We just moved to the neighborhood, and we checked out Chuck's Trading Post for breakfast our first week. The restaurant is a little divey and a little smoky and definitely understated cool. And the food was simple but really good! The breakfast menu has breakfast sandwiches, hash skillets, pancakes, steak and eggs, a classic breakfast, and French toast. I had the Better with Cheddar (sourdough, cheddar, bacon, and a fried egg), and my husband had the Marco Pollo skillet (adobo chicken, jalapenos, corn, Pepperjack cheese, and potato hash). Both were good. We had their drip coffee, which was good as well.
Their lunch and dinner menu has sandwiches, salads, and burgers. They also have a full bar and offer happy hour from 1-3pm Tuesday through Saturday.
The restaurant is small, but they have some seating outside, a few tables inside, and a bar (we ate at the bar). While all the servers we spoke to were really nice, the service was a bit scattered (I think they were training new staff). We definitely had to ask to order and kind of wave to get more coffee. But the experience was still really great, and I'll definitely be back. Overall, the food was really good and I love the menu and the vibe. Cool place in Hampden that's not on the Avenue!
