Yelp
Man. What a disappointment this place was. Eater had it on their list of 38 "Essential" restaurants in Baltimore (I pore over their lists regularly, so didn't hesitate to hit up Cindy Lou's on their recommendation).
The space is nice. Open, airy, lots of glass. Breathtaking view of the harbor. And that's the best I can say about it.
We were early for our reservation, so decided to wait at the bar for our friends (there was an O's game letting out and traffic by the stadium was ridiculous).
ANYWAY, the bartender tossed (quite literally TOSSED) menus at us and walked away without a word. She came back about 10 minutes later with water. I said "thank you so much!" and she just turned and walked away. About 10 minutes after that (and there were MAYBE 5 other people at the bar) she returned, asking if we wanted drinks. Um, yes. My BF ordered his, then she left to make it. After she gave him his drink, she turned to walk away, and I said," Excuse me!" and she said, "Oh, did you want something, too?" I cannot remember the last time I had such a substandard bartending experience. Like, it was BAD. But whatever.
The rest of our party arrived and we were seated at our table. Appetizers were good. The fried green tomato stack was quite good. The Virginia ham and biscuits were good. The crab and corn chowder was bland and tasteless.
The crab cakes (6 of our 7 ordered them) were mediocre, at best. If you're making crab cakes in Baltimore, you'd best make them right. I was the one holdout and got catfish. And it was... fine? I asked for some malt vinegar for it and the fries that came with it, but it took like 25 minutes for it to get to the table.
At the end of the day, with wine and drinks and apps and dinner for 7 of us, it cost close to $1000. And it was such a let down. Won't be back.
Nice view though.
