonable for the amount of food we got, and everything tasted delicious and freshly made. It's more of a grab and go spot, so while some other restaurants may have more of a vibe, this one had the quantity of food our full day of walking required. We got the pork belly buns, pork water fried bao, beef potstickers and the dan dan noodles. The pork belly buns and beef potstickers were demolished. The pork bao was also really good - the potstickers were just slightly tastier. The dan dan noodles were ok - not my favorite and I think this place shines with the bao so go for that. Service was pretty quick for how slammed they were - and our order was perfect.

Yelp
The favorite meal I dreamt of had the best of the best . The service staff was very friendly and thorough. This was. Not a crowded place at 5:pm and the ambiance was fun and happy. The food itself was authentic and I felt so perfectly stir fried. The umami and depth of flavors from the wok was so Asian forward. I highly recommend everything we tried especially the rainbow fried rice, the Dan Dan noodles, and the soup dumplings. Delicious

Yelp
This place is fantastic! I'm a big fan of dim sum, but a lot of times, you have to go out into the suburbs to find a good restaurant. They have one right here in downtown Denver!
google avatar

Krystal M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch. Ordered some soup dumplings and the Pork Belly Noodle Soup. The soup had really great flavor and the noodles were pleasantly chewy. The soup dumplings were good and hot, maybe not as good as higher end dumpling joints, but was still good. Cozy and simple.
google avatar

Lucinda R.

Yelp
Great Asian food and good location. We Loved the potstickers and rainbow rice. The soups were very good as well. It's clean and they play nice music.
google avatar

Kassie L.

Yelp
Here's where I admit I've never had dim sum before though I've had bao as part of duck service . So it possible this was just not for me, but here's my take. I ordered take out through grub hub. Not sure if they're having trouble with people stealing food but I was rather rudely asked to show my order confirmation on my phone--so be ready for that. I got the shrimp chive steamed bao. The bun was thick and spongey and generally yummy. The chili oil sauce was tasty. The filling was a hard no for me. Mostly chives, maybe one or two small pieces of shrimp per bun. But the flavor was just overpowering--like chewing a raw clove of garlic. I have no point of reference to know if this is normal but I couldn't eat it.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Gotta thank the friends I've met through Yelp Elite for introducing me to this spot. I'm not sure that I would've ventured into downtown for it otherwise -- and I would've missed out on a delicious and tasty Asian take-out spot. Yes, this spot has plenty of indoor seating. Our group of 5 was very easily able to snag a table, and I really liked that they had both high tops and low tops. It felt like there was flexibility for all group sizes to snag seats. And while I'd dine in, I think that this food also works really well for take-out. Now onto the food! Which came out hot and tasty. We got a little of everything -- edamame, pork potstickers, soup dumplings, water fried pork baos, beef and pork buns, dan dan noodles and veggie rainbow rice. While the dishes (especially the potstickers and dan dan noodles) were all yummy, I did feel like there was too much dough in the baos and buns. I would've also loved more greens, but that may be my stuffed stomach wishing for a little freshness. Ultimately, those last two thoughts are my personal preferences because I highly recommend that you discover this little spot yourself. It was a delightful, tasty menu at the right price point and speed.

Mary Jeneverre S.

Yelp
The food is delicious. I am trying everything at different visits. I brought my co worker and she loved it. Seating is tight - I wish there was more room. The service is on spot.

Brianna L.

Yelp
Honestly so bomb. The Xiao Long Bao are a must have, they are comparable to Ding Tai Fung's Soup Dumplings. I'm coming back to Denver just for these soup dumplings
google avatar

Ruba A.

Yelp
The soup dumplings were to die for, the flavor, the temperature, the consistency was amazing. The beef noodle soup was so flavorful with just a hint of spice and works so well with the soup dumpling too if you wanna get a lil freaky with your meal... the portions are shareable and great . Service with a smile and such a calm relaxing environment. Love the music choices too. Definitely a must try !!!!! I will be back !!!!

M H.

Yelp
Great food good service ... clean restaurant. Easy walk to it. Looks like the owner is there working.

Yelp
In search of something quick, delicious and tasty we stumbled upon this new business in d/t Denver. Everything we ordered met the three things we were looking for! We tried the following: Rice with Pork Belly Pork Belly Buns Steamed Pork Bao Beef Potstickers Location: 1617 A California St. Denver, CO. Order, pay, you'll be given a number. Find your table and your food will be brought to your table.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by to have some soup dumplings and beef noodle soup. Service is prompt. Vibes are great, fast casual joint. The soup dumplings have such a delicious flavor! The beff noodle soup is what the doctor ordered on the first day of snow here in Denver. Great food no frills perfect execution.
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
Dan Dan noodles were flavorful and generously portioned. I prefers the pan fried buns over the beef potstickers. Too bad they didn't have soup dumplings available when I visited. Overall decent spot for noodles and dumplings.
google avatar

Sunu S.

Yelp
I absolutely had a blast at this place. Chopstickers delivers an authentic experience and I couldn't ask for more. THE BAO: Just incredible. The pan fried baos are cooked to perfection. The breading is not too bready and gives away at a perfect texture. The meat on the inside is seasoned very well and the taste is perfect. SOUP DUMPLINGS: Sometimes there is only a little soup inside soup dumplings, however, this place knew what it was doing but supplying a great amount of soup on the inside. The taste is one again fantastic and the meat is perfect. The texture gives you a nice and giving bite while the flavors rush into your mouth. PORTION SIZES: You will definitely be full with a single order of bao. They give you generous portions and so not shy away from giving you a perfect experience. I will be coming here again as this spot deserves much praise. Not only is it affordable, it also delivers an incredible experience from the service, setting, and most importantly the authenticity of the food.

Yelp
Convenient walking distance from the Convention Center. Had high review so we decided to give it a try. The menu is simple, service was quick, restaurant is cleaned, food was hot and fresh. We ordered an order of pan-fried pork dumplings, edamame, and beef noodle soup. We enjoyed all the items and glad service was quick!
google avatar

J. L.

Yelp
I ordered Dan Dan noodles and soup dumplings. They arrived hot and were flavorful. Delivery was fast, and courteous. Prices are reasonable.
google avatar

Jacqueline E.

Yelp
This restaurant was very good even though the menu selection was small! We gave the mushroom (salad?) appetizer and as someone who is avid about not eating mushrooms I was pleasantly surprised. I've never had soup dumplings before but I was not disappointed when eating these! I also ordered their rainbow rice but that wasn't my cup of tea! Overall would come here again
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for ages and we were going to the convention center so perfect time! We got the beef noodle soup without vegetables for the picky kid and he loved the noodles. The water bao were different than I expected but I really liked them, the bottom is crispy but then the rest is soft. The restaurant has a typical downtown refurbished vibe. The servers were nice. It's a casual place which I like. I would love to come back.
google avatar

Lexi B.

Yelp
I stopped in here for a quick bite to eat and it surely delivered! The staff was polite when I ordered, the restaurant itself was clean and my meal came prepared to perfection and was super tasty. I would definitely return on another chilly afternoon to re-order the soup dumplings.
google avatar

Ben D.

Yelp
Food was good, fast, and reasonably priced. We had soup dumplings, dandan noodles and Woodear mushrooms. Everything came out as it was ready.
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
Q Soup dumplings are one of my favorite dishes so when I saw this place was walking distance I had to stop by. It's a cute little spot, they were quick to bring out my food and I ate them all. Super yummy.
google avatar

Yoshikage K.

Yelp
Ordered their shrimp chive steamed baos for lunch in store, waited for 45 minutes, and found them tasted good. The place is quite small but suitable if you like (or don't mind) sharing table with others in close proximity. Learned the lesson the next lunch by ordering the dan-dan noodle online ahead of time, and found it tasty as well.
google avatar

Tessa L.

Yelp
Found this spot here on yelp with some good reviews and came in on a rainy Monday evening. We ordered rainbow fried rice, beef noodle soup and the pork pot stickers. The fried rice and pot stickers was just ok but the beef soup tasted like something else, its on the sour side.
google avatar

Daisy G.

Yelp
So great for lunch downtown! Love the buns and the water fried bao. Expect about a 15 minute wait if you order when you arrive on weekdays during lunch time - its super popular!

Fernando G.

Yelp
Delicious and affordable! We had the baos and noodles, really yummy. A nice find in downtown Denver!
google avatar

Ben T.

Yelp
The food was ok-good. Made to order, so it was fresh. It wasn't too busy so the service was not long. The plates came out as they were ready. I might have over ordered so at the end I was not able to finish all my meal. Interesting decore with a simple ambient feel. I'll place it at better than fast food, casual and reasonable.

Olivia P.

Yelp
Went here two days in a row while attending a conference close by. They have good vegan options and the food tastes authentic and is very reasonably priced. Loved the seaweed salad. It tasted different than the regular bright green wakame salad and I appreciated that flavor.
google avatar

Kim L.

Yelp
I ordered the Vegan buns expecting them to be filled with either some substantial vegetables or tofu- what I got was plain old cucumber slices and shredded iceberg lettuce with a little hoisin so disappointed
google avatar

Ed D.

Yelp
Came here because of the Yelp reviews. Wanted to like this place but the food was just ok. We ordered the soup dumplings, rainbow fried rice and pork belly buns. The taste for 3 were just ok. For the pork belly buns, I knew there would be fat but half of the meat in each bun was fat. Prices were ok. Service was good. The restaurant was clean and had nice decor.
google avatar

Andreea G.

Yelp
Food was delicious and packed with flavor. Sometimes I'm a little hesitant at trying these places out because I'm not sure how flavorful they are. This place definitely exceeded my expectations. Service was great as well. Also, try out the herbal tea!
google avatar

Alice Z.

Yelp
Yum. Always looking for a new soup dumpling place and this is one of the best in Denver. A lot of soup, it didn't break easily, and solid flavor. also tried the beef noodle soup which was delicious on a cold day. I do think it's a bit overpriced though. I like that it's quick service for when you're on a time crunch, but ambience wasn't my favorite (tables are tight and stools are not super comfortable) but overall would still come back if I'm in the area because food is delicious
google avatar

Paulene L.

Yelp
Coming for California I have high hopes for this restaurant. I was thrilled to see that this restaurant was open on New Year's Day and it had high reviews on yelp and Grubhub/uber eats. The inside is very well decorated with plenty of chairs. My friends and I ordered the soup dumplings. Granted we didn't expect it to taste like din tai fung but we noticed the dumplings were consistent. My friends dumplings were hard while mine was very mushy. I also ordered the pork belly noodle soup. It was fine but the bok choy tasted really off too. I ordered the wood ear mushrooms. I enjoyed it but would have preferred to mix it around more as it was mostly garlic. One thing that made my friends really upset is that my friend swears she ordered beef noodle soup but the employee rang her up for pork belly noodle soup. We were confused when we received another pork belly noodle soup. We told the employee about the mix up and she brought out the receipt. It just became awkward because she wasn't going to change my friends order cause it was already made. We just stared at each other in silence until I told her it's okay we will just eat it. We didn't end up eating it. The highlight of my day was drinking the canned herbal tea as it was very nostalgic!
