"There are few better ways to spend a nice day than grabbing a six-pack from the fridge and drinking it on the deck with some friends, a couple bags of chips, and a sack of sour gummy worms. Even though this sounds like what you’d do at your own house, we’re describing what goes down at Chuck’s. It’s a convenience store where they’ll crack open anything that they sell from refrigerators, and they also have a great on-tap selection. The sheer variety of gummy snacks here is astounding, so don’t be shy about pairing your beer with a very rare breed of Trolli." - aimee rizzo
"Chuck’s is a cross between a convenience store and your friend’s makeshift garage lounge HQ, and it’s one of our favorite spots to grab daytime beers inside. Choose something on tap, or grab a six-pack from the wall-length refrigerator case in the back and have the staff open up the bottles for you. Get lunch from the food truck out front (which changes depending on the day - we like Nosh, Stacks Burgers, and Woodshop BBQ), or just picnic on a hodgepodge of chips, cheese doodles, pints of Full Tilt ice cream, and gummy candies from the convenience store portion of the space. Bring some board games and stay a while." - aimee rizzo
"Chuck’s Hop Shop is the ultimate come-and-go hangout that’s a cross between a 7-Eleven and your friend’s makeshift garage lounge. It’s a convenience store that has a great selection of beer on tap and long tables (inside and outside) to seat everyone you know. Check out the daily-rotating food truck outside, or grab a sack of kettle chips, some gummy worms, and a pint of Full Tilt ice cream to go with some beer. If you choose something from the refrigerator case, the staff will open the bottles or cans for you to drink in-house—so all you have to worry about is which board game to play." - aimee rizzo
"Chuck’s is a beautiful union of a convenience store (selling more gummy candies than we even knew existed) and the makeshift basement hangout of your friend who used to be in a band and never left your hometown. That means there are a lot of ways to do Chuck’s Hop Shop right, and very few ways to do it wrong. Pick something on tap from the great list, or have the staff pop open a six pack from the holy grail of beer fridges that stretches across the entire back wall. Every time you open it, you can almost hear a gospel chorus." - aimee rizzo
"Mat Kelley, general manager of Chuck’s Hop Shop, has relied on food trucks during the pandemic to help draw in customers to the popular beer retail operation." - Sabra Boyd
