Chris comes out and says hi, tells you that he does fried chicken, shrimp, lobster, and goat curry and you should get all of them because they’re so good. “Chef Chris Marsh had been serving Jamaican specialties for 16 years before Anthony Bourdain featured him on the popular CNN show Parts Unknown in 2014. He’s particularly known for his escovitch fish‚ a super spicy, tasty dish marinated in vinegar. Marsh is currently building a rooftop deck with an epic view of James Bond Beach. Until that’s complete, eat beneath the sprawling ackee tree behind the restaurant.”

We had curry goat, curry shrimp, garlic lobster and salad with rice and peas and fried chicken it was absolutely amazing and Ashanti, our server and the owner's daughter was lovely and an excellent cook as well :). And the atmosphere was like being in a treehouse.

Chris was so kind and welcoming and the food was really yummy. We went later at night and felt a little uncomfortable and took the food to go. I’d love to go back day time.

We were a little nervous going in but should not have been. There is a second more inviting entrance lower on the road. Need to order up front. Excellent curry goat.

Amazing food and atmosphere. I had an absolutely delicious vegan meal - curry, salad and rice for 1900 JMD

The food was fine. We were shown no menu or told any prices before hand and were charged $90.00 USD which seemed very expensive for what it was. The restaurant is quite rough and ready and didn’t appear to have a bathroom. When we queried the price we were told that’s just what it was and how much it cost. Unfortunately by that point the two other tables had left so we couldn’t compare. Disappointing.

When staying at Goldeneye, many travelers will want an authentic Jamaican meal. Upon searching Google Maps, it appears that Chris's is about a 5min walk from the hotel. This is incorrect as of 2/8/2020. The location is very wrong, as Chris's is more like 1.5mi away. I would recommend tourists have the hotel arrange a car service and not walk. You may also know that Chris (the owner) was featured on Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Unknown" (S4e8) in 2014. Chris's establishment is the embodiment of Jamaican cuisine. High quality, no frills, all smiles. That being said, I very much recommend Chris's Cafe. Food is served family style, and our party (of 6) ordered plates of everything on the menu. Curried goat, curry shrimp, fried chicken, lobster, and a pineapple salad. It was all DELICIOUS. You can BYO alcohol, but Chris does serve a few varieties of beer. Pricing was fair, and came out to around USD$30/person - we all had more than our fill. Cash Only, US or Jamaican is accepted.
