"If you're looking for a pretty typical North End place complete with white tablecloths, a Sinatra soundtrack, and a server who will always recommend the bolognese first, head to Ciao Bella. It has two dining rooms - a more casual and fun bar downstairs, and a quieter upstairs overlooking the cobblestones of North Square. The food certainly isn't bad, but there isn't really much to distinguish it from any one of dozens of other nearby restaurants." - Dan Secatore

Amazing experience! I had a wonderful time at this Italian restaurant. The mushroom pizza was absolutely delicious — perfectly baked with great flavors — and the tiramisu was one of the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy, with a beautiful interior and a lovely terrace. Special thanks to the manager/hostess , Anna, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Great food, great service, and a place I’ll definitely return to! Thanks! 🇮🇹🍕🍝🍮🤌

All the food we got was perfect. Complimentary bread was nice and crusty on the outside and soft inside. Servers were very kind and friendly. Great options for seating and dining. We sat outdoors today and it was gorgeous out. Good dessert. Great selection of wines too. A little issue occured with our food but they were able to handle it quickly and with ease and care.would recommend for a casual fine dinning experience.

Absolutely best Italian restaurant on this side of the metro. The service was top notch, our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, made excellent suggestions, was attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was perfect, beautiful modern decor and low lights (has a romantic vibe to it). And lastly, the food was exceptional from the bread, to our appetizer, meal and dessert, all was amazing. The bread was delicious- warm, tasted freshly made with delicious churned butter. We had the calamari, probably some of the best calamari in MN, Lightly breaded and salted, and calamari was tender and tasted fresh. We had several dishes, all amazing. Overall, I would say the sea bass was the best, although all of our dishes were excellent. The seafood (salmon, scallops and sea bass all were tender, flavorful and delicious). The pasta (we had a few different ones) tasted freshly made and were delicious. Overall I can't say enough about our experience, thank you for an amazing dinner experience.

Absolutely loved this place! The food was authentic and full of flavor—especially the crème brûlée and tiramisu, and the service was warm and attentive. The atmosphere felt cozy and authentically Italian. Highly recommend if you’re craving delicious,Italian food!

Google
Visited this restaurant for a business dinner and it was fantastic. Fried calamari was very unique but delicious. I loved my halibut special and dessert. Our server was on top of everything, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions. The restaurant is nicely decorated and well maintained. My only minor issue is that the acoustics make this restaurant really loud so you will find yourself practically yelling at the person next to you. I would definitely revisit.

Great outdoor space! Lovely selection of Italian dishes and be sure to ask about the specials! The mushroom truffle pizza was a stand-out and our server was so nice and the right amount of attentive!

Sea Bass ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lamb Linguini ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tuscan Kale Salad ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Red wine; Blend Origin Swift '8 Years in the Desert', Cali ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = $140ish (including tip) for two Notes: Sea Bass is possibly the best item on the menu. Incredible service. Perfect for business or romantic outings! We went on a Tue at 7pm without reservations, it was a 30-40min wait but the bar area and quality of the experience made the wait worth it. It was quite packed, so something to consider when scheduling your visit if noise level is a concern.

We hosted a family birthday dinner last Saturday for 15 people, nine adults and six children. Everything about the event was perfect! They were very easy to work with in the planning stages. The area that we were seated in worked well for our group. The service was professional and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Our server EK, was outstanding. She took such great care of everyone in our group. The food as always was very good. There were a few people in our group that had never been there before. They were very impressed. We have been to dinner and lunch at Ciao Bella before, but have never hosted a larger gathering. We were so impressed with how the entire evening went that we will definitely be back...soon. People are still contacting me to tell me what a great evening it was.

Yelp
First time eating at this fine establishment, and I must say, I can't wait to come back! Made a reservation and was happily greeted and seated promptly. The ambience was lively as I walked through the main area, as many were celebrating their special occasions. I chose a seat near the side of the restaurant with the perfect dim lighting. Not knowing what to get, I asked the server for any recommendations. Amelia was informative about how all the ingredients are responsibly sourced to the highest quality. She was engaging and authentically friendly, there was definitely an underlying sense of fulfillment and passion naturally. Her recommendations were also spot on! As it was my first time in Minnesota, I had to try the Walleye. As Amelia was explaining the specials, I knew I had to order the recommended seasonal dish! Parmesan crusted Walleye filets on top of cauliflower rice, pancetta, and Brussels sprout leaves with a creamy carbonara sauce...I savored every bite of this beautiful creation, with the perfect balance of crispy, salty, and buttery fishy goodness. As if I had room for desert, Amelia also came through clutch by suggesting the seasonal pumpkin cake. Again, the decadence was overwhelming as I tasted the pumpkin butter cake with cream cheese filling, vanilla bean gelato, and Carmel/Pecans drizzled on top. Overall, the food at Ciao Bella was legendary. I will definitely be returning because the service from Amelia was out of this world. What a treat!

Yelp
Went to Ciao Bella on a Tuesday night at 6pm for my birthday dinner with family. The parking lot was packed! The restaurant itself is huge, but feels warm and elegant. White table cloths, stone fireplace, mood lighting. The wait staff were professional and knowledgeable. They serve warm bread & butter to start - unreal! I had to use all my willpower not to fill up on this :) We had the avocado bruschetta as an app, which was yummy. Our table of 6 ordered several different entrees, but I had the red pepper linguine with scallops (remove pine nuts) and my bestie had the butternut squash ravioli. The scallops were delicious, some of the best I've had. The red pepper linguine had a light citrusy sauce which I thought could've been a little more flavorful, or else they needed more or it, but this might just be my preference. The ravioli was outstanding, very rich with a brown butter taste. The crispy pancetta on top added a salty flavor with crunchy texture. We finished with the crème brûlée which was delish as well! I want to come back for happy hour, or to sit at the bar for a more casual experience.

Kolade B.

Yelp
There was ample parking. It did not take much time before getting seated. The seats were very comfortable. Especially the booth seating. The pizza was amazing. So was the ravioli. It was first time having ravioli in a long time. The waitress was very attentive. The chilli flakes helped jazz up the ravioli.

Yelp
I've lived in the area a long time but not sure why I haven't heard of this place sooner! A friend invited me out for dinner and we found a place half way between our houses. This is a large restaurant with a large outdoor patio, that we were lucky enough to enjoy in late October. The menu has a lot of great choices. We were in the mood for pasta but the pizzas going by past us looked delicious! I went with the chicken fettuccini, I was intrigued by the "Pinot Grigio cream sauce", and it did not disappoint. The service was exceptional and the food was good. One remark I want to make is that the inside part of the restaurant was very loud so I did want to mention that.

Amintha R.

Yelp
So just a quick addition to the bread, they have mini sized desserts, so if you ate your feelings but still want something sweet, they have the solution for you!

Rickie G.

Yelp
Always good selections and service. Love the upscale venue - white table cloths and dark wood. Can be a bit noisy.

Lorie E.

Yelp
I don't know why anyone who comes to MSP goes anywhere beside Ciao Bella....it is excellent in all. The food. The service. The location. If you haven't come here please do!

Natasha J.

Yelp
I've dined inside and on the patio. Both experiences were amazing. The Parmesan Shrimp is to die for the shrimp have a light airy breading. Both sauces are delicious in their own way. Crab cakes were warm and well seasoned which also had a phenomenal aioli sauce. Ended lunch with a beautiful and tasty cappuccino with biscotti. Can't wait to dine outdoors there again. The waitstaff was super attentive and personable.

Ryan G.

Yelp
Too bad I don't live in MN, if I did I'd be at this restaurant more often than I should be. I came here while visiting town and it was amazing. The place really feels like an old school, upscale Italian restaurant, where the staff treat everyone like a friend. We were seated and served quickly and our waitress had plenty of good recommendations for us, from wine to apps and pasta. The complementary bread is addictive and we had to get several orders of it. For an app, we got the Parmesan crusted shrimp. It sounds simple, and maybe it is, but wow these things were good. They also give you a generous portion of them which was a nice surprise. They are served with this lemon aioli which was amazing. We had ti get more of the aioli and then used it for the bread as well. I think I'd eat my foot if it had this aioli on it.. wow. For my entree, I got the red pepper linguini with scallops. I thought it sounded a bit unique, and it turned out to be exactly that. The seafood is flown in every day, and you can definitely tell the freshness. The pasta was also freshly made and really paired nicely, along with a glass of white wine. The location is in a business park area, with plenty of parking. Give yourself an extra few minutes to get there if going in 2024, construction season is in full bloom and the area around there is currently wrecked. Give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Stefano R.

Yelp
Excellent Italian spot. Was a little nervous that this place wasn't going to be all I hoped for because, from the outside it looks large and like a mall restaurant. The menu was so compelling though, I had to try it and it was everything I'd hoped for. The interior and service reminded me of a high end steakhouse. The menu had something for everyone and made it extremely difficult to make decisions. I "settled" on the Herb Linguini with Braised Lamb (pictured) and it was fantastic. Our table also shared the Seared Ahi Tuna and Avocado Bruschetta appetizers which were very good. Solid martinis and a chocolate lava cake that somehow never got shared with me. Highly recommend

Richard B.

Yelp
Im a sucker for homemade pasta. The herbed linguini with lamb ragù was to die for. Service is extremely attentive. Surprisingly so seeing as how busy the bar is

Yelp
Wow! Amazing food and drink selection, great service, and an ambience that makes you want to stay a while. Ciao Bella is a great spot for a business lunch, meet-up with friends, or a romantic night out. They offer fresh and delicious food complemented by a vast assortment of beverages, including a wine list that seems to never end. I've come here twice and have nothing but good things to say. The fresh walleye sandwich is a great lunch choice when it's in season and the brasiliana salad is a solid choice for any occasion. With the diversity of their menu, I believe that pretty much anyone could find something that suits their mood. Ciao Bella has my vote. Great execution all around. If I lived in the area I'd be here all the time. Pro Tip: I highly recommend you devour the warm bread when the basket arrives. If you really want to start the meal off right, slather it with butter and enjoy with a beverage.

Yelp
Ciao Bella offers a warm and inviting ambiance that makes it a standout choice for both casual and special occasions. Recently, I had the pleasure of dining there and indulging in their renowned Margarita pizza, which left a great impression. Parking is a breeze with a parking lot that wraps around the building. It is also nearby many shops off France ave. It is a great addition to add to any girls day or date night itinerary. I was greeted by friendly staff and an elegantly designed interior that perfectly balances sophistication and comfort. The atmosphere is enhanced by soft lighting and tasteful decor, creating a cozy yet upscale dining environment. Now, onto the star of the evening: the Margarita pizza. Ciao Bella's take on this classic Italian dish is nothing short of exceptional. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, with just the right amount of chewiness. Topped with a vibrant tomato sauce, fresh basil, and generous slices of creamy mozzarella, each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The freshness of the ingredients was evident, and the balance of the simple yet robust flavors truly made this pizza a memorable dish. Pairing my meal with a glass of their house white wine further elevated the experience beautifully. The service throughout the meal was impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who ensured that every need was met promptly and courteously. I am hoping to return to dine on their famous patio in the near future.

Jingle M.

Yelp
Fabulous evening celebrating a 63rd anniversary for my best friend! Tina, as always was the BEST, serving us with efficiency unmatched. Scored with a table on their beautiful patio and ate like Kings . . and Queens. Will be back often.

Crystal D.

Yelp
The patio is perfect for a nice summer day. Service was fast and friendly, always coming by at the right time. We started with bread for the table that was so good it didn't even need butter and believe me I love butter. For my entree I enjoyed the small serving of the Spicy Crab Spaghetti. For lunch this was the serving size that got me through the rest of the work day and didn't leave me too full. It had large pieces of crab that were easy to eat and tasted fresh. There was only a subtle spicy with the Fresno chilis, so this is a dish that almost anyone could enjoy. The noddles were fresh made egg pasta and you could tell! My phone unfortunately did not eat first for this meal!

Kamron A.

Yelp
Absolutely a great place! Service is outstanding, food quality is top shelf and portions are excellent! Great atmosphere and definitely a must hit! Brittany was an amazing as a server and the chicken parmigiana is excellent as is the caprese salad! The fettuccine pasta with spinach infused is excellent! Will definitely be back!

Debra M.

Yelp
We do really love the food here, but at 4:30 on a Wednesday it was absolutely packed, and some tables in the bar were even reserved. We squeezed in to a high top bar table for eight at one end and it was fine, but it was stupid loud in there. We could hardly hear each other talking. I chose the Roasted Red Pepper Linguini and Scallops which came with a generous amount of chèvre cheese and the creaminess was perfect against the spicy linguini. Delicious scallops, as always, melted in my mouth.

Tyler W.

Yelp
One of our favorite Italian restaurants on the south side of the cities! Ciao Bella is a huge space with a nice bar, great atmosphere, and very good food. The spicy crab spaghetti was such a different dish for me that was so good and I have been craving going back for. Super light, and a surprising amount of flavor for a seafood dish! I would highly recommend.

Jay S.

Yelp
Pretty much everything in terms of food taste was just okay, with the gelato and the cobbler as the biggest highlights. When my partner and I entered the restaurant, it was packed, so we had a level of expectation that unfortunately wasn't met. However, I will notate that we had a great server who was very attentive to our needs. The ahi tuna springrolls weren't bad at all as one could taste every flavor included, including the tuna. It wasn't amazing but definitely an appetizer worth ordering. The avocado bruschetta had a lot of burrata and the smashed avocado wasn't really seasoned, so it tasted a bit plain and oily. I think some garlic powder for the avocado might help. The walleye had a lot of breading but not enough fish meat, and with the fish meat it had, it still tasted a bit fishy. The marinated potatoes at the bottom helped a lot, though. The spicy crab spaghetti was a bit disappointing because the dish came with clumped pasta, not even separated completely. Then the crab meat flavor didn't really mesh with the pasta, so each ingredient had its own taste, and each ingredient was not seasoned enough, with the crab tasted like its original flavor, the pasta tasting salty but nothing else, and the veggies tasting like themselves without extra seasoning on them. I wonder if this dish would do better in general with tomato sauce. As mentioned above, our server was very attentive to us. We sat at a corner half round table, and our server checked in very often to ensure we had our orders in, and in general showed lots of care by approaching us at the right times. Overall I probably wouldn't prioritize this place as a food option in the Bloomington area, although I am sure there are highlights in the menu that I have not gotten to, so I am open to returning.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Excellent food, drinks, service. We had seafood pasta and chicken parmigiana and chocolate cake and a pumpkin cake for dessert. Everything was delicious. We are from California and can't wait to dine here again when we return to Minnesota next year!

Shamir W.

Yelp
Family had a stop over for a few hours in Minneapolis so decided to meet up. Picked them up at the airport and headed to Ciao Bella. It was busy but we were lucky to get a reservation at the last minute. This is a cute little restaurant in the Edina area. Right by southdale. Nice ambiance. A good mix or contemporary and old world. We were seated right away. Server came over and got us water and the menus. Started off with some cocktails and a glass of wine. We had a few cocktails and they were pretty good. She even got us a couple that were not in the menu. We ordered some appetizers. The Parmesan crusted shrimp, the lamb crostini, and the scallops. The scallops were very good. The shrimp were also good but could have been a little crispier. The lamb crostini has good flavor but the toasted bread was a little soggy. Not bad overall but would have loved the bread to be more crusty. For the entrees we ordered a kids chicken tenders. A kids buttered noodles and fruit. Ordered the pesto sea bass, the short ribs with mashed potatoes and the linguini di mare. Al the dishes were very good. The scallops and the sea bass were the standouts with a balanced flavor profile. The short rib was good but not stellar and a little dry in the middle. The linguine was cooked to perfect tenderness and had plenty of seafood. We asked it be made a little spice and they put in just the right amount of kick to it. This is a solid mid tier restaurant in an are that has no shortage of places to eat. The food was good. The service was excellent and if we are looking for a place for a nice sit down dinner, we would definitely be back. It has been around for years and you can see why.

Creig A.

Yelp
This is fine dining! We tried Caio Bella for a special occasion and it did not disappoint. Delicious house made pasta, and creative desserts (pictured). Our server was there when we needed her and otherwise unobtrusive. Ambiance was classy but not stuffy. A decent but not overwhelming wine list. I will be back - this is a new favorite place for a grand night out!

Kelsey K.

Yelp
Ohh my my why have I lived in Bloomington my whole life and never been here??! I've been missing out and you're missing out if you haven't tried it yet. We got in without reservations on a Friday night but it was around 8:30 at night, past the dinner rush. They have a gorgeous patio seated under full coverage vines. It was a little loud out there and a little cramped in there. The lighting fairly dark but hey, the foods amazing so nothing else matters too much! They have a pretty big variety on their menu! All locally sourced and freshly made. Love the fresh fish options as well. We indulged in the crab cakes, herb risotto and herb linguini with braised lamb. Then finished with the budino, a delicious molten chocolate cake. Our favorite was the linguini with the lamb! It was soooo good and the flavors and textures just right! The truffled aioli with the crab cakes was on point. I felt like every food item was high quality and much thought went into these dishes. We enjoyed our experience here and will come again!

Megan M.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this place for awhile and finally got some time to do so. Went with a friend on a Monday night, and this place was packed!! I was really glad we made reservations well in advance. We got seated in a booth (BIG bonus there) and immediately were given some water and delicious bread (homemade and warm, YUM). Our waiter was AWESOME! So friendly, funny, and attentive. I really enjoyed his attitude. He even complimented me on pronouncing some of the Italian dishes correctly, which really fueled my already terrible ego regarding Italian things (I am THAT study abroad girl and I know it ok), so I loved that. I got the tortiglioni rossa pasta after reading a million positive Yelp reviews on this dish. The reviewers were right, it was fantastic. I ate the entire dish, even though it was massive and I felt extremely bloated after (worth it). My friend got the alfredo, which she said was equally delicious. We also both ordered wine, and I never can really complain about wine. I wish I had saved some room for dessert (and money lol) but by the end of the meal both my friend and I were satisfied. But I bet their dessert is just as good as their main food. Another time...

Alexandra Y.

Yelp
So...I went back again for date night with a gift card we got for Christmas. We had reservations for 4:45. Perfect time to go on a Friday. Weather was nice and it was quiet. Within 30 minutes...BAM! Wall to wall people out of nowhere! Not kidding. But I think the food is so good, so I see why. I'm stuffed too. We sat in Diana's section and she was SOOO good. Super nice and on top of everything. She told us the specials and was very knowledgeable on whatever we asked about the menu. I gave her 2 suggestions and she suggested which one to try. I got it and it didn't disappoint. Hubby had 1 of the specials and he joined the clan plate club. We shared a dessert as well. So moist and yummy with layers of flavor. Caramel, pecans and a moist cake with ice cream on top. Can't beat the price $5 of a glass Moscato Risata D'Asti either! My fav. We'll be going back again!!!

Maria V.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner while I was in town . Staff friendly and welcoming - from host to my waitress Mikayla . They had great food and cocktail recommendations I tried the pineapple martini and the midnight expresss - both good but I liked the midnight express more Appetizer was the grilled beef tenderloin crostini - excellent . I love anything truffle and the truffle aioli was perfect on top. My entree was the Tortiglioni Rossa pasta dish - very good ! Plenty of parking

Jerry M.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Everything has great flavor and was cooked to perfection. Service was on point and the Strawberry Rhubarb dessert was one of the best ever. We will be back

Rochelle 'Shella' T.

Yelp
Great ambiance, food, and exceptional service. My husband insisted we try this place since he had a chance to try it the day before. We were a table of 7 people. When we called to reserve seats, were told that they couldn't accommodate until really late. But when we went to do walk-in, we're able to get a table by the bar. We were so happy! We were very impressed with the crab cakes. Instead of the usual shreds of crabs, it was chunks of crabs on it. Minimal extenders, like the breadcrumbs. The only dish we're weren't so impressed about was the Brussels sprouts. They were too sweet. Everything else felt and tasted perfect. The seasoning blended well with the dish and the side dishes complemented the whole experience.

Emilee J.

Yelp
heard through the grapevine that ciao bella was a 5-star spot and I just wish I would've made the trip sooner. oh. my. goodness. ciao bella has rightfully claimed a spot on my top 5 MN dining spots. it was INCREDIBLE. the red pepper linguini with scallops was DIVINE. coupled with goat cheese & pine nuts, this dish was cooked with the perfect balance of spice. I can definitely see myself coming back to simply order it again everything about this meal was perfect from start to finish, and if you haven't jumped on this bandwagon yet, I highly recommend doing so. ‍this splurge to top off the year was worth every cent.

Ann L.

Yelp
I had not been here in years, but so glad to pop in for lunch today. It is a beautiful space with big, comfy booths and a gorgeous courtyard patio. Diana took the best care of us and all of the staff saw to our every need. I had the tortiglioni rossa and my mom had the spaghetti. We shared the limonetta dessert. The tortiglioni is hands down one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had! My mom wished she had ordered it too after I shared a bite. The limonetta dessert was cool and light and not overly sweet. Just a perfect lunch. It might be ciao for now, but we'll be back!

Mike B.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for happy hour. The resturant is always busy with folks hanging out after work enjoying a couple of drinks and apps. I haven't been for dinner, but can't imagine it would be anything less than awesome! I highly recommend the tuna crisps and the tenderloin crostini. In addition I love their heirloom grain salad, the mushroom flatbread pizza with truffle oil, and any of the shrimp dishes. The staff is awesome and they really get to know you. If you're looking for a killer martini, Kelly makes the best! Also, check out the back bar in the warmer months. It's super chill and the open air environment is a nice change after being cooped up during the winter months!

Becky S.

Yelp
Great food and service! Also a fan of their wine list! Looking forward to returning to try more things!

S G.

Yelp
Ciao Bella was highly recommended and did not disappoint. We stopped by for lunch and tried the Caramelized Brussels Sprouts, Ahi Tuna, Ahi Tuna Spring Roll & Linguine di Mare. Everything was so delicious. Ambiance was very elegant while the service was outstanding.

Lexi S.

Yelp
Amazing food! This place is my go to for dinner dates. Every time I go, the service is great. Some of my recommendations/favorites are the Seared Ahi Tuna, Calamari, Fettuccine with Chicken, Tortiglioni Rossa, and the Budino. It's such a pretty restaurant, especially out in the patio. 10/10 would recommend.

Claire M.

Yelp
Ciao Bella offers a warm and classy fine dining experience with exquisite food. The quality of the food is well worth the price that you'll pay and the presentation is beautiful. We've been quite a few times and I've found the herb linguini w/ braised lamb is my favorite. I've been wanting to try the calamari but was not available our last visit so we went with the Parmesan crusted shrimp which turned out to be a hit!

J B.

Yelp
We got there early after work and they had a very decent crowd already. We were seated promptly and greeted by very friendly staff. Our orders came out quickly, and food was delicious. I recommend reservations if possible, and to come early if you want a more quiet experience as it gets quite busy around 5:30 with a lot of conversations going on. Overall, a great experience and would recommend if you are in the area.

Donna B.

Yelp
Service and food were good. Some of the dishes were pricey for what they were. Prices are better at lunch.

Charles H.

Yelp
Ciao Bella never disappoints, it's one of my wife and I's favorite twin cities spots for an elegant meal! This was our fourth time dining here in the past two years, the service is bar none...every time! You will always have what you need during your whole dining experience, the staff is very knowledgeable and they always have a great special for the night! Last week on Friday the special was the Lamb Shank which my wife had, she loved it. I had the New York Strip, was perfectly cooked and I paired it with an old fashioned. This place has the perfect vibe if you're looking for a place for a special occasion! Cheers! 10/10

Mikhala F.

Yelp
We had a lovely experience here celebrating a birthday! A quick breakdown: FAVORITES: - A stunning vine-trellised patio with plenty of seating (plus a bar inside that has has doors that open up to outside) - lots of seafood and pasta options (including a GF pasta!) I had the mojito which was refreshing and not too sweet, and chicken Alfredo with the gluten free noodles. We also enjoyed meatballs for the appetizer, which were huge! Tip: get the "entree" size if you're looking for a full meal. We all got that size and nobody went home with leftovers. It's a pretty nice portion on the pastas, but you'll be hard-pressed to find anything under $20 on the menu. I always have a bit of a hard time paying that much for noodles, but alas! Our birthday guy wanted a round of Bailey's on the rocks, and each was $11 which seemed a bit steep. Definitely a special occasion spot!

Steve C.

Yelp
The food & service are terrific but the noise level was hard to bear for my guests and me. Made conversation difficult.

Michele H.

Yelp
Awesome spot for Italian food in the Bloomington area. I usually favor Italian restaurants in St. Paul, but Ciao Bella really stands out. Food is fresh and really tasty and the service was outstanding. Yes, it's a more expensive option, but you get what you pay for here. Plus you don't have to deal with parking downtown for good Italian.

Emily A.

Yelp
Visited 6/5/23. Ciao Bella is located towards the Edina side of Bloomington. It has a large parking lot so parking is easy to come by. We made a reservation on this day a few days in advance and made it easily. Overall as far as Italian goes, it was fine. Service was solid, it had a nice patio, and I enjoyed the free bread. I didn't have any major complaints about the place itself, but for the prices that were charged I was expecting fresh pasta. I would likely hit up Italian eatery, Broders, or even Red Rabbit (better prices and deals) before picking here. The pasta was still good, but I would love a slightly bigger selection, especially of vegetarian dishes-my sister didn't have too many to pick from. Would be a great place for a patio happy hour, especially if you live in Edina though. And the spaghetti and meatballs did look to have homemade pasta so I would try that as well.

Rachel W.

Yelp
Very surprised! This place is tucked behind a huge office building by France and 494, and I had no idea what a diamond in the rough it was! It was pretty busy on a Saturday night in the dining room (no last minute reservations available), but the bar area had a few tables that were open for walk ins. We got a table in the corner so it was perfect, but otherwise might have been a little loud. The food was relatively simple but oh my goodness - so flavorful and delicious!! We got the roasted cauliflower (with chilis and lemon), the tortiglioni rossa, and the herb linguini with braised lamb - highly recommend all! I was really hoping for a few more pasta options (maybe some gnocchi?), but the ones they do offer are very well done! Can't wait to go back and try something else!

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday night around 7 pm. We had a reservation but arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation. They were not overly busy, and we were seated immediately. Everything was excellent about our dining experience. The food, ambiance, and service were all outstanding. We didn't find it loud, sitting in a middle area both, as some reviews mentioned. But that may have been because it was not super busy when we got there. Our server, Dane, was awesome. I asked him about a few dishes, like the fish specials and spicy crab spaghetti. After he described the dishes, I decided against the spicy crab spaghetti since the sauce was an oil lemon based sauce. When I ordered the linguine de mare, Dane suggested adding fesno chili to kick up the spiciness, based on my questions i had on the spicy crab dish. GREAT CALL DANE. I LOVED THIS DISH. It was probably one of the best seafood pasta dishes I have had in the past few years. The heat, spiciness, was prefect. It was cooked to prefection. The scallops, shrimp, and fish were abundant in this large sized dish. The dish arrived at the table smoking hot, and the seafood was not overcooked. The pasta was a perfect aldentee. The classic lasagna dish was also great. Flavors were spot on, and it arrived at the table smoking hot. The price was / could be on the high side, but I'm fine with that for great food, wonderful ambiance, and excellent service. Last note on the price, they don't hide extra service fees like so many other Minneapolis area restaurants are doing. So, with that in mind, my comment on the price being on the high side may not be fair since they served us high quality dishes, cooked to perfection and didn't add hidden or surprise fees. I appreciate their approach. The price is the piece with no extra fees. This was our first visit and will not be is last.

Yelp
Had a work meeting here and once again, it did not disappoint. I went light and just got a small Basic Blue salad off the lunch menu. It was very good. All fresh ingredients. Their bread is fantastic and always served warm. I like that they put olive oil on the table for dipping. Service is always top notch. It eventually got so busy it was a little hard to hear around the table.

Yelp
This place is huge, loud. Not a good place if you want to have a conversation. Its like Carrabas on steroids, only Carrabas food is better. Decent wine list although it took ten minutes to get my wine. Apps were decent, got both Ahi apps. Entrees came way to fast, haven't even had a half glass of wine and app still half ate. Veal meatball, Spaghetti was dry and ok. Linguini and clams ok. Seafood pasta dish was ok. Desserts were ok. If you have ever been to Italy this place is average food at best.

Yelp
This was my first trip and I chose ciao bella over other Italian restaurants in Minneapolis as they had the highest overall rating - I can confirm that they thoroughly earned it! When I entered the restaurant, the host team made me feel welcome and warm and this was one of the best host greeting I have received in a while. Food was spectacular and this was hands down one of the best Italian/pasta meals I have had in a long time. Their bread was so soft and was not surprised when my server told me that they make their bread, pasta and pizza in house. They know how to make calamari appetizer! The breading was delicate and thin, which is how it should always be. Plus I could tell the squid they used was pretty darn fresh as it was quite soft when I chewed them. I had their tortiglioni pasta and that was off the hook delish. Pasta was excellent and their homemade molinari sausage was to die for. For dessert, I had their limonetta bella: lemon curd with lemon cream cheese filling and graham pecan crust on bottom. Perfect way to finish my meal. Great service and a memorable dining experience. I strongly recommend Ciao Bella to anyone looking for a great Italian restaurant.
