"If a cinnamon roll emoji existed, it might look like the one from Ciao Gloria in Prospect Heights. The dough is fluffy and bready, the cinnamon filling tastes like it was plucked right from the cinnamon tree (those are a real thing), and the thick splooge of cream cheese icing on top would also perform well on a carrot cake." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim, will hartman
"If you’re looking for a breakfast sandwich good enough to inspire a new poetry section in your diary, head to Ciao Gloria in Prospect Heights. Their PEC (prosciutto, egg, and cheese) comes on a brioche bun with pesto and arugula, and it’s one of the reasons we get out of bed on Saturday mornings. They also have toast options with things like ricotta and avocado on top, plus a large selection of baked goods. You can order at the counter to-go, but you might as well sit on their new curbside patio and stare curiously at sweaty people walking down Vanderbilt Avenue." - nikko duren
"Ciao, Gloria in Prospect Heights has pumpkin, apple cranberry, and milk chocolate pecan pie available for preorder (until 11/24) through their website. You can also secure some harvest cookies and panettone while you're at it." - hannah albertine, carina finn koeppicus, molly fitzpatrick
"“I watch Zodiac a lot, but that doesn’t mean I’m creepy. In fact, the lurid parts of this movie (about the hunt for a serial killer in the ’60s and ’70s) are my least favorite. Mostly, I like the scope of the film (it’s 157 minutes long), and, much like Jake Gylenhaal’s inquisitive lead, I appreciate a good puzzle. I also like the fact that David Fincher added a bunch of comedic touches that could have been lifted straight from a romcom. Gylenhaal’s son swallows toothpaste, for example, and Mark Ruffalo’s detective often eats animal crackers. These scenes are only sort of funny, which somehow makes them funnier in the context of a very heavy film. Now, I don’t know where you can order animal crackers at present, but I do know where to get some cookies, blondies, and oatmeal cream pies. It’s a place called Ciao, Gloria in Prospect Heights, and they have a few breakfast sandwiches as well.” - BK" - hannah albertine, nikko duren, bryan kim, hillary reinsberg, arden shore
"Unlike most Brooklyn coffee shops, this one in Prospect Heights has all of the food motivation you need to get you out of bed. From the prosciutto, egg, and cheese to muffins that taste better than whatever the “Muffin Man” is whipping up right now, the menu at Ciao Gloria is full of stuff you’ll actually want to order." - nikko duren
