When I originally ordered boss fries, I was expecting something unique and out of this world. But, it’s basically another fancy term for French fries. This Chunky Boss is a small store that shares it's space with Tiger Sugar. Inside the store there are only few stools to sit and dine. The menu has the cutlets and popcorns, and combos for those come with fries. Some of the flavors I wanted to order were not available at that time. After ordering, it took them about 10-15 minutes cook the chicken. I was so surprised how huge the piece of cutlet was, almost had never seen a piece chicken that large. The chicken had such a pleasant flavor. It was moist and soft inside. Fries tasted average.

I first heard about Chunky Boss through an overseas Taiwanese group on Facebook. Fried chicken breast has become a popular street food trend in Taiwan in recent years, and Chunky Boss is famous for its enormous, thick, fried, and breaded chicken breasts. The Chinese characters on the chicken’s wrapping paper declare, “I win because I am thick and heavy,” perfectly summing up the indulgent experience. Located inside a bubble tea shop, it’s easy to create a high-calorie, heavenly combo: bubble tea and fried chicken breast. I tried both the original and chili sauce versions. The chicken breast was juicy, lightly breaded, and remarkably crunchy on the outside. The original flavor highlighted the natural sweetness of the meat, demonstrating that even without heavy seasoning, it can be irresistibly satisfying. The chili sauce added an extra layer of boldness, offering a flavorful and spicy kick. Altogether, it’s a delightful exploration of Taiwanese-style street food at its best.

Very small store with only a few in store seating. Got the combo 1 with classic pepper added mango sauce and sweet chili sauce. Decent portion for its value. Chicken is juicy but not very flavorful, much better with dipping sauces. Fries are alright, pretty crispy. Bubble tea is decent.

Fantastic customer service and an absolutely incredible classic pepper chicken cutlet! It was Huge, perfectly crispy, and juicy! Highly recommend! For, 10 bucks, I found it a bit pricey, but I guess that's standard NY prices.

It’s a really small shop and the staff were really nice- I got the sweet chilli chicken cutlet and it was really fresh and crispy and honestly huge I feel like it was worth the price it definitely seems smaller than it actually is. The fries were alright but honestly they’re kind of whatever, good if you’re extra hungry

The chicken strips with spicy power were delicious! I don’t know what they put on their fries but they were phenomenal! The service was great and the tea I got with my combo meal was great! It is a small location with minimal seating, but so worth it!

We were excited to hear Chunky Boss which is a famous brand serving chicken cutlet originally from Taiwan opened their new location in NYC. We visited during lunch time at about 12:30pm and it’s extremely crowded on their opening day. Their menu is simple and we got Crispy Chicken Cutlet, Spicy Chicken Cutlet and Combo with Chicken Strips, Fries and Drink from Tiger Sugar. The food was overall decent and satisfying, especially the chicken cutlet. It’s exactly the same as what we had in Taiwan, juicy and tender inside with crunchy layer.

I can only speak to the chicken because that's the only thing I ordered, but man it's really tasty. I'm impressed with how they're able fry such huge cutlets and still keep them incredibly juicy. If you're a fan of Taiwanese fried chicken, you'll like food here. Recommend: Crispy Chicken Cutlet with Classic Pepper flavor

If you're in the mood for massive, juicy chicken cutlets, Chunky Boss is the spot! I ordered the classic pepper powder cutlet on my first visit. The chicken itself? Perfectly cooked, super juicy, and packed with protein--a definite win in my book. However, the classic pepper flavor wasn't really my vibe after a few bites. It's not bad, just not the right choice for my taste buds. That said, I'm definitely coming back to try a different flavor--I have a feeling my banger is still waiting for me on the menu. Fun name and fun decor: I utilized the place for the pastries to eat as I walked around: advertised as authentic Taiwanese treats, they were warm and eggy and injected with chocolate cream freshly for me. I love the Tiger in the window. I didn't even realize they had chicken until I saw this review: I was just seeing the bakery in front of me; come to think of it, that explains the giant chicken nugget sculpture on the wall (I thought it was a pastry?). Nice service

This restaurants fried chicken is GOOD. Very crispy and juicy. Definitely expect wait! Also the tend to sell out so if you can go early near their opening time I would! They also have these cool containers that hold your bubble tea and chicken! Never seen that before anywhere else!

My first time in the city and based off recs online we decided to give this place a try. I ordered the chicken cutlet combo and really enjoyed it. The chicken was cooked perfectly- the flavor was great and the crisp was spot on. I also really enjoyed the fries- they were sweet and salty which was def unique but a hit. The boba was good, nothing spectacular. The restaurant is very small with only a few barstools against the wall and got quite crowded while we were waiting for food.

The Chunky Boss location (shared/combined with the Tiger Sugar boba shop) is quite small. There are a few high stools at the counter for seating, but it can get crowded quickly. The chicken took a bit longer to prep than I expected, but it was worth it because the chicken cutlet my boyfriend and I ordered was piping hot and fresh, and tasted so so good. Although the exterior is fried and crispy, the inside is juicy and tender chicken. Tasted great, although be sure to have a drink with you because it definitely makes you thirsty.

Chunky Boss sweet chili chicken cutlet is freaking amazing. The cutlet is huge, bigger than my hand and feels heavy. The sweet chili flavor is delicious and saucy, and the breading is very crispy. I went here two days in a row, first time after a 5k with friends and second day after work. The inside is pretty small and only two seats which is ok. Most people pick up and leave. I think the place needs to upgrade their air conditioning though, it was a hot day and felt hot inside.

I was delighted this afternoon to finally see Chunky Boss appear as an option on Ubereats. I took advantage of their availability and finally tried their chicken, french fries, and boba tea combo. $20 for the meal seemed a bit steep, but when I opened the box after it arrived, I understood why. They give you a giant slab of chicken, probably enough for 2 people. But once you take a bite of that juicy, peppery cutlet, you won't want to share with anyone else. The seasoning of the classic pepper cutlet was zesty and slightly sweet. It complemented the tender and crunchy chicken well. The fries also had a sweeter taste to them, probably due to the seasoning rubbing off on them. The fries were good, but the chicken was GREAT. I would definitely have it again. The other amazing perk that comes with your meal is getting to select a medium drink from Tiger Sugar! It's been too long since my last brown sugar boba from them, so I opted for one to have as a nice dessert after my savory meal. My only regret is that I didn't try Chunky Boss sooner!

The shop is pretty small, but the service is very quick. The chicken came out really juicy and piping hot. It's definitely worth stopping and grabbing a bite to eat at least once.

Came here for the infamous fried chicken patty. We got the spicy version. It came with sauce to make it "spicy". I thought it was going to be in the seasoning but that's my bad. It took 10 min for the chicken to come out. It was piping hot. You could see the steam. Glad i tried this spot out. $9 for the chicken solo.

Note: It's only open for a few hours 11:30-2:30 every day. My friend mentioned this place by Grand Central and it has a whole chicken cutlet. For $16 you get a combo which includes drink (select from the ones with stickers on the menu), chicken cutlet (sandwiches sell out early), and fries. The chicken cutlet with plum powder is larger than my hand. It's sufficient for a meal and truthfully I didn't need the fries with the chicken cutlet and drink. I decided to pick the signature black sugar boba and pearl milk with cream mousse since I didn't have time to examine all the drinks. This is one of the popular drinks and it's one of Tiger Sugar's known drinks. Second time I didn't want black sugar boba and picked lychee black tea with bursting boba. I will try a different powder maybe pepper next time. Give it a try if you are in the neighborhood.

I had to check this place out as my colleague told me that this is a new up and coming spot to check out. Apparently, it's all over social media, too. The place is right near where we work, so I had to go during lunchtime to get the fried chicken cutlets. It's located inside the iconic tiger sugar place. The sign isn't that large for chunky boss, but when you see the sign for tiger sugar, you can't miss it. I was a bit confused as to where you go to order as there was no one to direct you nor a sign. But there's only one way to order the chicken it's with the register inside. The tablet outside is only for tiger sugar. It's quite busy inside. Everyone is either waiting for their food or on the line to order. The menu is simple to understand. You can either order individually or in a combo. The chicken sandwich combos, from what I understand, get sold out fairly quickly, so if you want that, go when they open. The drink that comes with the combos are the tiger sugar ones. The chicken cutlets itself are huge, and the fried batter isn't too thick. I got the spicy one, and it was just tangy. I wasn't asked about the powder, so I forgot to get one with my order. They do give out ketchup packets, too, if you ask for those. Shared the fries with my coworker, and it comes with cheese sauce. All in all, I would go back to try another chicken cutlet flavor.

Came for the chicken cutlet. It was huge and crispy. Had a spicy flavour one. Best to eat while hot. Chicken was soft and easy to chew. Convenient to eat on the go. Fries were good. Order a combo can have a brown sugar milk. More like a whole meal. Goes well with the milk tea. Have to be careful while hot. Service was good, for telling me about having a drink. The store has a huge design of a chicken cutlet, which is artistic.

The food (chicken) was so good, but the decor and inside can be improved. We came in the late morning and there was already a small line of people waiting for their orders. There's not a lot of room inside as it is also share with boba options. There isn't a lot of seating inside at all. We got the classic pepper powder and it was sooo good. I will definitely be back for more!

Since I am self proclaimed foodie I love searching on YouTube for the best food spots around the globe. One day I found a video on the Chunky Boss craze in New York and this was one of the reasons why our recent trip to NYC became a reality. Located a couple of blocks from Time Square you will find this hole in the wall with a very simple menu. We were lucky because on a typical day all items of the menu can sell out, so we ordered their famous fried chicken cutlets with regular and sweet potato fries. The staff were very friendly and gave us a free milk tea which was delicious and smooth. But the moment arrived for the fried chicken cutlets which were huge, and the taste was out of this world. This was the most tender, juicy and tastiest fried chicken I ever had. The exterior of the cutlets were crispy and each bite was bursting with flavor. The fries were also tasty and had a nice sweet and sour taste since they dusted it with a special Taiwanese plump powder. The price for the quality and quantity of our meal was a great deal. I am praying that Miami can get a Chunky Boss location one day.

Yummy spot to grab a snack! We tried the spicy and regular chicken cutlet - i preferred the regular one because the spicy one is actually just sauce drizzled on top. The sauce is a little sweet for my taste and the fried part gets a little soggy as a result. It's a pretty big hunk of meat and despite it being white meat, it was quite juicy and tender!

I wish I could give this place a 3.5 but I'll settle on a 3. Like many of you, I heard about this place on social media, so shout out to viral marketing. What I actually got was disappointing. The main draw is supposed to be the chicken cutlet. It looks nothing like I saw online. The best thing I can say about it is that it's very big. It wasn't too crispy or delicious, I had better and cheaper chicken elsewhere. The highlight of the meal was the fries and boba tea. The fries were crispy and slightly sweet and the boba tea was delicious. I'd give this place a 4 because the only problem I had was with the cutlet itself. Unfortunately since it's supposed to be the star, I'll leave the review at a 3. The only thing that was a miss was the cutlet, the fries, boba, and price were great. I wish it came with more fries. I'd come back for the boba tea but I think I'll pass on the chicken.

Nostalgic chicken cutlet, it was a popular snack originated from Taiwan, I had this when I was a teenager. I ordered the original flavor, glad the set menu also included the Tiger boba tea . The cutlet was tasty but the sweet potato fries were sad. The place was very small with a few countertop seats. The staff was friendly but unfortunately the wait time was super long. This is absolutely not worth the wait of 25 mins.

Giant chicken cutlets are one of my favorite items at night markets in Taiwan. So I was very excited to give this place a try. I'm happy to report that the chicken cutlets here are very good. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's as good as the ones I've had in Taiwan, but it's pretty darn good. This place shares a location with Tiger Sugar. So you can get a lunch combo that includes chicken cutlet and a boba. Service is a bit slow, as the chicken is made to order. So get there early.

I went to find out what the hype was with this place after seeing so many posts on social media. After getting my order I can tell you it's worth the hype. I ordered the chicken cutlet combo with a medium Tiger Sugar drink that's included. Service it's quick for ordering. There's no ambiance as it is too small for seating. The chicken cutlet is very succulent and delicious in my opinion. It's a very huge piece of meat, I recommend getting the sweet chili sauce to compliment.

The food, it's...fine. The drinks are great. The place is tiny, the service counter is 85% of the space. There's a narrow wall mounted counter with 4 bar height stools. Line may seem long but moves fast. Had the famous giant cutlet, fries and a lychee black tea. The chicken was HUGE, juicy with a slight crunch. I wish it was seasoned more. Besides the size, there was no wow factor. Even with the delicious mango and sweet chili sauce it was just ok. The regular fries were sweet which was not expected. The sweet lychee tea was absolute fire. There was a long line but it moved fast because most people were placing drink orders. Now the nice girls working there may have been in high school so I'm not expecting much but they def stopped calling numbers and leaving food on the counter to be discovered. We had to stop another couple because they took our food by mistake. In all not offended or impressed, it's a 3.

Tbh, I've been wanting to try this place for like a month.. and I was a bit disappointed. The sweet chili fried chicken was not what the photos advertised and it was basically just the regular one with a little sauce drizzled on top of it. The chicken texture was good and the flavor was okay, but not amazing. The fries were decent but not anything special either. Service was fine and the interior was tiny. The drink was good though! Not sure if I'll get the chicken again.

I couldn't believe the size for the amount the charged- honestly I was expecting it to be at least half the size. The line was really slow because the first person had a huge order. The cutlet itself was thick, slightly undercooked (perhaps that's how it's meant to be?). I preferred the pepper one to the spicy that basically had some sauce on it.

I was excited to see that a fried chicken cutlet place had opened in NYC, it's reminds me of the night markets I went to Taiwan as a kid. The place itself is pretty small and has a ledge with a few seats to eat at. It's shared with the tiger sugar boba place. I had the crispy chicken cutlet with the classic pepper seasoning. Food was fresh and service was quick. The cutlet was big, moist and crunchy, but could have used a tad more seasoning. Overall, a good substitute for a crispy chicken cutlet instead of flying to Asia!

Just casually eating a big piece of fried chicken cutlet down the street is literally my vibe lol! I love the concept of being able to conveniently eat a piece of protein without getting your hands dirty or using any utensils! Crispy chicken cutlet - 8/10 It is literally a chicken nugget but enlarged. It is very juicy and was made to order. Nice thin crispy crust and it was so easy to eat. I got it with the classic pepper powder which was not spicy it was more simply like black or white pepper to give it some flavor. Spicy chicken cutlet - 7/10 I don't like the spicy chicken cutlet that much because the spiciness comes from a sauce on top of the chicken and it makes the paper all wet and not convenient to hold and eat. The spiciness was also classic pepper powder flavor but it was kind of sweet and hot. Not very spicy at all. Golden Chicken Fingers - 8/10 Classic chicken fingers. Its the cutlet but finger form. Same crust and same flavor. Also, service was excellent! They guided us through the menu and advised us on how to order. They also have a window where you can self order if you feel antisocial. The chicken did take a while to get. It took about 10-15 minutes for the chicken to get fried. It is very small in there and there are only high chairs so it is not convenient to eat there unless you are by yourself. Kind of cramped. Overall, I enjoyed this place! I love the concept of the chicken and they were very fresh and juicy. I was so full I could barely finish 1 chicken cutlet. Definitely worth it!

Unfortunately this was not worth the hype for me. It seems they have partnered with Tiger Sugar and sells chicken + drink as a combo. I opted for the crispy chicken cutler with classic pepper but for some reasons the chicken was sweet? The flavor was not for me :(

This spot shares a space with the Tiger Sugar near Grand Central and serves up some yummy and tender chicken cutlets! I definitely prefer the spicy chicken cutlet which comes slathered in a sweet chili sauce that gives the cutlet a lot more flavor. The value here is pretty solid too - the cutlets are quite large, and if you get one of the combos you get the cutlet, fries and a medium Tiger Sugar drink for about $15! Whenever I've been, it's usually been pretty crowded inside the small store, and sometimes they sell out of cutlets before 2:30pm when they close. There is a counter with some seats so you could eat in, but space is a bit tight so would recommend taking it to-go.

The chicken cutlet came out piping hot (so hot it was hard to eat). It was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The spicy is just a sweet chili sauce, wish we got the original instead. The mango sago drink was so refreshing and delicious. Would definitely get again.

The famous giant cutlets. The chicken itself is fine, flavorful and not dry. Oddly, the fries were actually sweet. Not sure what happened there. You can combo it all up with a drink from Tiger Sugar as well if you're feeling gluttonous. Glad to have a version of this in midtown, along with the Tiger Sugar.

In the world of competitive chicken places around the city , this place bring a very good twist . Excellent piece of chicken ,generous and ....chunky. Good fries and that bubble drink (that I never got into) to complete reasonable combo . Recommended and delicious .

Got the Combo with chicken, fries and a drink to share with a friend and it was more than enough! That chicken is huge! It really is thiccc and juicy. You can choose any drink from Tiger Sugar (same store front) for the combo. There was a short line but the wait was long, good thing they have bar stools and a counter for you to sit at.

Absolutely delicious Taiwanese style chicken. I think the regular version is best as much as I normally like spicy.

Have been meaning to try this place since they got some buzz via social media. Finally made it out to the city and walked there from Grand Central station. It's a tiny spot and share it with Tiger Sugar (tea spot). You order from the same cashier and they have a small menu, which is more than fine. Ordered the chicken cutlet and fries with drink combo. Ordered the original flavor and a side of the mango sauce and sweet chili sauce. Drank the lychee black tea (no boba bc they ran out). To be fair we got there around 5 not too far from the end of their day, but they ran out of ALOT of the drinks. The chicken and fries took awhile to come out, and once it came out it sat on the counter for a little while before anyone let us know about it. We figured it was our order and went to check on it, but the cashier almost gave our order to another patron without even checking the order number on it. Once it finally got to us, we grabbed 2 of the 3 seats they have there along the wall. The chicken was JUST fried and the breading was not staying on the chicken well, BUT it was very hot and steamy on the inside and the chicken breast was moist. Flavor wise, it was lacking and a bit meh overall. The crust was not browned or flaky. It did not look like what was displayed on all the review videos. Fries were crispy, but the seasoning is sweet and was not expecting that flavor profile. The dipping sauces were overly sweet as well and def made with sugar substitutes, so the aftertaste was not to my liking, but my husband enjoyed them a lot. Cashiers were very nice, but def overwhelmed and they were not organized for a busier flow of traffic. The spot is very tiny and def worth taking your food to go. Glad we tried it finally, but not a repeat for me.

The taste was okay, nothing special. I paid over $16+, including tax, for a combo that included a fried chicken cutlet, fries, and a medium-sized tiger sugar drink. When I received the fries, they looked like leftovers (like insult) with two sticks inside the box (don't even know what they were for) , exactly as shown in the picture.

Don't expect much by way of visuals on the restaurant itself. . Teeny spot shared with Tiger Sugar ((which we love). My son and I waited on line which moved ok fast. We got an Original chicken sandwich and it was so huge, perfectly cooked, crunchy and piping hot. The cheese sauce was terrible. We will be back for the chicken!

The service was not very inviting nor welcoming I was asking for recommendations and made me order way more food than expected. I spent a large amount of money and they wouldn't even give me a sauce and kept telling me it's .50 cents. The chicken was supposed to be completely tossed In sauce and they barely poured it over.

With all the hype and social media marketing that came on my feed, I was really excited to try this. Finally, I was close enough to their location I didn't want to lose the opportunity to sink my teeth into their crispy, juicy chicken. IMO, the chicken was way to thick. I was expecting a pounded chicken or even a thinner cut, but it was a whole chicken breast with breading so thin, it literally peeled away from the meat inside. The large chicken breast reminded me of those chicken breasts you find at the grocery store that looked like they've been pumped with chemicals to get the chicken as big as possible. Since I got the combo, I didn't have the luxury of one of those cardboard pockets to hold the chicken and ended up being difficult eating it in my hand while the breading fell off. The fries weren't too bad, with a light sweetness to them. Fried crispy similar to Popeyes fries. However there seemed to be a slight aftertaste that reminded me of sugar substitutes. I ended up not finishing my lunch as the thick breast was just too overbearing. The boba was good.

The chicken is good. No bones in it; in Taiwan places would have bones in it that you have to navigate when eating. The spicy one didn't look like the photo on the menu. From the menu photos I thought the spices would be in the batter and then fried, but it seemed like they just take the original chicken and then brush it with a sauce after it is done cooking. The spice sauce was a bit like the Chick-fil-a sriracha sauce.

Had to check this place out after seeing it on the gram. Huge chicken cutlets... like size of your face huge. But aside from the size which might feel gimmicky, the chicken itself is really good. Very flavorful, crispy on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. The fries in the combo was good as well, I believe they add plum powder on it. The only downside might be the time it takes to get your order and the long lines since they just opened. But hopefully with some time they'll get better with that.

Very disappointed with the chicken! Like everyone I had seen this place all over the internet and there was even a small line right when they opened up at 11:30! The chicken itself was impressive in size but once you bit into it the chicken itself was tough and a little slimy. You could tell it wasn't a quality product and they are more for show on the size than on flavor! The sauces are small but tasty, we tried the cheese sauce and the spicy sauce which is also what they toss the spicy chicken cutlet in! I'd skip this place, it's just for the show!

Today I ordered chicken fingers and was greatly disappointed. I took two bites and had to throw the rest away. This did not taste like chicken at all. I won't be returning to this establishment at all!

Good to try if there is no line, but since they had reduced hours, the line is ridiculously long and there is just too much waiting. I went about 2 weeks ago during lunch on Tuesday when the line was much shorter and still waited about 50 minutes. The chicken piece is very big and juicy but it was not as crunchy as I expected. I got an original chicken to try and It wasn't bad at all but I just wasn't in love with the flavor - I prefer the spicy one instead. Perhaps the workers were just too rushed but I literally had 10 pieces of fries as part of my combo. Will likely go back once the hype really dies down.
