"Chubby Fish opened in 2018, and since then, it’s become one of Charleston’s best and most exciting restaurants. The seasonal menu, listed on a chalkboard right above the kitchen, focuses on locally-caught seafood with things like yellowfin tuna crudo and several varieties of oysters, including steamboat creeks from South Carolina. While you’ll have to come early to get a seat and put your name down for a table, this Cannonborough-Elliotborough restaurant is a great date night spot, and a must if sharing caviar sandwiches is your true love language." - jai jones, emily yates

This is a very fun restaurant. Everything is bright and upbeat. The staff is great, the music is lively, the sushi is great and they offer a wide selection. I’m not sure how they do it for the price. It’s easy to get to, and there is plenty of parking. Plus, they have a cool robot that brings out the food. I saw some reviews talking about wait times; I got there around the opening and was seated immediately. And a lot of other people were as well, but there was still plenty of room. I’m sure it ebbs and flows. It’s good sushi for $30.

Our server Queen was fantastic, very attentive and friendly. There were many options for appetizers, rolls and nigiri. The sake was a bit pricey, but it's to be expected from an all you can eat place. The shaved ice cream wasn't overly sweet and was very pretty and tasted great as well. There were a few people celebrating their birthday and we were able to witness the chubby fish coming out! Overall, I'd definitely visit this restaurant again!

Google
Cute place with nice decors. Sushi rolls were not that good but all the rest of the menu items were really good. The skewers and ramen were exceptionally good. Plenty of drink options but wouldn't come back because of the long wait (have to get on the list immediately if you don't want to wait 1hr+) and sushi rolls could be better. Overall I would give it a try!

Google
This place is very popular so you will need to stand in a cue online. We waited two hours and got our table around 8pm. It was worth the wait because wow the food was amazing. It’s all you can eat but they missed some orders we made and then our time was up so we didn’t get it. Disappointed since we payed a lot to eat what we order. Other than that I’m very pleased with everything. Happy with the vegetarian options they had.

Really wonderful experience on our first visit. The service was exceptional. We were waited on primarily by a very attentive guy named Max. There was an abundance of support people and robots helping him out. We waited a very minimal and expected amount of time for everything that was ordered. And it should be noted that we were a party of 10 coming in on a holiday weekend. The food was all very good. We had ample time to eat all we wanted to eat. The menu has generous options for all levels of sushi diners. My wife and I can’t wait to go back as a party of two and dive in a little deeper on the offerings! One pro tip, plan ahead on busy days. This place is not by any means a hidden gem. It is a well known spot and you can expect to wait during prime dining hours and days.

What an experience! From the moment you walk in the door, you are sent full send into the Japanese aesthetic...but the music is not what you expect! Eating my sushi to rave music made dinner such an experience - we were vibing so hard with the colors, food, music, and watching Demon Slayer on the TV, we had no time for worries. So if you come with some, they'll 100% be left at the door. And YES, they do play anime on their 4 TV screen wall. And the cool thing is it doesn't distract you from table talk. How many places can you say that about? The service was a little lacking. He was super nice but because he was also working behind the bar, he sometimes forgot about our table, which made ordering a ton of food super hard. I feel like we would have ordered more, but our time was up before I can say I was fully satisfied. But this was such a small part of the night for me, that I'm still giving it 4 stars. Now for the food! The first side of their menu has soups, salads, ramen, and small bites. And when they say small, they mean small. The cheese wantons were mini! While it took me by surprise, I found I didn't mind at all. It meant there was more room for sushi! However, I do wish there was a little bit more filling. In some, there was maybe a 1/4 teaspoon and that was super sad! Cheese Wantons: 7/10 Kara-age: 8/10 (they come with a spicy mayo sauce that is absolutely delicious!) Pork Belly Skewer: 5/10 (it came with a dry spice rub...which wouldn't have been bad if it hadn't been drowning in it) Shrimp Tempura: 8/10 (it's not a huge piece of shrimp but it was perfectly crunchy) Miso Soup: 9/10 Tofu Skin Roll: 8/10 Fried Sweet Potato Roll: 10/10 (OMG I'll dream about this) Spicy Tuna Onigiri: 9/10 (this is raw tuna, not canned) Angry Dragon Roll: 10/10 There is so much left I want to try, so I'll definitely be back! And please be prepared, if you don't finish everything, you will be charged a small fee...which I think is fair! And I'm sorry....I was so caught up in trying everything, I didn't take any food pictures!

Google
We friggin loved this place! Can't wait to go back! Price vs quality is excellent here. It's all you can eat with a 90 minute time limit if I'm not mistaken. The quality of the fish is some of the best I've found in Denver especially for the price. The decor is like an anime or manga comic book style with some semi traditional booths. They have little robots bringing some of your dishes to your table. We like to sit at the bar to have our cuts of nigiri as fresh as possible. They have a large selection of non sushi items as well. Everything we tried was delicious.

Google
Sat at the bar and had a great experience with the bartenders. Both were equally attentive and helpful. I was shocked to find out that they do not split tips as I felt the load was split evenly from taking away my dishes and as well as their exceptional service. Thank you Hunter and Jermaine! Everything was great and for the price it's the best in the game.

Yelp
Be aware that you might be in for a wait! Put your name on their wait list ahead of time to make it more bearable. The experience itself is great, really easy to fill up and leave stuffed!! The quality of the sushi is surprisingly good for an AYCE place, let alone in Denver.

James P.

Yelp
The sushi at chubby fish tastes great when it wants to be. Depending on the day you go, the fish will either be bland or the most fatty fish you've ever seen. Since it is all you can eat, it's a very popular and busy place, so the queue time can get very long (over 1 hour). Everything on their menu is all you can eat and they have a plethora of items in it. One of the best items there besides the sushi are their yakiniku, which is just meat on sticks (so like a kebab). Whenever it gets really busy, it will take a while for your food to get to your table. The service there is what you expect from a busy restaurant and I haven't had a waiter with a bad attitude yet.

Yelp
Great all you can eat sushi spot! The service was great, the atmosphere in the restaurant is fun and upbeat, so keep that in mind if you're looking for something more quiet, probably not the spot for you. Love the decor. They have a robot that delivers the food to the tables. Sushi and appetizers were delicious! So many things to choose from. Appetizers, small ramen bowl, etc are included in the all you can eat. We tried; Miso - it was decent/typical miso. Would probably skip next time to save room for other food. Wonton special for Valentine's Day - again, this was typical wontons and would probably not order next time to save room for sushi, but they did have good flavor! Pork belly bun - YUM! So delicious if you like a fatty meat. Crispy Spicy Tuna - YUM, this was a 10/10 and would have had more than one but they are filling! Sweet potato tempura - this was really tasty and would order again! Bronco roll - this was really good but also strong fish flavors. Rainbow Roll - standard rainbow roll. A little disappointed in the avocado, there was a lot of brown spots/chunks of brown avocado we took off the roll. Overall, enjoyed the experience and would come back and try other sushi rolls, the ramen and hibachi because it all looked great!

Kimmy T.

Yelp
My kids love this place! An AYCE sushi restaurant with a lot of small plate options so we all can find something. They even have full size rice entrees and ramen. Their special menu changes often and we always find something interesting to try. I wish they had a scallop roll, but there's plenty of other things to choose from. I usually load up super white tuna and all the truffle white tuna I can. It's not the best sushi in the area, but we haven't had 'bad' sushi here either and it's decently priced. The atmosphere is lively and fun. The service has always been great. All the servers are super friendly and take the time to talk and joke around with you. I'm glad there is a place like this up north! A tip: it gets really busy, especially on the weekends, so join the waitlist before you head in! Or get there right at 4:00 PM to get a table right away. There's usually a line outside the restaurant waiting for the doors to open.

Jenny L.

Yelp
If you plan on going, JOIN THEIR WAITLIST ON OPENTABLE. I cannot stress this enough. If you've never heard of open table, it's an app to make reservations and find events at restaurants. It's super efficient and the wait list does not require you to be a certain distance from the restaurant which is great. We arrived at 7 pm on a Saturday night and joined their waitlist. We were party #49 I believe and waited around 1 hour 30 minutes to be seated. The don't really have a waiting area for large parties. There's only a 2 seater available at the front which is pretty inconvenient. I would recommend going to a nearby cafe or boba shop to wait before getting the text stating your table is ready. They have a 10 minute grace period so just make sure you're within a 5-10 min drive or just wait in your car. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered within 5-10 minutes. Food came out relatively fast. They also have a monthly special which I thought was awesome. We didn't order anything from it though. We ordered: Soft drink (unlimited refill) Onigiri Miso soup Lamb skewer Takoyaki Shrimp tempura Sweet potato tempura Nigiri (raw fish with rice) Spicy edamame Sesame ball I really enjoyed their spicy edamame. The sauce was a mix of minced garlic and spicy chili oil of some kind. It was spicy spicy. So definitely get it if you love spicy food. Miso came out fast and hot. The seaweed used was kind of fishy tasting though. Not very enjoyable but the broth was warm and nice. Tempura was fresh and crispy. I liked how the thickness of the sweet potato was for the first round. The 2nd round we ordered it came out kind of on the thicker side like a wedge cut and that didn't taste as good. Lamb skewers were fresh and juicy. Definitely a good option. Nigiri was okay. The slices of fish was room temperature which really threw me off. The texture didn't taste too fresh either. Out of everything we ordered, definitely enjoyed salmon the most. Onigiri was alright. Not that great. I would skip. The flavors just aren't really there when I compare it to Japans onigiri from the combini. Takoyaki, I would avoid. It wasn't fresh and flavors were meh. Very sub par compared to what you would get at an actual sushi restaurant. As we were walking out, we noticed the big 4 TV screen was playing one piece so I thought that was pretty neat. All in all a pretty good experience for a $30 AYCE.

Jodie M.

Yelp
For $29.99 all you can eat sushi and ramen, you will definitely get the bang for your buck as long as you order as many entrees and appetizers that your stomach can devour. However, the quality and taste didn't blow my mind. Service is good but I don't believe I will come back for the sushis sadly

Sarah H.

Yelp
Dagnabbit, I forgot to take pictures of the food before eating it all! I was very pleasantly surprised with Chubby Fish. I knew about the cute interior and robot servers from a local food influencer post. I'd checked out the menu online so I knew it was a great value for the price with a great variety of sushi and non-sushi items to choose from. My concern, of course, was quality. There was a line out the door when we showed up about 20 minutes before opening. That's usually a good sign. And you guys, the photos don't do this place justice - it is SO CUTE AND FUN! There's also ample space between tables - they do a great job of maximizing space without packing guests in. The quality of the food blew us away. They actually undersell their menu. For example, the albacore nigiri is listed as just that, but when it came out, it was soaked in some savory sauce and sprinkled with fried garlic! I was happy with everything we tried, and The Boy and I can put a lot away. No notes. Keep doin' what you're doing, Chubby Fish! Actually, one note: your next location should be in Aurora so I don't have to travel all the way to Thornton!

Blu M.

Yelp
I've been sketched out by AYCE sushi because of the low quality of the fish and other dishes they offered but Chubby Fish was different and their food was actually pretty good. The sushi was pretty good but the rice was not set enough so it was a little bit mushy, otherwise the fish was actually pretty good. I also tried their ramen and it did taste pretty good. Broth was flavorful and noodles were bouncy and chewy. Service was pretty good and the wait staff came through often to clean off the plates and get new orders. They also have a robot coming around to deliver the food which was cool. The decor also was super cool and it felt like I was in an anime lol. Overall a good restaurant to go and affordable. So if you have a big stomach I would go here!

Yelp
This all you can eat sushi spot is incredibly delicious. They have all sorts of hot dishes as well and they were quick and attentive to our large party of six people. We brought a cake for my son's birthday party and they were very nice to give us extra utensils and plates to help with serving it. All of the rolls and food we got was fresh and tasty. We will definitely return!

Richard J.

Yelp
Joined the wait list, drove 30 minutes, and was still an hour out from seating. Decent AYCE sushi place! Appetizers: edamame was very bland, bbq pork bun was pretty good, gyoza bland, salmon kama was okay, and spicy crab salad was okay. Nigiri were pretty good but the rolls were not as most were fishy and mushy rice. Surprised by how good the orange jasmine tea and skewers were. Tastiest was the pork belly and lamb. Pretty loud in the restaurant with the music and also the restaurant doing birthday celebrations

David C.

Yelp
Chubby Fish is one of the few AYCE sushi restaurants in Colorado and is a decent one. It is true that a ~ 2 hour wait during peak times seems to be the norm but it can easily be avoided by utilizing their waitlist on their website. We joined, left our house accordingly, and only ended up waiting about 10 minutes for a table. The food is probably on the lower end of quality out of all the AYCE sushi spots I have been to. The nigiri is very rice-heavy and the quality of the fish is mediocre. The very odd thing about the nigiri is that they add odd sauces and toppings on them. An example is the red snapper, at least I think I remember it being the red snapper, had a lot of mustard seeds that made it very painful to eat even as a person that loves very spicy food. The rolls were decent. Service is a bit slow. We probably waited around 45 minutes total without food or water and waiting on our check. I understand that they are busy but it was a bit frustrating. The last thing I will mention is the music. I understand that AYCE places utilize loud, fast tempo music to get people to eat faster and leave but the music here was interesting to put it lightly. It was a bit loud but also ranged from bumping EDM to Slipknot. I love me some EDM and Slipknot but it's not exactly the type of music I look for when eating. Overall, our experience at Chubby Fish was ok and I am not sure whether I will return.

Yelp
We've been hearing about this place from friends and we finally visited as a group of 8 for a birthday celebration. We made sure to arrive early (on a Thursday) since we also heard that they can get quite busy, but luckily we were seated right away. Everything seemed super organized. We were told how everything works and then encouraged to place a large order to get ourselves started. Each of us chose a couple items, but I'd recommend making your first order even bigger. Most of the options are fairly small, even the bowl of ramen was a small serving, but that works out perfectly so you aren't too stuffed to try more. The service was quick and friendly and imagine our surprise when a giant whale mascot came out of the kitchen and along with a couple staff and their robot servers, sang happy birthday to our friend! That was fun :). The price is excellent for the quality and amount of food. We will be back!

Alexa S.

Yelp
The wait is long during the weekend, so it is obvious that it is descent. We like to just go on the waitlist on open table before we head there. The ambiance is busy on the ceiling but a clean restaurant. The food is descent and not too long of the wait. Sitting at the sushi bar feels like you get served faster. We prefer the nigiri but the sushi rolls aren't bad. Just don't recommend the Japanese cheesecake, it is definitely just from a package that you can get at the Asian market.

Amanda J.

Yelp
All you can eat ($30), totally worth it. They do not take reservations, be prepared to wait, I think we had a 90 minute wait and we went to Prost and got beers before heading back closer to the time we anticipated. Aside from the sushi, they have tons of small bites and skewers. The sushi was pretty good, for AYCE I feel like I taper my expectations and this one is worth it. You might even get your food brought out by the robot server!

Jessica V.

Yelp
The staff was so friendly but getting food felt sluggish. I have seen some reviews here and wanted to chalk it up to "working out the kinks" with a new renovation, but I don't think that's the case here. I was here with a large group under a reservation. We were seated early and separated into 3 small, 4 person tables. Instead of taking orders for our tables separately, they ordered our food on one ticket. This led to one singular table being overloaded with food, while the people at the other tables had to get up and walk across the walkway or pass plates to share food. It just felt incredibly awkward to have to twist myself in my seat or get up and reach over other friends trying to eat. As a result, I do not recommend this place for large groups. Before all this even started, we sat for about 15-20 min only receiving drinks before we got a slip to actually order. Looking at the menu I had so many things I wanted to try. At an ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT place that is so rare for me. The problem was after ordering, many things never arrived at our table. Alternatively, we received many dishes we DIDN'T ORDER. Extra bowls of miso, yakitori, spicy ramen we didn't request etc. it ended up being a 2 hour ordeal. I left still hungry and frustrated. I tried ordering a scoop of matcha ice cream as a consolation prize once things started to wind down. Alas, that never arrived either. Just the check. The decor of the place is so fun and they have themed menu changes. In conclusion, I had waited a long while to finally try Chubby Fish, ultimately I was disappointed. Really bummed because the food was pretty decent, but I didn't get to try anything I really wanted as it was lost in translation. So what was the whole point? It just felt awkward and disorganized. If things improve, this could be a great late night spot but as it stands, it feels a bit half-baked.

Melissa S.

Yelp
They don't take reservations but a waitlist on opentable, You must plan in advanced to get on the waitlist an hour before you want to eat since there's normally a wait. We went on Friday night, the opentable system worked as described, as it showed we were 5th, we started making our way to the restaurant and when we showed up, table was ready. The vibe as you walk in is pretty fun: the decorations, lighting, music and robots carrying food. Our waiter was attentive, explained the process and we got our order delivered really fast right after we gave him the paper with our selections. The food was delicious! The phantasm roll was our favorite, the classic rainbow roll always tasty and refreshing. Since we don't like tempura or cream cheese, the rolls menu started getting limited but we ordered some apps and nigiri. Really enjoyed the experience and will be coming back !

Kara H.

Yelp
Our server Abigail was wonderful- really funny and did a great job of checking in on us regularly. We waited about 40 minutes on a Thursday at 5, so if you think it's going to be slow... probably not. Love the modern, playful Japanese decor. The open kitchen is a fun choice, and they play upbeat electronic music that makes it feel like a speedy video game. Plus there's a robot that goes around and delivers food (not to us, but to other people? Not sure how it works). It really adds to the experience. The beer is SO reasonably priced- $2 for Coors light draft. Each adult is $30 for all you can eat, they do NOT sell individual rolls. Which is a shame, because some of the specialty rolls were TOP notch, and I would probably come more often to get those individually than for ayce. You really have to predict your stomach- each individual piece that you don't eat costs you an additional $1, and you can't take anything home. The small bites come out faster, and are easier on your stomach. The specialty rolls fill you up FAST, and came out last. Favorite items: Fire in the sky roll (deep fried and perfectly spicy/flavorful) Golden Philadelphia roll (another tasty deep fried roll) Pork Belly skewers (a little dry but the seasoning is chefs kiss) Seared Salmon Nigiri Baked Green Mussels (the topping is delicious!) Items that weren't worth the stomach space: Tonkotsu ramen (standard tasting ramen, just not on the same level as other items) Shrimp skewers (really good flavor, but you have to strip the tail and shell, which is difficult when it's skewered) Classic rolls (too much rice and just mid flavor) Overall, this is an EXPERIENCE. Really fun for a novelty night out.

Ardis R.

Yelp
Would love to give zero stars. We have been here several times with no issues with a kid. The lady up front looked at my son and said he looks over 4 ft so he is adult pricing. Mind you he has on big boots. The owner or manager said it's only fair because people lie and kids eat. Him being 6 years old is crazy to pay over $30. If it was nicely put then that would have been another story but the manager or owner was very rude and just said "goodbye" I've never been spoke to like this to take my kiddo to his favorite place to eat. THIS PLACE IS NOT KID FRIENDLY and management is rude. So sad, been a customer here for the branding change. Won't ever be back.

Irving M.

Yelp
If I ever went to Japan this is how I imagined it would be like! Amazing food, anime in the background, killer music, and a contemporary Japanese design. I recommend you come with an extreme appetite, you'll get full very quickly. Tons of options on sushi, sides, and delicious drinks (both alcoholic and non). A bit expensive, but I promise it'll be all worth it, your tum will thank ya.

Melanie T.

Yelp
So after trying a sushi restaurant that serves high quality sushi, I have to knock this down a star. If you're looking for AYCE, this is a great place. For $30, the price isn't bad and it's one of the few AYCE sushi places with lamb skewers. However, just know that we came on a Friday at 5:30 and we waited two hours until we were seated so I don't know if it's worth it. There's not much to do except get a drink and chill at BFW. So definitely go with people you can tolerate hours with. The sushi rolls were okay. Nothing really spectacular that made me justify waiting over two hours for. The appetizers were probably my favorite. The skewers were delicious - recommend getting the lamb. The baked muscles were so cheesy and tasty. The chubby roll was also really tasty acting like a salmon tempura. I have seen two sushi establishments at this spot and it looks like it finally found a sushi restaurant style that would actually succeed. The parking lot is small and pretty much everyone is here to try it out so it might be hard to find parking. The decor is really cute and I love all the wall art and signs they have. Fish eating sushi...

Yelp
We called at 6pm on a Tuesday night and were encouraged to enter the waitlist on OpenTable. The wait was about 70 minutes! Luckily we weren't that hungry and there was a park nearby so we hung out there before we got called. Once we were called, we entered the restaurant and it was so clean and well decorated. I was surprised and how well let and inviting the restaurant was. The bathroom however was extremely small and I could barely open the stall door and get out. Once we sat down, we were helped after about 10 minutes. The water tasted like tap water. The menu had pictures and descriptions for each item which was helpful! Then we got a sheet with all the items and we wrote the amount for each item that we wanted. The waitress came and took the sheet. The food arrived on a cute little kitty robot after about 10 minutes. We do only have 90 minutes to each which made it tough to wait so long for our food after we ordered. The sushi tasted fresh and it was well made. However if you don't finish your pieces, you'll get charged $1/piece. The hot food was also pretty good with the exception of the hibachi. We got the shrimp hibachi and the shrimp had a strange taste. The spicy miso ramen was really good although slightly on the salty side, but not too bad! Overall, most of the food was yummy and the service was good! Aside from the long wait, and the teeny bathroom, and the yucky water, I would recommend giving this place a try! Especially for $30!

Mary Jane C.

Yelp
Lots of yummy options BUT not worth waiting 2+hours in my opinion. I will return when the hype dies down and the wait time is more reasonable. Food overall: Sushi is fresh and quality for the unlimited deal they're running. Based on what I like, appetizers ranged from delicious to okay (most were average). We ordered tonkotsu ramen, but we never got it. By the time, we asked for them again, it was sold out. Favorites: Enjoyed the raw items with minimal or no sauce the most - the ngiri options (tuna, salmon, hamachi, ikura, red snapper, and eel), Truffle white tuna, and shumai. Love, love the sesame balls - I literally ate two orders (4 pieces) by myself. Vibe: Noisy as the place was packed out. Colorful decor. Price: $30? Very reasonable for what you're getting. Service: Nice and polite. Kudos to all employees there who deal with that much chaos.

Yelp
friend recommend it. can't believe we don't have to wait 2 hours like last time we were here. Décor is lively and loud music popping! Staff are super friendly explaing the menu since is our first time. Was seated at the Sushi Bar so got to see them making the sushi and cutting a tuna! So many choices! The lamb skew was sooooo good!!! I had like 12 of it. The only thing I don't recommend is the Salmon Onigiri. The flavor is just not what we are use to. Will definitely be back if we are in the area and don't have to wait 2 hours.

Sandra F.

Yelp
I was very disappointed that we were charged $2 over 2 left over pieces of wontons, that did not taste good at all. So make sure you clear your plate or else!!!! It used to be my favorite, now I will not go back.

Imee C.

Yelp
Came here on a late Friday night. The place is in a small strip mall that has a few parking options. We put our name on the waitlist via Opentable. By the time we got to the restaurant, our table was ready. The place was really busy and had a lot of people waiting outside for their table The food was not very impressive. But what can you expect from an AYCE place. Service was not very good either. I asked for the check a couple of times and did not get until 30 minutes later. This is a one-and-done kind of place.

Tiffany N.

Yelp
When you walk in, scan the QR code and they say it's a two hour wait....believe them. We came here (what I thought) early, on a Friday evening but apparently everyone else had the same idea. It's AYCE and shiny and new so I get it, so we waited. We waited in the car, ran an errand, went to Buffalo Wild Wings in the same shopping center (the official waiting spot for the Chubby Fish wait list) and then finally got sat. We sat at the sushi bar, our server explained the process to us and we started the ordering. We got a few rolls along with a lot of nigiri and they were cranking it out. The sushi chefs HUSTLE here, they just kept making rolls, plating them and then onto the next one. We got a few skewers and pork bao, which personally I would pass on the bao if we go back. Skimpy on the meat and it had a brown grayish color, it didn't look good and tasted ok. The nigiri was tasty and the roll was good as well. What rolls we got? I couldn't tell you since they blended together but one thing I can say if you're going to take someone who is a sushi novice, this is the perfect place for them (aka they have a lot of fried rolls and rolls with cream cheese). One of the most memorable things we had was dessert, the strawberry bingsu. It was absolutely heavenly and a perfect end to the meal. Our server says it takes about five minutes to make so I'm not sure how long they will keep it on the menu but if you go here in the neat future, order it! All in all, it was a good experience but I most likely won't come back if it is going to be a two hour wait. They recently opened so I hope they can keep up the momentum .....as they should with the EDM soundtrack to make people eat faster and leave (in my opinion, of course.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to dine at Chubby Fish. People are not lying when they talk about the wait to get a table. I arrived at 5:30 and we got seated around 8PM. It was a Saturday so I didn't expect anything less. Last weekend when I tried to go the wait was estimated at 3 hours even at 4:30, so expect a wait. Once we were seated it was smooth sailing and it was actually a pretty calm dining experience. The energy is there, but it's not overwhelming. I also love the roving cat robot that delivers the sushi too. So cute! We got seated and our server greeted us and immediately asked what we wanted to order after she explained the menu, which was a little overwhelming. Another tip is to go in with a plan. I tried the tonkotsu ramen which was small and the right size. My friends got the miso soup which smelled delightful too. For starters we tried the green mussels (too much mayo), the crispy tuna, and the super white truffle tuna (not enough truffle but awesome still). For sushi we tried the Fire in the Sky and another spicy roll of the specialty menu. I think in the future I might skip the specialty rolls. They were a little too over the top and not enough fish for my liking. The nigiri was an absolute star of the show though. You can order one piece of each type of fish at a time and there's a limit to how much you can order all at once. The hamachi was incredible though. I could eat that all day! I recommend it, but definitely have a plan for the wait and for what you'll order once your table is ready.

Yelp
Food is great but we didn't always get what we ordered. We've been here twice since they opened and as long as you get there early (when they open) there's not much of a wait. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
All you can eat?! Sushi?! For $29.99?! My favorite combination of words all together. Chubby Fish Sushi is a new HOT spot for AYCE Sushi just a short trip north of Denver city. Located in Thornton area tucked away in a business strip. This location has been POPPING off. The location is large and can be loud depending on time you go, but it's expected with amounts of people. Opening at 4pm daily and closing at midnight.. this location is BUSY. There will be a long wait time so be prepared if you have a larger group. My visit was close to opening week and I waited for about an hour and I was by myself. I was sat at the bar and the bartender was awesome holding it down and attentive for the entire seating area. They are very busy and a large space for AYCE, so please be patient with your sushi orders. The quality of fish here was perfect. Nothing was overly fishy at all an I enjoyed every bite. The truffle white tuna was so so good and I definitely recommend you ordering that. This is my new AYCE spot !!

Yelp
best AYCE sushi in Denver (actually in Thornton). best to go right when they open at 4pm.. it gets really busy by 4:30! Join the waitlist on OpenTable to secure a reservation..upbeat environment, friendly staff, sushi robots, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Excellent services minus the two hour wait to get seated. This placed is definitely happening and if you don't mind the loud music and echoey acoustics then this is the place for you. When I think of a Japanese restaurants especially sushi place I think of a far more quiet place who have sushi chefs who are primarily focused on providing an experience as well as masterfully cutting fish. Definitely not a quiet place and with the cartoon characters strung up everywhere it felt a bit immature. You get two hours to eat as much sushi as you want. The fish is fresh and even the cooked items are wonderful as well. You get your choice of sushi rolls, nigiri, bao and even the strawberry bingsu (shaved ice) at the end was wonderful. Our waiter mentioned this was for a limited time so don't expect it to be around for much longer if it is still around. Overall a solid experience but not sure I would wait that long next time. This would be a great place for a group of friends to get together and catch up. Otherwise, if you want something intimate I would recommend somewhere else. Still a fun place to try once.

Yelp
Super fun and trendy restaurant! For AYCE it is a decent bang for your buck, 29.99/adult 15.99/child. The wait times are astronomical so make sure to check OpenTable to see how many people are on the waitlist, they do not accept reservations. Hostess was super friendly and helpful, the overall service at our table was not the greatest. The server barely came by and when he did we had to wave him over to us. Food quality was not the greatest, but was on par for what you paid for. What is impressive is the speed at which the sushi chefs pump out their rolls. Least favorite dishes- steak skewers and steak hibachi. The steak is fatty and chewy with little to no flavor whatsoever. Mid-tier dishes- crispy rice with spicy tuna (rice patty was thick and extremely mushy in the center, tuna was not the freshest and had a fishy aftertaste) Hamachi Nigiri (extremely thin slice of hamachi, overall fishy taste, a huge ball of rice underneath) The sushi rolls in general were mid. They use a TON of rice for the rolls and the fish is chopped really fine and had the consistency of paste. Not the greatest quality either, but at this price point, what do you expect (haha) Top Tier- The tonkatsu ramen was fantastic Tamago Nigiri- delicious but small pieces of tamago Kani Nigiri Karaage- so crispy and has great spice Fried Rice- Simple but delicious

Yelp
I came here around 6pm on a Wednesday night. I checked in by scanning the QR code and being placed on a wait list. We were 27th in line which took us (a party of 2) about an hour to get seated. I was unaware there was an online waitlist where I could have put my name down on open table to save a spot in line. Do this in advance if you don't want to wait! When we first got seated we weren't served or spoke to for about 10 minutes. Once we got served then our service was great. We tried the wontons, pork belly bun, white tuna, jalapeño bomb, sesame balls, crispy spicy tuna as appetizers and they were all underwhelming. The ones that we somewhat enjoyed were the pork belly bun and the sesame balls. We also got the spicy ramen, fast and furious roll, and the sakura rolls. The ramen was bland, the broth itself and the noodles did not have much flavor to it. The rolls were just okay. For nigiris, we got the basic tuna, seared tuna, salmon, and seared salmon. For an AYCE buffet, their nigiri's are larger than most which was a plus. You can't go wrong with the tuna and salmon nigiri! They were pretty good but I would steer away from the seared tuna and salmon unless you like sweet nigiris. The seared fish has a sauce on it that we didn't not like that made it too sweet. I also got the passion fruit drink which was the best thing I had on the menu. They use real fruit in this drink! Overall, I was expecting better with all the hype that was going around and was not worth the wait. This is one of the better AYCE sushi buffets I've been to in Colorado but don't expect to have high end small plates and rolls.

Yelp
Dined in here during their soft opening, and this place was packed!! So glad I called in to make reservations because I overheard the hostess say the wait was about 1.5 to 2 hrs. I will have to say that I have to give mad props to the hostess. She probably had the hardest job of the night. Dealing with hungry, impatient customers is never easy and she held up quite well. The food here is really good! For $30 you get AYCE sushi, skewers, and ramen! I wasn't able to try their ramen but I definitely will next time. Their rolls and nigiri was delicious. The nigiri were perfect one biters; perfect amount of rice and fish. For the most part they tasted fresh with the exceptions of the last order. The nigiri seemed like they sat out too long. The rolls were also quite good. Again, the sections were cut in perfect bite size. The skewers were probably my favorite of the night. The lamb took the top of the fave list. I hope that in the future there will be more skewer options because the pork belly, lamb, chicken, and shrimp were all really amazing. The staff here did an amazing job with the chaos. The dishes came out really quick and I saw all them smiling even though the demand was very high. I think the longest we had to wait for anything was for the bill. I loved the robot server! This machine knew when there was people in the way, and the way it varied its speed is really touching to this nerd. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes. I can definitely see Chubby Fish being my 2nd home!

Yelp
Big restaurant eat as much as you can, service is good, there is a couple of robots driving around delivering food by table number. The only downside is the wait time couple be couple of hours.

Yelp
Great service, lively atmosphere and cute decor. The service provided was fast and efficient. We arrived 15 minutes prior to opening on a Saturday, and a lengthy line has already formed outside but we were seated rather quickly. For the price the food was delicious. We sampled dishes from appetizer, hibachi, sushi and ramen sections and were pleasantly pleased with each dish. The ramen was perfectly portioned, allowing room to explore other menu items. They also offered 1.50 Coors light and 3$ 5oz hot sake. Despite the busyness, the servers were remarkably attentive. We will definitely be back in the future.

Yelp
They implemented a new system where children over 36" are eligible for half the price of adults @ $15.99. So going to dinner with my wife and 3 year old son who is 37" tall - who usually only picks at scraps and leftovers - was an additional $15.99. Dumbest decision on management's part ever. So between the 3 of us - the bill was $75 pre-tax. Ridiculous, never coming back

Yelp
We had a great time, service at the bar was really good too (probably better than what people experience at a table since we can always get the bartenders attention). Everything was pretty good and I liked that they had tons of alternatives to sushi so you can get your moneys worth if you don't like raw fish. Unfortunately we got food poisoning after so I don't think we'll be going back soon, such a shame since the whole experience was great, but that's the risk you assume when eating tons of raw foods and I don't blame the restaurant for this at all.

Yelp
We used to come here when this was sushi umi and I was nervous that the quality would be different. This sushi is very good! All you can eat and includes ramen, hibachi, and apps. The decorations are super cute, cartoony. The bartender HUNTER is awesome. Always willing to modify drinks to your liking.

Yelp
Cute modern neat Japanese fusion all you can eat Japanese restaurant vibe. Pretty good all you can eat sushi with a wide variety of side dishes available including skewers. Highly recommend this restaurant. Very great services!!

Yelp
Made a reservation for my family and I (myself, wife, 5 year old daughter). Reservation was made at 5:44pm. Drove to the place and waited in the parking lot. Daughter was very hungry, we got get Buffalo Wild Wings since it was in the same shopping center. She ate in the car while we were called. Finally "Chubby fish" called us in at 7:03pm. Mind you, it's snowing and I'm in crutches. It was our first night out in a month. We walked into the restaurant and first thing the manager says is " have her (daughter) stand against the wall to see her height". My daughter goes and manager says, "She is being charged to sit at the table". I responded, "my daughter just ate wings and does not like sushi". "It's just My wife and I that wish to eat here. The manager responds, "your daughter cannot eat another restaurant food". (daughter had a wing and fries in her hand. He says, "I have to charge for her sitting at the table". I told him it didn't make sense to make someone pay for someone that is not eating the sushi. Not sure if this guy (manager) had a bad day that day. But I don't think he handled the situation properly. My family and I respectfully walked out the restaurant and went home. Very disappointed on this place.

Yelp
This was one of the better all you can eat sushi spots I've been to! It was nice that the menu had other options like bao, pork belly buns, and hibachi which was included in the all you can eat. I also enjoyed the decor and the music was a vibe! I do wish we received better service, there were long waiting periods before our waitress would check in and there were a few rolls we ordered and never got.

MyLinh N.

Yelp
This place is pretty exceptional for an AYCE. It's better than sushi katsu and mito. The ambiance is nice. The waitlist option is convenient. The sushi isn't like other AYCE places. Everything that we ordered, we thoroughly enjoyed. We left here wanting more and will be back in the future. Delicious and highly recommend.

Yelp
Well worth the wait and definitely living up to the hype. This new AYCE sushi spot is in the restaurant formerly known as Sushi Umi. It has been opened for over a month now, but there is still quite the hype, which I can see why. We checked in around 4:30PM and was told 1.5 - 2 hour wait for a party of 2. We ran some errands and actually received a text after 1 hour that our table was ready; we were seated promptly once we came back. We were hungry and ready to order, so ordered everything all at once. To my surprise, the apps came out within 10 minutes and the rest of our sushi came out about 5 minutes later. I'm very impressed as the entire place was packed! The food was amazing! All the fish was fresh and the rolls had a generous portion of fish and toppings. All of the nigiri we ordered also had a generous portion of fish as well. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. It's also great for groups because there is something on the menu for everything. At $29.99/ person for dinner, it is a killer deal. I hope the quality and service keeps up. I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Seen this place all over TikTok and social media and heard about the long wait so I decided to go during the week and it was busy but easy to get a table. I'd like to pride myself and being a sushi snob, I feel like all you need to do is try one piece of Nigiri to tell you everything you need to know about a restaurant. After my first piece of yellowtail, I was sold this place is super solid, extremely family friendly. All you can eat for $30 and this economy is incredible. It was packed with families. Such a great time tried it out so many different types of food, do not hesitate to try this place out keep them going. They're literally open from 4 PM to midnight, which is awesome. I'll definitely be returning. You know the food was good when I only was able to take one picture cause I completely forgot.

Patia P.

Yelp
Great service and food! Peter, the GM, was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for dinner! Just get your name on the waitlist ahead of time (before leaving house). The wait can be anywhere from 30 mins to an hour. It goes quickly! Great place for large parties as you can share all the sushi/apps!

Alec C.

Yelp
Great for a night out! Great appetizers with even better sushi! The price is well worth the food with decent portions. Fish tasted fresh for a landlocked state (I'm from California). Don't be afraid to try everything but also get your sushi fill to make your money worth it! 10/10 will be going again. My only reason for the 4/5 stars is honestly the wait and process for getting in. If you are not there when opening or late at night you will be waiting 1-3hrs for a seat.
