15 Ultimate Comfort Food Dishes to Stress Eat in Los Angeles | Eater LA

10 of San Gabriel Valley’s Finest Noodle Bowls, Mapped | Eater LA

"Cindy’s Kitchen’s Taiwanese-style zhajiangmian isn’t quite as nutty or sweet as its mainland/Korean-Chinese-style counterparts, but it’s helped along by savory pork flavor and little bits of tofu and balanced out by grassy bean sprouts and julienned cucumbers. The al dente noodles stand up well to the application and provide a nice chew." - Euno Lee

Google
We ordered a ton of food, and every dish was seriously yummy! The staff hooked us up with some great recommendations too—the stir-fried beef was super tender, and the chow mein was packed with goodies. Loved it all! The mung bean soup? Perfect for beating the summer! prices is friendly…

Located in a strip mall in a residential area. This restaurant has parking. Service is fast and they can cook delicious food. Must try when you’re in this area. We tried plenty of dishes.

Google
The food was really good! I ordered several classic dishes and asked them to reduce the spiciness for my friends who are more sensitive to spicy foods, and it was about right. I would recommend you to leave it as is if you enjoy spicy foods, however. Their beef noodle soup was nothing special, but their fish and other dishes were amazing. I'll have to come back to try their dumplings sometime, because I saw many people having it and I came during an off hour time. Parking was easy to find but it was a very small parking lot.

Local Restaurant, Budget-Friendly, and Old-School Cuisine It was my last meal in LA for this trip, and Cindy's was our final choice! In brief, Cindy's Kitchen offered delicious food at a budget-friendly price. The portions were generous, especially the Beef Noodle soup – it absolutely must-have. The side dishes were also excellent and served as good time-killers. It seems this place is taken care of by only one friendly Ta-Jie (Big Sister). So food may take a bit longer time than usual.

Google
Amazing beef noodle soups. I got the tendon beef (medium spice) this time. Everything was so tender and delicious. Amazing portions, delicious chewy noodles. And you can't forget the house made pickled greens. I always add two spoonfuls. They're always super sweet and kind. If you're here, be kind to the staff. It's a mom and pop shop.

This is what a home cooked meal tastes like - nothing super fancy, but big portions and heart warming flavors.

Just found this place recently and it’s my new favorite now! The beef noodle here is amazing, they gave big pieces of beef which worthy the price as well.

Google
🇹🇼 TAIWAN (via Eat the World Los Angeles) - The beautiful bowl of ground pork and mushroom over rice ($10.95) is a must order, the kind of dish you take a first spoon of and look across the table at your dining partner nodding your head. Both the mushrooms and pork are very finely chopped and spread generously over a pile of fresh white rice, but what sends this over the top is that it is not just lean pork in there. Instead, it is also joined by smoky pork belly, which really puts this version on another level no matter what spices its competitors are using.

Yelp
Small mom and pop type place. This place came on my radar because I heard that their beef noodle soup was really great and that's why I wanted to make a trip out here. It's located in a small strip mall that feels slightly off the beaten path in the area. I came during the week wanting something soupy, and this place was perfect. They also sell frozen dumplings to go and other dishes that you can take to go or eat there. When I got there, the place wasn't too busy so I was able to sit right away and I was helped by some really sweet people. The noodle soup came out pretty quickly and it was as great as I imagined. I also ended up ordering a package of dumplings to go so I can eat later at home. Definitely recommend this place and these are the type of places I like to support!

Yelp
As I get older and older, there are two things that's prevalent. 1) I tend to forget a lot of things, including reviewing Yelp restaurants I went to a month ago. 2) I tend to gravitate towards childhood staple hole in the wall places to eat rather than chain restaurants. Come enter Cindy's Kitchen. A restaurant with the smallest parking lot and table made for 5 to 6 parties. You know what though? If you can find a spot, they'll make it work for you here. I was lucky enough to score a table but the people who came after had to wait. The owners here do try to have a table ready for the party. As you enter, you're greeted by the staggering amount of side dishes available here. It's probably the most I've seen ever in a restaurant. They have some all ready to go, while some you can buy by the pound. But the day I was here, we were here for some childhood favorites such as pork chop rice. It's good, it's got a stewed egg along with minced pork. If you look closely at the minced pork there seems to be mushrooms and mustard greens. Both common to the traditional Taiwanese staple dish. BTW, they give you a heaping portion of rice. Maybe equivalent to 2 bowls at home. We had to order something green to go with it and the string beans with eggplant fits the bill. I don't know why more Chinese restaurants don't put both together because we love both dishes. I highly recommend ordering it if you too love both dishes but don't want to order two separate ones. The beef noodle soup, well it was terrific. If you know me and beef noodle soup, I'm always on the hunt for really great ones. This one is no exception, it is a MUST order. Has just enough spices and heat that comforts your stomach and triggers your childhood memories on why this is one of your favorite dishes. Beef is tender and flavorful and comes with boy choy and a 1/2 small jar of mustard greens. (We finished whatever was in the jar, our compliments to the chef ) I do want to point out I had originally asked for 1 container for 2 dishes. But the lady saw what I had to take home and decided to give me 2 different containers. I merely pointed this out only because this is typically what Asian aunties would do. To tell you that separate this dishes so you don't mix up the flavors when reheating. I've been dying to come back here, I think I'll make a visit soon!

Yelp
Staple from my childhood. Very glad they are still in business. Restaurant seats about 24 people and only has about 8 tabletops. Parking lot is small so if you're able to get a seat in the restaurant, you'll be able to enjoy all the pickled mustard greens. Front of house is run by 1 person and service is always great no matter how busy they get. Spareribs were super tender and nicely seasoned. Mushrooms soak up a lot of the sauce and sodium so make sure to eat with rice. Beef noodle soup is a solid choice. Beef is super tender and they don't skimp on their protein portions. Also love that they still provide you with the pickled mustard green jar to scoop as much as you want. Please don't waste it if you aren't going to actually eat it! The soup base compared to other places is a lot lighter but still very flavorful. Overall, If you're looking for some nice local Taiwanese food, then this is the right place for you. Prices are also still super affordable compared to most other newly opened places.

Yelp
After three visits here, I feel like I can give a good review of the menu. Cindy's Kitchen is a hole in the wall that only seats about 18 people so it looks like some regulars opt to order food to go. They have a wide variety of options from noodle dishes to stir fry dishes to rice bowl options so there's something for everyone. They also make/sell frozen XLB, wontons, buns and dumplings which I've not tried. Unfortunately, they don't sell XLB for dine in customers but they do offer dumplings and wontons. Beyond all this, they have many cold dishes at the deli counter and most of these are pretty good so they can compliment the stir fry dishes. As other have noted, they only have 1 person in the front of house so service may be slower. I think there's only 2 people in the kitchen. In my three dinner visits, I only saw one non-Chinese speaking table so I have no idea how well the waitress can communicate in English but there is English on the menu as well as on all the signs for the sides and frozen foods for sale. Parking lot isn't big but if you come for dinner, the other businesses may be closed which helps. Check out my pics including the menu.

Yelp
Heard about this place from my coworker and we decided to come here for lunch on a Wednesday at 1200. Tiny parking lot and even smaller inside with just 5-6 tables. It was really busy and packed and there were a lot of people coming in to pick up orders to go. One lady, I'm assuming the owner, was pretty much doing everything in the front of the house. Serving, taking orders, cleaning, etc. Me and my coworker got the beef noodle soup and it was really good. You can get spicy or mild and we got mild. The color of the beef looked a little weird, but it was nice and tender and falls apart. I usually don't like bok choy, but it was also really good. I also liked the pickled mustard they have on each table that you can add to your noodles. It was also a really huge bowl, way bigger than most other beef noodle soup I have had at other places. Around $30 for two big bowls of noodles is also a pretty good price. Like I said earlier, it is one lady working so it took about 20-30 minutes to get our food. I didn't mind as I had nothing else to do, but if you're impatient, you might not like eating here. Really big menu with a lot of different stuff on there. They also have frozen dumplings and buns for sale and a lot of cold item appetizers that looked really good. I'll be back to try some of the other stuff on the menu.

Yelp
My go to Chinese restaurant! Food is amazing every time I come here. My favorite is the tripe with chili oil. Great appetizer to start with. I also love the eggplant and dumplings. It taste homemade and love every bite of it! Staff is amazing and always making sure our food is good. It's a cozy and homey place to eat. Parking can sometimes be limited but there's always a place to park. Overall my favorite Chinese restaurant!

Yelp
Beef noodle soup was tasty and reminds me of 富宏牛肉麵 in Taipei. Fried chicken was super crispy and tender. Ordered way too much for 2 people....

Yelp
For those Yelpers who are on the hunt for aesthetics or bougie ambiance - this isn't your place. It has the true look and feel of a hole-in-the-wall but with that trade off, you get amazing food quality, service with a smile, authentic ambiance - all from this one-woman (front of) shop. Cindy's Kitchen is a legit hole-in-the-wall, authentic Chinese/Taiwanese cuisine, absolute gem for the Hacienda/Rowland Heights area. There's limited parking in the small plaza and only a few tables inside. These simple home-cooked meals are packed with flavor and love - definitely a must try when you're around. Pricing is fair for the amount of food, and you'll see a LOT of foot traffic from locals. Enjoy!

Yelp
I finally visited after so long. I think I saw this place last year and intended to visit since then. Yesterday was the day. I loved that they had so many cold appetizers ready to serve. I love Chinese style potato salad, and they had that ready to serve. I ordered pork belly and the beef combination plates. Pork belly Tender and jiggle, lol. I thought it was really good and I could taste it's home made. I only wished it had more flavor. Perhaps more sweetness, or dark soy sauce, or spices. It was a little bit ... well it lacked flavor for me. Beef combination plate Lots of meat like tendon, stomach, and other beefy bits. I loved that it is homemade. But again, I thought it was missing flavor. Or, maybe I didn't like the flavor profile? Idk!! I just didn't find myself being addicted and going in bite after bite. Potato salad Good! Enjoyable! But also lacked that punch of flavor. I expect a little more vinegary flavor. This was very subtle with mild flavors. Cold cucumber salad Enjoyable. Fresh with nice flavor. Ultimately! I'm glad I visited. The dishes were beautiful and so inviting! But I ultimately was let down by almost everything. Perhaps I'll return and try other dishes. My search for great, braised pork belly continues.

Yelp
Do not pass up the chance to eat here - hidden in a tiny strip mall in Hacienda Heights is this is teeny gem of a restaurant serving authentic Taiwanese food. Yes the ownership changed about a year ago but the back staff are the same. Do not come here for a fancy date. It's literally five tables in a small space surrounded by large freezers filled with frozen dumplings and noodles. Unless of course you are trying to impress someone like me who loves loves loves finding mom-and-pop shops specializing in authentic, tasty, and unique dishes! You come up to the glass cases to feast your eyes on the freshly made cold dishes of the day - my favorites were the crisp lotus roots, pleasantly bitter lightly garlicky bitter melon, crunchy marinated black wood ear, seasoned tofu strips in mild chili oil, tofu skin with snow peas, or any of the smoked "tapas" - sliced chicken gizzard, chili oil tripe, smoked shredded intestines, shredded pork with bamboo and snow cabbage, sliced marinated beef cuts...literally pick any of them and it will be refreshing, light, healthy and delicious. I loved the vegetable cold dishes the most, save your protein choices from the main menu because they are so delicious and well prepared. The smoked cold dishes are nice but they all taste about the same, just the texture is different depending on the protein source. Outstanding dishes I have had here: #Beef noodle soup (紅燒牛肉麵)- I liked mine spicy, and I requested half beef, half beef tendon. Both were *perfectly* marinated, tender, juicy, toothsome, as were the noodles (I prefer the thin noodles). The best part of this amazing meal is the shredded pickled cabbage - sweet and sour, make sure to add a big gob of it to the soup before enjoying! Do not eat this without the cabbage, it literally is the best. Just like in Taiwan! #Braised pork rice - I had this both ways (large chunks of braised pork belly, vs ground pork) and both were delicious. For those foodies (you know who you are) choose the chunks, you'll thank me later! #Kung Pao Chicken - OK this is a Sichuan dish and got added to the menu when the ownership changed hands, but it is best I've had! they use roasted peanuts and it is a winner! Ask for a bit more spice if you can tolerate it! Enjoy with the jasmine rice #Snow Ear Red Date brown rock sugar drink/dessert - this is literally made perfectly each time, a bit on the sweet side so I like to bring it home and dilute with water so you can enjoy the moisturizing and soothing effects (hello gorgeous skin) during the summer and fall months #Tea - the jasmine tea they serve here with every meal is high quality with a gorgeous mouthfeel thanks to the tannins and beautifully fragrant, not the watered down D-grade stuff they typically serve at most large chinese restaurants to save money. I literally would come back just to hang out for the tea. There are lots of other dishes I'd love to try, including cumin beef, other braised dishes, but start with the above time-tested classic comfort dishes and enjoy working your way through the menu!

Yelp
It's already bad it takes 35+ minutes to get our food, but it's bad on a whole other level when we witness those arriving and ordering after us, gotten their food then had even left before we saw a glimpse of our dishes. Plus, you still owe us the two glasses of water that you promised us about 15 minutes into your restaurant sitting.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow Cindy's continues to be a solid local spot and consistent with their quality. This time we ordered their cucumber/bittermelon/seaweed/spicy bean curd good dishes, beef tendon noodle soup, soybean sauce (zha jiang mian) noodle, shrimp/pork/leek dumplings and house tofu. I loved everything except for the house tofu because it was fried and I prefer braised, soft tofu. Otherwise, every other dish we ordered was lit. Can't wait to come back for more!!!
google avatar

Jesse V.

Yelp
The reviews don't lie. This place is good. Located in a tiny strip mall, this hole in the wall would be unsuspecting to most. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and pork intestine and pork blood soup with tofu. Both were solid. Some of the best kung pao I've ever had. First time trying a soup like that and it was also delicious. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Cindy's Kitchen is an authentic Taiwanese/Chinese hole-in-the-wall restaurant that's been around for a really long time. The inside looks like it's falling apart, but the flavors are great. It's one of those restaurants where the owner takes your order and most of the patrons speak mandarin to her. They specialize in small dishes (almost like Chinese tapas) that's premade in the glass fridge in the front. The prices are listed and you tell her what you want. However, their a-la-carte menu is very robust too. Their beef noodle soup is the most popular, but we tried their braised beef combination for the first time (see picture) and it was very good. Overall, come for flavor, not aesthetics.

Yelp
I picked this restaurant for my birthday dinner for no reasons other than I wanted Taiwanese Food, I wanted to try a new restaurant, and this was close by. When we arrived, I really thought I made a mistake. This is a tiny hole in the wall place that really looked kind of sketchy. I tried it against my better judgment, and the food was Da Bomb! So good! They have authentic Taiwanese food with authentic Taiwanese drinks. I had a lot of delicious and hard to find Taiwanese dishes that are not your typical popcorn chicken or stinky tofu that everyone knows. I highly recommend. I brought a bunch of none Asian friends and they loved the place too.
google avatar

Jeannie D.

Yelp
This place is surprisingly good. I ordered the beef noodle soup and wonton soup. I know it's not a lot, but the flavors were there. It's really a small place with a few tables and they also sell snacks on the side. Like peanuts. It reminded me of a home cooked meal. Not the commercially processed stuff. The service was good. I placed an order for pick up and they were done sooner than they said. They also packed it up really good and put everything in a box to make sure nothing falls over in the car. By the time I got home [approx a little over an hour drive] everything was still hot and ready to eat. I will be back to try other things on their menu.
google avatar

Joey G.

Yelp
Great place for authentic Taiwanese dishes! The minced pork is a great to go dish. I am normally not a big fan of pork but this restaurant does it well. The pan fried beef was nice and spicy without being too spicy. There's lots of frozen items if you want to take some food home. The restaurant is a little small but it is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and attentive. Their smoked duck is absolutely packed with smoky flavor. Their portion sizes are generous and the food is fairly priced. They have free onsite parking. I love supporting mom and pop shops like this. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Apparently we have been coming here for take out weekend lunches per my mom's favorite spot. It was just my first time visiting 'Cindy's Kitchen,' with her. How to make your visit efficient~ Place phone order for take out. But we are frequent customers, so the order taker already knew us without asking for a name. Doing this will help reduce waiting time upon arrival if you are in a rush. They are Taiwanese cuisines sold here even though management may not seem to be from Taiwan anymore (we are told it's sold over): their dishes range from rice to noodles. I believe I got the Pork Stew rice today. We ordered a couple more other dishes I can't translate. Since we phone ordered before driving here, we were in and out of here within 1/2 hour. There was a bit of a wait because there were other phone orders before us! We will be back again like next week. Give them a try if you like Taiwanese food, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
It took us several years to stop by this restaurant a block away from home, especially since we had peaked in before and wasn't sure what they specialized in. After the guise of our fellow yelpers, we ordered the beef stew and it has become part of our go to places nearby. It's typical to see clients show up with their personal pots, an indication that they plan to use to host large parties. Each time we go, we try a something different but in all honesty, it's the beef stew with noodles that had us returning.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Beef noodle soup was pretty good and filling, but the star of the show was the pork rice. Never knew the pork could be so tender and they give you like two bowls worth of rice
google avatar

Elaine L.

Yelp
Was so glad I happened on this very unassuming joint after a visit to the Hsi Lai Temple nearby. Probably the best beef noodle I've ever had stateside (compared to Taiwan that is), the other reviews don't lie. We also ordered the braised pork intestine which had the perfect amount of smoke to the flavor. We had some leftover pork intestine to take home, but we also ordered a few cold apps to take home. All of it was very very tasty for dinner later. Definitely going to stop by here again the next time I go to the temple.

Serli G.

Yelp
The place is small but the service is fast and the lady who serve us is nice. The foods taste soo delicious.I took my son,who is so picky, there and he loves it.
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered a bunch of stuff to try: - beef noodle soup: the beef is mostly tender, but the noodles are very clumpy for take out. It's probably much tastier eating it in person. - dry beef noodle: this comes with a sesame sauce on top. My husband thought it wasn't bad. - fried pork chop rice bento: this was our favorite! Super flavorful. Comes with thin pork chop, an egg, a marinated tofu, and some minced pork sauce. This is what we would order the next time we come back. - tofu skin cold salad: this dish wasn't bad but some pieces of tofu needed to be cooked a little longer because they were too hard.

Yelp
Cindy's Kitchen - the talk of the town for Taiwanese braised dishes. Okay, let's dive in. The braised dishes (luwei)? Respectable. It gives you a hint of the Taiwanese flavor, and while it may not sweep you off your feet, it's definitely their standout. The Shrimp Fried Rice? Solid. It won't top my list, but it does its job. But here's where things get a bit tangled. Service. With just one waitress juggling calls, walk-ins, and dine-ins, it's a whirlwind. I mean, I get it, times are tough, and staffing can be a challenge. But watching a fellow diner walk out due to the wait? That was a scene. Bottom line? If you're in the mood for some decent braised dishes and you've got time on your hands, Cindy's Kitchen might be your spot. But if you're in a rush or expecting prompt service, you might want to think twice.

Yelp
Great place to eat at or to take out- since I'm a YT many of these dishes are new for me and they are tasty and healthy as well- Don't second guess this place- the quick to go food is the best- veggies to the wild meat dishes- I am thinking of going there tonight again - get a few samples to make sure you like to - don't be shy/ ask for 4 samples to make sure you get what you love!!!!

Yelp
My favorite place to go for beef noodle soup, the service is fast and efficient and the food is awesome. The restaurant has about 5-6 tables depending on size of the parties, but usually it's pretty open. Food: I mainly come here for the beef noodle soup, I switch it up from mixed, beef/tendon, and just beef. The soup is not overly salty and heavy like a lot of places, but it just tastes amazing. The portions are big so you can share between two people. The bowl comes with meat, noodles, garnish (green onion), and also two stalks of bok choy. Ask for the pickled veggies on the side! They also have a bunch of cold side dishes you can either take togo or eat it there. Make sure to try the pickled veggies, marinated meats, and also the tofu skin.
google avatar

Vivian C.

Yelp
Very cute mom and pop shop that serves cheap Taiwanese food! The beef noodle soup was only $12 and they also have a variety of cold dishes you can order as well. We asked for a side of chili oil and it went well with our food. Parking is a bit small but I believe it's the only restaurant in the plaza so shouldn't get too bad.
google avatar

Walt Y.

Yelp
Great food, period. A hole in the wall find that you will love if you are a foodie. The pickled snacks in refrigerator display case are killer. Be warned, there is not much seating available. And if you do get a table, it is a bit noisy. Plan on takeout! Been going here for a few years when we visit from the Bay area.

Yelp
Great food and service, people are friendly, helpful, and got my order in a timely manner.

Yelp
So. Much. Yesssssss. I'm taiwanese and I absolutely love this place! Everything tastes just as my mom would make it. I also really appreciated how they had side dishes or other meats to go. Similar to a deli. And they had fridges full of frozen foods! Lions head braised meat balls. Potstickers. Wonton. They speak Chinese but are also fluent in English. I will be coming back and bringing my parents for sure. I like this place more than Dagos in West Covina. Just tastes more homemade and brings back nostalgia.
google avatar

Ray J.

Yelp
Drove by this restaurant for years but never got the chance to give it a try, until when we start looking for cold stew marinated dishes, a few friends highly recommend this restaurant! During my 1st visit, I got 7 different cold dishes: pork ear, cold seaweed, salty peanuts, sour cabbage pork belly, smoke intestine, Shanghai tofu & mushroom, and string tofu salad. Brought to a potluck and everyone loved the dishes! I brought my Mom there a few weeks after, and we got similar cold dishes and also porkchop rice, and fried noodle. The lady was really nice and offer the Mix & Match cold dish option, in that way, we can almost try everything in the cooler! Compared to cold dishes, the porkchop plate is just standard. The noodle came with a nice portion but didn't stand out either.
google avatar

Red G.

Yelp
This is more a take out place with traditional Chinese appetizers and noodles. There are a few tables but it's very small. They have frozen dumplings to buy as a pack but they are all pork mixed in with leeks or cabbage. Pork is not my thing but if you like it, it's definitely a good go to place for homemade dumplings. I got the Ma-La Shaved Beef tendon and cold tofu mix dish. Both were good enough but I would not go out of my way to eat there. Bear in mind, I also live quite far away. If I lived closer, maybe I would become a regular.
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
Delicious, savory and authentic Taiwanese food. Beef noodle, braise pork over rice and combo chow mein were amazing! Fast and friendly service. Cozy, mom-n-pop, deli-like ambiance. Very quiet. Highly recommended. We look forward to coming back and trying other dishes.

Yelp
Might be the best hidden restaurant I've ever found. Their side dishes are on display right when you walk in and you can see what they have ranging from potatoes, tofu, beef, tendon and more. I got the beef stew + beef tendon noodle soup and for the sides we got the tofu and pig ear. Gotta say right now, they're portions are enormous. Not just their side dishes but their noodle soups as well. For the price I paid (~$35 total), this is definitely enough to feed me and my girlfriend for 2 meals. For the sides, the tofu was soft, but still had a bite. The pig ear was gelatinous and very flavorful. Definitely recommend getting some while waiting for your food! For the noodle soup, the noodles were QQ (nam sayin) and the meats was super soft. The stew meat was infused with cartilage that made it fall apart. The tendon literally just melts in your mouth. I want this place to be successful, but lowkey don't want the lines to be long when I come back.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally got lunch here on a Friday afternoon. This is a small place located in a very random plaza with a few stores. We dined in and ordered beef noodle soup, house pork belly, pork/leek/shrimp dumpling, and the shrimp fried rice. It was not busy during this time so we received our order shortly after we ordered. Everything that we ordered tasted good. The beef noodle soup was good. The meat was tender and the soup had a beefy flavor with a bit of spice. The pork belly was very tender and I would come back again for it. They also have frozen dumplings for sale.

Yelp
This place is an unassuming hole in the wall that you could easily drive past. However, this is one spot you will not want to miss. It's a small restaurant, maybe can seat maybe 5 groups of people max, but it's worth checking out even if you have to wait. Usually I'm a big fan of the braised pork, and it didn't disappoint here. However, the true star of the show for me was the Kung Pao chicken; probably the best Kung pao I've ever had in my life. The chicken was tender but crispy, and the peanuts were flavorful and crunchy. Absolutely delicious with rice and their string beans. The food and service were A+ Will definitely be coming back as soon as I have another chance!

Yelp
Family operates, good food, good service, small dining space but good atmosphere. I always order twice cooked pork with cabbage. My favorite there but this dish maybe oily to you, same here but good taste.

Yelp
Finally! Why haven't I been here sooner! I was super sad when Simbala shut down. It was my go to for Taiwanese comfort food. Cindy's kitchen is a small cozy spot that offers all your hearts desires for Taiwanese cold dishes, beef noodle soups , rices plates and various dishes. This place is super clean and give a generous amount. Prices are good too! They also sell frozen dumplings and pancakes! So good.

Yelp
4/5 STARS Order: combination beef noodle soup, tofu+intestine+pickled cabbage stew I come here on the way home from work sometimes to pick up beef noodle soup. The combination one comes with more variety of cuts like tendon and tripe along with the braised beef. Personally its a little salty for my taste but the broth is flavorful and beefy. It comes with thinner noodles normally so if you like the thicker one ask for "wide noodles", not "thick noodle". The tofu instestine pickled cabbage stew (#2 on the menu), is good here. The portion is big and theres also pork blood cubes and leek in it. Note that this dish doesn't come with rice automatically so you'll have to order some or cook rice at home to go with. Service is fine here, nothing special but still much nicer than most other asian restaurants in the area. They get fairly busy sometimes so the wait can be like 10-20 min or so to get your food, but everytime ive gone in the off hours I ususally get it within 12min. The ambience is plain, but theres a variety of foods around to look at. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted by the cold case where they offer small appetizer dishes ranging from $6-$18. They also offer some frozen dumplings and handmade green onion pancakes in the freezer on the right wall. Additionally, next to the cashier there is another fridge where they offer a few deink choices such as "mung bean and barley drink" ($3). Overall I will continue to order my beef noodle soup from here as its a great deal for the price, and it's convenient to pick up on the way home.

Yelp
Love their beef noodle combination soup! Truly an unbeatable price for a filling, delicious bowl. We usually get takeout, but service is always quick and workers are polite.

Yelp
wow. so glad i came across this place. truly a hole in the wall unassuming place, but DELICIOUS. someone mentioned they had the best beef noodle soup so i had to give it a try. i must say i've been on the hunt for YEARS for the best beef noodle soup in town & this place is on my top 3 list! what we ordered: - Pan fried string beans: not spicy like most places, perfectly cooked, not mushy still has a bit of snap! a great savory flavory, but not too salty - beef stew noodle soup: THE STAR. i got it with round noodles and just a little spicy. the meat was so so soft, such flavorful broth, springy noodles & some boy choy! and under $12??? can't go wrong. while eating there there were people coming in & out just picking up a beef noodle soup to go! - Taiwanese rice noodles: these were surprisingly good! pretty okay on their own BUT add their house made chili oil & it brought it to another level. they sell their house made chili oil & i can definitely see why! it added so much flavor while not being too spicy!! it is pretty stuffy in there so i'd recommend taking it to go if it's a hot day! the woman that worked there was so helpful! they have a ton of frozen dumpling, wontons, baos, etc. & she explain how they make everything at their house and walk it over to sell! i left with the green onion pancakes, vegetable baos, pork & choy wontons, and sticky rice in bamboo leaves! so excited to try everything!

Yelp
Food was authentic and perfect! We ordered vegetable fried rice, kung pao chicken, dried sautéed string beans and shredded pork with bean curd. Delicious! My fav was the vegetable fried rice.

Yelp
Come for their signature beef noodle soup and boiled dumplings (also sold in freezer bags of 50). Their chow mein and rice plates are sadly not that great; the minced pork rice lacks flavor and is too oily. Noticed they also have such quintessentially mainland chinese fiery dishes as 'water boiled fish', 'water boiled beef', etc. I doubt I'll ever try these, as my diet these days is leaning toward less spicy and less oily.

Yelp
Made a phone order and the lady said it would be ready in 30 mins, I show up in 30 mins and she uncomfortably giggles and said we haven't even started your order. I was irritated, I ended up waiting another 45 mins for it to be ready and I was fuming by then. This all happened at 5:40, what are they going to do when the dinner rush starts, I'm never coming here again
