This place is take out only. They take cash and debit/credit cards. Prices are reasonable, and you get a good portion of food. The pork fried rice 🍚 was hella good! 😋 I also enjoyed the sweet and sour pork.

I have gone through multiple restaurants, but nothing compares to chow to go. It is immaculate, it feels like a kiss on the cheek, it taste like it was blessed by God himself. Amen 🙏 - satisfied customer number 1 When I eat this food it tastes as if the chefs were actually angels sent by God himself to satisfy and serve all their costumers. I whole heartedly believe this food could bring world peace if everyone on earth took a bite from this absolutely beautiful, textures, flavorful, warm, delicate, delicious heavenly excuse for food. This food makes me want to donate to charity, this food makes me want to call my mom and tell her I love her, this food gives me a whole other perspective on life. It really makes you believe that your dreams are possible and gives you hope for the future. This food makes me thank God for the dirt that grew the rice and brócoli and the wheat that made the bread that made these noodles and finally the plastic that made the styrofoam containers that hold the food to be then delivered to my plate and then my mouth. I hope and pray that whoever made this food have a golden throne waiting for them at the gates of heaven. Please try this restaurant - Satisfied Number two Chow to go, where do I even start. In my darkest hour of need, you were there waiting for me. I reached my arm out in desperation and you pulled me out of the slums where I was forced to eat tv dinners and cockroaches. You gave my life meaning. When I put that very first piece of chicken in my mouth, I felt as though I reached nirvana. My face filled with joy and my eyes seen color like never before. Food, I thought I knew it all, but your food showed me to another world beyond what the mind can comprehend. If I were to die this very moment, my last words to anyone would be, “eat chow to go, and you will become the ultimate life form.” Thank you for blessing me with this exquisite delicacy. - satisfied customer number 3

Google
This Chinese restaurant had the best garlic fried chicken I ever had since this other Chinese restaurant in Tracy closed down because the owners were retiring. I got a combination plate A3 it comes with one piece of garlic fried chicken, sweet sour pork, pork fried rice and pork Chow Mein All for $7 but plus taxes it comes up to around $8 and some change. The lady is very nice and it looks like her husband that is the cook and he cooks the food when ordered!!! It'S a drive but when I want that delicious garlic fried chicken I'll make the drive!!!

Google
If your looking for the best bang for your buck look no further than. If you’re looking for fresh hot food look no further. If your looking for a place to call in your order to pick up, yea it’s not gonna happen you’re just going to have to drive down and wait in line like the rest of us to order but you won’t be disappointed .

Google
I had the house wonton soup, it was delicious. Fair enough prices. Looks a little run down but makes up for it with good flavors.

Google
I can not lie, she was kinda rude to me and the food was okay. Furthermore, I left feeling I should have drove a little further down the road to the Food 4 Less Chinese deli.

Mike Allen

Google
Take out only. Good Chinese food. Reasonable prices. Friendly service.

Rico Morales (Bassamatic)

Google
Some really good Chinese food here for such a small place. Wendy always greets you & takes your order quickly. Lunch specials are excellent in taste & price. Love to order chicken noodle with wantons soup in the winter so delicious! Generous portions & very reasonable prices.

Yelp
I placed an order for lunch because I didn't pack my own as I usually do and was craving Chinese food so I decided to spoil myself, however I wanted to try something new! I found this place online, called, placed my order. Upon driving up... I was not happy, it was the corner spot of the lot, there's no seating inside, you walk in and you can't see the food be made, they have this table blocking the way to get inside the rest of the building which is just empty... The place honestly looks shut down. I hate that I couldn't see anywhere in the back where the food was being cooked, the lady kept yelling at the man in the back. She wasn't too welcoming when I walked in either. Then, I pay, tip $8. She tells me it'll be a 10 min wait, I walk around the lot.. get back, and I ask for 1 hot oil and she's going to say "we charge for that, that'll be $1.50!" I say okay, hand her my card and then she says "$6 minimum or a 75 cent charge." Like lady? I tipped $8 on a 14 meal..... can I just have the hot oil at this point. So I said that's fine, she charged me and I went on my way. Sadly, I won't be returning. Not only because ambience and staff, but food wasn't too hot either, super under seasoned and that's saying a lot because I'm on a kidney friendly diet for the MOST part lol.

Yelp
First Time experience at Chow To Go after craving Chinese Food & reading the reviews. This was a great standard American-Chinese restaurant with many of the classics. Since I don't eat meat, I tried the Schezuan Tofu off of their lunch combination menu and ordered some fried zucchini because it sounded super delicious (It was!). Portions are awesome for the price and honestly the taste was really good as well! The lady working at the front was very kind and gave me some time to look at the menu before helping me out. There is no where to sit, but I highly reccomend stopping by if you're looking to get some food to-go for the next family take out night!

Yelp
Got food here on 2/28/24 on a Wednesday evening. I ordered 4 dishes and the total was $35. I feel like that is a very great deal. The food was delicious and the portions is generous. I enjoyed the beef broccoli and orange chicken. The wonton soup was generous with big pieces of shrimp. Just please be patient with them since they're just 2 people working together. My food was ready in 20 mins since there was a line.

Yelp
Don't know where to start but definitely this is a great place to get some delicious Chinese food to go, got here lady gave me a good service no rush on putting order, I order pork fried rice, house chow mien and garlic chicken all came up about $30 with tips and it's a plus for filling up the plate can feed up to two or more people. Inside is compact due to the dining area close. take out only. I waited less then 15 min for fresh food was worth it. Best to call ahead of time if you not a patience person cause their food is flavorful from my experience.will return again soon.

Sarah F.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Their fried prawns melt in your mouth, the chow mein and fried rice are the best...and don't get me started on the garlic chicken! Beyond yummy here guys! The service is excellent and fast. They're only a take out place, but I can see why...if they weren't, the restaurant would be packed constantly and probably put others out of business. Seriously guys you have to check this place out! I promise you won't be disappointed!

Bryan S.

Yelp
A hidden gem, Mom and Pop shop where you can good food with good portion for reasonable price. You can never go wrong with this place when craving Chinese food.
google avatar

Jessie B.

Yelp
Don't let the poor appearance sway your decision. Good was yummy and prices were pretty good.

Yelp
Service is good, the lady upfront is really nice. She always asks how my day is and is super friendly.Me and my family love the food. When it was on alpine in the late 90z I would always go there, then one day they were gone.Fast forward to 2022 I just happened to pass by there restaurant/deli and was like AWWWW shiznit I gotta get me a combo plate,so I did and I'm glad I did.I recommend them.

Margaret F.

Yelp
At first you think it's such a small place with no seating, but then you try the food and it's not bad. I would recommend the honey walnut shrimp and wor won ton soup. Yummy! The lovely couple that works so hard to service all of their customers are very accommodating. I would recommend them and try more of their dishes. The house chow fun is also yummy.
google avatar

Yelp
Unquestionably, THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN STOCKTON, I've tried the other "so called" best restaurant they don't even come close to Chow To Go.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Great food, been going here 6 yrs. Always great customer service and nice portions. Don't judge a book by its cover this place gives that old school vibe, no sit down space only togo but they told us that in the name Lols.
google avatar

Morgan R.

Yelp
Large portions for a good price. I love their barbecue pork. Their rice and chow mein. It is also so good. The fried Chicken is always moist
google avatar

Clarencio A.

Yelp
Food is great! Family owned friendly and welcoming! Every time I call for a pick up, 20 minutes wait time! always on the money
google avatar

Gene B.

Yelp
Friendly customer service. The food was average to me. Not terrible but not exceptional either. Only came here because my favorite Chinese take is closed on Sundays. Wish they would display the food behind the window counter. Could make more sales if they did that.

Chris D.

Yelp
After reading a few reviews I decided to try. Food wasn't very good, pretty bland for me. Even the soy sauce provided tasted off ‍ . The only good thing was that the food came out fast after ordering. Probably won't go back
google avatar

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Yummmmm I recommend this hidden gem! Definitely worth the wait guys. This is a moms and pops restaurant mainly run by 2 people, I am guessing a married couple but tbh I'm not sure? But the lady that took our order was very kind and quick! 10/10
google avatar

Shawniece S.

Yelp
Ole School Eastmont Mall Chinese Food taste...takes me back, hella good! That greasy ass fried chicken in the paper bag...legendary

Craig H.

Yelp
A total hole in the wall kind of place. Take out only. But the BEST tasting and most consistent Chinese Food in Stockton! I have tried most of the larger more popular locations in town ( Tsing Tao, Dave Wongs and many others ). Don't let the cover fool you!
google avatar

Orlando P.

Yelp
Chow to go is a very small operation. Just 2 people who are husband and wife. The food is good. Portions are large, and they are cooked to order. No heat lamps here. If you want food under a heat lamp, go to Dave Wongs. The only issue is they are only 2 people here, so their are 15 minutes, is more like 30 minutes. They do not have good time management. But is good it not great.

Yelp
The good, one of my favorite places to go, low cost, tasty food, prepared hot for take out. The service is good and the people are nice. Typical 4 state restaurant. The bad, appearance of business looks dated and may not be the healthiest of places to order. Yet for several years I've gotten good food and there's been a steady flow of customers. My first visit I was hesitant to ever order. However my fears changed when ever order was tasty and properly prepared. I avoided even checking the environmental health departments inspection reports, because I so wanted to continue to eat here. The reports are actually good except citing food was left resting on the side of the sink. I don't know where my sunflower shell originated but I do know that it's not typical of an ingredient on chinese cuisine. What I do know is sunflower shells are spit out. The thought of finding the shell mixed in might order likely from somebody's mouth had me gagging. I couldn't eat my order nor will I ever eat here again. This is as bad as the cockroaches that I've seen crawling on other restaurants buffet carts, molded bread, bug larvae in food, dog food smelling lunch specials, fly is clam chowder, and worms in costco fish. So it's a permanent goodbye, I won't ever go back especially if there's a possibility that covid 19 is real and contagious. It was really an insult that a business could practice such shoddy health practices. Please note environmental health inspections are sporadic, between inspections many violations can continuously occur. I believe this violation might possible require a mandatory shut down, I don't know. What I do know is Yelper beware.

Yelp
My sister ordered the House Special Chow Fun ($8.25), House Special Egg Foo Young ($8.00), the Hong Kong Style Chow Mein ($8.00), and the Honey Walnut Shrimp ($9.25) to go on Christmas Day. My favorite was the Hong Kong Style Chow Mein. We all thought the House Special Egg Foo was a bit too salty. I thought that the Honey Walnut Shrimp was also too doughy. I would also have preferred that the dough was more fried/crunchier? The dough was a bit much for me. My family liked the Honey Walnut Shrimp just the way it was though, so this is just a personal preference. The shrimps they use are huge and succulent, which I really appreciated and noticed. Overall, it wasn't the best Chinese food I've had, but I will definitely keep coming back if I have the craving for it. The prices for the portions they give can't be beat!

Gordon J.

Yelp
I like their food. Their asparagus with beef over rice is good. Another item that is good is the Hong Kong style noodles. There's a good amount of meat with it.
google avatar

Christian C.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!! Terrrrible Customer service. I've given them too much service to be disrespected by them. They have hung up on me repeatedly just for asking simple questions. Very rude!
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
Went and got some chicken chow Mein it's was really good lots of flavors would highly recommend

Yelp
Been coming to this place since my wife took me here a lil 3 years ago. Chowmein, fried chicken & Mongolian beef is a must! #Myfaves oh yeah the owner #lady at the front is so friendly! Recommend this place if you need Chinese food in your life!

Estalina H.

Yelp
Honestly I'm surprised this place isn't crawling wirh orders. The lady at the front was so nice. And our food was done in 20 minutes just like she said! My favorites were sweet & sour pork, beef and broccoli, and fried wonton are to die for!! When I think of Chinese food this is what I think of!! I mean the set up inside is it fancy? No. But it's a family owned place and honestly the inside isn't something to deter me away from buying again! Can't believe I've been in Stockton 5 years and haven't been here!
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
We have gone here for YEARS!! For so long you used to be able to sit down inside and eat. The food has always been great and fresh. The owners are awesome and so friendly. As long as they are open we will continue to enjoy the food they cook for us!!

Serena L.

Yelp
It's always a treat to eat here! I used to come here as a kid with my family and the food still tastes as great as it did 17 years ago.
google avatar

Eddie H.

Yelp
So this was my first visit here. I wasn't sure what to order since I was going off of my dads appetite and not mine (although I love Chinese food and Asian cuisine in general) so i ended up trying to complete his list of Wonton noodle soup Orange chicken Broccoli beef & bbq pork fried rice I also got egg rolls and a combination plate that had fried chicken legs in it First off the price was a lot less than i thought just under 30$ The food was that classic greasy Americanized Chinese food but still tasty...the egg rolls are huge(i actually thought they were the chicken legs lol) Id like to come back to try the suggested dry fried ribs because in my my hometown I ate them growing up and haven't really had them before because i dont see them on menus that often. Friendly staff. Thanks a lot

Yelp
If you're in the mood for cheap, greasy Chinese food, I'd suggest chow to go. I went in around 8:40 pm right before they close at 9. They were actually getting ready to close the door but they did let me in to order. The inside of this place isn't nice to look at lol it's pretty all over the place. I guess it used to be a sit down restaurant, but Chinese to go is definitely CHINESE TO GO. They have a picture menu display right in front. However, you will need to look at their actual new paper menu, as the prices displayed with the photos are completely wrong. A little upsetting, because the food tasted worth what was displayed in the the photos and not the new pricier paper menu. Still cheap though. I ordered the Dinner for one which comes with pork fried rice, pork chow mein and two main entrees, I picked garlic fried chicken and broccoli beef. The broccoli beef was good and the 2 pieces of fried chicken was hella good! The rice and chow mein though, not so much. I paid around $9 for it. About $2 more than it used to be. Absolutely huge portion as well. Shared it with the BF and we ate more than enough. I personally don't think I'll come back unless I have no other choice, or I want some of their fried chicken.

Mary O.

Yelp
Very good food. Always fresh and tasty. Have been ordering from here for many years, because it is very convenient and we never have to wait long.

Kassandra Z.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying the service was absolutely horrible! The restaurant was a MESS, and the fried rice had hard little things that looked like tiny brown eggs, please avoid this place if possible

Dominique V.

Yelp
Really good food but they don't answer more then half the time and they expect you not to be upset about their lack of customer service. To go only.

Louis B.

Yelp
Would recommend the following: fried rice, orange chicken, foil chicken and fried shrimp! Cool little take out place and they have good prices! One of the top places in Stockton for take out.
google avatar

Roger K.

Yelp
This place is always great I appreciate they make my order with no onions due to food allergy. Very nice family run business everything is great on the menu Fried Chicken and chow fun is a regular item for me then I try different items to complete my order.
google avatar

Robert F.

Yelp
Ok first time eating at this location. For a quick meal this is the place to go. The portions are good so watch how much you order. The egg rolls are big definitely not your normal egg roll. Will definitely be coming back again.
google avatar

Star B.

Yelp
This place is delicious I got A3 combinations plate and it was delicious. However I only got that plate to try the garlic chicken it just tasted like regular fried chicken no garlic. The sweet and Sour pork was the best and chow mein I am not a fan of the rice because of the strong Asian taste but definitely this is my new Chinese food place
google avatar

Kristina H.

Yelp
Literally this is the only place we will get Chinese from in Stockton. I was definitely apprehensive when my mom first suggested it. The name seems kind of sketch and it's such a teeny hole in the wall place. I am so happy I gave it a try tho. The BBQ pork is amazing. The pork wonton soup is full of wonton and meat and the broth has an excellent flavor. I could go on about almost every dish here! You have to go early but if you happen to catch them when they have pork buns, they're for sure some of the best. On top of the excellent food, I have absolutely nothing but respect for the owners. They're in there six days a week working incredibly hard. They are so friendly and it's overall just a great place. Would recommend!
google avatar

Mama L.

Yelp
Food is usually very good. My issue is them not answering the phone. Even before covid. They sometimes answer the phone then set it down without saying anything and just let you sit there. Sometimes the phone just rings until you get the automated voice asking for your code or a busy signal for a long time.
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
Very fresh vegetables, made to order, not delicious, not particularly satisfying but nothing overtly off-putting. Just "vanilla". The white bread of American Chinese restaurants. Nice service, affordable. Not a memorable meal, which I guess is better than being memorable for the wrong reasons. In the same way that having no credit is better than bad credit.

Tommy Y.

Yelp
Just order a few stuff the chow fun was very bland the pork spareribs with black bean sauce was ok the beef chow mein has a funny smell like it was not fresh and very bland also that was my first time trying Chinese food at this location and by the taste of it I'm not planning on a revisit
google avatar

Jenna L.

Yelp
Never had I eaten House chow fun that tasted so good!!! I seriously wanted to cry because I though China palace had the best chow fun, but I was so wrong. I'd seen all the picture on yelp and it look so... good so I had to try it out myself, and I'm so thankful that I did! The chow mein, sweet and sour pork, fried chicken, and the fried shrimp that was so fluffy and moist were all delicious!!! I'm pretty sure I'm over China palace except for their dim sum I can't get over that, I will be coming back to this place again. I was watching "Hungry wok" a Korean drama and I've been eating Chinese food for a whole week already. lol. Yesterday was "New yen Ching" which has delicious quality food too. lol
google avatar

Tracie L.

Yelp
Always a favorite for quick takeout! Portions are huge, quality is consistent, and it's your perfect local takeout! Mom and Pop ran and they get busy, so call ahead! Favorites here are potstickers (they are HUGE), foil chicken, garlic fried chicken, cashew chicken, and wonton soup. Whenever we have an impromptu get together, this is where we order to serve a group for a great price!
google avatar

Elisea A.

Yelp
I've been eating their here since I was in elementary school. I'm now 24 and I still go here. The food is amazing and they have really great prices. You get so much food. The owners are so nice and friendly. I really love small local places and if the food is good, I'll keep coming back. It's a whole in the wall place but you should definitely try it. I HIGHLY recommend! By far my favorite place to order take out from. Chow to go is definitely a hidden gem in little ole Stockton lol.
google avatar

Penny K.

Yelp
Good food...fried rice is always delicious.. my only to go to when I want chinese...plus its close to my house...I also like the sesame balls...mmmm.
google avatar

Gina G.

Yelp
Locals love this place because they cook your food fresh when you order it and they give you good size portions at a reasonable price. Winnie is very friendly and knows many of her customers because they've been around awhile and we always come back for more! Chow to go is exactly that! You call in your order and take your chow to go. Try it... You might like it...then keep coming back for more!
google avatar

Yelp
Don't be intimidated by the hoopty name of this establishment or its close proximity to the drycleaners and the I-5 freeway. Definitely a hole-in-the-wall spot, but aren't those always the best! This is a take-out location only, which is good, because I think it used to be part of the neighboring drycleaner's spot and therefore, cannot hold much more than some chairs and a table. There's only 4 or 5 chairs there for patrons to wait for their food, but the service is very quick. And cheap. And good. My standard dinner order for 4 people is: Honey-Walnut Prawns (yummmm ! soooo good, you can't even imagine!), Spicy Egglplant, Sweet N Sour Chicken (for the white folk), and steamed white rice. The Sweet N Sour Chicken is very good; you actually get a lot of chicken and not just breaded and fried fat clumps with bits of chicken stuck to it. And the sauce isn't too sweet or goopy. If I had to eat Sweet N Sour Chicken, I'd want it from here. Yes, this place looks sketchy at best from the outside, but who cares -- take-out's never been so good! (Thanks to Buckout for telling me about this joint!)

Breanne M.

Yelp
A hole in the wall. This place is legendary. You call they take forever to asleep the phone (which is a good thing in my option) shows that they are busy. Busy means people like this place and often go back. I don't love to far from them but in a area where Chinese food is hard to find. I discovered this place a while back. I use to go in my childhood but forgot all about them until recently. They are exactly the same as I remember. AMAZING QUALITY AND FOOD. the prices are great the serving size is even BETTER. The fried ribs are THE BEST. one order is gone in 5 minutes at my house. Sweet and sour pork amazing as well so flavorful never dried out. House fried rice always has a generous amount of shrimp more than other places. The ladies are so kind and nice. They have the best service food is great. I'd eat her over Dave wongs or any fancy restaurant any day. I'll upload pictures when I find them or when I go again. Which ever comes first.
