This is always a MUST stop place when I’m in Fairfax. NanoBreweries are always great because the taps rotate often. Today they had a pairing with Girl Scout cookies, which was great! Food is always good and staff has always been friendly.

Google
This place is perfect! Super nice staff, lovely beer selection, cute interior (with much squirrel decor), and nice outdoors for a nice weather. Wish I lived closer by, this would have been my go to!

Google
Great food and awesome selection of great beers. Really nice folks working there and an excellent vibe overall. Love the wall of brewery stickers - I spent an inordinate amount of time reading all of them looking for names I recognized. Oh and bonus points for clean, functioning, gender-neutral restrooms - with period products to boot. (Cause at some point in our lives, we've all thought "Oh, I'll just take my wallet, instead of my whole purse, it will be fine!" and it was not fine.)

Google
Happened to go on a busy quizz night, fun atmosphere, decent American comfort food, great selection of beers (congratulations). I was sent to the back of the line when I asked for two quarters for the arcade games. Why bother having the games if you can’t take 20 secs to provide some change? Of course I didn’t queue.

Google
Outstanding little brewery in a plaza, next to a grocery store. Get over that. Fantastic beers in a variety of styles with great food options. We had the pierogi and cheese curds. Both were well done and not overly greasy. The Magolorian IPA was delicious, as was the IPL. Overall, the joint was hopping on a Saturday and seems to be very family friendly with a little arcade section in the back. IMHO, definitely worth a visit.

Google
Very cool unassuming spot. Everything you would want from a micro brewery. The beers are amazing (loved the "Squirrels Don't Skip Leg Day" Belgian Quad. Owners are just great people, super nice yo visit with them. We will ve back next time we're in the area!

Google
Amazing place - great variety in beers - not just IPAs. They have amazing brewing skill set with alot of variety. The buffalo wings are actually very hot and tasty. I’m so glad we decided to drop by 💙

Google
I’d give them 10 stars if I could just because the beer was good and they have a bag of toys that your kid can pick a free toy from and play with while you drink your beer in peace. 😂 Also just loved the local community atmosphere where people seemed to know everyone and it was a local hangout (someone was celebrating something and was sharing extra cupcakes with everyone).

Yelp
Tucked away in a strip mall in the city of Fairfax, Chubby Squirrel has a nice selection of beer and frozen slushies. This location also has some arcade games in the back. Service here is great and there's seating both inside and outside.

Maureen B.

Yelp
I was surprisingly impressed with the beer. IPA was solid and the chocolate stout was delicious. I had the pierogis - they were just okay. At one point in the evening the line at the bar took 20 minutes. I asked someone in line and they said that was unusual. It was frustrating to be sure and I was glad to hear that wasn't the norm. Will return.

Yelp
After getting our marriage license at the Fairfax County Courthouse, we had time to kill before meeting with our Virginia Marriage Celebrant so we went to Chubby Squirrel Brewing Company for a refreshing beverage. They share a large parking lot with other businesses in the Courthouse Plaza shopping center. It was a bit rainy to enjoy a beer on the patio. When you enter the business, you'll notice a Kustom Coffee pop-up. You'll pass a set of bathrooms before reaching the brewery. Since it was our first time at Chubby Squirrel Brewing Company, they asked us if we wanted to try anything. If you like something crisp, light bodied, lemony, tart, and refreshing, I'd recommend the Sima Olut Sour Finnish Lemonade. Prior to placing our drink order, we were told it was $5 beers and $5 wings on Wednesday's. My fiance enjoyed the Squirrel House Rock Hazy IPA, while I enjoyed the Strawberry Lemonade Slushie. It was cool that they offered N/A Lemon-Lime slushie too! After we received our drinks, we sat down at one of their indoor picnic tables, where we discovered a gaming area filled with arcade and pinball machines.

Tay L.

Yelp
Great beers and good finger food to go with your drinks! I came with my dog and sat outside to enjoy few beers. The person that works here is super friendly AND super dog friendly as well. Super chill spot in a quiet shopping plaza with plenty of parking.

Kimberly L.

Yelp
Came for $10 beer and burger night. Crowd seems like friendly regulars and very dog and kid friendly. We wish this place was a little bigger so we could give it a 5 But we will be back! Good neighborhood spot.

Tony H.

Yelp
One of the better places for beer and burgers. My friends turned me on to it and I find it a refreshing change to the hustle and bustle. In the summer they have outdoor seating. Give it a whirl.

Klara C.

Yelp
Nice little brewery and plenty of parking and seating! We got a flight of beer to share and they were pretty good. Friendly staff. We came here on labor day so they weren't serving food but they did have free hot dogs which were delicious. Overall a cool brewery and we will be coming back to try more beers and food! They also have a little vendor in here that sells coffee.

Thomas D.

Yelp
Meh beer Meh food Meh decor. DANGER BENCHES!!!! Beer is a little mixed - not great. Same for about the rest of the experience. If nothing else the benches out front are nice if you dont mind sitting in a strip mall parking lot and want a place to go with your dog. Sit on the inside benches cautiously....

Howard F.

Yelp
Just stopped by for an evening flight of beers, and the simple kindness with which they switched on the hockey game for me endeared me, but the beer is good too. I enjoyed the lager and Pilsner, while my wife took to the Saison. Neither of us cared for the Pucker beer, which was way too sour for our pallete. We need to come back and have some food - the tater tots look good, and they serve poutine!

Sara B.

Yelp
Service was good, beer was good. I'd recommend bringing games for kids to play. Otherwise, they get bored.

Timothy H.

Yelp
Cool vibe. Good prices. The burger & beer deal is always appealing. The outdoor seating and trivia nights are bonuses.

Joe M.

Yelp
Four stars for the beer and 2 for the food. It's a brewery, so I shouldn't have expected much from the food. I had a flight of four excellent brews. The Coconut Porter and the Double Dead were fantastic! The service was excellent. The ambiance was relaxed and laid back. The boneless wings were hard and flavorless. Definitely do not get them. I saw some others with tots and pretzels. They looked much better. If your looking for food, try those instead. I will return for the beer, though.

Chris D.

Yelp
I love this place. I have been a few times and it never disappoints. My wife and I stopped in today and had a nice IPA (I forget the name) and a plate of poutine. The poutine was out of this world with a nice gravy and melted cheese curds. I've had the burgers in the past and they are EXCELLENT! Same goes for the tots which come in a portion I can only describe as a heap. There is nothing fancy about Chubby Squirrel but that is what makes it such a great place. They serve great beer and great food and do it with a smile. There are lots of tables and lots to do. On the occasions I have been there, there was sports on the TVs. Today there was a weird cat show. Something for everyone I suppose. In the back, they have Ms. Pac Man, Mortal Kombat II, Galaga and another arcade game I cannot recall. This place gets a nice crowd and is good for a date, a day with the kids or pretty much everything else. I will be back!

Ryan C.

Yelp
Another brewery we added to our Sunday itinerary since we were in Fairfax. Location is in a shopping center so lots of parking available. The place itself isn't very big. Maybe 10 booths/tables inside with some barstools and 5-6 tables out front. Seemed like only two people on staff but they were super friendly and busy since they were bussing tables, pouring, and making food. We got glasses of the Hyyyype!, Squirrelly Hollow, Sima Olut, and the Hazy Squirrel. The Hyyyype was a great sour, very fruity. Tart yet sweet. The Sima Olut was a lemonade sour which was sour but less fruity, very refreshing though. My girlfriend liked the Hazy Squirrel, very smooth for an IPA. The Squirrelly Hollow was very Fall-y, you could taste the spice. Great place to hang out for a little. I wish this place was around while I was at Mason, I would be here a lot.

Paul B.

Yelp
Took to long to get a beer, and there were only two couples in front of us. We sat outside, and at dusk, all the overhead lights came on full brightness. These two things hurt our experience

Dave A.

Yelp
If you like beer, you have GOT to check this place out. Wide variety of varieties (not just IPAs as has become fashionable!), constantly changing, including some weird stuff, and of course entertaining names. The food menu is rather limited (though they do occasionally run some fun specials like lobster rolls), and the kitchen closes rather early (as does the whole thing). So, don't expect to go there for a fancy dinner after the big game or the show or whatever, but certainly for an afternoon beer and snack after mowing the lawn, or a lunch or early dinner. Look for the little squirrel with underpants on.

Larry V.

Yelp
We stopped at the Chubb squirrel, as my son loves Squirrels. Food was great, the. Beers were great, especially that the owners were so great. We will come back when in town.

William T.

Yelp
The beer was good and the food was okay for bar-food. Nice comfortable small joint for friends to meet up, but a little tight for a family of six with littles.

Bob M.

Yelp
Great name. Great music. Nice place. Very limited selection of beer. Beer needs some work. No depth of flavor. I felt like I went into a homebrews house for beer Although I had a good time and enjoyed talking to the staff, I will probably not come back.

Derek P.

Yelp
Had to google this one as we were in DC for a run race weekend and we were not disappointed. We got here late on a Sunday, 530 and they closed at 600. We almost were turned away but we said we wanted merchandise too so they opened the tills and we spent well over $100. The beer was tasty and service was exceptional. You never know when you just google breweries near me, but this was a great stop. The name caught put attention so of course we bought Tshirts. Their IPA is one to take home as we did in 4 packs. My only recommendation is to arrive earlier in the day and enjoy a few cold ones inside or outside on their patio. We will definitely stop here again our next visit to the DC area,

J B.

Yelp
I just love this place. The brew is incredible! I am an IPA drinker and both the hazy and the kick-ass highly hopped 9 percent double IPA are incredible. I have also tasted pretty much all the Chubby Squirrel's brews which are all noteworthy. One other thing to try - the lime slushie! Also, compliments to the Chubby Squirrel would not be complete lacking a shout-out to the lady who runs the place. I hate to say it but I forgot her name. She is great and loves dogs, which undoubtedly accounts for how dog friendly the place is.

Paul D.

Yelp
Small selection of beers but very good brews! Dollar hotdogs! Cheese curds! What else with some tasty brews.

Chaseley V.

Yelp
Our 1st time was on Father's Day. We ordered 2 flights of beers, and poutine. When I was checking out I had the best conversation with 3 people inside. I even scored a special artistic (.)(.) t-shirt supporting my new local business that's conveniently located across the street...more beer I see in my future this summer! Thank you for your great environment, service, and kindness! I can't wait to come back!

Ashley D.

Yelp
Are you in need of a second home? Well, this is your place! When we walked into Chubby Squirrel the woman who I believe to be the owner immediately went to grab a box for our daughter. The box was for her to choose one project or toy to play with. It was like going to the dentist, but she didn't have to have a bad bubble gum tasting product in her mouth in order to earn the prize. Not once have we ever been offered that at a brewery. It immediately felt like we were at a family member's house. I absolutely adore every bit of decor here.... I'm talking about even down to the decor in the bathroom. We enjoyed finding all of the cool stuff and small details that they have. It was hard not to buy nearly every piece of merch. I ended up settling on the last style of beanie that they had that fits me well. We ordered the pierogies and I do have to say that I haven't had pierogies since my Jewish friend had them at her bot mitzvah and these were so much better than those. We all chowed down on them so fast It was as if we hadn't even ordered them. The beer selection is mostly IPAs. I am personally a fan of sours. I'll settle for lagers, saisons, or stouts. I had their lemon drop saison and I was not disappointed. They have an old school game room, a bunch of cool squirrel decor, and in general it's the environment that you want to be in when you're with friends or having a bad day. We absolutely will be back and we will be bringing our friends that come in from California.

Yelp
I had a great visit to Chubby Squirrel! I stopped by at about 12:00 on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too busy - just opened. I thought I'd start out with a flight. It took about 3 1/2 minutes and I had all 6 draught beers in front of me. They were all very good. My favorite was the Hefeweissen. The Pumpkin Eater on Nitro was pretty good, too. While I was sitting at the bar sampling the beers, I had a great talk with one of the owners. Great story of how they got started and their business philosophy. I really appreciate a small business, local brewery. Chubby Squirrel is off to a great start. Four stars only because I thought the price for a growler was a little bit much - $18. I know, that seems to be the going rate in the area, but it's too much. I had an empty growler at the ready in my trunk, and I didn't feel like stopping to buy beer for the afternoon football games anywhere else. If that wasn't the case, though, I probably wouldn't have spent the money. All-in-all, it's a nice brewery with a great product and friendly staff. It's worth a stop to check it out and have a pint!

Vivi V.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. And lovely ambiance. Definitely no frills type of place. Plenty of parking and open seating inside. We came here on a Saturday late afternoon. The staff was unbelievably friendly and beer was good too. Will definitely be back!

Marissa D.

Yelp
I'm going nuts for this place! Squirreled away in an otherwise uninteresting strip mall, this first-ever brewery in Fairfax city is a hidden acorn! There are six rotating taps, and a flight is a great deal even if you're not a sugar glider. They have a limited food menu that includes delicious poutine fries! Betcha can't store those in your cheeks. The long skinny tables are perfect for socializing, so even if you aren't typically a pack animal, you can bring your whole scurry! If you'd prefer to feel the wind in your fur, they have outdoor seating (but the view is of a parking lot, so it's city animals only). The atmosphere is fun and family-friendly, so bring the kits! Sorry for acorny review.

Lyn L.

Yelp
Our corner of the county is moving on up in the DMV. Read some great reviews from my yelper buds so wanted to check out this Fairfax brewery. They are located in the Safeway shopping strip mall. This place has businesses turning over as fast as you blink. Hoping that Chubby Squirrel stays for a while. Staff was super duper friendly in their beer suggestions and their food recommendations. They have a few snacks to keep my taste buds excited. We tried their pierogis and fries. The fries are available with various forms of salt flavors. We tried the regular and garlic salt. They were a tad too salty for me but hubby enjoyed those salty sticks of potatoes. The pierogis were awesome. For $10, we had 6-7 little pockets of potato and onion. The beers are the reason for the visit. Unfortunately during our visit they only had one of their own brewed and ready to go. We sampled the Chubby American Brown Ale. It was too heavy for me but hubby enjoyed it. Our tasting board included local brews from other Virginia breweries. There were 2 sours that we both enjoyed: Crooked Run Raspberry Express and a Vasen. Tastings are kinda pricey: $15 and they only sell pints: $8 for our sours. They have a board showing the upcoming brews and what they have in house. There were a decent amount of inside and outdoor tables. It's a small place in a drab strip mall but it has potential.

Yelp
Chubby Squirrel Brewing Co. is the latest entrant into the Northern Virginia craft brewing scene! I visited last weekend for an ale tasting - I ordered the following ales (basically everything they had available at the time of my visit): Nutthief Brown Ale (7.0% ABV) (3.75 stars on Untappd) Dead Squirrel IPA (7.2% ABV) (4 stars on Untappd) Chubby Citra SMASH Pale Ale (4.6% ABV) (3.75 stars on Untappd) Country Squirrel Lemondrop Saison (7.2% ABV) (1.75 stars on Untappd) Chubby Honey Pale (Nitro)(7.0% ABV) (3.5 stars on Untappd) Black Squirrel Oatmeal Stout (4.5% ABV)(Nitro) (3.5 stars on Untappd) I am typically not a fan of Nut Brown Ales - but the Nutthief is quite a nice, well balanced, tasty nut brown ale! The Dead Squirrel IPA was my absolute fave of all the ales I tasted, followed by the Cubby Citra SMASH Pale Ale. I am not a fan of Citra hops and this is the first time I have experienced them in a Pale Ale (mostly see this hop used in IPAs). The Chubby Honey Pale was interesting - the flavor profile reminded me of a Mead, more than an Ale! I love the naming convention for their ales! Hopefully - they'll brew a beer with "Chipmunk" in the name some day! The day I visited - their WiFi was not working. The staff person who rang me up was friendly and quite nice. There is seating inside and outside on the sidewalk immediately in front of the brewery. I look forward to return visits and to see what else Chubby Squirrel comes up with! #ChubbySquirrelBrewingCompany

Yelp
The Chubb is a great local brewery with dog-friendly outdoor seating and the staff is awesome!

Nicole W.

Yelp
Nice local brew pub. The sour was delicious so was the food. Had some smash burgers and wings.

Teresa L.

Yelp
Loved the outdoor patio for some socially distanced drinks. Very dog friendly and a very welcoming staff. A fun brewery in City of Fairfax to check out!

Roger R.

Yelp
I ordered a Lazy Hazy IPA...It was very sour...I didn't order a sour.... Too many good options in the area to come back.

Karisa G.

Yelp
In my opinion, Chubby Squirrel is the definition of a neighborhood brewery. It's a small and cozy spot in Fairfax near GMU. They brew their own beer, but also serve cider, wine, and mead. On a recent visit, we decided to split a flight which consists of 6 of their beers. We also added a 7th beer which they were only serving in a taster sized glass. They had a mix of IPAs, marzen, lagers, and stout. My favorite were the pumpkin beer, stout, and brown ale. Husband was a fan of the IPAs. We both were pleasantly surprised by an English inspired ale which transported us both back to London. Staff is friendly and the vibe is very relaxed. They also serve food.

Ashley C.

Yelp
Great food and drinks, very relaxed atmosphere. Dog friendly too and they have A/c units outside.

Erin R.

Yelp
My friends and I truly enjoyed our visit last Sunday. The staff were super friendly and the space is cute offering indoor and outdoor seating and some games. I ordered the taster. I really liked a few of their beers, the pink one and the coffee one. We ordered pretzels and pierogis to snack on and both were delicious. Esp the pumpernickel pretzel. Sounds weird but try it!

James K.

Yelp
Dollar dogs!?!? Can't beat that, and they've got good beers too, need I say more for 5 stars?

Corina C.

Yelp
Quick service on a Saturday afternoon. Limeade slushie is BOMB. Boyfriend got a beer that supports the Ukrainian fund so I love that locals are helping in these trying times. Love the chill vibe. Recommend!!! Definitely will be weekend regulars

Shawn V.

Yelp
I decided to give this little brewery since I was able to get a free ride there from droves.io. My girlfriend and I came and met up with a group of old friends from high school. It's a great place to hang out, catch up with friends, and enjoy some tasty snacks! The atmosphere is laid back and there was plenty of seating. I even got a chance to meet the owner, Boyd, who's a super cool guy. I got the flight since I wanted to try all the beers. They were all delicious. We also got a Mead, an orange & cream soda (which tasted like a dreamsicle!), and fried mac & cheese! Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a good place to meet a group of friends and hang out for an evening. I even saw some people playing board games and cards which I thought was a great idea.

Stephen B.

Yelp
Got theier double ipa... average at best. Asked lady at register what she recommended and she said she is vegan and doesn't eat any of food... ok. No recommendation then. Ordered wings and sat down to watch march madness on a 70 inch tv 3 feet away from me.. neck still hurts. Left after 35 min of not getting wings. Suffice it to that I will not be going back.

Tim B.

Yelp
Most beer stops serve pretzels these days but i cant think of any nearly this good. Fresh chewy and thick! I also dog the nordic style perogies complete with apple sauce. Seemed kind expensive but i didnt mind too much since theyre so unique for this area. I only had the coconut porter...was a quick trip but so far so good. A pretty common stout variation but certainly above average....its to the tune of a funky budha or schlafly approach. Looks super heavy and viscous but its actually thin and drinkable without giving up too much body. It was wonderful to have a stout feel refreshing rather than overwhelming in the hot summer.

Kevin M.

Yelp
This place is great! staff is friendl, beer is always good! Pinball, Galaga in back! Love it!!!!

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
I went to Chubby Squirrel on 3/9/19. I left feeling a little disappointed. I had a flight and their beers were "meh". The majority of their menu are IPAs. The brewery was super crowded. It is located in a small space within a strip mall. I felt guilty hanging out (which to me is essential part of the craft beer experience) because people were lingering looking for a table. I am not sure if the brewery has just gotten so popular that no seating is available or the space is just too small to accommodate a reasonable number of people. On the positive side, the price of Chubby Squirrel is more than fair and it appeared they do rotate their taps. I also liked the fact that they had snacks in house instead of having to rely on a food truck. In a nutshell, not my favorite craft brewery in the area but they do have potential.

Paul Liam M.

Yelp
Great Brewery. Lots of selection and full menu too. Best pinball in Fairfax. 4 great classic pinball machines; all in great shape. Attack from Mars; Star Trek TNG; Dr. Who; and Big Guns

Dave U.

Yelp
I enjoyed the short visit at this nearby brewery. It's a quiet space in an outdated strip mall. Parking is easy. On our visit they had one of their own beers but they had 5 or so brewing. I enjoyed the samples of other local beers. The sours from 2 local breweries were my favorite. A pint purchased ran about $8. They offer a few snacks. My favorite was the fresh fried fries. Garlic salt was the seasoning of choice and it was definitely seasoned well. The place draws a variety of people. During our visit, babies, seniors and people of our age were present. Chubby Squirrel has indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and they keep the tables clean.

Cole H.

Yelp
Don't let the size of the joint fool you, Boyd ALWAYS has something for everyone on tap. The variety of brews on the menu may not be the largest among competitors, but he's always coming up with new items to put on tap and I've yet to taste a so so beer from this place. The pub grub is also noteworthy! Even if it's something as simple as a basket of fries, the food is definitely worth coming for to snack on. Their closest competitor is just a mile or two away and what I find amusing is they're a bigger brewery with an even bigger kitchen... my wife still prefers Chubby Squirrel over the bigger guy up the road.

James W.

Yelp
2/5 March 2019. I don't get it. I've had a lot of beer and nothing here was any better than just okay. And yet the reviews are high and it was crowded when we arrived. I've got to guess there's something about the location because I can't come up with another possibility. It's not even the best beer within a half-mile.

Christina T.

Yelp
I never knew this place existed until I saw it on a reddit post. I actually never went to a brewery before and this was a wonderful first experience! Though I didn't buy anything that offered a flight, I think that's what it's called, but it allowed me to taste one ounce of every beer! And I'm totally not a beer person, but the cute and ambient setting with fantastic selection of beer and knowledgeable staff is starting to change my mind. I am absolutely coming here whenever I get the chance again! The best thing is not only do they serve beer, but they also have hard ciders, non-alcoholic drinks, and wine selections! By the way I really loved number 6. It was a coffee stout I believe. But it really is so good!

Louis D.

Yelp
Great beer and great people. Don't miss their Chubby Squirrel merchandise which has their super cute logo on it! If only Boyd didn't have to sleep they could stay open more hours for all of us to enjoy the beer even more!
