As wedding photographers with a keen eye for stunning backdrops, we were thrilled to capture a recent wedding at Chroma Detroit. This new venue has quickly become a favorite, and for good reason! Chroma offers a unique and modern event space perched atop the ninth floor. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide an absolutely breathtaking panoramic view of the Detroit skyline. It's a truly magical setting for capturing those "wow" moments on a couple's wedding day. The venue itself boasts an industrial-chic aesthetic with exposed brick walls and a neutral color palette. This blank canvas allows couples to personalize the space to perfectly match their wedding theme. We loved how the natural light played throughout the day, creating a soft and airy atmosphere for the ceremony and reception. For any couples seeking a fresh and modern venue with an unforgettable view, Chroma Detroit is a must-see. The space itself is stunning, and the staff is professional and accommodating. We can't wait to capture more beautiful weddings at this exciting new Detroit gem!

The Chroma building of Detroit is one of the most beautiful places you can work. It still has a lot of its classic architecture which gives it that distinct Detroit personality. However, it has been modernized in many ways as well. The staff here, especially the IT, are wonderful.

Don't park in the parking lot! If the QR code to pay for your parking is not working (the only way there is to pay for the parking) they will send you a $100 ticket and not allow you to pay the regular rate. There's no one to talk to inside the building that the parking QR code is not working.

My son's wedding was 1/26. The parking lot is secure and well lit. There's a ramp if needed. From the time I entered the venue I was impressed. All the staff did an excellent service. I was greeted at the door. My coat was taken and hung ticket given. The wedding setup was beautiful. The bathroom was clean and handicap accessible. When I arrived on the 9th floor for the cocktail hour and reception the posted pictures does it no justice. The room, the table setup and striking decor, words cant describe, and the view is breathtaking. The food was scrumptious, there was nothing disappointing. I highly recommend Chroma.

Nice building, but having to pay to park in the lot is ridiculous. The new management company came up with that and its a money grab.

Our wedding was truly a dream come true for both my husband and I. The venue provided a stunning backdrop and from the moment we toured we knew it was perfect. The day-of staff, Jed and Jeremiah, were incredibly kind and accommodating. They went above and beyond to address any issues that arose during the event, and their professionalism was greatly appreciated. However, the challenges we faced with the venue left a bitter aftertaste given issues started the moment we signed our contract in 01/2023. Initially, we were under the impression that our contract would consist of 2 contracts: 1 for the venue and another for the all-inclusive package from Continental. However, shortly after paying our initial security deposit, we were blindsided by the revelation that a 2nd deposit was required days before leaving for Paris. This lack of transparency and failure to fully disclose the terms of the agreement set a troubling precedent for the rest of our dealings with the venue. Midway through the payment process, we received an invoice that increased our final payment over $10k, despite no recent additions that would justify the new amount. Upon inquiry, we were informed that our contracts had been merged, and the portion for the venue would now be with the “all-inclusive” payments. This decision was made without our consent or prior notification, leaving us feeling blindsided yet again. Additionally, discrepancies in the breakdown of costs, such as the inflated charge for a cake credit, further eroded our trust in the billing practices. Despite providing clear instructions regarding our decor preferences, the limitations imposed by the all-inclusive package forced us to handle much of the décor ourselves. We were initially informed that they would not touch our decor, only to be told later by venue staff that they could have assisted, contradicting earlier directives. This miscommunication not only added unnecessary stress but also resulted in a loss of valuable time on the day of the wedding, as we had to personally oversee set-up instead of enjoying precious moments with our loved ones. Despite assurances that our belongings would be secure on the 3rd floor, we witnessed strangers access the designated area before the ceremony had even begun. This breach not only left our valuables vulnerable but also highlighted the failure to uphold promises regarding guest safety. The tasting experience, fell short of expectations, with only a limited selection of upgraded items only for sampling. This discrepancy between the samples provided and the final menu offerings left us feeling apprehensive about the food on our wedding day, adding unnecessary anxiety to an already stressful planning process. Despite facing unexpected job changes for both myself and my husband, we were met with little understanding or support from venue management. We were met with dismissive responses, further exacerbating our financial strain and diminishing our confidence in the venue's commitment to customer satisfaction. The allure of the all-inclusive package ultimately proved to be more of a burden than a benefit, and the lack of transparency and accountability from the venue's management was disappointing. Despite these shortcomings, the quality of the food provided by Continental was exceptional. However, I would caution future couples considering this venue to thoroughly review their contracts and ensure clear communication with the venue's staff to avoid similar issues.

I visited Chroma for a watch party, so my review is limited to a visit and not working there. I parked on the street. It is easy to find, and the facility feels safe and clean.

Yelp
I want to preface this review by expressing how truly magical our wedding day was. It was a dream come true for both my husband and me, and the venue itself provided a stunning backdrop for our special day. First and foremost, the venue itself is breathtakingly beautiful. From the moment we set foot inside, we knew it was the perfect place for our celebration. Additionally, the day-of staff, particularly Jed and Jeremiah, were incredibly kind and accommodating. They went above and beyond to address any issues that arose during the event, and their professionalism was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, our journey with the venue was not without its challenges. From the moment we signed our contract in January 2023, issues began to accumulate, casting a shadow over what should have been a seamless planning process. Initially, we were under the impression that our contract would consist of 2 separate contracts: 1 for the venue itself and another for the all-inclusive package provided by Continental. However, shortly after paying our initial security deposit, we were blindsided by the revelation that a 2nd security deposit was required, leaving us scrambling to cover unexpected expenses days before leaving for Paris. This lack of transparency and failure to fully disclose the terms of the agreement set a troubling precedent for the rest of our dealings with the venue. Midway through the payment process, we received an invoice that significantly increased our final payment by over $10,000, despite no recent additions to our package that would justify such a steep rise in cost. Upon inquiry, we were informed that our contracts had been merged, and the portion for the venue (Chroma) would now be billed through them. This unilateral decision was made without our consent or prior notification, leaving us feeling blindsided and financially strained. Additionally, discrepancies in the breakdown of costs, such as the inflated charge for a cake credit, further eroded our trust in the venue's billing practices. Despite providing clear instructions regarding our decor preferences, the limitations imposed by the all-inclusive package forced us to handle much of the setup ourselves. We were initially informed that they would not touch our decor, only to be told later by venue staff that they could have accommodated our requests, contradicting earlier directives. This miscommunication not only added unnecessary stress but also resulted in a loss of valuable time on the day of the wedding, as we had to personally oversee setup arrangements instead of enjoying precious moments with our loved ones. Despite assurances that our belongings would be secure on the 3rd floor, we witnessed strangers access the designated area before the ceremony had even begun. This breach of security not only left our valuables vulnerable but also highlighted the venue's failure to uphold its promises regarding guest safety and oversight. The tasting experience, intended to guide our menu selections, fell short of expectations, with only a limited selection of upgraded items only for sampling. This discrepancy between the samples provided and the final menu offerings left us feeling uncertain and apprehensive about the quality of the food on our wedding day, adding unnecessary anxiety to an already stressful planning process. Despite facing unexpected job changes for both myself and my husband, we were met with little understanding or support from venue management. We were met with dismissive responses, further exacerbating our financial strain and diminishing our confidence in the venue's commitment to customer satisfaction. While our wedding day itself was filled with joy and love, the challenges we faced with the venue left a bitter aftertaste. The allure of the all-inclusive package ultimately proved to be more of a burden than a benefit, and the lack of transparency and accountability from the venue's management was disappointing. Despite these shortcomings, I must acknowledge that the quality of the food provided by Continental was exceptional, adding a silver lining to an otherwise challenging experience. However, I would caution future couples considering this venue to thoroughly review their contracts and ensure clear communication with the venue's staff to avoid similar issues.

Yelp
Chroma features fabulous coworking arrangements and office space as well as event hosting. I attended a screening for the FREEP Film Festival here and was impressed. The bathrooms were super clean and accessible. The film was screened on the main floor in the entrance where a large garage like door was opened onto a patio with lights, fire pits, and s'mores. They also had a bar there. They have a huge lot for parking. Chroma seems to be a new neighbor in Detroit and they were still working on some interior construction when I visited. I'm so looking forward to seeing Chroma's progress and what she will be used for in the future!

Yelp
Great venue for an "urban" wedding. Parking was free and easy, location was easy to find and the facility was fantastic. Wedding reception was held on top floor with a great view of the city. Food was excellent, as was the service.
