18 Best Restaurants in Greensboro, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Named for owner and chef Sean Reaves’ grandparents Lucille and Roscoe, ‘Cille & ‘Scoe made its mark on the city’s dining scene within just a few months into operating. That’s not surprising considering that Reaves made his bones in some of the area’s most well-known restaurants, including Southern Roots, 1618 Midtown, and Green Valley Grill. Dubbed a “Southern eatery,” the restaurant reaches beyond the norm with plates like a Swedish meatball with homemade pasta, popcorn cauliflower with roasted garlic oil and anchovy cream, and an Outer Banks ahi tuna with white beans, bacon, and tomato tarragon pan sauce." - Eric Ginsburg

I enjoyed it all! The food was delicious! The service was great! We had a large party and the server was amazing! The food presentation was great! Tara responded to my email and got us reserved! I have no complaints! Shawn and Tara made it happen! The pancakes had a nice crisp and the shrimp and grits cakes was different and very well seasoned! The atmosphere is relaxing and I love the decor! Thank you so much for getting us in! The chef was awesome! I highly recommend and I will be back!

I visited this spot for the 1st time with a ladies group from church. With the crowd that was forming before they opened, I knew it had to be good. Our server was super nice and attentive. The food was delicious. I ordered an omelet, biscuit a side of grits which was HUGE! I love getting my money's worth! The complimentary strawberry muffins were good too! The ambiance was open and modern with a personal touch. It was great to know the food was from local farms. Definitely will visit again!

First time visiting, such a fantastic story that this restaurant was built upon. We started with East vs West appetizer. Would definitely order again. Great flavor combination. Comes with mop sauce and peach bbq sauce, delicious. I had the Crab off the cob dish- 2 nicely sized crab cakes that reminded me of the amazing seafood places in New England I’ve been to, a light creamed corn with a delectable array of sauces artfully decorating the dish. My husband had SS Major, although the steak was the star, the dish had a puréed radish that he is still talking about. Any chef that can make radish taste that good, should have 3 Michelin stars! We were very impressed, high quality ingredients, great food, great service, highly recommend.

Crave-able gem! I don’t give 5s lightly, however, from the moment we walked in, the experience was nothing short of lovely and delicious. The staff was welcoming, professional and offered great recommendations. Everything we had was absolutely wonderful (including head nods and groans of pleasure to the Chef Jake) and we’ve already planned our return for brunch.

We stumbled upon this place last night and it did not disappoint! I don’t normally give reviews but this place gave us the best meal I have ever had outside of my lady’s kitchen. We were able to sit and watch the chefs prepare every plate and piece of art in front of us. We had the Brussel sprouts, Beth to Cesar, Tunami, This Pasta and Strawberrry Lemon Pound Cake for dessert. Every dish was delicious and made with the upmost care. You can definitely tell they are doing what they love. Thank you chef Jake and James! We will return and very often from now on!

Cille and Scoe is that restaurant, y’all! Whew! From the moment I walked in, I knew it was about to be a whole experience. The vibe? Immaculate. The food? Let’s just say my taste buds are STILL doing a praise dance! I had the kind of meal that makes you wanna call your mama and tell her about it. The atmosphere is giving grown, soulful, and stylish — like Sunday brunch meets Friday night out. The staff was so warm and welcoming, I felt like a regular even though it was my first time. You can tell everything was made with love — from the flavors to the decor. Perfect spot for date night, girls’ night, or honestly just treating yourself because you deserve! If you’re in Greensboro and haven’t been to Cille and Scoe yet… go ahead and add it to your must-try list. You’ll thank me later! 💕

*Positive experience but skip to bottom to see why I won’t return* — I arrived at noon on a Saturday for brunch as my date chose here. I had been here before for a Yelp Event. I was excited to see what brunch would be like. Once inside, we were promptly seated. Service: 5/5 -At 12:02, Sarah came over to start us off & brought us waters. She said that our waiter was doing something & would be with us. She planned to take our drink orders but we weren’t ready. -Our waiter, Johlaun, came at 12:09. He gave a spill about the restaurant $ how things are cooked & prepared, noting everything is made fresh, which may result in delayed timing for food. -We ordered mimosa flight at 12:11 with orange juice, pineapple, blood orange, & cranberry. It came at 12:17 -At 12:27, waiter brought over complimentary muffins -We ordered entrees when mimosas arrived. I got the hen & bread w/ a side of hashbrowns. My date got the chicken biscuit w/ a side of grits. The entrees came at 12:52; on 35 minutes after ordering. -After we paid & got containers, I wanted a to go cup. I didn’t see our waiter so I stopped Sarah who cheerfully got me one. I must note that Sarah was SO FRIENDLY & welcoming. Her attitude, helpfulness, and vibes were so amazing! Food Quality/Taste: 4/5 -Muffins: They were tasty & had a small crunch to them, which wasn’t bad, even though I was initially expecting it to be soft. -Mimosas: They were tasty with a good balance of juice & champagne -Hen + Bread: I was hesitant about this since the chicken is marinated in Texas Pete & I’m not a hot sauce guy. While the chicken wasn’t spicy, I could taste the Texas Pete. It wasn’t overwhelming but noticeable. The honey glaze on top was nice & helped to offset the Texas Pete. I wished the chicken was a crisper than what it was. No complaints with the waffle. -Biscuit & Grits: My date enjoyed their food w/ no complaints. They said it was “great”. -Hashbrowns: They were delicious, both dipped in ketchup & without. Presentation: 4/5 -Mimosa flight: They came on a nice board with labels; Most places don’t do this, so it was great. -Muffins: Small, crisp top, with powdered sugar; After we both ate one, we noticed a piece of hair on the plate. I looked back at the picture I took & noticed it was there BEFORE we grabbed one. I opted not to bring to attention of waiter since it was complimentary as wasn’t directly touching the muffins. Regardless, it was not a pleasant sight. -Hashbrowns: Presented as breakfast potatoes, but it was fine. It was a generous portion. -Entrees: Plated averagely Ambiance & Cleanliness: 5/5 -It was an inviting atmosphere; well-decorated and clean -The chairs are different & w/ some not comfy. My original chair was very uncomfortable & I asked to switch it. My request was granted. -The music selection was great. It could’ve been turned up a couple notches though. -Restrooms are for anyone; The door can lock for privacy. The restrooms were clean & smelled nice. Value for Money: 4/5 -The mimosa flight was $16. That was expensive for the small amount of mimosa we got, in my opinion -The size of the biscuit ($17) & grits ($7) was HUGE! However, it was a $3 up-charge to simply add cheese to the grits… -I saw a waitress take a pancake to another take it was also HUGE. -I think a side should be included with the entrees, even if that means *slightly* increasing the price of entree -Overall, we actually didn’t finish because we got full. Overall Experience: 4/5 -Pretty good experience. The cocktails are little pricey & the hair on the plate was not good. The staff were friendly w/ good food. I would’ve liked to return but will not be (see below) =26/30 — *I was disappointed to see the owner, Tara, responding to customers reviews defensively & unprofessionally. As a Yelp Elite & Google Reviewer, I support local businesses, but I cant support one that handles feedback this way. These were missed opportunities to make things right. If I saw the responses earlier, I wouldve told my date to pick elsewhere. Tara, please work on your responses*

Yelp
Fantastic experience at Cille & Scoe! The dishes, made with locally sourced ingredients, are delicious and creatively prepared. The welcoming vibe and excellent service make this place a must-visit in Greensboro.

Yelp
Had an amazing meal at Cille and Scone! Despite the rainy weather, the vibe inside was cozy and welcoming. The Shrimp de Blanco was delicious! The staff were attentive and friendly, making the rainy day feel much brighter. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We tried Cille and Scoe the very first day they opened and it's been such a treat to see how far they have come since then! We've heard people raving about their brunch so we had to check it out! I am so so so glad we chose this place for brunch. The biscuit board and breakfast pizza are two items I'll think about until I get it again, SO GOOD! I also love that they bring the little complimentary muffins to the table. The mimosa flight had great, unique flavors and cheerwine old fashioned, are you kidding me? Phenomenal! Our waitress was so great checking on us often and making sure we had everything we needed. Great service is half the battle and these guys have a wonderful staff. The only qualm I had is the price point of each item, but I also understand that this is a farm to table restaurant buying their products from local farmers/merchants. But it does make it pretty rare that we get to dine here. Definitely a special occasion spot for us but they've got something very special going on here nonetheless!

Yelp
Cute little place downtown. I met friends here to start out a day of food!! Loved the Mocktail selection and prices. The food was absolutely yummy. Service was great. They were really busy!! We sat at the high tables. But they also have outdoor seating.

Yelp
Dear yelpers, I came out of semi retirement in order to review this place but stick with me it gets better at the end. Let's begin: Seating: so they have mismatched seating and majority of the tables are high tops. There are a one or two more comfortable high seat options for the thicker ladies reading this, but if not, you can wait for one of three booth tables. Drinks: We ordered flights of mimosas and each got different flavors but I have to admit that the only flavor worth it would be the lychee mimosa. Tip: the flights are basically an ounce or two each but for the price it was good. Service: She started off good but we made sure to inform our waitress of our food allergies of strawberries and bananas and they tried to be nice but failed and brought out little corn muffins made with strawberries and lemon. Cons: The biggest downfall was they "ran out" of silverware and gave us plastic utensils. I don't understand how a restaurant runs out of silverware and while a new group came in at least 1 hour after us and all received silverware at their table. When I inquired about it. Instead of taking the time to go get silverware she said they ran out and there was nothing she could do about it. Not sure how that makes sense. Sighs Now... aside from that fiasco... Food: is absolutely every form of excellence you can imagine. The morning burger was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fries were crispy and nicely seasoned. And for someone who doesn't eat bread, the biscuit and butter was phenomenal. The star of the show is 100 percent the French toast. If there's anything to travel to Greensboro, NC it's for this French toast! The food was everything a brunch should be and eventually someone came over with real silverware and apologized so it turned out ok. I would say... 9 out of 10 recommend.

Yelp
A nice quaint brunch spot in downtown Greensboro. We've been here a couple of times and have received great service - the staff is always so kind and genuine. The food is good, not great. I've had their corned beef hash during one visit and that was actually d! But most recently ordered their Hen + Bread (chicken and waffles) and it was just ok - the waffle was fine, nothing crazy special. And the chicken was a little bit bland.

Yelp
Ehhh, I'll get straight to the point- hour wait for food, overpriced entrees with sides sold separately, and sewage smell throughout visit. It is frustrating when you have high hopes for trying a new local spot because it can be a hit or miss. The food was good, I will say that. Worth the wait time? No. Our waitress did inform us it takes a while. That was my mistake for taking that as an exaggeration. For what we had ordered, it should not have taken the time it did to be prepared: - Chicken & waffles ($18) - Chicken biscuit ($16 ..... and that's no side included) The ambience of the restaurant is beautiful, but that was also a take away when the smell reeked of sewage towards the back of the establishment where we were sat. Staff is friendly including the hostesses. Our waiter, Jordan, was very sweet! She gave us a backstory on the restaurant itself and I loved it. I would not return but many enjoy this style of dining. Food: 4| Service: 5| Atmosphere: 3

Yelp
Went to cille and scoe for brunch today for a friends birthday. The food was absolutely delicious and I really loved my Mocktail. we got the biscuit board to start along with the sweet treat of the day which was a maple blueberry and bacon cinnamon roll. Appetizers took a bit to come out and overall we were there for quite a while. For brunch, I got the black chicken Caesar salad and it was really good and unique. The plates themselves, including the appetizers are fairly expensive. The food is great, but just know you're going to spend a lot of time and money.

Yelp
I have been dying to make a reservation and get to this restaurant. The interior was Lovely.. I do not recommend the hightop tables and the uncomfortable chairs. The food was great! We had the slow and steady, and the shrimp and grit Cakes! The service was slow, and even though we had a reservation, our table was given away. Other than that I would love to try this restaurant again.

Yelp
If you have been sleeping on Cille and Scoe, here is your reminder to GO! One of my favorite spots to eat when I'm in Greensboro. It's lively but cozy and has a great bar too. Last night I got to attend their Chopped Event which was a dinner that recreated Chef Sean's dishes from the Mouth of the South episode on the Food Network show Chopped. Sean was invited to be a chef to compete against three other chefs from "down south" in a recent episode. It was a great event, the food was amazing and there is talk about making some of the dishes permanent additions to their menu. We'll just have to wait and see! In the meantime, get over there and check them out.... Southern cooking is the focus of their menu but it is elevated, fresh and creative. Famous for their slow and low, buttery and fluffy biscuits and using seasonal and local produce and meats (they have a family farm nearby), you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Was here recently for brunch and the food did not disappoint. It's alway high quality. I would love to give this place a 5 star and it is one of our favorites around but the prices have gone a bit out of control - I know everything has gone up the last few years but this time it was a real sticker shock. I do appreciate the local sourced ingredients and quality. For example we got the homemade biscuit board for sharing and was almost $30! Someone got an omelet for around $20 and there was no side or toast or anything included - it was literally just the omelet.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing! The staff is super knowledgeable and love sharing their own preferences and stories about the food. This was hands down one of the best culinary experiences I've had in greensboro. They are so proud of their food. Everything is fresh and seasonal. The recipes and drinks are 100% unique. The chef here was featured on the food network, and I and my friends could clearly see why! The restaurant itself is bright and lovely, but a word of warning about eating outside. It has nothing to do with the restaurant, but rather some of the downtown hustle and bustle can be distracting and, on occasion, uncomfortable.

Yelp
I went here for brunch with my girls on St. Patrick's Day and it wasn't everything I hoped it would be. For starters, we had a reservation at 10 and arrived at 9:55. When telling the hostess this, she responded with "It's not 10." pretty rudely and made us wait outside. By the time our reservation was ready, we were seated indoors when we specifically requested outdoors. The food was pretty good except for the biscuit I ordered; the sausage tasted like it had absolutely no flavor and was pretty much inedible. There were several flies buzzing around our table which was pretty gross. I liked hearing about the story of the restaurant and how everything was made from scratch; however, I most likely won't be returning here. Not a bad place but you can find better breakfast spots in Greensboro.

Yelp
I've been three times. I really enjoyed the brunch burger with egg and the deviled eggs. I didn't enjoy my last meal as much, I believe it was risotto. (Forgetting is not a great sign.)

Loveeeee this place, the food has so much flavor, the drinks are strong, the ambience is always beautiful and the service is great. I enjoy going here

Yelp
Been wanting to give this place a shot after hearing varying reviews from friends. I've been told that the service was not good and it took a long time for the food to arrive, but that wasn't the case for us. The food came in a timely manner and the server we had was sweet. My thoughts are, the food was OK, nothing to rave about, the presentation of the food was nice, but overall it tasted average (especially for the price). I didn't like how they served their water in Sycamore bar glasses, it took away from the "farm to table" vibe and energy of the restaurant. I suggest getting just regular clear glasses because it didn't match the restaurant at all. The cocktails were pretty good, but also overly expensive. I think overall the atmosphere is nice, it's good to have more options to eat in Greensboro. I probably would not come back for dinner, but I've heard the brunch is better so I may come back to give that a shot!

Yelp
Brunch Seasonal Cocktail: Mimosa Flight (Pick 4) Blood Orange, Blueberry, Watermelon, Cranberry Meal: Peaches & Cream Staff: 4/5 I was able to call and let the staff know I would be 10 minutes late to my reservation. They were kind enough to make e a note for me so I could still keep it on Saturday morning. I had to send one of my mimosa back for a new one as there was a lip print on it when I received it. The staff kindly brought me a new glass and drink. The staff was also friendly and able to provide recommendations. Drinks and Food: 3/5 As I mentioned earlier, one of my mimosa flight cups had a lip mark on it. I'm understanding that lipsticks and glosses are difficult to be washed; however, that is something that shouldn't make it's way for the customer to see at the table. It should've been caught in the back and rewashed. The mimosas weren't memorable for me as far as flavor. It did not leave me with a taste I'd rave about or would want again. I ordered thee Peaches & Cream as my mean and I wouldn't recommend it as a dish to try. I know past reviews and the staff mentioned this was good which it may be to others. Personally, the taste of what I received reminded me of the French toast sticks schools or child center programs would provide when I was a kid, which aren't what I consider to be an appetizing flavor then nor now. I wish I tried with my second choice which was The Coastal, a crab cake on a house-made biscuit with avocado and hollandaise. If I go back, it'll be to try this as a brunch option. The mini blueberry muffins that came out to the table were good enough that I'd order a larger version of it along with something else paired with it. Overall: 3.5/5 I'm willing to come here again for brunch to try The Coastal or coming for dinner to try that menu to see if it'll change my feelings towards the restaurants menu. The decor looked nice and the bathroom was clean.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal! Be prepared for a wait. I was there during graduation so the wait was expected.

Yelp
The service was great. We had a 1:30 reservation and was sat as soon as we walked in at a table with menus waiting for us. I was surprised they did 1:30 reservations especially since they close at 2. We didn't feel rush and had great service even with us being there well after 2. We ordered mimosa flights. Several great options the blood orange was my favorite. Other tables had flights that came in small carafes so my guess is the flights may come in different size pours. The biscuit looked big and dense but it was very airy and fluffy and so delicious. My friend loved her French toast. It's a large portion but I see why people at other tables added protein on the side. My friend had half of her French toast to take home. I got the steak omelette with no mushrooms. It was decent but very oily. The plate had a growing oil puddle when it arrived. I'm not sure if it was the steak or cheese that made it oily but I ended up just eating half the egg and the steak and peppers. While it was good I'm not sure I would get it again. The ambiance is casual and fun. The restaurant is bright and pretty quiet but definitely a great spot to meet up with friends and even bring the kids.

Yelp
I am truly blown away with Cille & Scoe! It's rare that you have a restaurant that checks every single box with an enthusiastic "well done!" but they did just that. For those who don't know, Cille and Scoe is relatively new farm to table eatery on the restaurant scene in Downtown Greensboro. The restaurant is named for the grandparents of the owner. These meals are rooted in classic southern cuisine and incorporate tons of local North Carolina products (at least 90% of their ingredients!) into unique and elevated dishes. It's abundantly clear they use high quality ingredients, top tier meats, house-made pastas, and the freshest produce, using only what's in season on their rotating menu. Cille and Scoe has a great ambiance, keeping with the theme of elevated southern cuisine. They also have a nice outdoor seating area outside on Elm Street. Their staff certainly adopts that southern hospitality! Our server, Caprina, was above and beyond. She was attentive, personable, and just so kind! She was very professional while letting her fun personality shine through. Absolutely no complaints. They have a great cocktail menu, but I ended up ordering off the mocktail menu - I love that they offer a fun non-alcoholic menu as well! I got a lavender lemonade and it was excellent! Super fresh and the presentation was lovely (a theme here at Cille & Scoe is beautiful presentation.) We started off with the wings which my friend recommended. They were kind of small, but the portion was plentiful. They had a nice crisp and the house sauce was AMAZING! Loved the fresh dill ranch. For another appetizer I wanted to try the char tare. Another great presentation and the outside of the beef that was charred was such a lovely flavor. Hand cut beef, made to order with crispy crostinis, Dijon and balsamic sauces, radishes, micro greens and edible flowers for the aesthetic. Divine! I ordered one of the house-made pastas and I was blown away. The pasta I ordered was the "Show Me Your Noods" and it was a basil infused pasta that was thick and perfectly cooked and flavorful. Nestled in a garlic carrot broth with vegetables and I added chicken to mine. It was heavenly. Such incredible flavors, the pasta was to die for and the chicken was juicy and flavorful, adding heartiness, without distracting from the flavors of the broth and linguine. My friend ordered "That Pasta" with filet mignon and truffle. That steak was cooked to absolute perfection and you could cut it with a fork. This one checked all the boxes. Incredible flavor, great presentation. While these are pricier, gourmet dishes, the portions are hearty enough to justify it. For dessert, we ordered the seasonal lemon pound cake with strawberries and this was a standout! Nice sugary crispy edge on the pound cake, just enough lemon, and the strawberries were so fresh and delicious. Presentation was especially noteworthy on this. Cille & Score's owner/chef recently competed on Chopped, and we are still awaiting the results! In the meantime, you guys need to go check out an incredible meal here! Reservations accepted! Easy parking in the McGee street lot by Little Brother Brewing.

Yelp
Let me begin this review by saying that the food was outstanding. I LOVE a good charcuterie board (paired with a good glass of wine, it's my favorite way to eat, actually), and this one ranks as THE BEST. We also ordered the collards because my husband and I have a rule that if you're going to call yourself a Southern eatery, you best make some epic collards. Cille & Scoe passed the test--the collards were amazing. For the main course, I ordered the "Ode to the Castle" Burger and my husband ordered one of the specials, which was a beef and beet dish with housemade pasta...and then we chose to play halfsies and split the dishes between us. Both were absolutely delicious. We were skeptical of the Boar & Castle addition to the burger, but it worked well--reallllllly well. And the fries were perfection. I was also wary of the pasta dish--and I LOVE beets--but there was nothing to be worried about. The flavors were out of this world, the beef perfectly cooked...just so yummy. But the service. It just was not good. Our server brought our drinks relatively quickly (still was a delayed beginning), but it then took over 30 minutes for our appetizer to come out. We had finished our first glass of wine and were sitting there for a bit before someone else finally brought out the charcuterie board. We had to ask her for another round of drinks, and she also filled our water. But our server didn't show up until about five minutes after that. Then our main course arrived--our server brought it--and we had to help her in figuring out how to clear the table to make space for our plates. Then we didn't see her again until we were done with the meal. Now, I don't like someone constantly coming over to the table, but being completely absent is certainly not the answer. I liked the decor and feel of the space. I've heard complaints that the music didn't quite match the restaurant, and I'd have to say that it wasn't quite right my opinion either, but I don't know if it was the music choice or the high volume level or what. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I think it's just a loud space, though, so I'm not sure how they'd fix that without doing some sound-dampening panels or something. Overall, the experience was really good. I'll be back for the food. I just hope the servers get a little more instruction.

Yelp
Where's the bread? Where is the side dish? Where is the diet Coke refill? How do I pronounce the name of this restaurant? Those were just a few of my questions when I tried 'Cille and 'Scoe for the first time last night. I had heard about this place through Yelp and being a supporter of downtown and Yelp, I thought it was worth checking out. I still don't know how to pronounce the place, but that's something I could easily fix on my own. The other stuff they need to easily fix on their own. I absolutely loved the concept of farm food being brought fresh to our table, supporting the North Carolina growers and the lovely explanation of the concept by our waitress. She was a little over suggestive for my taste as far as appetizers and drinks and desserts but better that than a non-interested waitress. I was going to try one of those non-alcoholic drinks but I just could not bring myself to pay those prices so I ordered my diet Coke. The place was pretty full for a Thursday night which says a lot about the popularity of the restaurant. It's conveniently located on South Elm Street and quite lovely inside, although a bit brightly lit for me. I felt like I was in a department store with fluorescent lighting, even though that was not the case. The menu was a mixed bag for me. Every dish sounded so unique and tantalizing and appealing, but my eye kept darting to the price which took my breath away. I thought Ron and I were just going to grab a bite for eat. I had no idea how high-end this menu was. It looked like a menu and restaurant I would visit for a special occasion, but as they say, "When in Rome do as the Romans do" and so I jumped off the cliff and ordered a $36 piece of ahi tuna Because the meal is made fresh, the wait is a little longer but absolutely expected and warranted and appreciated. In the meantime, as much as I enjoyed the conversation with Ron, I kept wanting a piece of bread or something on the table while I waited for my entree, but it seemed clear early on unless I wanted to spend even more money for an appetizer, the table was going to remain bare. The ahi tuna was beautiful, both in preparation and size and presentation. It was absolutely delicious. Ron got a pasta dish and I took a swirl of that pasta and it was out of this world. We shared a lemon strawberry cake dessert that was also quite unique and plentiful and delish. And then the bill came and I clutched my pearls. A dinner for $50 plus is a bit much for me especially when you cannot get a scrap of bread and there is not even one side dish unless you want to pay even more. I went home and had a dinner roll and some asparagus to round out the meal. I shouldn't have had to! So here's my take. The concept is magnificent. The food is divine. The presentation and portions were quite good. Turn down the lights a little bit, put a few local rolls or bread with some local butter or oil on the table. Give me a $36 piece of ahi tuna with a local vegetable and a local carb. Achieve that, and I think you have a winner on your hands. Then I'll be back for a special occasion. But from the look of the big crowd that night, they all seemed very happy to slap down their charge card for a $75 dinner. I just might be in the minority. So, if these prices don't scare you, 'Cille and 'Scoe is a wonderful place to enjoy a unique and scrumptious dinner before a show or to spend a wonderful evening downtown!

Yelp
My niece and I ate at Cille and Scoe today. The food was wonderful as usual. We both got a Warm Vanilla Latte, which was delicious. My neice got the Peaches and Cream and absolutely loved it!! Our waitress Caprina was the best waitress I've had anywhere in a very long time!! She was attentive and was on top of her game!! We loved her!!

Yelp
Upscale soul food at its best. Cillie and Scoe has Great food, music ambience. This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. They know what they're doing and what they're talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is pretty good, some classic soulful dishes and some twists, and for their prices it's 100% worth it. Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely place.

Yelp
I passed this restaurant before when walking downtown. It didn't seem very interesting for my tastes. I was so glad the bride-to-be had her shower here!! It was absolutely delicious!!! Upon entering, there's a huge wall mural. I heard more about the story of the mural and the farm-to-table restaurant from our lovely waitress Kabreia. She explained the history of the restaurant and the two people in the mural and their relation to the head chef. She was very thorough and knew the menu very well. She was able to answer all of our questions; and was very attentive and always available. First out were mimosa flights and mini pumpkin muffins ahead of our meals. I do NOT eat anything pumpkin......well except these muffins! They are tiny bites of deliciousness!! Not long after that, our entrees started arriving. The time between every course was perfect. The crispy potatoes and onions were exactly the taste I wanted! It was enough to share! My chicken and waffle was great too!!! The waffle wasn't as crisp as I like them, but the flavor was great! The chicken breast had a drizzle of honey & it was still crispy. I can't wait to return to try some other items! We had a great time celebrating the bride-to-be!

Yelp
To start, we ordered deviled eggs (they were delicious) and some kind of "seasonal" eggroll - it was decent but unremarkable. For dinner I had the pumpkioli and hubby had wings and salad. Our toddler had a burger and fries. We arrived before 6pm without reservations and were told they were booked for the night but we could sit at the bar. Perfect, we thought - they even accommodated us having a small child by bringing a highchair to the bar. Service was very friendly but slow and lacking attentiveness. Our food was brought to us cold. The wings were taken away and replaced. I mentioned to a lady my food was also cold - I even said it twice, because she asked me to repeat myself... just to have my remark entirely ignored. I ate my cold pumpkioli - because I was starving after having waited an exorbitant amount of time, (and it was still good) but it would have been much better warm! I had an espresso martini for "dessert" - which was so good! We would have ordered real dessert but our toddler was getting antsy and we felt we had sat there long enough. Of note, there were several empty tables both while we were there (for almost two hours) and as we were leaving. Perhaps they don't have the capacity to seat each table, but we felt slighted as we left. Overall an unimpressive but - with patience - tolerable experience. Food was good but not extraordinary.

Yelp
Excellent food and phenomenal service! A must try if you're in downtown Greensboro! I live in the Raleigh area, but I was in Greensboro for a concert on a Friday night in February. My 2 friends and I took off work to go down early to grab lunch and settle in to our AirBnB. We first went to another place, but weren't loving the vibe so we decided to search for something else for a late lunch and I'm glad we decided to try this out. This restaurant is located in downtown Greensboro. There's street parking and lots all around so parking is close. When we arrived we were greeted and sat quickly. The restaurant was pretty empty because it was around 1-2 in the afternoon. There's a bar in the front and seating around. We were sat towards the back. The restaurant is cute and quaint with a great vibe. We were greeted quickly and started with drink orders. Our server was great with recommendations, which I always appreciate. We each ordered a different drink and they were all soooooo good. We had the Cheerwine Old Fashioned, Snow on tha Bluff, and Blood Orange Fizz. Delicious and just strong enough. I love a good strong drink that doesn't taste just like alcohol. Next, the food. I ordered the Turkey Bialy with fries and my friends ordered the LTOP and Flatbread. Everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were great and worked so well together. I was able to try what my friends ordered as well so I can vouch for the goodness of it all! Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Yelp
'cille and 'scoe is located downtown in the space right next to the Jerusalem Market on Elm Street formerly occupied by 1618 Downtown. And what a beautiful space it is: bright, airy, and decorated with lovely artwork. It definitely gives off "upscale vibes" to go along with the menu prices. If you are looking for a place to take clients or a date, you won't be disappointed by the atmosphere. This visit was for lunch on a Thursday, and it was just the two of us and another table near the front. Despite having what looked to be two front-of-house employees working, it took 20 minutes for them to take our order. Luckily, we weren't in a hurry, so it wasn't a big deal to take a full hour to have lunch. Unfortunately, both of our simple orders didn't make it to the kitchen and then to the plate correctly. My companion almost got the entirely wrong dish, and mine had the wrong dressing on it. His problem was soon sorted, and we were able to finally eat after 40 minutes. (I didn't mention the dressing issue since we really needed to get back to work.) Issues like that do happen at restaurants, and this mixup was handled professionally and quickly. The reason for the low score is I'm confused by my dish, which was a $17 quinoa vegetable bowl. It wasn't something I'd serve at home, let alone to a guest. I'm not vegan, but one of the things I look for in a farm-to-table restaurant is how they handle vegetables. The Brussel sprouts and sweet potato were simply cut and cooked on low heat with no seasoning at all. No Maillard reaction, no spices of any kind other than some light white dressing that wasn't the "Russian dressing" that I ordered. The quinoa underneath was likewise completely plain. I've had more interesting bowl dishes from a Blue Apron meal kit. This was more on par with what I'd expect from a school cafeteria. The third vegetable, red cabbage, was OK. It's great that the vegetables came from local farms, but for my personal taste palate, these particular vegetables are bland and don't stand on their own. Unfortunately, there was nothing else on the lunch menu that looked appetizing. I might have ordered the charcuterie board, but $29 is a bit much for lunch, and there's no cooking involved, so it wouldn't have been a good first choice. The lunch pumpkin ravioli ($19) looked good, but they were out.

Yelp
I took my foodies group there for Sunday brunch. We had a party of 9. We were seated by the kitchen. Sadly, a sour smell of sewage constantly billowed out of the kitchen area. The staff were friendly. We should have known we were in trouble when the food server said that the food was worth the wait! Anyways, we waited almost 30 minutes for them to bring out the food. It all came at different times, so we couldn't eat together as a group. The food was excellent. Would I recommend this restaurant to a friend...I would not because of the smell and slow service.

Yelp
Excellent food and great service. We started with the mimosa flight and a cinnamon roll OMG delish!! Then moved into the shrimp and grit appetizer and it was super fresh and yummy. The ambiance is a hometown feel although it was a little cold where we sat. Will I be back absolutely and should you try it.. yea!

Yelp
Flavors are impressive! It's clear the chef loves the craft. Everything we ate was good. Started off with egg rolls and wings... loved the crispy egg rolls and the dip, the wings were spicier than I could handle as the heat def builds. The dill ranch was a nice balance to them though. The meatball pasta with the mushroom sauce was so rich and creamy and the potatoes were just as creamy and flavorful. The waitress was awesome! Extremely accommodating and had a great mood for it to be close to closing time. We enjoyed the back party room, with the long table that everyone could talk around. The kids enjoyed playing musical chairs in the funky assorted chairs around the table. Disclaimer: don't get your heart set on a menu item. This is a "no-waste kitchen" which has meant the 2 times I've been there have been significant outages on the menu. The last time I went was the night before their menu switched seasons so it was easier for our waitress to go through the menu highlighting what they actually had, rather than what they ran out of. That said... whatever they can make... is worth it!

Yelp
Once again (third time out of four visits) we had to leave without eating. An hour+ in. I asked if the biscuits were ready before ordering the food and the answer was yes, but don't trust that. They never are. Service was lovely, no issues there. The kitchen has consistently been awful. Too bad, the one time I actually had an hour and a half to wait, the food was decent. But you can't charge $16 for biscuits and gravy that never actually come out. Don't waste your time. I'm always looking for a place for business dinners, but after so many tries and utter fails, this place is a hard no. If it were not for the kind service, I would have given zero stars.

Yelp
Hey family! Happy Saturday. My friend suggested that we come here for brunch to catch up. She made a reservation for 11:30 which I highly suggest because that was at the height of a busy time. Everything was still fresh and delicious but the wait time was a little long. In fairness they did have a large party in the back. The staff was very friendly and checked on us very adequately. Since we were catching up, we didn't mind the wait on the food as we had equally good conversation. I still haven't made it for dinner but I hope I will soon.

Yelp
My sorority sisters and I reached out to this establishment to host our 10 year anniversary brunch celebration. They were polite and responded quickly. They asked for the name of our event to print menus for us twice, but still managed to print a misspelling. Anyway, after a wonderful weekend back home at our alma mater and submitting a down payment for their private room, we dined in as normal. Our party was about 18 people. One guest was presented what she ordered, shrimp and grits, but it looked like pasta. She requested to order something else as the presentation was strange. They told us we had to pay for both meals despite the fact that she didn't eat anything or they'd call the police. For clarification she asked that if she ordered something else and paid for that, she would still need to pay for the shrimp and grits. They said yes or they would call the police because it was prepared to their standard. They called the police! The police confirmed it was a law in place but it would be up their discretion to actually press charges. One officer said he has never ever experienced a case in which a restaurant actually enforced the law. Again, I want to mention there were about 18 people in our party and this commotion was about ONE person feeling uneasy about their meal. I have never had this happen to me especially considering the circumstances! To call the police for a $25 meal is absolutely crazy. In a college town so close to NCAT, I worry about the safety of folks who choose to dine here. To refuse to comp ONE meal when you're guaranteed payment for a party of 18 (food and drinks) plus gratuity is crazy. I don't care what the law is - that is crazy and unprofessional. Dine somewhere willing to prioritize customer experience and satisfaction.

Yelp
Went here on a Sunday for brunch. I ordered the corn beef hash, very good & my aunt ordered the good morning burger & fries. My food came out & was pretty good, but my aunt's burger was practically raw inside, so we asked could she have a new burger cooked. Instead of just cooking a new burger for her, they did that & CHARGED us for a whole new meal. The waitress cited it as "any consumable food can't be refunded." Mind you my aunt had to try the burger to find out it was pink. They only took $4 off the bill, which did not make a big difference considering they charged us $17 for a whole new meal. The food was pretty good I'll say but the poor communication & lack of customer service regarding that extra meal charge was not OK. Will not return!

Yelp
Fantastic food and service. This is one of the best places to eat in Greensboro! The food is out of this world which you will totally understand why once you've read the history about Cille and Roscoe. The owners could not be kinder people. Shawn, the owner and executive chef was a contestant on Chopped. Once you eat his food you will know why. His wife who oversees operations will keep the place humming with a smile on her face and a hug while managing a restaurant and five children. I've had them host a private party for me and would do it again. Five stars from me!

Yelp
Truly enjoy the ambience and delicious Farm to table experience here! The owners are always so friendly and have trained their staff just as well too! We sat at the bar on Saturday night - they were busy but the host said he could sit us pretty quickly at the bar which he did as soon as it two seats opened up (maybe waited 15 min but they have a good amount of seating in their bay window/lobby area). As soon as we sat, the bartenders greeted us with water. I ordered the cheerwine old fashioned which she highly recommended and it was just as good as she said it would be! Nice sweetness with the cheerwine but strong bourbon flavor still. Would highly recommend. My friend got a glass of Rose which the bartender was knowledgeable and recommended as well! We ended up sharing two dishes - one appetizer and one main dish which the bartender said it would be plenty of food to split and boy, it definitely was! We shared their cauliflower popcorn and homemade chicken and dumplings. Holy smokes - SO GOOD! The cauliflower was breaded perfectly and covered in truffle and Parmesan - you could smell it a mile away, you could dip in their homemade Caesar dressing sauce which was delicious and their chicken and dumplings were actually two huge dumplings stuffed with chicken and smothered surrounded by the thick soup or more like gravy - these were insane (kind of looked like a big stuffed burrito covered in gravy on the dish)! I liked that the chicken was shredded and the dough of the dumplings were soft - almost a little too doughy but they were still really good. I wanted to spoonful the gravy it was soo good I started dipping my cauliflower in it too! Location is in the heart of downtown Greensboro on Elm street across from Cheesecakes by Alex. Plenty of free parking in nearby parking lot or even off of Greene near Carolina theatre and a nearby parking deck off Washington. Highly recommend - as long as you have time to wait and enjoy the full experience! I've been to brunch there as well and it was just as good! Everything is made to order so it may take a little bit but it's well worth the wait! I appreciate more than anything that this place is family owned and farm to mouth - the guy is the chef and his wife is always there working hard, even served us that night. The Chef clearly puts a lot of thought into everything he cooks too! Kudos to y'all!

Yelp
Cille & Scoe is a gem in Greensboro! Farm-to-table with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. I highly recommend this spot!

Yelp
Great place with a better story. Locally sourced farm to table. The charred wings are delicious with just a hint of heat. The Beth to Julian salad with grilled chicken was delicious. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. Not a fast food place so enjoy your time. I did with A tasty a Cheerwine old fashioned.

Yelp
My wife was recommended this place by some coworkers, so we decided to check it out for our anniversary brunch. Seemed like a place a little nicer than where we usually eat, so we treated ourselves to a more upscale brunch. The night (Friday) before we made a reservation for 11:30 AM on Saturday. I am glad we made a reservation since that was the first thing we were asked when we walked in the door, despite most of the restaurant being empty. We were sat across from the bar in a small walkway, where kitchen staff, patrons, & unruly children ran back and forth to the point where we felt like we couldn't have a conversation without someone ease-dropping. Waitress was able to take our orders fairly quickly, after explaining to us that we couldn't order just a side of the grit cakes & instead we had to order the whole meal of Shrimp & Grit Cakes ($29). Not a big deal, not the waitress' fault. Still seemed a bit silly. Food arrives (1 hour after we order) and is personally just okay. The Neeses Sausage gravy seemed like they had the sausage & gravy in separate containers and only combined them once on the plate. The 'blackened' chicken was overcooked, taking the name too literally. Also - not necessarily the restaurant's fault as I could've ordered a regular yolk omelette but why would you put an egg-white omelette on the menu when you're cooking with farm fresh eggs? As someone who has raised chickens since the hey were 15, yolks from a farm fresh egg are what makes it taste amazing.

Yelp
Limited menu, even more limited, when they are out of most of the things. Portions and pricing need to be worked on. I hope that as a new business they are able to improve. The wine and cocktail pricing is outrageous

Yelp
We went for my wife's birthday and we made a reservation for. Party of 6. Table was ready, server took our orders pretty quickly. I got the Cinnabon late and loved it. We split the Brussels sprout salad and the biscuit board and both were just great. Waitress did tell us food would take a while "which we are ok with as long as food is worth it" which it was. I got the corned beef hash and man that was the best one I've ever had. That rosemary aioli just added that extra touch. Everyone at our table loved the food. There was the apple French toast was awesome as well as the biscuits and gravy. I've been in the industry for over 30 years and this place served my family one of the best meals we've ever had. I would much rather wait an hour for my meal and it be worth it, than it taking 20 and most if the time it came out of a jar, box, or can. This place is well worth it. We will be back very soon and more frequently.

Yelp
Probably one of the worse places I've eaten at. The food took about 1 hr 30 min but it was not busy and most everyone had their food. The server wasn't bad and apologized but when the food finally got her it wasn't even warm. The hen and bread did not have flavor and was dry. The omelette was $17 just for the omelette!!!! No sides and dry chicken! To top it off when we got the bill it had 20% gratuity added yet no warning not even on the menu. It was a bad experience and for anyone out of town don't try it.

Yelp
The first red flag was the uncomfortable seating, which would have made a normal restaurant experience unpleasant, much less one involving a three hour wait. Our party of six with a 1:30 pm brunch reservation had a cramped table with narrow, metal stools that had no backs or cushions. The restaurant was fairly busy when we entered. A sign on the door advised that they were short staffed. The waitress was reasonably quick taking our drink and appetizer order, whick locked us in. No signs of anything out of the ordinary. While waiting she eventually came back and, with some prompting, took our food order also so that the kitchen could get started on it while the drinks and appetizers were out, or so she claimed. She came back later and told us they were out of the wine used in the mimosa flights, so we would need to purchase the entire bottle. Extra charge, but we got the juice for free at least. Only "freebie" we would get out of this ordeal. It took considerably longer for the mimosas to arrive. We had probably been waiting about 45min to an hour by this point. Our appetizer, the biscuit board, would be another 30-45min after that. It was a single biscuit cut up with a few meager toppings. Hardly what was advertised. And hardly worth the hour and a half wait. The waitress had been largely inattentive but sensed by now we were growing impatient. She claimed the reason for the delay was the kitchen needed to make a fresh batch of biscuits because they ran out. It would be another 45 min for our actual food to arrive. By now it was around 3:30 pm and the restaurant was closing down. The waitress sensed we were getting pissed off and explained there had been a large party in the back room just before us. Why it took two hours to explain this is a mystery. The food was adequate, nothimg special. Thd bacon tasted like it was microwaved. The manager came by at one point and offered the same explanation as the waitress about the party in the back but offered no make good for the ludicrous wait time. When the bill came, they had the audacity to automatically charge a 20% gratuity on the check. The "manager" was a young woman with tattoos and piercings who clearly was out of her league and was the root of the entire problem. Short staffed or not, there appeared to be no managing involved. At one point when the restaurant was slammed, one of the staff was squeegeeing the windows. Who knows what the kitchen was up to. Fortunately for them, I was not the one footing the bill or they would not have been paid.

Yelp
Cille and Scoe made my mom's 98th birthday unforgettable! Every single detail...the food quality, the welcoming private room and especially the service were all top notch! Mathis provided 1st class service and is truly gem. Chef Sean made my mom feel extra special and I thank you both. Some of my family's feedback: "You chose a great restaurant and the food was delicious!" "The restaurant selection was 10/10." "The food and venue were an excellent choice!" We'll be back soon and I encourage you all to go!

Yelp
Not impressed. Had reservations at lunchtime on a Saturday. Got there and no table for us. Food took two hours to get there and I can assure you had he served this fish on"Chopped " he would have been chopped because the breading did not adhere to the fish. You need to allow hours to eat here.

Yelp
Waited 1 hour and 20 minutes service was mediocre. Food was not bad. Not recommended
