"You know that last day of a bachelorette party, when everyone’s a smidge hungover? You’re going to need a solid breakfast, but you also gotta get those last cute pics before you crawl back to reality. Go to Church & Union. This uptown restaurant is just swanky enough, with black leather seats and faux cherry blossom branches hanging from the ceiling. Start with a $5 mimosa, then go in on the aptly named Holy $H!T Breakfast, which turns the table into a breakfast buffet of fried chicken, bacon, eggs, donuts, biscuits, and jams." - tess allen

"With its exposed ductwork, black leather couches and gorgeous bar, Church and Union is without question Charlotte's sexiest restaurant. And the man in the kitchen, chef Jamie Lynch, is a big deal. The "Top Chef" alum was named best chef by Charlotte Magazine in 2018. Here, inside the ultra-cool boutique hotel The Ivey, his menu is confident and bold, with yellowfin tuna tater tots and spiffed-up steakhouse classics, including a tomahawk for two. Sides are served family-style and—with selections like Southern street corn and white truffle cheddar mac 'n' cheese—they're a main event unto themselves." - Nancy DePalma

The decor is stunning — feathered lamps hang above the bar and the restaurant ceiling is covered in writings from The Art of War. Church and Union in Charlotte is serving up serious vibes. The atmosphere? Bold, moody, and absolutely worth dressing up for. Service was decent—friendly but could’ve used a bit more attention to detail. That said, the food made up for it. Everything I had was above average, but let’s talk about that chicken karaage app… easily one of the better ones I’ve had in a while—crispy, flavorful, and gone too fast. Definitely a spot I’d recommend, especially if you’re looking for a place that brings style with substance.

Google
Attended a birthday gathering and this place did not disappoint. The ambiance gets it a 5 automatically! I tasted the meatballs as my appetizer and they were delicious! Entree was the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and carrots. This was a rather large serving and I couldn’t eat it all. It was also delicious. I had two Gorgeat drinks which were ok. Not powerful enough, but decent. Now the service could have been better. Not sure who our server actually was and they would just stuff in the table and walk away. We had to figure who got what drinks because they literally dropped it off and left. Otherwise, I would definitely go back for a romantic date or self care date.

Church and Union was a good dining experience but not great. The mussels with saffron billi-bi was by far the best dish. Reminiscent of Le Gavroche many years ago in London. Church and Union's was sublime with the distinct perfume of saffron to compliment the mussel stock based cream. The Moroccan meatballs fell flat in comparison. The karrage chicken way over fried but tasty. Nola shrimp was just average. The N.Y strip steak a bit overcooked. The Wagyu flank was undercooked (rare not medium-rare). The roasted salmon delicious but not medium as described and the crispy rice was soggy not crispy. The hand braided ravioli was very good. The haricots verts were just regular undercooked green beans. Proper haricots verts should be the fine, long and tender "French" green beans. It certainly does not warrant a $15 price tag as a side dish for regular green beans. Perhaps charge $18 and use authentic haricots verts? Service from the door, our server Karma & server associate was outstanding. The cocktails very good. Great wine list as well. The ambiance was beautiful but a tad too loud with all the hard surfaces and no sound suppression materials. The flavor profile was there but opportunities exist for execution of a well written menu.

Google
The food was not good at all. The ravioli didn’t taste fresh and it looked way different than what I expected. Not a filling dish, and I felt like I was eating soup. The broccoli was cold and mushy. The mocktails tasted like powdered juice. There was no carbonated soda to give it a kick. Not returning

Google
Orange Juice Mimosa - I dont drink, but the family loved it because it had freshly squeezed orange juice. Ready Orgeat Mocktail- idk what it is, but it is sooooo delicious! Donuts - if you see my reviews, you know I love donuts, and this is a great restaurant quality donut. I'd love this with coffee for my cheat breakfast. Biscuit - really fluffy and buttery. We ate it plain, but it would be great with a jam as well. You definitely want to add it as a side to any brunch item you order. Applewood Bacon - get it, that's it, that's all. Fried Chicken- straightforward flavor with an amazing crunch!! We added hot honey and drizzled it all over the chicken, and that extra burst of flavor was really nice. In my opinion, that's mandatory, lol Shrimp and grits l- my mom really enjoyed it and finished her plate but was busting at the seams! Queens breakfast- eggs fajita style (add tomatoes, onion, and peppers) scrambled, home fries, subbed sausage for bacon, and a biscuit for the English muffin. We really enjoyed our Father's Day Brunch, and everyone on the staff was so attentive and kind!

Google
Delicious food, mid expensive. The swordfish and NOLA shrimp were top notch. The cocktails were also great.

Google
Brought my mom here for Mother’s Day and a friend’s birthday. The service was great and food tasty. The manager also offered champagne to celebrate the birthday, which was so nice. Only complaint was how the tables were positioned on the top level but I assume it was due to the influx of people for Mother’s Day. Outside of that would definitely return.

Google
Excellent experience this morning for my mom’s birthday. Our server Pierce went above and beyond. They brought out some complementary pastries, and we had the epic holy shoot breakfast 😅 shrimp and grits were amazing as well. Amazing unique atmosphere.

Yelp
This platter is called Holy Sh*t Breakfast Choice of 1 mimosa or Bloody Mary $30 per person (2 person minimum) It was huge but worth your money if you like to eat . This place stays busy especially brunch time. Service was very slow for us, we got our food in 35+min. It should been free after that but overall I like the music and the environment. I give them a 4 star due to the service, but I'll be back again

Molly R.

Yelp
Church and Union is a great spot for brunch. The atmosphere is stylish and the service was friendly. The shrimp and grits were absolutely delicious and incredibly filling - I couldn't finish the whole dish of grits! The fresh-squeezed orange juice in the mimosas was a delightful touch. The only downside was the bar seating, which wasn't the most comfortable. Overall, a great brunch experience and definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
I really liked this place! I'm surprised to see the reviews aren't better but a lot of factors there I'm sure. To be fair, we only had a cocktail and sat at the bar, so perhaps not a full experience, but we enjoyed our time here. We stopped in on a Saturday late morning and it was really busy but we somehow snagged two bar seats. It's a large restaurant, with an upstairs, so plenty of places to sit. The first thing that jumped out at us was how cool the atmosphere is. It's a really unique place with beautiful decor. We parked at the deck across the street so it was a quick walk over. We each ordered a cocktail - The Four Gospels and the Ready Orgeat. We loved them! Very tasty with fresh ingredients. Our bartender was extremely cool and friendly. He offered great recommendations. As I said, we didn't order food this trip but saw dishes going by that looked bomb! It smelled amazing here, too. I'd recommend trying C&U!!

Yelp
Recently, I had the pleasure of indulging in a fine dining experience at Church & Union. Making reservations were rather simple. From the moment I walked into this elegant establishment down to the final bite of the beautifully prepared salmon. The entire experience was EXCEPTIONAL. The restaurant is a sophisticated yet eclectic ambiance. Our server was the epitome of professionalism and genuine passion for service. It was apparent throughout the entire evening. I definitely recommend!!!

Yelp
First time at CNU! Celebrated my birthday with family for Brunch. The experience was good. We had reservations, but still had to wait up to 10mins before being seated. The waiting area was limited on space. Once seated everything went well! We had mocktails- they were good. The Potatoes were excellent. Applewood Smoked Bacon omelette was okay. I will go back.

Troy B.

Yelp
7 of us had brunch here on a Saturday morning. The place was packed! But the food came out quickly and we had a good waiter They have a pretty large variety on the menu and several folks at our table liked the mimosas. The only negative i have for this place is it is super LOUD when busy. We had a hard time carrying on a conversation at our table and being able to hear what was said.

Rachel M.

Yelp
The place has a great vibe but the service and the food did not match the ambiance or pricing. We understand that coming in without a reservation may cause frustration but hostess sure went the extra mile to let us know how inconvenienced they were. Server could hardly be found wait times were fairly long and the food was served cold which is disappointing. Flavor combination on burger was good but nothing to rave about. Others in the group did not love their food either. Not worth it and will not be coming back for brunch.

Falan E.

Yelp
My party of four had a brunch reservation. Upon entering, two of us arrived early and enjoyed French 75s at the bar while waiting for our table and the rest of our party. The bartender was friendly, and the restaurant was clean with comfortable seating. Finally seated. Our waiter was pleasant, attentive, and patient. Two of us ordered the HOLY $H!T BREAKFAST to share, and it was enough for all four of us. The fried chicken, bacon, and eggs were delicious, but the donuts were just okay. The others in our party enjoyed the shrimp & grits. Overall, we had a nice time catching up over brunch.

Kristen G.

Yelp
Ohhh!! Think I found a new brunch spot! The staff from the host to our bartender were very personable. We ended up eating at the bar, our bartender was attentive and gave great suggestions. The decor is detailed, so come picture ready. I enjoyed the Queen's Breakfast, substituted the English muffin for a biscuit, but it was a little dry. Next time I will go with toast. My cocktail (Forget Me Not) was delicious, the bartender even substituted the liquor from gin to vodka for me.

Yelp
I chose to host my birthday brunch here this past weekend. One word Phenomenal!! Our server Emma was so attentive and friendly. Our drinks and food came out fast .It was a party of 11 and she checked with a reasonable amount of time. The section where we were seated was so beautiful ! It was intimate and cozy . My entire party couldn't stop raving about how nice are area was. I opted to have the French toast and a side of chicken which was delicious. I can say the French toast was a little sweet for my liking but overall I would give it a a solid 8 out of 10.

Emmanuella M.

Yelp
Went for a birthday brunch and our large group was seated in a cozy area for all of us to see and hear each other. I had the bacon omelet which was seasoned well with the breakfast potatoes. Also shared the French toast with a friend and could use a bit more syrup. The mimosas were 10/10- had the pineapple mimosa but they had awesome flavors to choose from. Would definitely come back for brunch and can't wait to try their dinner! Our server was the real MVP, getting our cake stored and making sure our water glasses were not empty!

Samantha S.

Yelp
This restaurant is located perfectly Uptown Charlotte. Because of the location, you will need to use a parking garage. The walk from the garage to the restaurant is fairly short. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated. We made reservations on OpenTable for brunch. The restaurant is aesthetically appealing with plenty of seating. We were seated on the second floor. Our server, Peter, was very attentive and our food came out fast. However, some of the food was not the highlight. The fried chicken sandwich and house fries were a 4/10. The bread and chicken were dry and the house fries lacked season. I asked for no pickles but still received them on my meal. The server was apologetic. The French toast and sausage were a 9/10. The mimosa flight was good with various flavors. Although this place came highly recommended, I doubt I would visit again.

Chigozie S.

Yelp
It was a nice experience. I enjoyed myself. Ambiance was good. I would recommend it.

Yelp
Came in for Founders Day in January with a party of about 20. Though we had to wait or a brief second, we were sat comfortably and helped efficiently. The service was fantastic and they even brought us complimentary champagne to celebrate! The biscuits and gravy was very unique and something I would 100% order again. I enjoyed it.

Yelp
Tonight, we decided to go to Church and Union before heading over to the Blumenthal Theatre for dinner. We had a 6 PM reservation, and while this place is always lively, it seemed even more packed than usual. I was relieved that we had a reservation because we were seated almost immediately. We started with the butcher slate and the Moroccan meatballs, both of which were incredibly delicious. In fact, I enjoyed the Moroccan meatballs so much that I ordered them again for my entrée, paired with a side of Brussels sprouts. My friend opted for the roasted salmon. Our waiter, Fernando, was excellent--knowledgeable about the menu, offering great drink recommendations, and attentive throughout the meal. Would I revisit? Absolutely. This place has yet to disappoint.

Nequel B.

Yelp
Lovely brunch spot. Jeremy our server was great! We made reservations and were seated quickly! I would recommend reservations for brunch it stated to full up quickly. The food was absolutely amazing!! Loved the grits they were so buttery. This is definitely a good place to catch up with friends or even celebrate a birthday. It wasn't too loud. The menu options were hard to choose from, everything sounded and looked delicious. The drinks were also good. I would definitely come back!

Theresa H.

Yelp
The food was a mix. We ordered the birds of paradise and ghost to drink. The ghost was a 3/5, the birds of paradise was a 5/5. They gave us complementary hummus and chips but our drinks had not arrived yet. The hummus and chips were a 5/5. For an appetizer we ordered meatballs. My husband loved them. They seemed slightly mushy to me but the sauce was wonderful. We ordered the miso short rib. The meat was tender and delicious. The sweet potato purée was very good. The mushrooms were underwhelming. The bok choy was not seasoned at all. A touch of salt would've made it great. The person next to us asked for salt. They ordered the same thing. The short rib and sweet potato puree was great individually but all the components on the plate did not work well. Maybe due to under-seasoning of the mushrooms and bok choy. The service was great. The waiter took our order in a timely fashion and was very nice. The check came in The Art of War Book. The waiter explained that on the ceiling were actual quotes from the book. It looked like the whole book was written on the roof and wall. Love it! The service was 5/5 and ambiance was a 4/5 because community seating is not the best when on a date especially when in the middle of two other tables.

Zara T.

Yelp
I found our brunch to be most enjoyable! We met up with friends on a rainy Saturday. Our table was tucked away in the corner, yet felt spacious. The setup is nice, so you don't feel packed in close to other groups. We ordered a carafe of mimosas and then ordered the lamb burger and mushroom omelette. Both were very tasty! As someone who doesn't eat pork, there weren't a ton of brunch choices (breakfast is always hard), though I'm sure recipes can be modified if you ask. Overall the space is interesting and a fun meetup spot with friends. A little loud and a little pricey, but it's uptown! To be expected. We will be back at some point - could see it being a fun setup for an event or happy hour, too.

Yelp
Church and Union in Charlotte offers a unique dining experience, blending rustic charm with a contemporary vibe. The menu features a creative culinary twist on classic dishes. A standout dish is their French toast, which is the best I've ever had. With excellent service and a warm, inviting ambiance that feels just right, Church and Union is a fantastic spot for both casual dining and special occasions. However, it's important to note that parking isn't the easiest and often requires paying to park.

Bambi S.

Yelp
Was in the area and met some friends here for brunch. A reservation was booked online which made our arrival very seamless. There is a parking garage just past the restaurant within the same block which was very convenient since I was from out of town and was not familiar with the area. The restaurant has a very nice vibe and played great music. We arrived early, however, we waited at the bar until our table was ready. Our came to get us when our table was ready and promptly took our drink orders. The menus had a variety of interesting dishes, however, our party predominately ordered shrimp and grits and the holy $h!t breakfast (which is shareable). The consensus was that the food was greatly proportioned and very favorable. Additionally, the mimosas flowed abundantly. This place is a great place to eat alone or with friends. I would definitely visit again.

Courtney S.

Yelp
I really love that they've switched it up recently and do an economy gastronomy initiative and offer a 3 course prix-fix for $50 a person. There are a few add-ons for $5, like the 9oz filet and 10oz NY strip. It's a wonderful value for the quality of the food. We enjoyed all of our meals, but my absolute favorites were the white chocolate crème brûlée and the French onion agnolotti. Highly recommend the miso short rib and swordfish!

Mike B.

Yelp
Très cool spot in Uptown Charlotte. Not really the spot for an intimate dinner but it's a fun see and be seen atmosphere. Pro tip- even though the address is 127 N Tryon Street, the entrance is actually a block down on E 5th Street. Wandered around a little before calling them to learn where to enter. Reservations honored to the minute. It's a large square room with a bar on the left wall, seating in tables on the bar level and on an upper tier (3 steps up). The interior is funky, hipster urban chic. Bustling and loud. The tree at the host stand is very cool. The Art of War is inscribed in white paint on the black ceiling. A unique touch, attributed allegedly to the owner's approach to business. Umm... okay. Service is iffy. Ordered a side of brussels sprouts as an appetizer. Plus a crab cake and filet as entrees. Either the kitchen was confused or the server, but the brussels were served at the same time as the crab cake but the filet was nowhere to be found. Only after checking with the kitchen was it discovered that the filet was never fired. The result - a pet peeve - is that food at the table gets cold waiting politely while the other entree is cooked. That said, the food was very good. Brussels served halved, broiled with chunks of pork and dusted with cheese. Crab cake served in a pool of chowder with dollops of chili oil to add a little heat. Big cake - very little filler and prepared perfectly. Filet butter-tender and cooked exactly medium rare. Served with a side of crushed potatoes and a cup of 3-1 sauce (untouched by that excellent filet). Room for dessert this time, too! Carrot cake here is a unique take... cream cheese mouse topped, served on a schmear of brown sugar puree and crushed candied walnuts. It was more of a slice of pie than carrot cake - delicious and different.

Yelp
Food: it was good but I was a bit disappointed with the shrimp and grits. It is way over seasoned and the grits are not too creamy as I expected to be. The Fried Chicken Biscuits were really good! I asked for a biscuit on the side to try it out and it was great too. The fries that comes with the sandwich are really good and soft in the inside. Ambiance: it is nice, relaxed but it was really cold inside (outside too) and that was a bit unpleasant during our visit. Service: as expected, it was good and efficient. The server brought an extra order of fries that we didn't order. He asked if we wanted to eat and we said yes since it was already there. To our surprise he then charged us $5 for it. This is absolutely ridiculous! The restaurant also wants you to tip the kitchen which is also absurd. For those two reasons I am giving 3 stars and will not be considering going back here soon enough. Overall is a pretty decent brunch place, but beware of the issues stated above.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
I had a great time at Church and Union's Saturday brunch. The decor is amazing; I enjoy the art on the walls and the way the restaurant is laid out. The service was quick, and they have a ton of options for drinks, including Cadillac mimosas carafes and regular juices. We had the shrimp and grits and a mushroom omelette. It was all spectacular, and I will be visiting again while in CLT.

Dallas A.

Yelp
My arteries hate me after my visit to Church and Union--I had the most buttered French toast I've ever had in my entire life. The flavor was good, and I liked the bananas and nuts, but there was so much butter I started feeling a bit queasy. This is definitely a fixable problem for the restaurant. Outside of the food, our server was friendly and gave us a rundown of the restaurant, explaining that the book "The Art of War" is written on the ceiling several times (along with a couple Simpsons quotes), and presenting the check to you inside a copy of that same book (which you can sign your name in).

Lauren R.

Yelp
Great mimosas and food! Love the old school New York style vibe and jazz music. We sat at the bar and had great service!

Toya B.

Yelp
Had an RSVP on thanksgiving. The food was good, everyone was in good spirits. What left a weird taste was the RSVP, I made one for 715, didn't get seated until near 8. Also, the music was SO LOUD which then made people shout at one another to hear. I may try this place again, on another night.

Kendra B.

Yelp
Where have I been?! Brunch was fantastic! Service was great, food was excellent, and ambiance/decor were beautiful. A friend and I went for brunch on a Friday morning. We had a reservation but they weren't crowded. We both ordered flights of mimosas. I had the shrimp and grits, she ordered avocado toast and sausage, and we split the bananas foster french toast. The shrimp and grits were really good! Lots of flavor, with bacon and mushroom mixed it. It was expecting it to have a roux or gravy like sauce but it was very good without all of that. It had just the right amount of salt. I finished the whole dish! I am someone who has a hard time choosing between sweet and savory breakfast items so I knew I had to have the bananas foster french toast too. I'm so glad we ordered it; it was phenomenal!! You really didn't need syrup but I enjoyed it with a little syrup anyway. I wish you could order a side/smaller portion of it, but it worked out that my friend and I split it. Service was great! Roman did a great job taking care of us. I HIGHLY recommend this place for bunch. I'll be back!

Sue W.

Yelp
The ambiance is so cute. With the cherry blossoms inside and the art of war on the ceiling. I enjoy the mimosas but grapefruit was my fav. The omelette was ok, Maybe a little cheese or something on top would have helped. A dash of Salt and pepper made it enjoyable. The bacon was paper thin. Still tasty but very thin. The service was great! My friend got the lamb burger which she enjoyed. The place has such an amazing look I wanted the food to be a bit more excitingly.

Nicole W.

Yelp
Such a fun time! We came for brunch with my book club party of 15. I made a reservation a few weeks beforehand and there were no issues. We were sat almost immediately. Our server was extremely attentive and the food came quickly. It was delicious and great portion sizes for the price. The only thing I didn't know was that there would be gratuity added on to all of our bills because of the party size. No one minded but I just didn't expect it and it hadn't been listed anywhere on the reservation or anything like that. I would definitely return to try their other menus. Brunch was incredible.

Lisa F.

Yelp
Neither of us thought about a reservation and they were able to quickly get us in which was great. The service was on point and food better than expected. The mimosa was perfectly paired with our food. I would definitely recommend

Lynette F.

Yelp
As expected in Uptown Charlotte, hard to find parking. I thought I had seen reference to courtesy valet parking, but that is not available. Restaurant has a cool vibe with contemporary art and decor all around. We were celebrating a birthday brunch. Our server was very attentive. Reservations are recommended (especially for large parties). There is not a lot of room. With drinks (alcoholic) and food it was about $42/person.

Rika T.

Yelp
This place is a hit or miss for me! I've visited twice. The first time the service as good and food was not great. This time it was the complete opposite. We were seated and weren't given drinks for maybe 20! Then after maybe 30'minutes a tray of hummus and crackers came out for a party of 5! Just one! Our orders and food finally came and again the service was slow and my food was just okay. The ambiance was amazing and my drink was pretty good.

Matt W.

Yelp
Wow, just wow, the best meal i have ever had in my life. The restaurant décor was interesting. Art of the War covered the ceiling and actual Art of War books were what servers used to attach the check at the end of the meal. The lighting and big cherry blossom tree in the corner just added to the themed setting. Server was very professional and efficient with a friendly-sort of chill vibe. Started with a mezcal margarita with a tajin rim. They also give chips and humus as a free starter. The hummus had great flavor. My meal was the lamb burger. The burger was truly out of this world. It was juicy and had so much flavor with the melted gorgonzola cheese and their "secret sauce!! The entire meal is enough to make me want to back to Charleston just for that. The stars of the meal, the lamb burger were enough for me to give this restaurant 5 stars and highly recommend it.

Brittanie H.

Yelp
I came here for brunch last Friday with my besties. One of them had been here before and liked it; the other and I had not. We made a reservation as we heard that even Friday brunch can be a bit busy. We were welcomed and promptly seated upon arrival, and they were winding down the brunch service, so it wasn't overly packed. The ambiance is hard to pin down. It is a chic, goth, artsy vibe. I would summarize it as mildly elevated but approachable. We sat and ordered cocktails while we waited for our third member to arrive. We both got the Birds of Paradise, which was tropical and refreshing and featured my new favorite cocktail addition, cinnamon. It was pretty tasty. I ordered the Fried Chicken Biscuit with the gravy on the side for my meal. I am glad I did because if not, the saltiness of the elements together would've overwhelmed the dish. Instead, I enjoyed the perfectly cooked fried chicken and the savory, well-textured biscuit. The home fries were just okay. Our waiter, Diego, was the pinnacle of our experience. He was warm, honest, helpful and full of knowledgeable anecdotes that made our experience.

Nicasha M.

Yelp
Sunday Brunch Visit Ambience-very cool speak easy vibes Service-was okay, not very attentive, took forever after being seated to be acknowledged with similar flow for remainder Food Ordered- Applewood Bacon Omelette - Flavor was not there, cheese was clumped in middle, and was overcooked French Toast- Pretty good nice touch with banana and candied walnuts Crab Benedict- needed more seasoning Half order of Fried Chicken- pretty golden brown crust but chicken itself lacked seasoning all the way through and was not cooked long enough. Did not pull off the bone easily. Had to bring home and try to cook longer which ultimately led to it being trashed. Mimosa Flight- All flavors were bitter, not sure what mix of champagne and juice was used but need to revamp.

Alecia C.

Yelp
I've seen this place several times on social media and was excited to try them out. I went here for a birthday dinner and the experience overall is slightly overhyped and a tad underwhelming. The venue is very aesthetically appealing and there is a parking deck right next to the restaurant for your convenience. I ordered from the Queen's Feast restaurant week menu which was 3 courses. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the portion sizes of everyone's food was generally on the smaller side. The melon and bacon was very tasty and I wanted more. The steak was very buttery, but the mashed potatoes were just ok in my opinion. Out of all the courses, the carrot cake was the best. I loved the cream cheese purée that was in the middle and the sweet potato on the side was really tasty as well. Our server Joey was nice and attentive. I know fine dining can come with smaller portions, but I was still hungry after leaving the dinner (took the carrot cake to go). I was with a large party, so gratuity was added automatically. The bill for all the food that was pictured was $51 total. Overall, I don't feel the meal was worth the price tag, but it was a cool experience largely due to the ambience. I necessarily won't be jumping up and down to recommend this place to a friend, but it was just ok.

Yelp
Some of the BEST green beans I've had. Little after 5pm on a Friday, no line and lots of room at the bar. Each time I'm here the food is great. 2 different bartenders made the cocktail and they tasted the same each time which isn't always the case.

Yelp
Dinner Sunday Jan. 5 was FANTASTIC! Not busy after the holidays and a Sunday evening but they delivered their A-game with food and service. The Butcher's Filet, Miso Short Rib, Poke bowl, brussels (with plenty of pork belly) and the carrot cake were all great. We had not been but will definitely return. Many thanks to Nico and his team!

Yelp
Fun ambient environment located in the heart of downtown. The menu had a great variety for brunch. The portions were great and service was top notch. On a Friday for bunch they were not super busy but people were in and out the entire time. The vibe here was also great. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
I'm so loving the aesthetics of this place. Beautifully designed and just so unique. Some unique aspects: * Book used as the check holder. * Words from the book written across the ceiling. * Large mirrored wall adding depth. * Classy wine closet. * Faux yet real looking cherry blossom tree at entrance. While visiting my son, we made reservations for brunch and it was a treat! The place looks amazing and everyone was just so friendly and kind. The manager came over to speak as they always do, but he also gave us a little tour of the other side of the restaurant. We were able to see the unique wine closet and the design of the upper area. The place is well laid out, large capacity so many people were dining. The food was So Delicious... I highly recommend the pancakes so fluffy and light. I could go on and on so you must put it on your places to try the next time you're in Charlotte!

Yelp
My wife, our 3 grown children, and their significant others were in Charlotte for a Panthers football game. On Saturday we hit downtown Charlotte, and decided to also have dinner downtown. Church and Union was the perfect choice. There were 8 in our party, but they had a table large enough for us, and we were quickly seated a little before our reservation. Drinks were great, service was great, and Pierce did a top notch job. My wife had the roasted salmon and glazed broccoli, I had the beast loaf and a caesar salad. I was actually going to have something else, but curiosity got the best of me and I had to ask Pierce exactly what was beast loaf. When he said it was meatloaf made with bison, elk and wild boar, I was sold. Now I have always said my wife's meatloaf is my favorite of all time, but this beast loaf was just a tiny bit better (sorry, honey). It is amazing. We also went all out and had the banana smash for dessert, which is great. Everyone in our party raved about what they got, so I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Lookit, Listen! If you're looking for a goodt, yes, goodT, brunch, Church and Union will meet the expectation! Located on the corner of Church and 5th, there is street parking, and two ideal garages-directly across the street is the Avenue Condo parking garage, and about .25 of a mile away, on 6th, directly across from the Discovery Place, there's the 5/3 Bank garage. That one is ideal to help walk off some of the goodness you will have at Church and Union. I'm sure there are other parking options heading the other direction, towards 4th, but, I didn't go that way. The servers were all friendly and welcoming, our server made us feel comfortable, was attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. He didn't get impatient as we asked questions and shared way too many jokes and stories about our food likes or dislikes. Jonathan B was the best! The food: We started with the Chicken Karrage. It is made with chicken thighs, there may be some breast meat, bit mainly thighs. It's boneless chicken, coated and fried, with sriracha, togorashi, umami, and an Asian inspired coleslaw. It was an overly salty to me, but the flavors were great. I would've loved it but for the salt level. My husband ordered the Chef Jamie's Lamb Burger, which is 50/50 lamb and beef. He loved the flavor, saying it was fresh, herbal, and perfectly balanced. My friend and I got the Holy $h!t Breakfast Platter, and let me tell you...delicious! This could easily feed 4, based on appetites, but especially with a side of grits and home fries. The home fries are delicious-well seasoned, perfectly cooked-delicious. I didn't have the grits, but my friend said they have a hint of sweetness, and Jonathan advised that the grits come with cheese already in them, but you can add more. Now, this platter: the chicken had a VERY crunchy breading, but the meat was moist. It's a very solid fried chicken, and you get 1/2 a chicken. Then, it comes with about 6-8 pieces of bacon which is perfectly cooked, 4 house-made donuts which are deliciously flavored-seemed to be a little berry flavor, and they keep for at least 2 days; eggs-which looked beautiful, but I didn't try, and THEM BISCUITS! Whew, I love them! They are crispy around the edges, soft and fluffy on the inside, the buttermilk flavor, the house-made jam...man, oh, man. I could eat one of these every day! I truly enjoyed this brunch and the overall restaurant vibe. Perfect spaces for large groups, nice decor, great music, a chill vibe and nice ambiance. I look forward to my next visit for lunch or dinner, quickly followed by another brunch visit...several brunch visits. It was a great experience!

Yelp
I am truly not a breakfast person. But boy oh boy this place is top tier. The ambiance is so beautiful. Me and fiancé. And family came here for brunch 11-9-2024. We found this place from a food review on instagram. The food look so amazing so we had to try it. We got the hollysh*t breakfast which is $35 per person which comes with a mimosa of your choice. Our family got a chicken sandwich with Alabama White sauce and omelette, sausage, and bacon. Everyone truly love their food. The service was amazing. The only thing I didn't care for much is the eggs on the platter which it was so much and didn't have flavor and not much cheese. But the homemade donuts and biscuits were so delicious. But the bacon and fried chicken was my favorite. (I wish I had more) the fried chicken was as so crispy I need a box of just chicken) lol but overall everything was good. When we come back to Charlotte will definitely stop by again. Thanks for showing us amazing time.

Yelp
We went for our anniversary, and the atmosphere is so beautiful, the grits were OK, but the chicken biscuit really stole the show, I think I'll be getting that next time! The cocktail was also very tasty !

Yelp
I have to raveeeee about this place because I've been trying to get here for 2 years but this past weekend was my time!!! the location was great and aesthetically pleasing. I loved the cherry blossom tree and the writing on the walls. My fiancé admired truly admired what it stood for and in a sense how it made you question worldly issues but also brought you together. The cranberry mimosas were and our food was mouth watering. My love got the chicken sandwich with home fries and I got the egg and cheese croissant with home fries. Very simple but when I tell you they did the damn thing...hats off to the cook and servers...the wait was worth it and we will be back!!!!

Yelp
It's a cute space with art and chandeliers! The service was great. We enjoyed Scarlet. She was on point with our needs and a pleasant young lady. The flight of mimosas is a must for brunch! The biscuits are super tasty, the Queens breakfast was perfectly served and I HAD to try the fried chicken wings on the side! You don't need condiments. Everything is seasoned to perfection! The shrimp and grits are incredibly tasty, but the grits could be just a little more creamy and cooked down. Overall, I would certainly go back!! It's one of my favorites now.

Yelp
The parking situation was a little hard, considering where the restaurant is located, but it's a super clean and walkable neighborhood. The general aesthetic and overall vibe inside of the restaurant was great for Saturday morning brunch. A bit of low lights and high ceilings still gave me the fall, cozy vibe. We enjoyed our food, and the service was great. I was a little disappointed in the small portion for my entrée, I assumed it would be the standard 2 Benedict cakes for the meal. The bartender went above and beyond to accommodate any special drink requests that we had, even after we were seated at our table. Would definitely visit again and try the dinner menu!

Yelp
I ordered the Mushroom Omelette & it was good! The service was great & the ambiance was awesome! I'd go back again for brunch
