We’re visiting from Georgia and stopped by while exploring the New Orleans, Louisiana area — and we are so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was outstanding. The lady at the register was super friendly and incredibly helpful. She patiently explained the menu to us, and even let us see and sample the shrimp étouffée since we had never heard of it before. My husband tried it and absolutely loved it! I ordered the fried chicken, and let me tell you — it was the freshest and most flavorful chicken I’ve ever had. The red beans and rice were rich and comforting, and the biscuits? They melt in your mouth — absolutely amazing! My husband had the catfish with red beans and rice, sausage, and the étouffée. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the portions were generous enough that we even had leftovers for dinner. Thank you for the warm welcome and truly delicious food. You made us feel right at home. We’ll definitely be telling our friends and family about this gem!

The biscuit was soft, fluffy, buttery, and impossibly fresh—one of the best I’ve had in the city. The white beans were comforting and flavorful; a touch more seasoning would make them perfect. My family enjoyed the meal just as much. Dad’s shrimp dinner was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor, while Mom’s two-piece chicken hit all the right notes. Portion sizes were generous, and the food felt freshly made from start to finish. Service was exceptional. Mrs. Melissa, even while being hurt, delivered professional, attentive, and friendly service that enhanced the experience. A big shout-out to her and the new ownership team, whose leadership keeps this restaurant thriving while honoring its legacy. This was first worst experience at this place, this place had currently switched to new owners or whatever and theses new people giving out moldy bread and when you call they either talk over you or say the bread brunt. But how can bread be burnt that was never toasted make it make sense. Bring the old owner back pleaseeee and thank you

I haven't been here in years. They used to have the best food around. My mother and I went there around 5pm today and ordered 2 hot sausage poboys and a hamburger poboy dressed. The poboys were horrible. They were supposed to be dressed with mayo, lettuce,tomatoes, and pickles. All the poboys had 1 and half tomatoes, very little lettuce, 2 pickle slices and no mayo. The poboys were dry, and the meats were overcooked and had no flavor. The prices of the poboys were already high, but when we paid with a credit card we had to pay an extra fee because we used a credit card. If we are going to pay that kind of money for poboys we expect it to be very good, and it was not good at all. We were very upset and disappointed.

I've been hearing about this place for a while & finally decided to give it a try. The chicken was fried to perfection however it's very mild in flavor. If you like highly seasoned chicken with a spicy kick this isn't it, but for mild it was good. The onion rings were on point, the gumbo was good but not grandma good, everything else was just ok for me. Mashed potatoes & rice dressing just ok. But try it for yourself this is just my experience. Ad for customer service excellent they were very nice and attentive.

I was ultra disappointed with my order from Chubbies. No seasoning, no flavor. I was complete disbelief because I don’t remember it being this bland. The onion rings were fresh. No salt or seasoning but fresh. Hence the 2 stars. I found the young man at the window very polite. But.. oil of the chicken tasted old. Even the biscuit (which I previously LOVED omg) even that was hard. I don’t know if I came at the wrong time, if there is a new chef, recipe or owner.. but this was surprisingly bad.

You dont got to Chibbies for the decor your there for the chicken. Chubbie's like our live oaks, has roots that run deep in our neighborhood. Come on over, say hi and pick up a great meal. You can't miss with ANYTHING on the menu 😋

I purchased a fish/shrimp/oyster platter and there was a spork with green stuff on it and it appeared as if someone was using it, as well as the roll that looked like someone bit off of it with that same green stuff on it. It was a waste of $27 because of course I did not eat it. The store would have been closed before it could make it back so I tried to call, no one answered and it says the VM is full. Because of my work hours and their store hours I knew I would not make it there in time the next day to speak with someone, so I've been calling all day and receiving the same results. No one answers and the VM is full. Their food is normally good and not being able to contact them by phone at all is weird.

If you love fried chicken, this is one of the places to put on your list! Chicken always comes out hot! They are pretty quick on service!

I've ordered from this place five more times since leaving the Review and the food was horrible. I don't recommend this place at all anymore. They need new management and new cooks.

Better than Popeyes! This was only my second time at Chubbie's; I went through drive-thru. I ordered a 2 pc white with mac n cheese and an extra biscuit. I did not have to wait long for my food. Chicken was fried hard, juicy, and seasoned well. Their biscuits are great. If you are ever on the Bestbank, I would give them a try.

I love going to Chubbie's because they are one of the few places where i can get fried livers and gizzards. They fry them to order and they are delicious. The price is good too.

Things just keep getting better under new ownership. Food is super fast and tastes better than ever!

After many many years I finally tried the famous Chubbie's. Now the chicken was really flavorful but everything I had was cold. The wing was like it was straight out of the fridge. I was disappointed because the chicken, biscuit and fries were really good and in spite of the old grease unfortunately. The biscuit was a little on the greasy side but it didn't take away from the flavor. I found the breast to have a little spice to it which wasn't bad at all. I definitely will be giving this place another try. If you're in the area, try it out.

I'm not sure what happened, but I ordered a 2 piece white with fries and a biscuit for lunch and my chicken was BURNT! I could not eat the skin at all and I love the crunchy parts. The fries were not seasoned at all. I have never had problems with food here in the past, I'm hoping it was just a bad day. I couldn't finish my food because of the burnt chicken and unseasoned fries, so of course money was wasted. The biscuit, however, is still delicious.

Excellent, excellent fried chicken! I live in Gretna but originally born and raised in North Carolina. When I found out they do fried chicken gizzards I was elated! Chubbies Chicken rocks people!!

Cubbies is the best chicken ever! It is always fresh, hot and juicy! The chicken is not greasy, the breast is large and the crust is crispy. They have the best buttery biscuits and the onion rings are so light; your taste buds will dance! You may have to wait in a long drive thru line but it is worth the wait!

I was able to eat two times from this plate! It's a great price for the amount of food you get. I'm not a huge fan of read beans, so I have to be in the mood for them. I was intent on having red beans today and these are perfect! Seasoned very well and not too salty. The shrimp are a good size and crispy! Everything was hot and fresh!

I do NOT recommend. The food quality has gone down recently but not too bad. The service has gone straight to trash. A three piece takes 25 mins. The times don't improve regardless of drive thru or order at the counter. Calling in is more of a joke because they don't start until you walk in. Again....I DO NOT recommend.

This is great chicken. It's very well seasoned, lightly battered and fried to perfection. Just one more thing to keep me on that treadmill. True story, I was on an errand in this neighborhood and when I saw the line, I made a quick u-turn in the middle of the road and headed back. I saw folks eating this food in their cars and work vehicles. I said to myself, self, this must be some good ole fashioned fried chicken. Self said, let's try it. Placing my order, I asked a lady eating in her car how was it and she handed me a wing lol. It was great, so I ordered the wings, white beans and it comes with a biscuit. Not a fan of the white beans but I went back and tried their red beans and they were excellent. Now I see why the line was so long and people couldn't wait to eat it lol. It's certainly worth the wait but their line moves pretty good.

Some of the best fried chicken in New Orleans. A little hole in the wall, maybe an old Tastee Donuts with only a couple of tables but the chicken reminds me of how I remember Jim's on Carrollton.

I just ordered the 5pc chicken wing w/a biscuit meal. Ate two wings. The seasoning was good and the crunch just right. Picked up a third wing and there was a long piece of dust hanging from it like it fell on the floor, was picked up and put right into my basket. I tried to call the restaurant several times but just get a busy signal. No more Chubbies for me!

Ordered the Shrimp poboy today it was delicious and overstuffed. Will be going back for this poboy .

Food is always hot and fresh, but you might have to wait a while for it! The chicken is just as good as Popeyes' if not better!!!

Chubbie's is probably the best fried chicken in New Orleans on the slick. Definitely the Westbank.

The fried chicken is soooo good!!! I just wish they were open on the weekends, too. They were pretty quick with my order and it was accurate. The person who took my order was very kind and accommodating. I went through the drive through, so I can't really speak on the "ambiance" but-- it was an overall good experience. Again, I just wish they were open on weekends.

I read in the local newspaper how good the chicken is. Went there and ordered 4 pieces with red beans. I also ordered a cup of the sausage gumbo. Chicken and gumbo was very good. red beans were really thick and dark. The beans had a good flavor but i had to mix it with water to loosen it up

Food is cooked to order at Chubbies, so it's always hot and fresh. Fried chicken is excellent, but on this visit I tried the fish and shrimp combo. I enjoyed it as much as their chicken. Chubbies has the best biscuits and delicious sides as well. The staff are helpful, friendly, and always have a smile for you.

The wonton soup never disappoints. It's always fresh and it actually gives me energy.

Chicken was great but I also got the spaghetti plate. The spaghetti plate had 3 meatballs that tasted frozen and hardly any pasta. The salad is shredded lettuce and two pickles and the garlic bread tasted like it was yesterdays. Wish I would have taken a picture. Not worth the price. Recommend the chicken.

The owner lied about the chicken being fresh I ordered several things chicken was old Beans smelled like they were going bad and a lil burnt Rice dressing was stank The wait time was long Never going back New owners brought the food quality down

If you think your local fast food chicken spot is a contender, you have never been to Chubbie's. This place puts the smack down on just about any chicken place you've tried. I've tried plenty myself, but nothing compares to this literal mom and pop chicken joint. Set in the heart if the Westbank, Chubbie's is nothing much to look at from the outside, and the dining hall only fits roughly a dozen people. The lines are always long during lunchtime, but magically they move fast. If you're lucky you might get a seat. None of those things will matter when you get your food. If you don't make the cut for a seat, I guarantee nobody will judge you for sitting in the car to feast. Their chicken is AMAZING! It's flavored to perfection and super crispy. You can also get a great deal on a chicken box, if you want to feed the family or friends. Their chicken sandwich is the bomb too, and they never run out, like that other subpar fast food joint. ;) The sides are dynamite, and they have great daily specials, seafood poboys and an extensive menu aside from just chicken. Perhaps my favorite item on the menu is their delicious and flaky biscuit. It is so buttery and fluffy. We drive there just to get two dozen biscuits, to keep in the freezer for breakfast and snacking. I love this place. I am so grateful to live only 8 minutes away!

My friends wanted some local food and this place grasped our eyes every time we passed by it. FOOD// I'm from TX; so, fried chicken is always a thing everywhere. I found this place better than the usual fried chicken places I went to in Texas. I fell in love with the french fries more than anyone, to be honest. My friends had banh mi and gumbo and they said it was pretty good. Banh Mi's french bread, heard it was not toasted but just a bread. Overall, filling of meat to vegetables ratio was perfect w/ the sauce. Gumbo was a bit salty to our taste. ATMOSPHERE// Just gave a usual fried chicken restaurant. we met a gentleman named Santa - #Nice people gets presents, right? SERVICE// We went at the opening time; so, few things were not set 100%. not complaining since i got my food. Could keep few things more clean b/c I found them oily and felt little disgusting. SURROUNDINGS// Local neighborhood.

I really enjoyed this place. Westbank does not have much food options compared to other areas in the parish. Their service is great and super friendly. I placed a phone order to pick up at 5:40 and it was right on time. Their lobby is still closed but someone will unlock the doors for you if you walk in to pick up. I saw that there is a really convenient drive thru order system. When you walk inside, the prep area appeared to be very neat and tidy. There was not an old oil smell or any sticky oily feeling when you walk in. That is always a good sign. I got home and my chicken was still hot and crispy. The portions of the sides and chicken were really generous. 12 piece with two large sides and 6 biscuits for 25.99 plus tax? I'd much rather take the drive there to pick than order at Popeyes down the street from my house. Can we also talk about how good the sides were?! The red beans and rice and the buttered biscuits were really yummy. You could really taste the love put into it. The only day they open til 6 are Fridays. Tuesday to Thursday, they open until 5, I think. Looks like Chubbies Fried Chicken Fridays at my house. :)

Ordered 2 piece chicken with red beans the chicken was good but the red beans were scorched could not eat them I was disappointed so if a place can serve this it means I will not go back again

My absolute, hands down, FAVORITE local fried chicken spot! Their chicken is insanely flavorful and their onion rings are the very best I've ever had in my life. As someone who, unfortunately, was a frequent Popeyes flyer, I have to say that I'll never go to another chicken chain if I don't have to after discovering Chubbie's. This place puts Popeyes to shame and there's nothing better than supporting a local business than a massive corporation with crappy product. My only gripe is that they aren't open more often! Their hours are quite limited and it seriously bums us out when we won't make it there after school/work during the week because they close at 4pm. But, we can deal. If anything, that just speaks to how much we love this place... we plan our days (when we plan to have chicken for lunch/dinner) around when Chubbie's is open. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend!

The best within a hundred mile radius, probably further than that if i were to go looking. Also gt the biscuits instead of rolls they are heavenly. Dont listen to those fake shows on tv about the best places to eat in NOLA. They're full of shit and have no seasoning to make the tourists happy. Yall know they aint got no real seasoning up there and on the west coast.

Who needs Popeyes, Church's, or Raising Canes, when you have Chubbs! I had the chicken strips and they were HUGE! Seasoned on the spicier side, which I love. Definitely a good place for some comfort food!

I can't believe I live five minutes away and haven't tried this place out! Back in high school, my friends would rave about this place having some of the best chicken. Now some years later, I came here around 3 o'clock on a Wednesday to finally get my fix. I ordered at the drive thru and it came pretty fast. Everything smelled so good in the car and was hot when i got home. I got a 9 piece dark box, half a dozen biscuits, and a large mashed potato. The chicken was piping hot and really juicy. I'm a big biscuit fan and their biscuits were some of the best I've had. They were buttery and won't leave you gasping for air like popeyes. They mashed potatoes were pretty good also. My dads a popeyes fan but now we might convert to chubbies! Definitely will be coming back for more. Support local businesses!

Wow! Not only was the chicken good... the onion rings are crispy and delicious BUT the biscuit is to DIE FOR! only it's like a crack biscuit! I had never been and my boyfriend has been wanting to try it for a very long while, he's the fried chicken fiend out of the two of us. He loved it and so did I do we have a new chicken stop when we have time to go to AG. The chicken is hot crispy and juicy! I really want to try some of the hot plate daily specials too! Keeping them bookmarked so I will have a reminder to go back!

THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA. My favorite biscuit of all time! This place is always packed. Wait times can be long, but I've never felt like it wasn't worth it! The chicken has the perfect amount of spice and crunch. The biscuit is buttery and soft. I get sad when I finish it. It's definitely worth getting an extra. I also love their chicken tenders. They're huge and juicy. Not a fan of the 2 sauce options they have which are bbq and honey mustard. I used to love going on fridays when the shrimp etouffee is served! I also like their hamburger steak. This is a hidden gem. They're an old Popeyes location so they even have a drive thru. I will forever wish they were open on weekends since I don't live in the area anymore. I can't imagine disliking anything from here. Go ahead and change your life and check it out.

No joke , probably the best roast beef po-boy I've ever eaten. What a little gem of place.

Their chicken is pretty average, really nothing worth writing home about. Reminds me a lot of Church's or the chicken at Golden Corral. Sides aren't too great, but the biscuits and onion rings are pretty solid.

I've eaten at Chubbie's since I was a teenager. After Katrina, I moved away but dreamed of thise hot fresh biscuits Mr. Gary made. Upon returning to New Orleans, I made a beeline for my teen delight and the first bite of biscuit made me want to cry. It was even better than I remembered. The chicken was hot and juicy and everything I coyld have wanted. Over the past 5 years I have branched out to the hamburger po-boy (dressed of course) and the muffaletta. Omg, he muffaletta is to DIE for. Perfect balance of crisp bun, hot meat, melted cheese and olive salad. I have never been disappointed in Chubbie's (except they're closed on weekends)
