So tasty. While at Shilin night market, go and look for that restaurant. It’s not in the main streets but clearly worth the extra effort. For 50 cents USD (so cheap for the experience), you get a perfect pan fried cabbage and pork bun. Beautifully seasoned, the bun is crispy at the bottom while being soft on the top. The juice inside is succulent. The whole bun is just so good. Go, you will for sure enjoy it.

Had a quick bite on the street and the butt wasn’t crispy enough. Brought it back & fry it some more. The meat is juicy and perfumed by the chives. However they need to live up to their reputation of crispy bun. Thumbs up for the affordability.

Was skeptical of the taste at first because the Bao was so affordable but they proved me wrong. It’s nicer than the Michelin guide Bao at the entrance of Raohe night market. Value for money and tastes amazing.

If you're looking for delicious and authentic sheng jian bao (生煎包, pan-fried pork buns) in Shihlin Night Market, look no further than Chung Chia Sheng Jian Bao! These buns are beautifully cooked, boasting a crispy, golden-brown bottom and a soft, fluffy top. The aroma alone is enough to make your mouth water. I tried both the classic pork and the pork with cabbage versions, and both were equally delicious. The fillings were incredibly juicy, and the pork was tender and flavourful. Be prepared for a short wait, as this famous stall is popular with locals and tourists alike. However, the queue moves relatively quickly, and the wait is definitely worth it for the delicious reward. A bonus is that the stall is located slightly away from the main market crowd, offering a slightly less crowded and more comfortable environment.

A Michelin Bib Gourmand stall in Shilin Market. This place is only a takeaway stall so don't expect any seats here. I arrived and there was already a long queue, I just joined without hesitation and was impressed that the queue actually moved quite quickly. You can see that the pan for cooking the Sheng Jian Bao is quite big so it can cook quite a lot at one go. There are only 2 flavours, meat and vegetable so I decided to get one each and try. Decent price 1 is only 16 TWD and you can see people buying more than 10 at one go. I had a try for both and my personal favourite has to be the vegetable one. I loved how the cabbage was seasoned and it was so flavourful. Also the portion of the filling was very generous for the vegetable one. On the other hand, the meat one was quite juicy but the filling was kinda pathetic. You could see a lot of hollow space inside and the meat had quite a bit of space rolling inside as I was walking and eating it. Well for the price where costs are increasing I can't really complain. I can only say its well worth the queuing and trying.

One of the most delicious dumpling in Taipei. Both crispy and juicy. Very cheap. Must try

this was a stall which we stumbled upon accidentally because we saw a long queue and joined in and it was arguably the best street food which we had. the buns were super delicious and they only cost 16NT and you can choose different fillings such as cabbage or pork. would definitely come back for this again if i’m back next time 😄

Fantastic, simple food. One of the best buns I’ve ever had. The location is a little odd, but if you could find it and if they’re open, definitely give it a try!
