"While a little pricey, Chotto has some kick*ss skewers, solid ramen, and most importantly, delicious bacon-wrapped mochi. It’s also never too crowded, so it’s easy to pop in without a wait or reservation. It’s our favorite Japanese restaurant in the area." - Taylor Abrams

Discovered this great spot and had a great time. Sitting at the bar allowed us to chat with the manager and other guests. The food was amazing (the uni and the bacon Machi !!!) and I highly recommend the sake flights!

Good spot for a casual weekday happy hour get-together. They have small plates that are very affordable and there is no wait. The service is decent. They also have ramen that sounded good, but since it wasn't on the happy hour menu, I didn't try it. I would come back if I was in the mood for Japanese and wanted a no-fuss meal.

We came here with a friend with a gluten intolerance and were so happy to see that there was a specific gluten free menu, which had many of the same items as the regular menu. That alone was really nice, because we got to share items with our friend when we normally would have to split things up. I enjoyed all the food we got, though my favorite was probably the bacon mochi. The beer selection was also pretty interesting - they had some Hitachino beers on tap that I don't normally see other places. The only downside was that their dessert selection was all made with gluten, so we couldn't get something to share (and ended up getting ice cream somewhere else).

Ramen broth is clean, creamy and delicious. Noodles cooked perfectly. Loved the bacon mochi and the chicken livers were fresh, but unsurprising. Service mediocre, ambiance not my favorite but fine. Def worth a visit.

We have been in San Francisco for a week and have had some good food, but this is by far the best. I love the small, extremely tasty plates of food. It really suits the way I like to eat, getting to taste a variety of flavours and cooking methods all done to perfection. I cannot recommend this place more highly. We will be back before we go home.

My first time. Excellent food, ambiance. The grilled calamari is probably the best I've had. I'd like to get "more acquainted" with the Sake list! It's actually not "pricey" - you pretty much go at your own pace. If you want to explore more, then its not a "free refill". I'm a foodie, so there....

This is a good izakaya place. The food was really good, albeit a bit pricey. It's a great place to go with a group of friends so you may order many different dishes and sample lots of different things. My favorite dish is the bacon mochi, and other favorites are the ramen and uni hotate. I didn't care for the rice ball. The rice was pretty dry and didn't have a good texture.
