A very home syle family restaurant. The burger is not "5 guys greasy". They are flavorful. The tots are crispy and the sweet potato fries are seasoned with a little kick. The hostess is down home friendly and the service is fast. Oh, and the banana pudding is a addition.

EXTREMELY RECOMMEND this Chub Father’s location! I truly love this location because of the environment, service, staff and food! The owner (Chub Father himself) has been at this location twice out of the 4 visits we’ve made here (it’s quite a drive from where we live). His presence really makes it worth the trips and so does the food! I’m telling you, for the quality and amount of the food you are receiving it matches their prices. So come on by make a visit to this location, and I promise, you’ll make this place a weekly must!

Upon entry, little confused about where to go. Staff noticed quickly and assisted Us in the process. Plentiful menu options. Settled on the Zydeco burger and my wife got a Curd burger. Absolutely amazing burgers. We also got an order of loaded cheese fries that were amazing. The sauce on them elevated this dish from good to "can't get enough". Definitely a go-to when in the area. And I love the mission on what the restaurant was founded for. Definitely read the sign explaining the "Feed the people" initiative.

We ordered takeout. Wings that came with tots. 1. The wings were alright, decent size, good flavor. 2. The TOTS WERE incredible. Their unique seasoning is Sooo tasty.

Stopped by on the way home from Florida and my husband said this will be the place we stop every trip to come. Phenomenal service and great food!!

First time here. Got the Pit Stop burger, no bun, no lettuce. Was UH-MA-ZING. No wimpy fries here- crispy outside, melt in your mouth inside with GREAT seasoning. Fantastic music. Will definitely be back.

I’m a B I G G G FOODIE always looking for locally owned restaurants in any area if I’m out and about. This restaurant stood out as far as the reviews, so why not give it a try. Entering the establishment I was welcomed with friendly and helpful feedback from employees of the many menu options. Settled on a few options of choice just on curiosity. I ordered the Fried Pickles, the Zydeco Burger with side, and an order of Fried Fish. Overall overview…. Everything was fresh and cooked to order. Only CON about food is that the food tasted OVERLY SEASONED (Spice/Salt). The 3 items received all tasted as if everything was seasoned with the same thing. Would consider again …sometimes your first choice is not always your best but it’s good to take the risk and try.

Awesome! I was visiting Alabama & decided to try Chubbfathers. The food & customer service was amazing! I especially loved the fried okra!

My family and I love this place! The food is amazing. I do feel like prices are a little high, but then again, so is everything else in this economy; at least you get great food. We have been to places where they're not as expensive, but the food isn't nearly as great. We are frequent customers, and they only messed up once, but as soon as we called, not only did they fix it, but also offered to deliver it. You don't get customer service like that anymore, so it's worth every penny to us!

It's been awhile since I've tried Chubb Father's so recently, I decided to check them out. As soon as I pulled up to the parking lot, I could tell it was packed. But as soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated. I do appreciate them being proactive and professional enough to let us know because of the busyness, that it would take our order longer than usual to prepare. And while we were waiting, they continued to check on us and keep us posted with the status of our order, which again, I really appreciate. I decided to try their hamburger steak with green beans, okra, and cabbage. By the time we placed and paid for our order and were seated, that's when we were told that they had run out of okra, so I decided to try their mac n cheese. The food was pretty decent. It was served fresh, but was a little lackluster to me. The hamburger steak was somewhat burned in spots and the cabbage was unrecognizable until I tasted it. The mac n cheese was your typical mac n cheese. I noticed the restaurant also has TVs, which is great since football season is gearing up, but unfortunately they didn't work because something was going on with the power. I really like this restaurant because of their cleanness and the service. Even though my food was just subpar, I am going to continue to support Chubb Father's. Next time, I'll just stick to their burgers.

Okay just a cool hidden gem in Alabaster with great food and good people. However it's not a huge restaurant. So depending on your party size you could have to wait to be seated. You can dine-in, or call ahead and pick up your order. They always greet you with a friendly hello and smile. Now the menu will not disappoint. I've tried the fish several times. Always pleased. Sweet potatoe fries always cooked just right hot and crispy. At this point I just want to try a little of everything on the menu.

Traveling to Destin, we Yelped restaurants from our hotel. We picked Chubbfather out of all and wow!! The food rocked and everyone was so nice The girls from Cincinnati say hi!!

Everything was delicious!! Best Cheesesteak I have ever had!! Even the fries and tots were seasoned up special Great place for kidos as well as they have lots of options for the kids. We will be back the next time we come anywhere near Alabaster!

Clean your fucking flattop, bro. Look at those burnt pieces. Your sloppy joes are GOOD but they'd be better if the grill was clean. Stop giving me burnt food! Same with that egg on the Pit Stop burger. Always has black particles that I do NOT want to see on a fried egg. CLEAN. YOUR. FLATTOP. Twice a day. It's not hard. Make it part of your process. smfh.

Sometimes you just want a good local burger. Most of their burgers are specialty burgers, so don't think you're going to get just a plain burger or cheeseburger. However, if that's what you really want, they'll get it done for you. A favorite in my house is the Zydeco burger. We do get it with no lettuce or tomato, just because the bacon, horseradish sauce, and onion straws can stand on their own to make this a good burger. Staff is nice; usually busy with a number of meal delivery services coming in to get orders. But if you order the old fashioned way to go, they'll offer to bring it out to the car.

I was on this side of town today and decided to give it a try since I remember seeing it on my yelp. I ordered the Cajun cheesesteak po'boy with sweet potato fries. It was not good. The meat is supposed to be blackened and it tasted burnt with no flavor. The fries were bad as well. They were soft and greasy and kinda salty. I wish they used the seasoning on the fries on the meat instead because it isn't salt. It's like a season blend and fries don't need All that. I feel like I should've ordered something else. If I go back I will order something totally different. The customer service was fine but the interaction was quick. I ordered and she asked me if wanted to sit in or in my car and she bought it out to me.

Best burgers ever! Always delicious and prepared to order. Great customer service too. I love their involvement with the community too.

Not sure how these ratings get this high. We went to the old place once and didnt like it And have been to the new location twice and same experience. 1.The catfish wassnt drained before battering and was full of Slimy watery pockets. 2. The peas tasted just like the metal can and had NO Seasoning At All. 3. The suash had no seasoning and was just Blahhh ! 4. The $13 dollar lunch was setved on a 7 in styrophome plate that you couldnt cut food on. 5 Cashier claimed he would bring our tea And didnt so I went up and had a lady get me some but she only had One then once back at my table the guy came and took it and said it was someone elses tea ????????????? And actually took it to them ....gimme a break.... 6 No one asked us how the food was OR If we wanted any refill on the tea So I had to seek it out and pour my own. REALLY Dissapointed And this is about the same as the last visit. 7. WE Will NOT Be Back for a third try !!! and its overprices for what you get !

In town visiting our son and stopped in to check it out! Absolutely amazing! Off the beaten path a little but well worth it! My son told his roommates it's the place for them to go!!

Harley was exceptional! She explained all the sandwiches and made great suggestions. Sorry no photos because I ate it all. I had the sloppy sliders( have mercy) and my wife had the chicken sandwiches! We will for certain be back for more!

Always great! I recommend them to everyone that visits from out of town. Best owner, best management, great community work, feed the people! A real Birmingham, Alabaster staple! The best by far! Stopped by Chubbfather's to pick up burger and fries for dinner! Counter service was quick and efficient. Food came out within 10 minutes. I got the Chubba with sweet potato fries! Burger was cooked to a nice medium well, juicy and tasty. Large patty with a toasted buttered bun. Cheese was hot and melted, bacon was crisp. Overall an excellent burger! Sweet potato fries or any fries are hard to review with any take out order, due to the fact that they get steamed in the foam clamshell. Nice flavor but again they were soggy. Will definitely be back, burger was great and service was excellent. Will try dine in next time so I can judge the fries! Thanks for a great burger!

Found on Yelp, you have to order when you walk in, then if you eat in then they give you a table tent number. Not super friendly staff but not rude. My family has never eat here and didn't know how anything about them so gave them a chance 2 adult meals ( sandwich and side) 1 kids ( sandwich and side) 1 water 1 soda and 1 kids soda and a appetizer came to about $57, to me a little high for me has a dinner style place, all things given was is disposable, cup, knife, fork etc. okra was over cooked, the slider are pre made paddies that they cut in have and put on slider bun. The salt taste was over the top, on all The food. I actually stopped eating my fries because one bite was like pouring salt straight in my mouth. Inside is not keep up, walls and floors are wore, decor reminds me of stuff my single guy friends have up has decor and looks like to cleaned just has much the dirt on things was thick floor in some spots was sticky, I should of knew when you see the outside of the building. Awning was ripped and missing, doors has tape on doors, it needed a lot of work. I won't be back and I wouldn't recommend these place.

One of the best restaurants I've ever had in Alabama! Customer service is the best I've ever experienced! The food was amazing, they did an amazing job with my chicken philly and they had us waiting no time at all. The restaurant is in a cozy setting that just compliments the food! 10/10 experience!

Absolutely one of the BEST burgers I've ever had in my entire life! This was my first time trying it. My lady that took my order was so nice and hilarious. Since it was my first time, she gave me a few of the favorites and I chose the Chubba burger meal. WOW is all I can say. I got my food fast and it was hot and fresh. Fries were also so delicious. Ambiance was great. I will definitely go here again anytime I'm in town.

Chubbfathers is fantastic!!! Never had anything that wasn't delicious. Portions are generous and always fresh. Highly recommend. 10/10

The food is phenomenal especially if you like a good ole southern fried menu. We order routinely and the service is always above par! We don't get out to enjoy the ambiance much at Chubbfathers, but we have and it's exactly what you expect!

We stopped by here for dinner and I must say we were pleased. I had the chubba burger. It was pretty good. I wouldn't say it was the best burger that I have had, but it was one of the better ones for sure. I'd give the service 2 thumbs up. You order at the counter and take a number, then seat yourself. The staff checked on us multiple times without being annoying, which is something that I like at this kind of place. It wasn't super fancy, but it was good for a burger place. There were multiple football games on the TV so that's good if that's your thing. The place was pretty quiet. I would definitely eat here again.

When I'm craving a cheeseburger this is my go to. Their burgers and fries are always on spot. Fried okra amazing seasoning. Everything on the menu is delicious. Fried just right never greasy. Staff always prompt and friendly. Clean and spacious.

Have been here a few times, really since their first location years ago. It's just not th3 same quality. Cheeseburger ok but too salty. Had the Philly Cheese and it was awful. Meat seemed over cooked, cheese too salty. Probably won't be back after our last visit. Service is always exceptional, good folks.

Chubbfathers delivered tonight (literally). We both got the Zydeco Burger and it was so good. They're burgers are consistently delicious. I got the fried pickles and he got the tots and we shared. Both were great especially after being delivered, sometimes they get soggy from other restaurants. Anyways, chubbs is our go-to burger spot in alabaster. We love this place.

I love the fully dressed shrimp po' boy! I can not wait to try more items now that they are on Door Dash!

This was the meal of choice for a birthday meal. We got curbside service for 5 meals. The primary reason for the choice was the Zydeco burger; it's a bacon cheeseburger topped with Cajun horseradish and onion straws. A side of fried okra--and it makes for quite the belly-busting satisfaction you'd expect. Most of the rest of the party enjoyed various burgers. The only caveat may be that all the Chubbfather burgers are all about the add-ons. So if you have someone who just wants a plain burger with few toppings, you kind of just have to pick one and request which toppings to leave off. Probably makes it a little difficult on Chubb's to make sure every one is correct, but the one or two little blips were easy to correct at the dinner table with family. And lastly was the cheese steak. Good stuff with a nice soft bun and plenty of cheese. By the time we all finished our sandwiches and included sides (most chosen were the seasoned fries), and we barely had room for birthday cake! Might be nice to perhaps have an option to get just the sandwich without a side for maybe a buck less or something. You will not meet nicer people, though. The owner and staff have earned every kudo they've gotten not just for the fantastic food they serve up each day but for the "Feed the People" campaign and attitude they live by each day. Huge asset to the culinary landscape and the community at large.

When you visit, try the Zydeco burger. Trust me. You will not be disappointed with it. The restaurant is clean. The staff is friendly and you'll be treated like family.

our first visit to this rest is certainly NOT our last! The burgers were delicious and the customer service was superb! The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The cheese curd burger was the bomb! I cannot wait to go back!

You won't find a better burger in Alabama! The Cajun horseradish is must! Friendly people, and always willing to serve the community when there is a need. Bring a non perishable and get a free drink.

My family eats or orders takeout a few times a month at Chubbfathers. The food is always great and last night was no exception. Two orders of wings cooked great with tots and loaded cheese fries. Also two orders of buffalo chicken fries which were also great. If you haven't ordered or upgraded your regular fries to the loaded cheese fries then you are missing out! They are incredible. I will also say my family is very picky and has several special requests when we order and they are almost always received the way we ask. They also support your local Thompson High School sports teams which is a bonus. See you next time!

Great burger with sweet potato fries! I had the zydeco Burger which comes with cheese, bacon, onions and a horseradish type sauce (and a referral to a cardiologist ), with well crisped and seasoned sweet potato fries. Both were delicious, and at about $12 quite a good value. They do offer specials, and I was given a free beverage since this was my first time visiting. The process is ordering at the front of the restaurant, and food is brought to the table (it appears they also have an active takeout business). The front desk cashier - I believe her name is Caressa has an energetic demeanor, and was quite helpful in processing and delivering the order. In terms of finding the location, their signage is a little less than ideal, since they're in a strip center with no street signage. They're on route 31 south, next to beauty nails and spa, and alfa insurance. I'd highly recommend Chubbfathers for the burgers, and now that I know where it is I'll likely come back to try either the wings, seafood or po boys.

The service is awesome as usual and the food is usually really good but avoi the pork chops and mashed potatoes. they were not good at all.

Outstanding service, delicious burgers, amazing fried okra!! So glad I looked y'all up. This was my first trip in the area to visit a client. I took one of the chemists who fell in love with the Shrimp Po'boy!! I had the double Zydeco Burger with fried okra. I am still having dreams of that burger!! I cannot wait to stop in again!! Wish y'all were in VA!

I have been planning on visiting for a while, and finally got a chance. I ordered the chub burger and tots. I thought the tots were way overcooked. The chubburger was too sweet for my taste.

Delicious food! Great service! Please open more locations! I know that they just had to make the hard decision to close their other location in Chelsea. I have been here a few times in the past two years and the food never seems to disappoint. It's always tough to choose what to order. The burgers are so filling, my personal favorite is the pit stop. I love the fried egg in it! My husband loves the cheesesteak and the chubba burger. The chicken philly is another favorite as well. The wings are great and we love the sweet potato fries and fried okra. I think that it's exciting to be able to see them on upcoming game days at Alabama. I wish them much success!

I went to Chubbfather's Saturday for supper. All my usual dining-mates had other plans so I was on my own. There were a few people in line when I got there. Some were picking up to-go orders, some were picking up Grubhub orders and some were like me: in line to order food. I needed time to look over the menu so I stepped out of line. When I stepped back in line one of the cashiers (there were two) noticed, and knew I'd been there longer than some of the Chubby come Latelies and beckoned me over to give my order, which was nice. I got the Vulcan po' boy, all the way. Steak, sausage, onions, Cajun horseradish (I checked to see how spicy it was, since I'm a wimp) and I don't can't remember what else. I selected potato salad for my side. They took my name and gave me my drink and a number placard to put on my table. Then I waited for my food. And waited. And waited some more. There weren't a lot of people dining in, but there were doing a booming take out business. I don't know how many people had called in orders before I arrived (or after I got there, as far as that goes). It took 27 minutes for my food to arrive. Once upon a time that would have me fuming. But times are different now. The last four places I ate told me upfront that they due to the pandemic they were short staffed and wait times were longer than usual. I don't know if that's the case at Chubbfather's, but I have no reason to believe Covid 19 stops at their door. Is it inconvenient to wait half an hour for my food? Yes. Given the plague that's affecting Alabama right now, is that a first world problem? Hell, yes. Let's keep on waiting and see how the rest of the meal goes. The food came out and the spice level was right on the edge of what I can tolerate, I enjoyed the sammich but I took frequent sips of my soda. Two different folks came out frequently to check on how I was doing and provide refills. Maybe the sammich makers were short staffed/overly busy, but the front of the house folks were on the job. I can't say if the potato salad was made in house or came from a tub, but it was NOT your run of the mill potato salad that you get at nine out of ten sandwich shops or restaurants. Bonus points for the potato salad. So...points for being recognized by the cashier. Points for the tasty sandwich and tasty salad. Points for the attentive staff who kept my soda cup filled and checked on my frequently. Minus points for the wait. Three out of four ain't bad. I give Chubbfather's a thumbs up.

How have I not heard of this place before? A friend told me about it while we were in the area and so we stopped in to get a bite. Warning...the double burger is massive. Don't order it unless you plan of eating 2/3lb of meat in one sitting. If that is your plan, then feel free to delight in the fresh cooked, greasy deliciousness that is this massive burger. They've got a variety of things on the menu ranging from burgers and fries/tots to po-boys. The portions are huge, the prices are good and they don't start cooking your food until you order it so it comes out fresh and piping hot. Great example of an elevated grease pit type situation. Definitely worth it to stop in and give them a try.

Tried the deluxe burger with loaded fries and both were heavenly! Can't wait to go back!
