The 38 Essential Amsterdam Restaurants

"This bubble tea shop in the city’s Nine Streets neighborhood began as a takeout concept. While its bubble tea is unquestionably delicious (particularly the brown sugar milk tea with tapioca pearls and the mango jasmine tea with lychee jelly), Chun’s sandwiches are especially worth a visit. Thick slices of fluffy, golden-brown toasted brioche are split from the top, forming a perfect little pouch for lavish fillings. The creamy egg salad toast is wonderful in its simplicity, but you’ll never forget the bulgogi toast: tender strips of rib-eye in a Korean marinade, topped with boiled egg, spicy gochujang sauce, and yuzu mayonnaise." - Monique van Loon

It absolutely worth the wait. We waited for 45 min, we arrived there around 10:50am. It was not bad as it was a beautiful sunny day. Inside there’s not many seats we had to wait longer because it was not take away for us. Anyways a soon as we get there you can order via QR code, and they will bring the food to the table. First was the drinks, this was my first time trying proper matcha, 10/10 was so good, both the strawberry and the banana, is so nice and creamy. The sandwiches came out after. They were amazing, honestly they made me forget how long I waited standing up outside for them. The bread is so good and very buttery, the make a whole inside the bread and stuff it with the filler. Both flavours were also delicious! Is very amazing I highly recommend!

We waited 1:30h on the queue, but the wait was worth it the rib eye bulgogi was incredible. All of the flavours perfectly balanced and paired with the amazing strawberry matcha….(nom nom nom). You can also buy high quality matcha for yourself to make at home. It’s not a place for every day brunch, but everyone needs to try it.

After being recommended to visit and try their breakfast: The place has very limited tables, and entry depends on table availability. It could happen that my friend and I arrive earlier and wait for half an hour, but if a table for three becomes available, a group of three can enter before us. The dining experience was nice and definitely worth the wait. I tried: Riy Eye Bulgogi Toast Garlic Shrimp Egg Toast Matcha Strawberry They were absolutely delicious and wonderful. Miss Sharisa’s service was very kind and pleasant.

Very good experience and they are definitely worth the hype, the negative is the waiting times which can be significant during meal times (12-3pm), but if you are in for a munchie or afternoon snack after 3pm it slows down significantly and usually you can get served within 10min of arriving. I think something that would be a great add on for them would be to add some gravy to dip as an option. Especially in winter i believe it could be perfection.

Worth the hype 100000%! Yes, there's a wait, but if you get takeaway the line is significantly shorter. Highly recommend taking your food and going to a park to eat it! This was the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had, full stop. The garlic shrimp egg toast was soft, flavorful, and delicious. The strawberry matcha is a 10/10.

Thank you for a great experience! Yes, the line is long. If you don't have the time, then come when you do. We thought it was worth it! The bulgogi sandwich and the shrimp egg sandwich were so good. The service was top tier, with the owner being polite even when people were shoving in and trying to skip the line. Thank you!

This is easily the best sandwich I’ve ever had! The filling is incredibly flavorful, and the bread is perfect — soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, with a buttery crust. I tried the Bulgogi Beef and Garlic Shrimp, and both were amazing. Their drinks are also fantastic — my favorite is the Hōjicha latte. Definitely a 10 out of 10 experience. The only downside is the long queue — at least 30 minutes of waiting. It would be great if they introduced a number system, so people could take a ticket, walk around, and come back when it’s almost their turn. Waiting outside near the weed coffee shop or on the bridge isn’t exactly ideal.

This place has blown up on tik tok, everyone is talking about it. They have really aesthetic looking matcha. But it was €7.50. The Queue is massive. We went at around 12pm, Queued for 50 minutes before we even got inside, then a further 20 ish minutes for the food. This wasn’t even for a table just to takeaway. Prices are quite high considering it’s just a sandwich. We ordered Egg bacon and cheese, and it was good but the filling was only really at the top. The bottom was just weirdly sweet bread. Glad I tried it. But not worth the wait, I expected much more sadly, don’t get the hype
