This is probably the best dumpling I have ever eaten. $18/dumpling there are 2 types, but go for the meat one because it's a game changer! Very well seasoned meat on the inside, soft, fluffy but a little toasted on the outside. Heaven... Michelin recommendation is well deserved 😊

Popular local dishes in Shilin night market. Pretty crowded on weekends. There were two kinds flavors of Pan-fried bun. I love vegetable more than meat flavor. The cabbage was crispy. It cost NT$18 each piece. Didn’t forget to add their chili sauce.

Amazing pan fried baos! Workers are very efficient with the ordering. There's two flavors: cabbage or pork. When you get up to the front to order there's a table with the cost already figured out for you based on how many baos you want to want to order. Makes this a great quick snack in the night market!

So tasty. While at Shilin night market, go and look for that restaurant. It’s not in the main streets but clearly worth the extra effort. For 50 cents USD (so cheap for the experience), you get a perfect pan fried cabbage and pork bun. Beautifully seasoned, the bun is crispy at the bottom while being soft on the top. The juice inside is succulent. The whole bun is just so good. Go, you will for sure enjoy it.

A Michelin Bib Gourmand stall in Shilin Market. This place is only a takeaway stall so don't expect any seats here. I arrived and there was already a long queue, I just joined without hesitation and was impressed that the queue actually moved quite quickly. You can see that the pan for cooking the Sheng Jian Bao is quite big so it can cook quite a lot at one go. There are only 2 flavours, meat and vegetable so I decided to get one each and try. Decent price 1 is only 16 TWD and you can see people buying more than 10 at one go. I had a try for both and my personal favourite has to be the vegetable one. I loved how the cabbage was seasoned and it was so flavourful. Also the portion of the filling was very generous for the vegetable one. On the other hand, the meat one was quite juicy but the filling was kinda pathetic. You could see a lot of hollow space inside and the meat had quite a bit of space rolling inside as I was walking and eating it. Well for the price where costs are increasing I can't really complain. I can only say its well worth the queuing and trying.

Had a quick bite on the street and the butt wasn’t crispy enough. Brought it back & fry it some more. The meat is juicy and perfumed by the chives. However they need to live up to their reputation of crispy bun. Thumbs up for the affordability.

Good street food, reasonably-priced, limited choice, no atmosphere, clean establishment, no restrooms. They only serve 2 kinds of stuffed buns. One with meat and one with vegetables. The buns were soft, with a crunchy bottom crust. The meat one had some juice inside and the meat was tasty. This is a street food vendor which uses the storefront area as a kitchen prep area so there is no seating area. You can either eat it on the street or take home with you. Be warned that if you eat it in the street, it can get messy because the juice in the buns may spill over and there's no place to wash up. Overall, it is a tasty treat for the adventurous type. -- Tourist from the U.S.A.

Found this place with my Michelin app. Their Jian bao (pan fried bao) are really good! Only 2 flavors, meat or vege. My wife is in love with their meat jian bao. It's a must go for us in Shilin night market. 18$/bao is a steal. Thanks for the good food!

Yelp
I spent my summers and winters getting fat off of this night market right here.... in other words.. this is my hood. Shilin night market is a bit of a bear to navigate, so finding this little store might take some detective work... is it worth it? The answer is a definitive... kinda. It is my opinion that their buns definitely have fantastic flavor, but where they lost me a bit was in the ratio of the buns to the meat and veggies. A bit too much bread, and a bit too chewy for my tastes. Off the flavor alone I would be inclined to award them four stars, but since a better steamed bun place exists in this very night market, i'm docking another star. All in all, a perfectly fine bun that's a bit hard to find.... so really... why bother.
