Cantonese-leaning comfort food—whole fish, salt-and-pepper dishes, and hearty soups—in a modest setting. Cited by longtime local food writers as a premier Cantonese option and validated by steady, recent diner praise.

Driving through and needed a place open after 9 pm that was not fast food. Tasted as it was cooked fresh. Would certainly stop by again if was in the area. Rice and tea were included with your orders. You order family style and share the dishes with others.

I’ve lived in several states and tried General Tso’s chicken in many places, but unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. The dish lacked the signature sweet, spicy, and rich flavor—it was surprisingly bland and soggy, despite me waiting for the food to be freshly made. It tasted mostly of bell pepper and had no crunch or depth. The sweet and sour chicken had a crispy exterior, but the sauce was extremely watered down and lacked any real flavor. Similarly, the beef lo mein was bland, tasting only of plain noodles with no noticeable sauce or seasoning. I spent over $45 here, and sadly, it felt like a waste of both money and time. The restaurant was clean and the staff were polite, which I appreciate, but unfortunately, the food just didn’t meet expectations. Based on this experience, I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to others.

So I drove past this restaurant and something about it screamed good food lol. Told my sis about it and we were there. Combination fried rice we both had, sis had sesame chicken, I had crispy quail and lemonade. Now when I tell ya the food is good, it is GOOD. And they had a full house. You should try it. *Update January 25th 2025* I think they changed their chef or he/she is on vacation. I just wasted $32 and some cents. Fried rice tastes like soaked rice. Salt and pepper shrimps still has blood flowing in it. I could not bring myself to eating it. This food is a mess. I will NEVER come here again. I am so nauseated right now.👎👎👎I have brought over seven persons here on different occasions and up until today, I still preached about this place only to be served this! I hope you guys do better really💔

Update 4 years later: Chows is one of my all time favorite restaurants. Their salty fish fried rice is one of the best fried rice dish I've ever had here in OKC. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. Perfect for family style eating.

I grow up eating tons of Chinese food and this is some Authentic Chinese food. One of my top favorite Chinese restaurant in Oklahoma City. Ordered the beef satay sauce clay pot dish and it has a hint of spice. They open everyday except Tuesday.

I didn’t love the food that was served and I’ve attached some pictures for reference. I. Sure some of their food is awesome just not what I got.

Google
What a gem! I have never had food like this before, and looks can be deceiving but this place is a real show stopper. If you love asian cuisine this is the best place in Oklahoma to get it. I see myself coming here every time I am down and it is just so good every time. The staff is sweet and the food is fresh and hot. I seriously cant wait to come back, and the prices are wonderful you just cant beat it.

Google
Nothing short of WOW! The chef here is amazing...ALL food comes to the table steaming hot! Wait staff is so helpful and attentive in being sure we are happy with everything. Ask for Kim! Best place in Oklahoma for fresh lobster! 3lb lobsters flown in fresh weekly from Boston! 3lb display lobster meal like nothing you've ever had before. $50 Served several ways. Worth every penny! A DO NOT MISS DINING EXPERIENCE! Cannot Recommend Highly Enough!

Yelp
Seafood Udon, Peking Spare Ribs, and S&P Tofu! We haven't been back in awhile, but so glad my friend was craving authentic Chinese food for dinner. Service was QUICK! Side note: don't pay with AMEX...they accepted one night, but refused the following night (friend went back for more ribs)

Yelp
Top two Chinese restaurant in the city. Serving size: killing it. Flavor: killing it. Vibe: killing it. Rangoons: ranned and gooned. Service: (not that I really give a damn if the food is good) vibey. But above all, they have glossy peppermints and that's what takes them from a 4 to a 5 star. Someone told me they used to be BYOB and if that's true I might start dining in because this is THE Chinese spot if you're in the inner city corridor.

Yelp
Child's lunch specials are very affordable and served with fried rice or steamed rice, hot and sour soup or egg drop soup. You can add an eggroll spring $1.40 - 3 fried dumplings $1.80, 5 fried Wong $1.80, 2 crab Rangoon $1.80 - well worth the price. For the lunch special we ordered the Mongolian beef, Szechuan beef. Kung-Pao chicken. We also ordered the orange beef with steamed rice and fried eggplant. The food was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the fried eggplant which was Friday golden brown the eggplant was tender and very tasty. Service was friendly food was served in a fast, timely manner.

Yelp
We got to the restaurant around 7 pm & it was packed. We had to wait at least 30 minutes before getting seated. There were a few big parties celebrating birthdays that evening. Nevertheless, once seated & food ordered, the food was served quite quickly. Everything was delicious. This is our go to for authentic Chinese food.

Yelp
Love the food. Our favorites are the Szechuan style eggplant and the shrimp with flat noodles. Not crazy about the wontons or crispy duck but everything else has been great.
google avatar

Tim T.

Yelp
Very good Chinese food and lower prices, their curry Chicken with rice is also great. Their steamed dumplings are also excellent as well. Beverages such as iced tea and OJ are also provided (in addition to Pepsi products). Interior ambiance also spacious with plenty of tables. Service also prompt and attentive. Recommended!

Yelp
*dine up closes at 10:30pm* I love Chows. I've been many times and it's always wonderful.

Yelp
Over cooked my lobster and stirred fried vegetables tasted very light. The chef must be on the rush.

Yelp
This place has been recommended to me for years and I've never been, so tonight my partner and I decided to go for dinner. I had the curry fried rice, he had the combination udon noodles and we split some apps (fried dumplings and crab Rangoon). The ladies in the front of the house were nice but not overly friendly. The place looked clean. The food was good but honestly a little underwhelming, especially for the price (which has gone up but they haven't changed it on any of the menus so surprise your $36 meal for two is now $50 before tip). The fried dumplings were really over done and the rangoon were almost non edible they were so well done. The fried rice was really tasty and to quote my partner "the udon noodles were good but the meat just tasted like it was from a fajita plate at a bad Mexican restaurant." I would definitely eat there again and try something different but it definitely didn't quite live up to the hype of my friends' recommendations.

Yelp
I miss Chows soooo much. I used to live about half a mile away and get to enjoy the salt and pepper tofu weekly. Do not let the outside of the building deter you. This place is as legit as it gets. Every time I visit OKC, I have to go to Chows. It's just damn delicous. The owners are so friendly and provide excellent service. Hands down, Choes is one of my all time favorite places to eat .
google avatar

Yelp
Ambience...1989 called. They want their interior back. Service was OK. The server was enthusiastic and the food arrived quickly. But the food was a disappointment. The Vietnamese Spring roll was a fried egg roll that was dripping pork grease. The sweet and sour sauce was neither. The fried rice was white rice with soy sauce to turn it brown. No egg, pork, corn, veg. Nothing. The Mongolian Beef lacked any flavor other than salt. It's very rare for me to leave food on the plate but I did tonight. The server did not refill my iced tea either. Oh, even they say they don't really do Vietnamese food. Overall, don't bother.

Yelp
Service was excellent! Food was phenomenal and the portions were huge. This is one of our top 3 Chinese restaurants to visit.

Yelp
Chinese food craving = Satisfied! If you're looking for a place to get Chinese food, this is the place to go. Upon arrival, the parking lot was packed. Once inside, and after viewing the menu, the options were endless. From authentic options to Westernized options, there's something for everyone. We got the Kung Pao Chicken, Szechuan Chicken, Chicken with Black Bean Sauce, spring rolls, egg rolls, and hot and sour soup (not pictured). Prices are reasonable! You can adjust the spice level, and chili oil is available at the table. My family and I have been on the hunt for a good Chinese restaurant, and we left Chow's knowing we would definitely return. We have found our go-to Chinese restaurant. We hope to return one day during lunch, too! The lunch specials looked very good! Come give Chow's a try the next time you're looking to eat Chinese food!

Yelp
Chow's probably one of the best Chinese restaurants in town. I have been to Chow's 3 times in the past, all with a group. This is probably the main reason why I am giving Chow's a 5 stars. This restaurant is really good for large groups, catering for a family style dining experience where entrees are being shared among family members. You could go here by yourself or with another person but won't get the most out of it. I have tried the following entrees at this restaurant over the years: crab meat with fish Mau soup, Yang Chow (combination) fried rice, salt and pepper shrimp, squid, tofu, and spare ribs, black mushroom with Chinese vegetables, stir fried water spinach and snow peas tips, Kailan beef, sizzling steak with black pepper sauce, steamed bass with ginger scallion. There may be a couple of other entrees that I can't remember. I don't ever remember an entrée that I disliked. My favorites are the salt and pepper spare ribs or squid and their sizzling meat with black pepper sauce. Yummy! The only minor criticism is the stir fried water spinach with garlic. The water spinach is mostly stalks and no leaves.

Yelp
Love this place. Food is always great. Service is hit or miss. But we go for the food regardless. We tend to get it to go instead of dining in.

Yelp
Great Chinese food huge menu great for families, big portions. Large variety to choose from and a great friendly staff

Yelp
Holy Katz, BRILLIANT, fresh, San Francisco style Chinese food. The veggies were bright and crisp, and everything was cooked to perfection and served piping hot! The portions are massive (I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but the egg rolls are as big around as my wrist), and the crab rangoons are ACTUALLY crab rangoons! I live in Norman and we will be making the trip to the city just for Chow's!

Susan R.

Yelp
Ate lunch there yesterday and our meals were delicious. Egg rolls are the best and our shrimp Lo mein and chicken dishes were so good. Portions are very generous. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. We will be going my back soon!

Paul P.

Yelp
Food was delicious but the service was horrible. We went at 7pm for dinner and service was rude. Had six people and they charge us gratuities which is normal. So we didn't leave a tip after been charge a 22% gratuity and the lady had the nerve to chance us down and ask for her tip as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible! We have been looking for a new spot since moving here. The food was top notch. The service was amazing. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Just going to echo the reviews already on here for Chow's, it's excellent and on my second time around I found the experience just as awesome as the first. The one thing I like above all here is when I asked for spicy, it was spicy. Too many times I get some mild weak *** mess that my mom could eat. I want/like spicy so bring me the fire! And that is what Chow's did/does for me. BOOM! We've tried many menu items here and they've all been a hundred. The restaurant is clean and service is friendly. If you are down with social distancing they have divided between the tables so with staff wearing masks there is no reason to avoid this Southeast Asian slice of Heaven! Oh, and they're open until eleven so for you late night diners (guilty as charged) they can hook you up!

Sierra G.

Yelp
Everything we got was amazing. Great service and delicious food items. Very fresh and fast! Would definitely recommend and come back.

Yelp
Best Cantonese-style Chinese food in OKC! This is where I go when I miss my dad's cooking. They cater to both the Asian as well as the westernized palette. So plenty of egg rolls, fried rice, and crab rangoon. But our favorites include the crab meat with fish maw soup, cold jellyfish, a fresh veggie (usually snow pea tips or watercrest), clams, steamed chicken with ginger scallion, their steamed oyster or the lobster, and a salt and pepper anything (tofu, shrimp, spare ribs, squid, etc.). So good!

Fuck H.

Yelp
The best eggrolls in the the city, the best chow mien, the best seafood,Family owned & operated.
google avatar

Jackie B.

Yelp
I've gotten take out a few times -- before this, I hadn't found my local Chinese take out spot. Search no more! Anytime I've called in an order they have it ready in 10 minutes. And if you love crab rangoons, they're amazing here.
google avatar

Edward L.

Yelp
Never tried the lunch special before. As usual service was prompt with really polite waitress.. The beef with peppers was hot and delicious! Not to mention a large portion!
google avatar

Metapod M.

Yelp
Food terrible. Chicken was all bone and no meat. Vegetables greasy. Curry was soupy. Not authentic. Not good.

Andrew M.

Yelp
This is the best Chinese restaurant in the metro in my experience and if you've been to a few different spots you probably know how bad and low effort some of it is. Very high quality and tasty food for the price and portion size and service were very good.
google avatar

Madison T.

Yelp
Best Chinese around! This is mine go to for Chinese. The food portions are more tailored for a family but I usually eat some and can eat it for a couple extra meals. The salty fried rice and Vietnamese cube steak are some of my favorites

Daniel C.

Yelp
I loved chows but because of the disrespect of the china house I will never eat Chinese food again!!!
google avatar

Kai L.

Yelp
There are better places to go for Chinese food. The food here was over cooked, flavors were off, and oily. Service was also rude. I would recommend asian bistro instead I've never been disappointed in the food or service there!

Tina T.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, very attentive and friendly service, priced well, great variety of menu options and good food! We'll definitely be going back!
google avatar

Lesette L.

Yelp
I could eat here everyday. The food is amazing!! Everything is very authentic & flavorful. Haven't tried anything i didn't like!

Yelp
We have been wanting to try this place for awhile. We are so glad we finally did. We are already talking about when we are returning. Everyone working was super attentive and nice. The menu was a little overwhelming but they asked us if we have any questions about the menu. The fried dumplings were amazing. We could have had 2 orders. I went with the Szechuan Beef and I asked them to only add carrots, onions and broccoli. I had asked them to spice it up a notch but they informed me that is has a decent spice level already. The spice level was perfect. Nathan ordered the sweet and sour pork Chinese style and so much better then the version most of us are used to. I highly recommend this place. The portions are a good size. We were a little delayed on taking our pictures because we were so hungry.
google avatar

Torri H.

Yelp
The low mein (which to me is called chow mein elsewhere) was spot on, zero complaints about it. Also the fried dumplings hit the spot too and I asked for them extra crispy and they delivered! I ordered the peking spare ribs too and the dish seems like it was executed well but for some reason my party and I just weren't big fans of it. A side of plain fried rice accompanied the spare ribs and you could taste that it wasn't made to order, if it were fresher then it would have been pretty tasty.
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Good Chinese/Vietnamese food. Nothing fancy. It is well made and delicious. Best place in the city to get family style Asian food. Best things to get: Seafood tofu soup Quail Salt and pepper anything Fried tofu Orange peel beef Crispy ginger scallion chicken Peking shrimp or porkchops Stir fried green beans with pork
google avatar

Holly R.

Yelp
good service, huge menu, delicious food, and clean tables and chairs. on the quiet side.

Yelp
Chow's is a great little Chinese restaurant in OKC, perfect for a group meal. I would highly suggest doing a "family style" meal where everyone picks one dish and share it all so you can try several of the dishes available. This restaurant has definitely some of the best Chinese dishes in town, very authentic and full of flavors! The menu is quite exhaustive and can be a little overwhelming but stray away from the "Americanized dishes" like sweet and sour chicken or Kung Pao. If you like chicken the Crispy chicken with ginger scallion is great! The crispy or roasted duck are great dishes as well if you like duck! On our last outing we tried the salt and pepper stir fried squid which was delicious. They have pretty good seafood dishes to choose from as well! Little side note the restaurant used to be BYOB but is not anymore. They do offer beer and a very small selection of wine.

Clarence W.

Yelp
I went there to order takeout based on the number of very positive reviews posted on Yelp. All I can say is PLEASE do not believe the reviews!! Save your money... This was close to the worst, if not the worst, Chinese food that I have ever had the "privilege" of paying for... The entrées provide large portions, of which we simply threw away after eating a small amount of food. I ordered Orange Chicken. What I got was a mushy "fried" chicken soaked in a sauce that had no trace of orange. In fact I couldn't recognize the flavor. The Orange Chicken from Trader Joe's is FAR superior. The fried rice was cold and was unrecognizable. No eggs, vegetables, or onions.. It looked like old cold rice soaked in a copious amount of soy sauce. The Chicken and Broccoli was also cold and extraordinarily bland... The food was simply not good.
google avatar

Abe W.

Yelp
Decided to try this place out as it came highly recommended. We ordered all our favorites. The wonton soup was full of veggies but came with very little wontons and overall the broth lacked much seasoning. I did add a lot of salt and while it tasted better, it still lacked a depth of flavor. Lack of seasoning was a common thread for many of their dishes. The best thing we ate (after adding table salt) was the sesame chicken! It was so tasty and the chicken was juicy and crunchy. This place is very popular in OKC so it could have been an off night when we went.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
The parking lot was full and so was the restaurant, and we took the last available table. To me that means it's a good place to eat. We ordered the Flat Noodles (with shrimp instead of beef), Fried Fish Fillet with scallion sauce, and finally On Choy vegetables. Everything tasted great and the service was good too.
google avatar

Dana G.

Yelp
Chow's is an awesome local business. The food is great- the lunch specials are affordable and good portions. Great place to go with a group and order multiple items to share!
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
The spicy chicken curry was FANTASTIC. All the staff was masked, too, and social distancing was enforced within the restaurant. Five easy stars!
google avatar

Yizhen L.

Yelp
I LOVE chow's. It's one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in OKC. It caters well to western palate which is meant as a compliment. I've lived in the US for most of my life and embarrassingly I think my food preference/profile has mostly westernized. I like the Chinese fare here. Anything salt and pepper (fried) is delicious!! You just can't go wrong! The Peking pork chop is pretty good as well. I come for lunch sometimes too and I think they offer a pretty killer lunch deal (something like $7 for a meal with soup). The general tso's chicken is sweet and savory with this unique smoky flavor, I absolutely love it every time. I can't wait to try more items but I just keep going back to the ones I already know. It's a blessing and a curse sometimes!
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over 35 years. A friend of my dad's opened it and while the building is old and dated, the food is phenomenal. I don't come here for the atmosphere... but I believe they may have remodeled recently
google avatar

Jesus T.

Yelp
All a-la-cart but will save you more money than most places. Very authentic. Highly recommend vegetable of the day.
google avatar

Harry H.

Yelp
This restaurant is shooting for a family style dishes. Should bring large group because the portion is huggggggeeeeee. Check out the spread in my pic, doesn't justify it. Service was prompt and kind. Would come by again if traveling across the country again. It's easy to find off I-40 or I-44. Cheers mate!
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
My husband and I have been on the hunt for a good Chinese restaurant for a long time! Someone mentioned Chow's so we decided to give it a try! How did I not know about this little gem? It's been around since the 80's!?!? What??? Don't let the old building scare you! Once you walk thru the door you will be pleasantly surprised! It's nice and clean and decorated nicely inside!! The lady that helped us was so nice and friendly I wish I could remember her name! I want to say she was the owner!? We tried the sizzling steak with black pepper sauce and the Beef Ho Fun! We also had egg drop soup (no due here) and the fried dumplings! Everything was wonderful and we enjoyed it all! So glad to have found this place! We will definitely be back to try more new things!

Mike F.

Yelp
Great food, great service, ordered takeout for Thanksgiving and enjoyed everything. From crab Rangoon, Hot and Sour soup, to General Tao's for the youngsters, to Mongolian beef all was excellent
