"There’s no shortage of brazen Sichuan peppercorns in the tongue-tingling dishes at this Mills 50 stalwart, be it Chongqing-style la zi fish, cumin lamb, or twice-cooked pork. The extensive menu is conducive to sharing, especially among those who like it hot. And that includes hot pots and hot-stone dishes. Do yourself a favor and throw your head into a bowl of shui zhu beef in hot chili sauce." - Faiyaz Kara

We had the pleasure of trying out this new restaurant recently and we loved it. The atmosphere is inviting and clean, the service was great, and the food was delicious! We have a hard time finding authentic Asian food in the Orlando area and we finally found it. We can’t wait to come back!

As Felix from the band Stray Kids once said, “Cooking like a chef, I’m a 5 star Michelin.” A better sentence could not be constructed to describe this restaurant. One year ago, I travelled here with my merry band of friends to eat dinner on the first night of our [very eventful] trip to Universal Studios. That dinner quickly became an experience I and my taste buds could never forget. Luckily, 8 hours is never too far to travel for great food, so when the opportunity came for us to leave Georgia and come indulge in Chuan Lu Garden cuisine I hopped on it faster than the Millennium Falcon can jump to light speed. (Was this trip intended for Disney? Yes. Did I consider returning to this restaurant far more important? Also yes.) Let me just say, the soup dumplings were just as sublime as I remembered. Last time we graced the doorstep of this fine establishment I described them as the sort of food that’ll “tuck you in and leave a little kiss on your forehead”*, and I would like to add that this time around they threw in a bedtime story and a massage for good measure. My stomach is pleasantly full and my heart has never been happier. We brought a different friend here for the first time and when those dry fried green beans came out she was a goner. She turned into a bean eating speed machine and has not shut up about them since. The food we ordered was so perfect that we had to sit in silence for a little bit to reflect on all the life decisions that led us back to this heavenly kitchen. Our waiter seemed surprised that I managed to down an entire pot of green tea by myself but I challenge any of y’all to taste tea that good and not immediately swallow all of it. (Though, perhaps I am a bit biased towards hot tea.) 10/10 service; it was apparently our waiter’s first day working but bro did so well. (If you’re out there reading this, we were the table of 3 that downed 5 portions of food in about 20 minutes and then laughed ourselves silly. Also you were lowkey really cute HSBKSNS. Keep up the good work! 💪😮‍💨💯👊🔥🦅) Much like we stuck forks into our soup dumplings to cool us down, if you stuck a fork into us now you would similarly find us full of soup. If you could somehow see heaven without dying, we’ve certainly glimpsed it inside that bamboo steamer. Keep cheffing it up in there; y’all’s food is bussin’ and we will definitely find another way to get down here again. Highly recommend this place to people who are tired after a long day and just need some comfort food. Order the soup dumplings and green beans for our sake, and we shall live vicariously through y’all from a state away. 🫡 *Apparently you can’t leave 2 reviews for the same place with the same Google account, so if you see a review from Azumon from a year ago that is also me ^-^

I have been a loyal patron of our favorite restaurant in Orlando for over 11 years now, and it's safe to say that my family and I are addicted to their incredible dishes. We can't get enough of the Lazi eggplant, Lazi tofu, and tofu hotpot - they never disappoint! This authentic Szechuan restaurant truly knows how to utilize numbing Szechuan peppercorns to elevate their flavors. It's no wonder my family flys in just to satisfy their cravings! Thank you to the restaurant and chef for consistently delivering such delicious and unforgettable meals. Your dedication to keeping these amazing dishes on the menu is truly appreciated. A very big Thank You to Michael for always ensuring that we have a fantastic dining experience.

Google
Stumbled upon this restaurant a couple months ago and we have been addicted since. Food is delicious never disappointed with everything we order. Our order to be exact is pork fried rice, the la zi chicken, chicken and broccoli ( absolutely delicious)! Best we have had since moving from nyc and we tried alot of places in Orlando as we always go out to eat. Pork buns and dumplings as well delicious definitely recommend for any one looking for a chill relax vibe family friendly. I’ read some of the reviews and I’m truly shocked any one would rate it below 4 stars!

They were open Christmas Day and therefore saved us from starving! Most of the dishes we ordered in our large group were pretty decent. Nothing was specially good or bad. The portions are large so get dishes to share

Google
Solid choice for Chinese food in the area! You’re a bit outside the tourist trap parts of Orlando so prices are more reasonable. Cute interior with plenty of seating, service is friendly and quick. Really enjoyed the food here, especially the dry pot. Everything was umami and delicious :) The drinks they had were very underwhelming. There’s a very small lot nearby but street parking is manageable to find. Overall would recommend.

Google
What a pleasant surprise! The menu offered various unique items you don't find often in Orlando. The flavor and quality of our food was spectacular and definitely worth the rave review we got from a friend. I had the pan fried pork dumpling that was as unique looking as tasty, the hot and sour soup small that had a small kick that made my taste buds jump, and the Zhajiang hand pull noodles that was delicious. We also tried their Ma Po Tofu with minced pork that was out of this world as well as their stir fried green beans with eggplant - a recipe I definitely need to get! The Krab puffs were also worth a try so all in all a wonderful feast for sure. Our waitress Ace made us feel welcome and had great suggestions on what to try and helped make the evening memorable.

Google
Best beef chow fun ever. And I had best hot and sour soup in years. It was actually hot and sour! Some Sichuan flavor can be too much for novices so make sure to double check your Sichuan spice tolerance before placing an order. Now the beef chow fan. I have no idea what they do with the chow fan noodles, but it was the most tender(and chewy at the same time) noodle I’ve ever had. You can expect similar texture in all of their seemingly home-made dim sum dumplings. Awesome.

Yelp
My husband and I have dined her several times and it's a real testament that it is the only Chinese restaurant in Orlando that we just keep coming back to. There is a lot of variety on the menu, so whatever you are looking for you can likely find. I've had spicy Szechuan style dishes (Chongqing chicken) and others that were incredibly flavorful with no "heat" at all (lemon chicken). Everything I've had here has been really good. Dan Dan noodles are a favorite. Last time I was here I had the beef soup with noodles and it blew my mind. I did a study abroad in China years ago and with the first bite of that soup I was transported back to XIan. It tasted just like the soup I had there. It was crazy. After I returned from China I couldn't eat American Chinese food for about a year. This soup was the first thing I've had in years that really tasted like the food I ate while there. It was so awesome. As for the rest, there is ample seating inside, but they do a great takeout business too. There is some parking behind the building as well. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We had a meeting in downtown Orlando and needed to find a place for lunch. We dropped into Chuan Lu Garden. Atmosphere: a large spacious old school Chinese restaurant with lots of pictures on the menu. Staff is really friendly. Food: we ordered: Fried Pork Chitterlings with Hot peppers -- while the flavors were spot on, the chitterlings were a little dry , ttough and chewy. 3/5 Fried Octopus - similar to the chitterlings, the flavors were good, but too much batter that makes the octopus a little too chewy and dry. 3/5 Tofu - the pungent sweet and sour sauce really overpowers the flavor of the tofu. 2/5 TL/DR: a good choice for authentic Zechuan food while you are in Downtown Orlando.

Yelp
You know the saying, "If there are pictures of the food items on the menu, don't eat there," well with our experience tonight, it was 50/50. Chuan Lu Garden didn't have the best Chinese food I've ever had; however, our entrées were great. Nancy's Stir-fried steak with vegetables ($13.99) and my Kung Pao Chicken ($13.99) were excellent. The food was right out of the Wok - hot and delicious and the rice was perfectly cooked and sticky. On the flip side the small bowl of Egg Drop Soup ($3.99), even though larger than expected was watery. The Octopus Skewer ($7.99), did not represent what was in the photo, which is a total failure. The Octopus came out when we were about halfway through our meals and it was just so depressing. Only four little Octopus over seasoned with what I believe was Coriander and salt, very dry and chewy; it wasn't good at all. I thought for $7.99 I would have received two full skewers of octopus like the photo showed; don't waste your money on this! It wasn't too busy when we arrived, we were seated right away, our table and the restaurant were clean; however, the men's restroom needs some TLC. Our server, Rachael, was great, got us everything we needed and kept our drinks topped off. Although the meal wasn't exactly what I expected, I would definitely come back for the service and delicious entrées.

Yelp
I really liked this place. The it is a very large space with lots of windows. The server was very kind and helpful. The food was authentic Szechuan Chinese. I love the Lai chicken with Szechuan peppercorns. I could skip the pork belly next time. I will definitely be going back.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I have had in a while, my friend and I loved the food the most, as well as the service, the decor/ambiance, and the relaxing music. Descriptions of each dish are attached to each photo below :) I cannot recommend this place enough now! A great first impression

Yelp
This was highly suggested by some people and we were in the area and decided to give this place a try. The restaurant is huge and the service was really good. Food was amazing and came piping hot. There is so much on the menu. The wontons and dim sum are a must. The fried rice was very flavorful. Lo mein noodles were very generous with portions. I really liked their hot and sour soup and chicken wings. Everything was just so good and authentic. Don't forget to try all the photo ops around the restaurant!

Yelp
Chuan Lu Garden is a Szechuan Chinese restaurant that I've had on my to-try list for years for whenever I visit my family in Orlando. So when Chuan Lu Garden was proposed for dinner, I hopped on the opportunity. The restaurant is HUGE. From the front and even when you first enter, it doesn't appear to be until start walking through the restaurant. We had a group of 8 so we were seated at a large round table and we ordered quite an array of dishes to try. The menu is HUGE - over 20 pages of dishes/photos. While the photos are beautiful and helpful, it's hard to go through 20 pages of food/photos to settle on a final order. We ordered 8 dishes for our 8top. Everything we had was delicious - zero complaints all around. My favorites were the dongpo pork knuckle, the braised lamb belly, the sichuan style mouth watering chicken (cold), the jelly clear noodles in chili sauce and dry hot pot. The pan fried pork buns, salt and pepper large shrimp and sautéed veggies were also solid. Definitely a great option if you're bringing a large group to share in a Sichuan feast. I definitely want to try the skewers next time!

Kendall L.

Yelp
I have been here two times now. And i just love the personality and charm it holds. Such a wide range of options for food from classics to more daring options. Definitely feels like a time capsule stuck in the early 2000s but that's sort of what I love about it. Never a wait and had the same server twice who is always hustling and has a great personality. We ordered off the dim sum and their cold noodle dish makes me want to go back every time !!! Great place to have weekly dinner with friends or a nice date night away from the hustle and bustle of Orlando tourist traps.

Yelp
If you're looking for looking for amazing food, with huge portions, and reasonable prices, this is THE place to be! We visited Chuan Lu at the lunch hour on a holiday, and it wasn't too busy (shocking once I get into how great the food was!) and we were sat immediately. The restaurant is very unassuming from the outside, but don't let that fool you. Their food is top tier, some of the best Chinese food I've ever had! We started with the wontons which were aaaamazing. I had tried them recently at their sister restaurant, Chuan Fu in Winter Park, and these are probably my favorite thing on the menu. Do yourself a favor.. and order these. We also tried the soup dumplings and they were pretty good! Almost burnt myself because they were so hot, but I did expect them to have a little more broth, and I ended up adding some chili oil to them to add some heat. Solid menu choice nonetheless! Now the entree.. I ordered their spicy chicken hand pulled noodle dish (the noodles are made in house!) and this dish was MASSIVE. Honestly it could feed an entire family, or at least 2-3 people. Huge portions, low price! It was around $14, giving you the most bang for your buck! I did have to wait a little while for the broth to cool down because it was sooo hot. But there were lots of veggies, noodles, and chicken. I asked for mine mild and ended up adding more chilli oil to it for some heat, so I think I could probably handle the normal spice level, but you are able to adjust it based on your preference. All in all this place is a solid choice for good eats with low prices! And great service as well.

Yelp
Had a delicious dinner here as usual. Ordered a few dishes to share family style. We always get La zi chicken. I enjoyed the salt and pepper fish. Our waitress was pretty good with service today.

Jo D.

Yelp
Dim sum is one of my favorite foods! They even had a robot to greet you and bring you your check when you're finished. I ordered a hot tea to start with, and it was very refreshing. The chive and shrimp dumplings were my favorite. The barbecue pork buns were loaded with meat and my family loved that. We ordered the spicy hot pot for the table and it was not my favorite. They used a lot of spicy peppers and you couldn't really taste the seasoning or the spice. It kind of just tasted like you were eating something very smoky. The dumplings in the chili sauce was a little disappointing. It lacked flavor and didn't taste fresh. We ended our meal with the lava buns and they were my second favorite. They were warm, fluffy, and the inside had a sweet yellow custard. It was a great way to end a meal! The restaurant was big, but there was a weird smell as soon as you walk in. The staff was nice.

Jenna H.

Yelp
We are huge fans of Chaun Lu at our house. Typically we dine in, and it's our tradition to visit pub Christmas Day. Service is always quick, and the food is fresh and delicious. I love the sour and spicy shredded potato dish, the Yang chow fried rice and the dan dan noodles. The La Zi chicken is a must try with the numbing sichuan peppers. They also have a great hot and sour soup. It's a little dark inside, but they have a robot that brings your check!

Yelp
I had been hearing that this was one of the best Chinese restaurants in town for a little bit now, so one day when I needed takeout, I decided to stop here and get some stuffff. I placed my order online, and then came over here to pick it up. The thing about Chinese food, you never order as much as you should have. You always want more. That fact will never change. I forget exactly what I ordered, but I got like five things and then just dived in with the misses. The short time I was in the restaurant, it was absolutely beautiful. Obviously decorated to feel very upscale and like the restaurants you see in the movies. Huge tables in huge rooms with huge lazy Susans on them. Very neat. So anyway, I think we got some sesame chicken as a main dish. Beautiful, orange color with not too much broccoli thank goodness. Crispy, sticky, just good. No issues here. Then I got a few dim sum items. Some sticky rice in a banana leaf, some fried dumplings, some steamed fluffy buns, and some classic pork/shrimp shumai. The rice was ooey and gooey, which might not sound nice to an amateur, but trust me, it was very nice. The fried dumpling, maybe skip it. The fluffy buns were the epitome of what you want in a fluffy bun. Very succulent pork with a great sauce, just so good. And same for the shumai, textbook. Overall, no complaints. I loved this place and will have to make it a point to come and try it dine-in next time!

Ashley L.

Yelp
We went here on a Saturday and the place was fairly busy. The food came out an hour after we ordered and not at all at once. I was excited for what I got since I ordered from the dim sum menu but the food was awful - dumplings were sticky and soggy, and buns had no flavor. We ended up cancelling the other items we ordered and left.

Jasmin T.

Yelp
If you are looking for a good szechuan food this will be a perfect place for you! I've always passed this place for years and never went in. One day, my friends and I decided to try this place and explored szechuan for the first time. It was amazing! We enjoyed our food and the staff are always nice! We have pretty much ordered every meal in the menu and everything was so good! Best szechuan in Orlando

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Giant portions. I got the braised eggplant, shuizhu beef with hot chili sauce, and peach oolong tea. Everything was pretty tasty, but the sauce on the beef is basically a pool of oil. It's served in a giant bowl filled with of oil. I ordered the peach tea at 25% sweet, but it was super sweet like a slurpy. I would get the eggplant again and would get the tea but order it zero sugar, and I would not get the beef again due to how oily it is.

Edward J.

Yelp
Its still good. So come here for some spice in your life. The dry hot pot dishes are the best here.

Joan B.

Yelp
Would definitely go again. There are just so many items to choose from. The service was also very welcoming abf helped with my decision for lunch.

Brittany N.

Yelp
Pros: They offer dim sum. Any place that offers the usual stuff And dim sum has my heart. Their fluffy buns are extremely fluffy, and there was ample amounts of pork inside, very yummy. We got take-out, and for each item, they had appropriate, unique to-go boxes for every thing. Very nice. Cons: I enjoyed the sesame chicken, but it tasted just a little too hole-in-the-wall and not enough elevated restaurant. That's just nitpicky, though. Everything was really delicious! Tip: Order more than you think you need, because you will want more, I promise.

Ricky D.

Yelp
Caution! This business has partnered with a notorious towing company to aggressively remove cars from their lot. My vehicle was towed just 10 minutes after parking in a lot that was approximately 90% empty, with no clear signage indicating that parking was exclusively for Chuanlu Garden customers. Other reviews confirm that I'm not the only victim of what appears to be a deliberate trap for quick profit. The tow truck's prompt arrival, despite the mostly vacant lot, highlights their proactive and ruthless approach to towing, aimed solely at generating fast cash. To make matters worse, this incident forced me to spend an hour in a notoriously unsafe area, waiting for the tow operator to open the garage and release my car.

Aleema R.

Yelp
I was craving dim sum and wanted to somewhere new. Upon entering Chuan Lu I was greeted by a cute robot, the lady programmed him to take me to my seat and then it went back to the front, very neat! To start I ordered chicken feet, hat gow, scallion pancakes, rice paper roll, everything was ok, nothing too crazy. I was still hungry so I ordered the cumin lamb and omg it was extremely spicy but the flavor was very good. I ate some and had to stop. For dessert I ordered the egg custard bun, sooo good! Overall, the experience was cute with all the robots but they need to deep clean.

Darapuneni M.

Yelp
Went in for just the soup and general tso chicken. Had a bad stomach after the meal. We were dubious upon entering the place as it smelled moldy and we were the only customers. Not going back.

Thomas P.

Yelp
The 3.5 star rating for this place is a travesty! This is easily one of the best Chinese restaurants in Orlando serving a wide variety of regional styles. It is also very authentic with most of the menu being not Chinese American dishes. But you can still find your Beef and Broccoli, you just have to look a little harder to find it. Their entrees are more family style. Each entree is large enough for 2 meals. I would really recommend getting 1 entree per 2 people and then supplement with appetizers, soups, dim sum, and a vegetable dish. You will be stuffed! Everything is top notch and presented very well. One thing that is different that you may see at more authentic asian restaurants is that the food comes out when its ready. Not apps, then soups, then entrees. Not everyone's entrees at the same time. Literally, when it's cooked, it comes out. So you kind of pick at the food a little by little until everything arrives. So this could be weird and off putting to some. But this is just normal for some Asian places and perhaps one of the reasons the star rating isn't higher. I haven't been everywhere in Orlando but this place is the real deal for authentic to Chinese American dishes. Go check it out and maybe try something adventurous!

LiLian B.

Yelp
Came in today for lunch. Very very slow. We were the only one seated around 1230pm but the service was slow. Our server was friendly but took a very long time for the food to be served. Soup dumplings were dry, siomai was OK, chicken feet had weird taste, steamed pork ribs OK. I've had my fair share of dimsum in California and this does not even come close to what we have there. Won't recommend.

Marisa V.

Yelp
What a great place! It's very dated inside and outside could use a fresh coat of paint. I knew as soon as we stepped in we were getting a good meal. The food we ordered was delicious I couldn't stop eating! I can't wait to go back. The service was good, she helped us decide what to order. Over all great meal.

Janny Y.

Yelp
First of all, great service. Super attentive. I love that there's a cute boba bar by the front entrance with bar seats. The koi pond is nice, could use some update and maybe more water. As for the foods, I had their pork boa and plum juice once at a culture festival and they were pretty good, so I figured I'll come and try the actual restaurant. I was glad that they were offering BOGO boba tea, BUT only 4 kinds of tea had the bogo deal; classic milk, honey milk, orange tea, & peach tea. No mix & match. Both the classic and the honey milk tea were bland compare to other milk tea I had. And, the boba it comes with is not the brown tapioca kind, it's crystal agar agar. Most of the food we ordered tasted ok. The dan dan noodle were lacking in flavor and none traditional toppings. I couldn't taste any sesame, mainly just salty with no preserved veggie or peanuts. The noodle texture was good though. The satay tripe, I didn't noticed the satay, just bit of saltiness. The soup dumpling were not soupy. I liked the roast duck, nice crispy skin and not overly salty. Shrimp dumplings and shumai pieces were big with fillings. I kind of hoped for better because I brought other family members along with my own. But it's cool that with 9 of us dining, they didn't automatically charged us tips, other places would have.

Allen Y.

Yelp
Came here for a late night Chinese dinner. Ordered a wide variety of dishes including beef noodle soup, chive dumplings, and roasted duck. Pros: fast service. We ordered on the phone while driving and the servers had our table set up and the food ready the minute we walked in. The have robot servers to take your dirty plate which was pretty neat. The noodles were fresh and the soup delicious Cons: the roasted duck was dry. The skin was crispy but I felt the meat was too dry and did not have the juicy profile roasted duck usually has. This could be due to the fact that we ate late and the duck was out all day. Overall, good noodles and dumplings. In terms of the duck, I was disappointed how dry it was.

Patrice R.

Yelp
Fun restaurant to visit with my family and young grand daughters. The service here is always good. My grand daughters especially enjoy the bao rolls (pork filled) and the egg drop soup. My favorite is the chicken fried rice but there are many entrees on the menu to satisfy everyone's cravings. Portion sizes are generous so there's enough to share or to take home for lunch the next day. Any time I've eaten here, the food is served fresh and hot in a timely manner. The prices are reasonable as well. The large goldfish pond and fountain keep my grand daughters occupied while waiting for a table. The hostess gives my grand daughters some fish food to feed the fish which delights the girls. The robot that delivers the check to the table is also a novelty to see. The restaurant could use some upgrades, particularly the rest rooms. The facilities are clean but very dated. This restaurant has become one of our family's favorite when we're in town. We'll be back!

Nick D.

Yelp
Food was not good. Has General TSO chicken and it was one of the worst I have had. We had something else which came on a warmer tray mixed meats and fish with a bunch of potatoes. That was not good. Food was floating in oil and it was very salty. Three stars as the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Restrooms were disgusting. We waited to get back on the turnpike to use a restroom. Men's room was that bad. Clean your restrooms! I can imagine how the kitchen looks.

Nick G.

Yelp
This place looks run down from the outside, like abandoned with old ass pics in the window but is actually really really good. My daughter wanted soup dumplings really bad so we saw this place had some so we went to check it out. ALL the food was really really good and perfect. Staff was funny as hell and nice as fuck. Even had a robot bring us the check and it sang happy birthday to an old guy . WORTH GOING! Don't let the outside fool you!!

Emily L.

Yelp
Just went to this restaurant for dim sum over the weekend. One of the dumpling dishes was not fully cooked. We told the waitress. She took the 2 dumplings in the bamboo basket and the plate with the 3rd dumpling away. Since it was not cooked, the 3rd dumpling was barely touched. Ten minutes later, she brought back only 2 dumplings. Guess what, it was the same 2 dumplings and still not cooked fully. Another problem was the order had 3 dumplings and they didn't even bother to bring back 3. We used to eat at this restaurant often. The portion size and quality of food have gone down hill. After this incident, will not return.

Dennise H.

Yelp
We actually parked right on Mills street to attend a different restaurant and they were closed. So my hubby decided a new location and so we arrived here! Immediately, I was thinking, the building looks old, smells old but to my surprise we were greeted by a robot that lead us to our table. Our server immediately arrived and gave us a menu. I immediately grabbed the dim sum menu and I was so surprised to see such a variety of items. We ordered wonton soup and about 4 dim sum items. They were pretty good but my favorite were the pork buns. You can never judge a book by it's cover but the food was really good, service was excellent, and we will definitely visit again! Oh, they had a very large entree menu and an amazing Bobo tea bar offering a BOGO deal. Our coconut drinks were swell too! If you love Asian cuisine, you'll love this place!

Yelp
We just left Chuan Lu Garden after another fabulous meal, dinner this time and we left with happy bellies and happy hearts. My bestie asked my husband, what is my most favorite restaurant in the area and he told her Chuan Lu Garden. So they brought me here to celebrate my birthday month. Yes, I love this place not just for the delicious food but for the extremely warm hospitality. Since it is Saturday today I found out our favorite hostess Brenda is not working today. Joyce was our server today and my gosh, what a pleasant and kind human being she is! It was raining out; she saw my husband was soaking wet as he dropped us off at the door, parked and came in so right away she gave him a towel to dry off. My daughter was not feeling too well so hubby wanted to go to a drug store to pick something for her, Joyce walked him out the door to show him exactly where CVS was. When my friends arrived my husband was worried about where they parked but Joyce walked out with them to assure them that where they parked was perfectly fine. She gave us plenty of time to decide what to order and made some helpful suggestions to our usual favorites. We ordered quite a bit of food today and she brought us everything we needed. Food was delicious as always. She knows my kids loves the Robot kitty so she sent him to our table for the second time. Finally when we had walked out of the restaurant, she came running behind us and brought my favorite pair of sunglasses that I had forgotten in my chair! Seriously this place has always been my favorite, but it is even more now because of Joyce and her amazing service!

Yelp
We first came to love Chuan Lu Garden when they opened a second location closer to us. We knew from our first visit that this was authentic Chinese and frequented it often until it closed. But just because our location closed, that doesn't mean we can just live without their amazing Sichuan Wontons, so we have made the short ride to the Mills 50 area to go to their original location. Craving all things Sichuan last week, we found ourselves at Chuan Lu and every dish was new to us aside from the wontons. We ordered a cold noodle appetizer, pork buns (had elsewhere, but never here) and an amazing beef dish that was so flavorful and the perfect amount of spiciness. Wow, their pork buns were soooooooo good. I highly recommend getting the Sichuan wontons any time you go. And take your time checking out the menu. There are so many options including the "American" Chinese dishes, but the real appeal is in getting to try something you'd never see on the menu at 90% of the Chinese places in town. One of my first jobs as a teenager was working as a hostess at a long standing Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh. Every night the kitchen prepared a huge meal for the whole front and back of house towards the end of the night. There was never any General Tso's, Pork Lo Mein, or anything I'd eaten before. This was the first time I ever experienced or realized that everything I'd eaten before was just the typical dishes we see served here to cater to our preferences. Please, please, please do yourself a favor and some try something here that you've never heard of. There are pictures of most (if not all) of the dishes so you can get a pretty good idea of what you're getting into. And if you're not sure, ask your server. They're very friendly and accommodating. GO AND ENJOY!!!

Yelp
This is one of our favorite Chinese Restaurants at which to dine. There used to be a Chuan Lu Garden in East Orlando (soon to be a Jollibee) and we used to patronize that location pretty often. The location close to the Mills/50 intersection and although it might not look like you can park easily, there's a decent sized lot in the back. They know how to flavor their food. If you are tired of bland food, eat here. The Szechuan Wontons are some of the best in the area. When we get in the mood for these, this is one of our choices. You get about a dozen dumplings in a moderately spicy Szechuan pool of oily red lusciousness. I'm glad there are 12 as if there was an odd number, there would have been a fight for the last one. Once I discovered Mapo Tofu on a trip to NYC, I had to find it in Orlando. I tried a few other places and many missed the mark (sorry Peter's Kitchen), but Chuan Lu does it right! I've ordered without Pork to make it meatless and it is still so satisfying and flavorful. They have so many options we want to try. Everything from amazing appetizers, BBQ skewers, a variety of soups, hot pots, dumplings, noodle dishes, frog legs, pork elbows, tofu pudding, fish, shrimp and so many dishes you're not going to find at your run-of-the-mill local takeout joint. Just look at the pictures of this place and you know you're getting authentic Chinese cuisine, or at the very least, non-americanized. We will definitely be back and enjoy dining inside the spacious restaurant and leave with our mouths tingling.

Yelp
Highly recommended! THE BEST Chinese food in Orlando. We by accident came into this restaurant. We originally planned to go to EDOBOY SUSHI nearby. But they were fully booked. We decided to give it a try. What a surprise! Very authentic Chinese food. Service is friendly too.

Yelp
We had: - squid skewer- my least favorite but it was still good. Dry rub on it I didnt love but it was cooked nicely and not rubbery at all - lamb skewer- very good. In a similar dry rub but worked well for the meat. - meatball dim sum- strange consistency but my bf loved it - soup dumplings- wish they had a little less wonton and more soup but the taste was very good - 5 spice eggplant- SO GOOD. So much flavor! Also had peppers, scallions, and Woodear mushrooms. Obsessed with the sauce! - Dan Dan noodle- super delicious!! Hand pulled noodle in a flavorful peanut sauce with "spicy pork" (wasn't spicy but full of flavor) - lava egg bun- not lava/liquidy like I've seen at other places but the perfect sweet treat at the end of the meal. All in- loved it! So many other things I want to try in the future.

Yelp
Probably the best Chinese food I've had in Orlando. It's comparable to the quality of food you might find in San Francisco. The prices are also all reasonable for their size. The orange chicken was delicious, so were the baked pork buns. The steamed pork and cabbage dumplings were not my favorite, but I could see them being better if they were pan fried. It was just my boyfriend and I, but it is definitely a good place to go to with a large group.

Yelp
I visited with friends for dinner and had a great experience! There was plenty of seating, and the staff were very kind and even open to speaking in Mandarin Chinese. We loved the cute robots that escorted us to the table and brought the check. We ordered the eggplant ($13), garlic pea shoots ($15), and many dim sum dishes ($4-6 each) which overall tasted delicious. The pea shoots were flavorful and not too salty, but they were hard to chew and could be cooked longer. The soup dumplings/xiaolong bao were difficult to eat because the bottom parts got stuck to the tiny dishes they sat in. We also had to ask for condiments like soy sauce and chili oil. Overall, the food tasted decent, and we were impressed with the menu and the huge variety. I will definitely be back to try other things! It's also nice that the restaurant is near many local Asian grocery stores and boba shops.

Yelp
On my first trip to China I was shocked to know that in the USA we don't eat much that is truly Chinese. Cooking in Chinese cities and in the countryside is far more complex. After returning I couldn't eat "American" Chinese food for nearly a year. I can cook and was able to get some recipes but sometimes you just want to go out and get some food, right? Another Yelper gave me a tip recently to check this place out on E Colonial. When I arrived I was warmly greeted and seated in a comfy booth. This is a very nice restaurant and I got a booth right next to a statue of a horse and driver. My drink order was taken and promptly delivered. For my meal I ordered hot and sour soup and Peking duck. My soup arrived in a reasonable amount of time and boy it looked and smelled wonderful. To my further delight it was very spicy but not so much where it defeated the sour. Too many hot and sour soup is not spicy at all. It was packed with tasty ingredients and to date the closest to what I ate in Beijing. Peking duck is one of my favorites and in China there are a few places still in business today that have been specializing in this dish for over a hundred year to nearly 600 years. Did I expect the same quality, no but they did deliver quality. My duck came with bao buns, scallions, cucumber, and hoisin sauce. The duck itself had wonderful color, juicy, and the skin was very crispy. After my meal my check was delivered by their handy server robot. It brings, drinks, food, and checks while playing music and when it gets to your table it talks to you. A great experience and later this week I will be back to dive deeper into their specialties that you don't find on many other menus. The do have the usual stuff too and I hear they do it well. You can find those specials on the last page.

Yelp
The service is attentive without being obtrusive, friendly, and knowledgeable, and if there's a problem, it's taken care of immediately. The food is absolutely outstanding... Each dish is better than the next. Peanut, the lil robot who seats you, is a great addition to fantastic ambiance. I also love RoboKitty who brings you your check

Yelp
Kudos to Chuan Lu, not only for their fabulous La Zi chicken and Stir-fried Pea Shoots with Garlic, but for their considerate handling of the Christmas Day crowd this year! Chuan Lu is my takeout go to for their La Zi Chicken-moist, schezuan spicy and super flavorful, and the Pea Shoots are really tasty, with a nice amount of garlic.

Yelp
Food taste pretty good. We got the beef and broccoli with general Tso chicken. The pork fried rice was mushy and almost inedible however the chicken lo mein was delicious. The Resturaunt has a weird smell of casino smoke when you walk in. The bathrooms aren't the nicest and are in need of some tlc. Overall for the price you can't beat it. We Probally won't come back here for a while just wanted to to try something new. Service was okay. Waitress was attentive.

Yelp
I'll start by saying the service was friendly and prompt, so the rest of the review isn't a reflection on the front staff, but we had a pretty disappointing meal here. The buns from the steamed pork buns were dry and near inedible (I had one bite of the casing and discarded the rest), and the filling was minimal. The pork and chive dumplings had enough filling but the casing was way too thick. The fried rice was fine and so was the beef with hot red pepper, but nothing I'd return for. The restaurant can definitely do with a facelift as well. Overall, I don't think I'd be back. I'd give 2.5 stars if I could.

Yelp
Chuan Lu Garden Orlando Chicken & Broccoli- The veggies were fresh, crisp, and the sauce wasn't too much. The way Chinese food should be in my option. Both the white and fried rice were good, with nice texture and flavor. Beef Skewer- The beef skewer was a miss for me, the meat was tough and oily. The seasoning didn't seem to go well with the meat. Scallion Pancakes- Hot, fresh, delicious. Cooked nicely, and evenly which I feel is uncommon.

Yelp
Came here after a long day at Universal with my family. We have already worked up an appetite. I have been here before but they were on a different corner. I think that this is a great place to come with family because they offer family style dishes. We order 11 dishes. I can't remember all of the names but they were delicious. The service was great, they were able to bring out all the dishes quickly. If you're in the Orlando area, I recommend coming here for lunch or dinner. The cute little robot will take you to your table, that was probably one of the best parts of the restaurant.

Yelp
This place had been very dirty. The food was not as expected. Service was very slow waited about 15 minutes for the check. Would not come back.

Yelp
We can on a weekday lunch and it was pretty busy for a weekday!! We were sat by Peanut the robot hostess after only a few minutes of cleaning our table. The menu is really really detailed with LOTS of options, all reasonably priced. The portions were very generous as well! We got so many dumplings with our favorite being the pork and chives, the pork fried rice, and the sesame buns! All of the dim sum came out back to back in a quick fashion. I would love to come back and get more.

Yelp
Second time visiting. Got 2 lunch specials. Actually pretty pricey for what you get. Chicken and broccoli, different flavor than your standard but seemed like a small portion. Wonton soup was okay, nothing amazing. The spring roll was good, extra crispy, but the filling was interesting felt like mashed potatoes and not the standard cabbage. Husband ordered mapo tofu lunch. Tofu was great had a good heat and really enjoy the peppercorn only issue is ordered the hot and sour soup and it wasn't in the order. We ordered for pick up and didn't check the order, foolish. Inside is nice few spots for sitting. Would be open to give it another try.

Yelp
Pros: Pork fried rice was solid even though the rice was a little undercooked. Good portion size for the price. Friendly service. Cons: Szechuan dishes I ordered were underwhelming and bland. I ordered: Mao style pork - the flavor was just ok. The meat of the pork itself was very dry and hard. Chicken wing skewers- this has some dry rub on it but it was completely flavorless. ShuiZui beef - the beef itself was ok. There was a weird taste to it - tasted like the baking soda they probably used to tenderize it. The chili sauce the beef was served in had over an inch deep of oil then you got to the sauce...it was very off putting. I also did not get that tingling sensation that I wanted. I would not waste my $$ here again. If you want Szechuan food, go to Taste of Chengdu. Now, if I wanted pork fried rice and this was the only place close by, I'd get that but only that.
