28 Best Restaurants in Singapore | Condé Nast Traveler

"First-timers might think they've arrived in the wrong place - this institution for Teochew cuisine (originating in Eastern China) is tucked away at the back of a clan association in a quiet residential neighborhood. But walk past the old-school reception area and you'll see a giant wooden panel emblazoned with the name of the restaurant. If you don't know Teochew cuisine, it is one of the lightest, most refined styles of Chinese cooking, and Chui Huay Lim does a brilliant job of balancing that delicacy with flavor. His menu has a mindboggling 150 items, and must-tries include the crisp-edged oyster omelette studded with plump oysters (the best in Singapore!), the silky smooth slices of Braised Duck, and the seductively smoky Wok-Fried Kway Teow - flat rice noodle ribbons with flecked with salty, savory preserved radish. Reservations are essential here, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays." - Annette Tan

02/Sept/2025 Had lunch with 2 friends today. Food was good, I especially enjoyed the pig Stomach soup & the sugar-glazed yam & yam paste. Service was top-notch, from reception to manager, captain & staffs. Ambience was good too. I'll be back again! Parking fees is $8 for slightly over 2 hrs

Great reliable Teochew Cuisine! Notable dishes include the Steamed pomfret, braised duck, pig stomach and chicken soup, and Wok fried Kway Teow. Service was great. Waitress was patient and helpful, though they din help to manage portions and we ended up with tons of left overs. There was a large projector screen on second floor, so perhaps they could show more updated songs for those with kids.

We strongly advise making a reservation. The restaurant offers ample seating, yet tables are frequently occupied. All menu items are prepared to a high standard. We particularly recommend the oyster omelet and chicken soup.

This was my second visit, and I thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the dining environment. Each dish, from the first course to the last, was exceptionally well-prepared and thoughtfully balanced in terms of sugar and salt. The exceptionally friendly service staff further enhanced the enjoyable dining experience. Update: I came back for their Teochew porridge and it is the most enjoyable I have had.

Food was definitely delicious. Service standard for sitting and ordering are good. The clearing of plates was rather slow even though one black jacket gentleman saw that the pot and plates were emptied but did nothing and await the waitress and waiters to clear after we asked or next dish came. We have to asked to change plates multiple times in view of shell, bones, sauces of precious dishes on the plate. Nonetheless, overall still happy with my family dining there twice with my immediate family within a month andy MIL dining there thrice within a week. Hope the next time we come back, the service standard will be better.

First I was quite blown away by the ambience of the restaurant. It is elevated without being pretentious yet feels comfortable as many seniors came to have their food. Of the dishes we ordered i only liked the braised duck (though it was stacked with alot of beancurd beneath), and the stewed pear dessert. The oyster omelette was too oily; the mee sua tasted average (i was somehow expecting it to be wet with gravy) and the salted egg prawn was not as spectacular as jumbo. Service was good they served ginseng oolong tea after presumably a digestive tea. Maybe the dishes we ordered werent their signature.

The food is nice and service was awesome. The elderly waitress was friendly and attentive while the Manager (can’t recall his name but he’s an Indonesian Chinese)’s service was great too. The star of the dinner would be the suckling pig, fried oyster and yam paste dessert.

The is my first visit and we had a great first experience. The elderly service staff was very friendly and efficient! The lobster was done to perfection, succulent and tender. The mid-sized bamboo clams @$18/piece were also well steamed and flavourful. The oyster omelette was not the usual gooey style but more crisp. Chai Poh kuay teow was full of wok hey. Ngoh Hiang was delicious. The salty and pepper prawns were tasty but the skin was not as crispy as I would like it. The only dish I didn't know how to enjoy is the fermented beans chicken which I found it bland and slightly dry.
