"Having a celebrated classic Russian restaurant at your delivery fingertips is a San Francisco luxury in San Francisco that should be taken advantage of. Dumplings are a must and Cinderella’s blinchiki and soup offerings should at least be taken under consideration. Beyond that, it’s hard to go wrong with the restaurant’s robust offerings that include breakfast, sandwiches, and dessert. And speaking of dessert, don’t snooze on the honey cake." - Dianne de Guzman

"If only tender, chewy cookies are acceptable to you, rest easy when ordering from Danielle Estrella Pastry Art. The pop-up is focused on soft-baked cookies from the usual chocolate chip to some less expected flavors like a Nutella-stuffed hazelnut and pistachio chocolate. Our favorites are the cookies n’ cream and macadamia blueberry with white chocolate. Worth trying in the non-cookie department are any of the seasonal tarts and cakes. Danielle Estrella Pastry Arts is usually at Gilbert’s Latin Fusion on Saturdays and Barebottle’s Bernal Heights location on Sundays, though it is subject to change—keep an eye on Instagram." - patrick wong
"Cinderella Bakery & Cafe is a counter-service Russian spot in the Richmond that’s always bustling with families and bikers grabbing hand-held piroshkis after a triple-digit ride. They serve a range of dishes, like housemade breads, salads, borsch, and pelmeni, but you’re also here for a slice of medovik. The honey cake, stacked high with thin, fluffy layers, gets just the right amount of sweetness from condensed milk. It’s perfect every time." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong
"Taking over the former La Victoria location on 24th Street by the end of 2025, this long-running Russian bakery (in operation since 1953) will bring its Balboa Street menu to the Mission and will also host local art shows and exhibits in the new space. The building was bought back in 2018 by owners Mike and Marika Fishman. Calle 24 president Erick Arguello told Mission Local, “Everything is fine,” and added, “The important thing is that they’ve integrated into the community.”" - Paolo Bicchieri
"This all-day Russian cafe and bakery has savory piroshkis, flaky pastries, and a never-ending menu of cookies, tarts, and cakes (there's also a full menu of entrées). Basically, this Richmond spot, which has been around in some form since the 1950s, is the one-stop shop for all the warm, sweet, savory, and comforting pastries that'll make you feel like an overused cable knit sweater. The rest of the neighborhood knows this, too, since there’s always a line, and people warming up on the parklet over some meat-filled pelmeni or delicate honey cakes that nail the light, spongy texture every time." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong
