Highlights

Circle G is known for southern food and plenty of it. Fried squash, fresh collard greens, macaroni and cheese and fried chicken are few among many of the mouth watering home cooking selections offered.

"The only difference between a diner and a Southern meat-and-three is the long list of daily vegetables. Circle G certainly has those, and all the other trappings of a classic, from down-home decor to friendly servers. Breakfast is served from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday through Friday, and all day Saturday, while the lunch menu has Southern classics with Greek touches (souvlaki, gyros, and baked Grecian chicken), part of Charlotte’s long history of Greek-owned diners." - Sara Akhavan, Kay West, Matt Lardie, Kathleen Purvis, Nikki Miller-Ka

Google
A true southern home cooked dining experience! All the staff here are so very friendly and inviting! I’ve been here many times now, tried many different things, and I can say that I don’t think there is a bad dish on the menu! This place is definitely one of the best hidden gems in all of Charlotte

Google
First time in years but it was just as delicious as always. Packed as expected, very little wait time but well worth it. My sister and I had the Country breakfast and my brother-in-law had the Pork Chops which I couldn't get a picture of due to how fast he was eating it. He said they were some of the best he's had. Definitely would recommend. **EDIT** Went back last Saturday and tried the cheeseburger and fries. Fries were the best I've had in a while but the burger was super chewy. Maybe from overcooking or being frozen? Not sure. I'll still go back for the breakfast items but I'll stay away from those burgers

Google
First time trying this place. Firstly it’s cold in here. I’m coughing left and right. Can we get some heat in the building please. Now for the food. I ordered onion rings and a gyro. Onion rings were cooked great just tasted bland. No seasoning. Gyro pretty much the same. No flavor. My waiter pretty much was okay but she asked me every few minutes was I okay. I know securing a good tip is some work but let me get a chance to try the food please. A lot of these female customers look like they are straight off the track. Crazy. Don’t think I’ll be back anyway. Not my cup of tea. Put love into your cooking instead of rushful service.

Google
I drove by this place earlier and the parking lot was packed, always a good sign so I decided to come back for lunch. I have to say that very few places can prepare chicken livers as good as what I just had! I totally enjoyed every part of this meal. Looking at other customers looks like everyone was enjoying. A must visit if you’re in this part of Charlotte NC.

Google
The food was pretty good. I felt like I should have gotten more fries with my plate but not a deal breaker. I like how it's a mom and pop type place. It was my first time, but I heard a few of the waitresses call customers by name, and that's always nice to hear.

Google
Not the nicest part of town. Prices are more than fair. Service was great. Everybody checks on you. Did not miss a beat. Busy place but food comes out quick.good size portions. Five star places

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday morning . They were serving breakfast all day. Order a veggie omelette and my friend got the spanish omelette other was really good. Place gets packed and gets very busy

Keela D.

Yelp
The chicken was tender, moist, and the skin was crispy. It was not greasy, which is a plus. The greens were good. Needed a pinch of salt, and a splash of  vinegar. The mashed potatoes and gravy was missing the gravy. ‍ The mashed potatoes were basic. The rolls, I did not eat them because I saw the guy picking up rolls up, without wearing gloves, and placing them in the Togo orders.  They have a decent size menu. I would probably give them another.  #chicken #friedfood  #goodeats  #instafood #foodblogger #foodstagram #foodlover #comfortfood #instagood  #cltfoodies #gratuityadded #fyp #foodiesofinstagram #eatlocal #circleg #homestyle #charlottefood #cltfood #cltfoodie #charlottenc #charlotte  #clteats #clt #queencity  #charlotteeats #charlottesgotalot #exploreclt

Yelp
Here again because we enjoyed it so much when we were in town the last time. Food was on point and our server was great. Pork chops were good and the sweet tea was delicious. Can't wait to come back the next time we visit family.

Steven R.

Yelp
I was looking for a breakfast place but got here to late. I ordered a hot roast beef sandwich which I was not impressed with at all. The roast beef looked old and the sandwich was still half cold and the cheese not even melted. Why offer a hot sandwich when the cook does not care about the food. The waitress was nice but I don't like getting the check when you drop off my food.

Thomas D.

Yelp
Homestyle food cooked with love, awesome service and southern ambience great place to eat.

Yelp
Still on my quest to find salmon patties in this city, and somehow came across Circle G while heading to Stockyard(which is closed on Saturdays). The parking lot was packed so that was my sign to check the menu and wouldn't you know they have salmon patties! I called my order in for salmon patty, eggs, and homefries with toast. I was able to find parking on the side of the building toward the back while I waited in the car a bit for the order and once I went in there was another long wait as there seemed to be some chaos with sorting the to go orders. The food was good overall but the homefries were too soft and mushy for me but the salmon patty was not bad at all but that long wait may keep me away on Saturdays.

Yelp
This is one of the best breakfast places in Charlotte. Very fast, friendly and courteous. They get you in fast. The food is so delicious and prices are reasonable.

Marty W.

Yelp
Very good home-cooked meals with great service and don't sleep on the desserts. They are really good.

Marty S.

Yelp
Loved the western omelette with perfect hash browns. My friend loved the grits and fried ham. Disappointed the biscuits would take 20 minutes so did not get them. Decent coffee and great service!

Kelly C.

Yelp
I had a Spanish omelet which was really good. It's a 3 egg omelet which means it is big. The salsa is in the middle and not on top. I liked it a lot. The waitress was able to get me Tabasco sauce which made me happy. The black coffee was average. The rye toast was okay. Wasn't Jewish rye but it was buttered. I requested sliced tomatoes instead of grits or hashbrowns and they did that at no charge. That's a plus. I had a side of livermush. It was $3.50 for one piece of livermush. Other places serve 2 pieces for less than $2. I deducted one star on this review for this reason. Overall, I would go back. Very good food and service.

Yelp
Great family restaurant with full menu and reasonable prices. Always busy I've been visiting Circle G for several years. My favorite is Saturday breakfast but lunch choices are great too.

Angela R.

Yelp
Mom was in the mood for fish. I called Circle G to place the order. The receptionist patiently accepted our order, repeating it to ensure it was correct. He stated it would be ready in 15 minutes. When I arrived, the food was prepared to our expectations! This restaurant is always busy yet, they make you feel special!!! Mom was happy with her flounder, black eyed peas and potato salad. We will return!!!

Carol S.

Yelp
Awesome southern home cooking absolutely love the grits and lunchtime. I just love the fried chicken and fried squash.

Lameka S.

Yelp
Circle G has the best breakfast in All of of Charlotte in my opinion. Everything I've tried was delectable. Nothing was a disappointment. Service is fast and the biscuits are everything!!!!!

Matt H.

Yelp
Food was fantastic. The service was great and had a great dinner ambience. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
in town early with a little time on my hands so why not check another place off the list... easy to find, easy to park, easy to afford :-) came in near the start of the plague to a parade of folks picking up, some were dining in so I took a seat at the counter for coffee and a peek at the menu... burger plus crunchy lettuce, mayo, firm juicy tomatoes and an egg up with pickles on one side and a gravy biscuit on the other. a half cup of coffee later my food came out plated up fancy and ready to go. the menu claims it's all scratch made "from the freshest ingredients" and you couldn't prove otherwise by me. it's more a meal for the masses than the ages but that's exactly what I expected and when you gets what you wants life is good :-)

Cory F.

Yelp
Currently over-rated at 4.5 stars. Biscuits are flat and greasy. Corned beef hash is from a can. I was hoping for something more. Meh.

Yelp
A Charlotte gem recommended by a friend. It's a quaint medium sized restaurant with booths and tables bustling with regulars enjoying home cooking and good company. The friendly waitresses make you feel right at home with minimal wait and small talk. While there for lunch, the revolving restaurant door invited regulars and friends alike for another satisfied meal. Windows line the side of the building with views of the parking lot. Menus showcase comfort food selections that warm your insides. When the bounty of food was brought out, I dreamed of elastic waist pants--- ! Food was well seasoned and neither of us finished all of it. Believe me you'd be hard pressed to find a selection that you wouldn't enjoy! I highly recommend it.

Duane M.

Yelp
Excellent food! Great service! I've eaten here many times over the years! They are very consistent! They know how to put food out! I drive an hour for there food! You will be pleased!

Jacey M.

Yelp
My coworkers and I decided to try a new place for lunch today. First off, if you don't know someone who knows this place you probably wouldn't go here on your own. The outside is nothing special, but when you pull in the parking lot is packed!! This is a place for a diner experience. When you walk in the seating options seem sort of limited (especially with it being packed for lunch), but I think there is more seating as you go back. Once we got there we were greeted and our waitress was fast with getting our drink order. She was also fast with getting us our check which is always appreciated. This place has typical diner food with chicken tenders, meat loaf, fried chicken, sandwiches, salads, and hot subs! One thing that is a little weird about the menu is under the "specials" section, the sides listed under it in italics are the sides for the day. My coworker asked for fried okra (because it's for every other day) but it wasn't under Thursday's option so he couldn't get it. We could hear the mistake being made at 2 other tables! I ordered a bacon sandwich.. yes that's right! All bacon (it was a good portion of baco, with cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a hoagie. It was pretty good. The bread was tasty. My coworkers got the meatloaf with Mac n cheese and greens and the fried calabash shrimp with greens and fried squash. They both said it was really good esp. the greens. I don't like greens but they said they were surprisingly very good so you should try them! With the shrimp (which is what the one guy usually gets at any restaurant) said it was really good but the tarter sauce had a little too much mayonnaise in it. Also, I got honey mustard for my fries and it tastes exactly like Kens, which I'm not the biggest fan of but some people like it! Anyway, the food was pretty good but didn't blow me out of the water. The average price was about $8 for any dish. I wouldn't drive out of your way to eat here, but if you are in the area or looking for a new diner to try def check it out!! Overall good experience and I would definitely come back if I'm in the area. And P.S. my coworkers said the bathrooms are super super tiny!! So be ready for that!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite local restaurants. The food is consistently Good and the service is awesome. I highly recommend giving the Circle G a try for lunch or breakfast.

Yelp
Heard about this place while looking for an apartment. This place is definitely a place to visit if you are on the West side of Charlotte. It has a great small roadside diner feel but also a neighborhood feeling as well. Both my wife and I got the Steak and eggs. The meal comes with grits or hashbrowns, and toast or biscuits. I got the grits and toast, my wife got the hashbrowns and biscuits. We devoured the food. The steak was awesome, no need for sauces as it was juicy on it's own. My eggs were over easy and ran just perfectly for my toast. The grits were made just right as they weren't to gritty and hard like others are. The waitstaff are great, folks are checking on you at the right pace for eating and talking. Definitely would recommend this place.

Imani H.

Yelp
This business is efficiently ran, has a very personable staff, great food, and unbeatable prices. You will not be disappointed!

Karma B.

Yelp
Poor food and poor service. The salmon cakes were basically filler and the eggs were cold. Sent food back and got fried flounder with grits. Big lump in the grits. I'm just wondering why I didn't go to Dino's to begin with.

T W.

Yelp
Walk in and seat yourself. Found a table on a busy Saturday morning. Hard working servers but lacked that southern charm that would have given it the 5 stars. Food was great.

Natasha K.

Yelp
The best of the best. Spicy chicken wrap and club are my favorites. The best macaroni and cheese I've ever had. Everyone is extremely friendly

Tinisha P.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the prices are so reasonable. The French toast is EVERYTHING!

G B.

Yelp
Cool little diner with a southern touch. The 4 star rating is all about the service. They really treat you like one of the family! I have never been treated more pleasantly and been catered to better than at this place! The portions are huge. The food is good and fresh. The menu has plenty to offer.

Danius G.

Yelp
I have been twice, and both times were back to back days. This place is awesome, food is on point. I can eat here every day, and would get the strawberry banana pudding every time. The sweet tea here is even awesome, gonna make this my new go-to lunch spot.

Hugh P.

Yelp
Great as usual this a most for southern food. I always just trust the waitress (Liz and Christy) and their recommendations and the food is a blast! Not to mention the desserts. This is just a gem. Nice to see all the regulars eating.

Roz K.

Yelp
Susan is the BEST waitress I have ever had! She remembers my orders and drink. I thoroughly enjoy this place. It's the best kept little secret on the northwest side of town! It feels like family every time I arrive.

Melanie D.

Yelp
Reasonable prices and a soild menu. This is old school dining at its best. Service is receptive and quick. And there is never a wait for a table. Best time to go is 9am And 12noon before the huge rush of lunch folks start coming.

Sue C.

Yelp
Real food. Real People. Crispy hashbrowns and best omelette I have had in a long time! Awesome service. Crusty old place been in. Business since 1952 but clean and welcoming. Hard to find in Charlotte anymore

Reia C.

Yelp
I have not a single solitary complaint about this place. I love a good ol' country breakfast served with a generous side of southern hospitality! Plus, anywhere that serves livermush is all good in my book any day of the week. The prices are excellent and honestly if you don't leave full you might have a tapeworm ‍

Kathy T.

Yelp
I am 58 years old I've been going to this restaurant since I was born. Add to my mother there every day when she was alive for over 15 years Sally owns the restaurant now. And I can tell you the food has never been better the waitresses or excellent if you're feeling down go in there when you leave you'll be feeling a lot better. Try the fried chicken anything on the breakfast menu and the country style steak. And the prices with them you could go every day of the week and it wouldn't hurt you but one thing you've got to try is the biscuits are makes you want to say amen

Mandy G.

Yelp
This place is a complete hole in the wall dive smack dab in the middle of the West side's trucking industry. The food...DELICIOUS! It's packed on a Saturday morning but the wait staff does a great job trying to wrangle in the line jumpers and impatient people all vying for a coveted table. I always order the circle G special and they give you a generous portion. The hash browns are my favorite and because of that I haven't eaten anything else on the menu....I should try something new next time. You won't be disappointed at this gem of a diner!

P. E.

Yelp
I eat breakfast for lunch there almost every Saturday early afternoon . I always try too get Susan who imo is the best . Always gets my order right and best service .

Markira W.

Yelp
Best place ever!!!!! I've been going here since I was a baby. The food @Circle G is always delicious & the servers treat everyone like family.

Hawaii B.

Yelp
It's always a good time here. The servers are very nice and attentive. I never tried anything that didn't taste good here. Just good ol' comfort food. And they always have specials daily. Definitely a must try spot, you will not be disappointed

Bradley H.

Yelp
Great food low prices and good service a great place for breakfast the hash browns are killer quite a hidden gem that has been there since 1954

Ian D.

Yelp
I had some business in Biddleville, a location in West Charlotte previously unknown to me. Did the biz, hit Yelp for a restaurant, and the Circle G came highly recommended. Family owned since 1954, the parking lot was packed, as was the inside. Sounds of happy diners swamped the place. I had a veggie omelette with hash browns and a banana strawberry pudding for dessert. I'm sort of glad I didn't know of this place or I would have eaten here way too often for my belly and bank account.

Pamela W.

Yelp
You cannot go wrong eating at Circle G...the country cooking is awesome!! Their breakfast gets your day off to a great start. The staff is great !!!

Rick L.

Yelp
I work in the warehouse section of Charlotte and there really isn't any close restaurants except G's. If you want fast good friendly service in a diner atmosphere, this is your place. Food servings are bountiful and straight forward; not much creativity coming from the kitchen, but I would not expect that at a diner. But the food is always hot and tasty. I like their chicken salad plate: scoops of chicken salad over iceberg, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, shredded cheese and crackers. Pretty filling. Great sweet tea too!

Chris G.

Yelp
The server was a sweetheart but the food was nasty. I got Chicken Pan Pie with potato salad and fried squash. I took 1 bite of the potato salad and didn't eat anymore. The fried squash was soggy and bland. Other than the service, I was really disappointed with this place.

Bill D.

Yelp
I have lived in Charlotte for 30+ years and today was the first day that I ever set foot into this restaurant. WHAT A DUMMY I AM. As others have said, the food is great, the service is wonderful and the price is right. I had a three veggie plate for lunch today with cornbread and I left a very happy camper. When I went at around 12:30 PM today, the parking lot was packed! The restaurant has been around for decades! Those are great indicators of a restaurant that knows what it is doing, and does it well. I most definitely will return!

Beth W.

Yelp
Old fashioned cafe. Simple meat and three menu plus a bunch of sandwiches. Massive amount of food. Most of patrons work nearby.

Vinit P.

Yelp
Quick. Delicious. Cheap. Best meat and two joint in Charlotte. Daily specials are good and the sides are excellent. Order the fried okra and cornbread.

Heather W.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for breakfast! Having said that, I have never had their lunch or dinner. Their food is freshly prepared, comes in large portions, and down-home good. Service is very friendly and super speedy even on packed weekend mornings.

Josh M.

Yelp
This spot is near my work & I usually eat here once a week. It's an old diner, if you're looking for an upscale feel keep going but you'll be missing a gem. They have great country plates, sandwiches, subs etc. I've never really been disappointed with anything here. They have different specials everyday with reasonable prices. The staff is also very friendly & accommodating. Highly recommend!

Heidi J.

Yelp
This place has great customer service and even better food! No matter how busy they get the service is always prompt . One of the few mom and pop places around.
