We visited Chulita for a date night and were thoroughly impressed by the quality, creativity, and overall dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the menu offers a thoughtful balance of traditional flavors with modern execution.
The barbacoa was rich and authentic. It could have used a touch more salt, but the depth of flavor was still excellent. The hanger steak was a standout, seasoned to perfection and served with a generous portion of fresh guacamole. The pescado, featuring sea bass as the fish of the day, was lightly seasoned with a clean, robust flavor that highlighted the quality of the seafood.
The grilled nopales were enjoyable with a great texture, rating an 8/10, though we would have preferred a bit more boldness in seasoning. The vegan mushroom carnitas were one of the highlights of the evening—extremely flavorful, tender, and thoughtfully prepared. A 9.5/10 dish and highly recommended.
The cocktails were equally impressive. The espresso martini showcased high-quality espresso and was exceptionally well balanced, especially with tequila substituted for vodka. The spicy margarita was well made, with excellent heat and a smooth finish.
Overall, Chulita delivered a memorable dining experience with thoughtful dishes, strong execution, and quality ingredients. We look forward to returning and exploring more of the menu.
